Location : CPW Arena, City of Industry, CA
The show opened up with clips from the most recent CPW events involving the NWA World Champion and the CPW Heavyweight Champion and all of the 'extra participants' in the match.
As the final second of the show were played, the CPW champion, Alberto Del Rio came out and said that once again, he was sidetracked from this goal, his quest... his god given DESTINY of wearing the NWA World Heavyweight Championship! He said at the last show, Rey got involved. He was jealous that given the number of rematches, he was unable to get the job done, but he is no longer a thorn in his side....
About then Chris Jericho cut off the champion! Jericho said that while Del Rio my be the CPW Champion, Jericho is the ONLY 6 time NWA World champion on ANY roster! He is the one who deserves that championship opportunity, and his actions against Punk were a reminder to the NWA Champion, and the CPW board of directors, that he is here for the NWA Title, and will settle on nothing less!
Of course this brought out the Awesome one.. The Miz, who reminded every one that he is also a former NWA World Champion. A world Champion that mind you made the competition a bit smaller in CPW when he beat Randy Orton in a Loser Leaves CPW match!
Not wanting to feel left out, Samoa Joe, one half of the CPW Tag Team Champions came out and reminded everyone he is also a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and unlike the rest of the 'pretenders' he don't need to attack anyone to make his point known. He takes what he wants (he holds up hit tag team title belt). He credits Del Rio with being a dominant champion, but notes that his time will come to and end. He tells Jericho that his only motivation is money, and that he had better be saving what he can. He asks The Miz how it feels to be stuck over achieving in an under achievers roll?
At that point, out came the CPW Director, Eric Biscoff. he said that while all of them have a valid point at making claim to be a top contender to the NWA Title from California Pro, he wants each man to take a long hard look, and a good listen to the man who is about to come out, as this man is the man who will ultimately decide who is or is not in the company, based on how he works in the ring.... (Out walks Jim Cornette to a huge ovation!)
Jim Cornette laid it out like this: He was appointed as the CPW Booker. What that meant was he booked the matches for the card. He drew up the contracts, and got the signatures. How the boys got the match to go, was all them! Now each man was a worthy competitor for the NWA Championship, so tonight, at BreakDown, there would be an Elimination Match, with the winner facing off with the NWA World Heavyweight Champion at the next CPW Pay Per View: Capitol Punishment live from the Power Balance Arena in Sacramento on October 27th!
One on One Match : Alex Riley pinned Caprice Coleman with the Lifting DDT in 06:42.
- Both men were a bit stressed going into this mach, as both lost on their last outing, and were looking to rebound with a win.
- Alex was the first to be able to take advantage of Colman's relative inexperience.
- In the end, Alex was able to hit the DDT for the win.
One on One Match : Adam Pearce and Cliff Compton defeated Pure Dynamite (John Walters and Josh Daniels) when Adam Pearce made Josh Daniels submit to an armbar submission in 09:12.
- Pure Dynamite had the team experience, but Compton and Pearce had the ring experience.
- This was a good back and forth match, with both teams showing a lot of potential.
- In the end, it was Pearce and Compton who used their combined experience to bend the rules and focused on an early injury to Josh Daniels to secure the win.
Challenge from Tanaka : He came on the big screen and said that tonight he was facing Sabu in Japan, but next week he wanted more 'American Blood'! He would be there in California, waiting in that ring, ready for a 'California Roll'.
One on One Match : Richie Steamboat pinned Carlito with the Dragon's Bite in 06:59.
- Carlito came out and demanded a rematch from the last show with Steamboat! Richie came out and said he was more than happy to oblige!
- Carlito dominated a good portion of this match, just as he had done last time, but again, his over inflated ego got the best of him!
- Richie was able to once again hit his Dragon's Bite for the win. Afterwards, Carlito went ballistic and leveled the young Steamboat with a chair shot that drew blood!
One on One Match : Kofi Kingston pinned Joe Hennig after a springboard cross body press in 09:36.
- Joe called out Kingston prior to this match and said that his winning of the King of the Ring was a fluke. Joe said that he could beat Kingston. Kingston came out and accepted the challenge.
- This was a back and forth match, with both men getting in a good amount of offense, and showing what they can do in the ring.
- In the end, it was Kofi who caught the slightly winded Henning with a springboard cross body press for the win. After wards, Dolph got in the ring and challenged Kofi to a match, saying he could do what his partner couldn't... and that was beat Kofi!
CPW Television Title Match : Ken Anderson (c) pinned Matt Hardy with the Mic Check in 11:50 to retain the CPW Television Title.
- A good back and forth match between these two.
- Hardy looked like he was about to put Anderson a way a few times, but continued to inflict the punishment.
- When it finally looked like Hardy had the win secured, Scott Steiner's music hit the PA system, and Hardy started looking around, allowing Anderson to recompose. When Hardy realized that Steiner wasn't in the arena, Anderson was able to hit the Mic Check and secure the win and retain his T.V Title.
Before the match began, Jim came out and said there was one more thing he needed to say before the match got going. He said this match was for EVERY former NWA World Champion on the roster currently... With that AJ Styles made his way to the ring!
Elimination Match to determine the Number One Contender at Capitol Punishment :
- AJ Styles defeated The Miz after the Styles Clash in 12:27
- Samoa Joe defeated Chris Jericho after a Muscle Buster in 15:17
- AJ Styles defeated Samoa Joe after an Asai moonsault into an inverted DDT in 15:28
- Alberto Del Rio defeated AJ Styles after the Cross Armbreaker in 17:38
Alberto Del Rio won a hard fought 5-man Elimination Match to earn another opportunity to face CM Punk for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship at Capitol Combat. AJ Styles was surly a game changer in the match, as he was the last man eliminated in the match, but also scored the most eliminations with 2. The Miz saw his match come to an abrupt end as he felt the Code Breaker followed by the Styles Clash to be eliminated first.
Jericho went next after feeling the brute force and strength of Samoa Joe, and a low blow from the CPW Champion, Del Rio.
AJ then eliminated Joe with a high risk/high payoff move, that was set up by Alberto Del Rio only moments before.
In the end, the larger Del Rio capitalized on Styles recent lack of wrestling, due to RoH not running a show in over two months. Del Rio used a ring side chair to beat on Styles a few times, and there wasn't anything the referee could do. Del Rio locked on the arm breaker and it was only a matter of time.
