WAR ZONE WRESTLING
PRESENTS
"DOOMSDAY"
LOCATION: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH
EVENT DATE: April 28, 2013
In-Ring Segment
Shawn Michaels comes to the ring and welcomes everyone to the show, live from the Quicken Loans Arena, right here where it all began in Cleveland, Ohio! War Zone Wrestling has become the place to be and the place to watch because of it's unpredictability, and tonight, he has an announcement. Tonight, a championship will be crowned... and no, he is not talking about the WZW Women's Championship, no, he is talking about a new championship, a championship which has no rules, no weight limits, no time limits... and championship that has be christened the WZW No Limits championship, which will be decided tonight in a match, a WZW original which has been dubbed a Crossfire Cage Match. It will consist of a cage, obviously, but across the top of a cage will be two intersecting cables. One man must climb across a cable to the center of the crossed wires and retrieve the championship above!
But who will be in this match???
The first four names are as follows... Delirious! Johnny Nitro! Shiima Xion! Willow the Whisp! These names draw a favorable response from the crowd, but Michaels says there are two more names to be added. He says right now, there is going to be a Six Man Elimination Match. The last two standing will be entered into the match... and that's how it's done!
WZW NO LIMIT TITLE QUALIFIER
SIX MAN ELIMINATION MATCH
Curt Hawkins vs. "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards vs. "Brooklyn's Flyest" JTG vs. Plazma vs. Richie Steamboat vs. Yoshitatsu
This was chaotic as one might expect, as all six of these hungry stars were trying to earn a prominent spot on the card. This was a great way to light up the fans early, with JTG and Plazma able to somehow overcome their opponents to advance.
SINGLES MATCH
John Cena vs. Kenneth Cameron w/ Katie Leigh
Cameron has a pinfall victory over Cena already, but Cena felt a sense of redemption as he got a one over the man who has apparently aligned himself with Cameron and Jinder Mahal, Chris Dickinson, not without a bit of help from the World Heavyweight champion, but that is neither here nor there. Cena would come into this match with the fans generally behind him, and he did pretty well for himself early, controlling the early match with some high intensity brawling and impact moves. Cameron would manage to get things going his way with a more methodical pace, really stomping and driving the life out of Cena. Katie Leigh would make herself a presence in the match whenever possible, most notably near the end with a low blow, which was how she neutralized the Massachusetts native last time he and Cameron crossed paths, Cameron nailing him once again with a Velvet Noise, but only getting a two count! Cena would fight back, nailing his Spin-out Powerbomb and locking on the STFU, but Cameron would get to the ropes, in part thanks to Katie Leigh pushing the bottom rope forward, making it easier for him to grab. Cena would have words for Katie Leigh, causing her to slide in and attempt to slap him, but Cena blocked the shot, picking her up... the fans are all cheering as he delivers the FU! Cameron bursts up, obviously upset about this, and nearly decapitates Cena with a massive clothesline! He then hurries and delivers a Curb Stomp, but he's not done... he nails a second Curb Stomp and pins, and this time it is enough to get the pinfall!
SUBMISSION MATCH
Chris Hero vs. Kurt Angle w/ Zeb Colter
Hero and Angle put on the wrestling clinic that was expected here, which wasn't particularly exciting for the fans at first, as it was pretty much a human game of chess for quite some time, Hero proving he is able to hang with the Olympian and managed to get a few over on him when it came to the mat game. Colter would see that Angle was fading in there, not able to keep up the pace with the younger Hero, so he tried to interject himself, getting up on the apron to complain to the referee about something or other. Angle would go to the outside of the ring as the referee was arguing with Colter, leading him to grab the hammer used to ring the bell. As Hero made his way to the outside, Angle would blast him in the face with the foreign object, nearly knocking him out cold, before rolling him into the ring. Angle then heads into the ring, gloating and pulling down his straps, before applying the Ankle Lock with a grapevine to the nearly prone body of Hero. Hero, who's seeing stars, doesn't even tap, as his body just goes limp from all of the pain and head trauma. The referee calls for the bell, declaring Angle the winner.
Post-Match Segment
Colter then slides a chair into the ring and tells Angle its time to do their civic duty and teach this disgrace a lesson! Angle puts Hero's ankle inside of the chair, before heading to the middle turnbuckle and shooshing the fans, leaping off and stomping the chair! That seems to wake up Hero, as he cries out in pain, grasping at his ankle! Angle and Colter laugh all the way down the aisle, Angle yelling out, "OH HELL YEAH! THAT'S HOW WE DO! 'MERICA!"
STREET FIGHT
Kane vs. "The Headhunter" Leo Kruger
Leo Kruger has James Mitchell with him, tied up and gagged, which he tosses him down at ringside as he enters the ring, not wanting to be in his presence any longer. It's clear he left Summer Rae backstage or at home, out of harm's way tonight. Kane comes in with an explosion and is carrying a trashcan with him full of plunder, ready to have a war. Mitchell was untied and he actually fled from ringside, not wanting any part of this. Kruger dives through the ring ropes and gets right on the attack, and this fight is underway! There is referee out there just to count a pinfall, everything else is completely legal. Kane is able to gain control pretty early on the match after taking some big shots, busting open the South African and making him pay. Kruger digs down deep and low, low blowing the Big Red Monster and attacking his legs and his left arm, trying to do anything he can to get the upper hand. Kane manages to hit many big moves, including two big Chokeslams onto both a trashcan and through a table, but Kruger just would not stay down. The wisest move of Kruger was to be able to do throughout was avoid the Tombstone Piledriver, finding any way possible to stop himself from being dropped on his head. Kruger would actually try numerous times for a submission, locking on armbars and twice he locked on his GC3 armbar, Kane really seeming to want no part of that as he was able to show some wrestling skill, along with his power, to escape it. In the end, Kruger would reverse a third Chokeslam attempt into a standing Triangle Choke! Kane would try to escape, but Kruger it locked on tight, blood pouring from his forehead as he looked like a madman, Kane actually sitting down into it. The referee was able to confirm that Kane had passed out, and the match was over! Kruger did the improbable, defeating Kane by way out knockout!
Post-Match Segment
Apocalypse would make his way out to the ring, along with Ariel. APOC would inform Kruger that it was time for the games to end. He said beating Kane was no easy task, but beating him was impossible! No more kidnappings, no more bullshit, one on one, he wants to go another round and get beat again, so be it, he'll be glad to teach him yet another lesson in a real wrestling match! Kruger gets on the stick and says this Thursday, Apocalypse is going to wish his world would end, as he's going to learn what pain is really all about!
Pre-Match Segment
Spanky makes his way to the ring and says tonight, he proves once and for all that Bryan Danielson, the so-called "American Dragon" is nothing but a piece of shit, and that he is better than him! He says he's been losing his mind, trying to end careers because he can't deal with the fact that he's not the best and he's never done anything, and it's time for him to face the music! Spanky tells him to get on out here and take this ass kicking like a man!
"NO! NO! NO!"
Half boos, half cheers as the American Dragon emerges from the back. He then says that Brian Kendrick is the one who needs to face the fact that just because he held a World Tag Team title, he's nothing more than a loser like that punk, that little, insignificant speck of dust known as Paul London, who thinks he's really worth his time! He's the American Dragon, the living legend, the urban myth of the underground! He goes where he pleases, and he does so in mysterious, off kilter ways, and you should always look behind you, cause that's where the Dragon's gonna be! He says he's tired of the disrespect, and that Spanky should have just stayed home and hung up the boots, but no, Uncle Shawn says they've gotta spar one more time, and this time, he's gonna prove Spanky ain' t nothin'!
"You got that! You ain't nothin'!"
SINGLES MATCH
American Dragon vs. Spanky
Dragon slides in and the bell sounds as these two begin to trade blows. The match is a great back and forth of striking early, with Dragon taking the best of that, really laying into Spanky, who has to go to his ground game. These two trade hold for hold on the ground, with Spanky actually getting the better of him and earning some near falls. Spanky then attempts to take things more to the air, which Dragon seems to be prepared for and puts a stop to it, beginning his striking assault again and landing 9 consecutive kicks with his left leg to the chest of Spanky, which Spanky was able to duck the 10th, only to catch a right kick for his troubles! Dragon would call for the end, attempt a Dragon Suplex, but Spanky would hook his legs and perform and roll-up, getting a near two count, leading to him nailing a big dropkick, followed by a Leg Lariat, and then an attempt at the Sliced Bread #2, but Dragon is able to twist and shove him off, but the referee is hit in the process, and every one is down in the ring! As if by trumpet call, out comes Brad Maddox with something in his hand... it's pepper spray! He catches Spanky with pepper spray right to the eyes, before rolling out of the ring, and the referee is up. Dragon and Spanky are up, Spanky is wiping at his eyes furiously, but Dragon grabs his arm, taking him down... he locks on the NO! Lock! Even blinded, Spanky is still able to gut it out and actually reverse the hold, escaping. And like out of a scene from Bloodsport, Spanky is up, blinded, his hands out in front of him, as he dodges some on coming attacks from Dragon somehow. He throws a kick, but he misses, and Dragon is able to catch him with a devastating Roundhouse Kick right on the button! Spanky goes down, but Dragon isn't done, grabbing him by the arms... he has both wrists clutched and lays into him with a stomp! And another! And three more! Oh, the referee has to call it, Spanky can't defended himself, as Dragon is trying to stomp him to death! The referee tackles Dragon off of Spanky, what a heinous showing!
Post-Match Segment
Brad Maddox enters the ring, getting on the mic as the fans are booing. He introduces himself, and says that he is the top talent agent in the sport of professional wrestling, representing stars such as Johnny Nitro, Yoshitatsu, and Shiima Xion, but tonight, everyone should welcome the newest member of his Agency... the American Dragon! Dragon shakes hands with Maddox, stating that for years, he'd been held down because he lacked the proper representation to get ahead, but now... now he's seen the light, NOW he knows that all of those doors that used to close, where they said he wasn't good enough, he didn't have the personality, didn't have the look, all of those who used to say... NO, NO, NO... they'll be saying YES... YES... YES! Dragon laughs maniacally, as Maddox pats him on the back and they leave, Spanky being carried off to be treated, no shame in losing this stacked battle tonight.
3 RIVERS TITLE
SINGLES MATCH
Bobby Fish (c) vs. Tyler Black
Fish is a very good and tactical wrestler, but Tyler Black just seemed to have everything going for him tonight. The fans were so loudly behind him, it was hard to hear anything, as he fought tooth and nail to stop Fish from suppressing him and seemed to have the champion scouted greatly. Black was able to score big with his Avada Kedvara, and it was all over! Tyler Black is the new 3 Rivers champion after a grueling battle!
WZW WOMEN'S TITLE
TRIANGLE MATCH
"The Female Terminator" Alissa Flash vs. Kaitlyn vs. "The Queen of Wrestling" Sara del Rey[/b]
This was a match that saw some miscommunication drag it down a bit, but was overall a pretty good showing. The fans weren't as into it as one might hope, but in the end, Sara del Rey put on a good showing in defeating her opponents and becoming the first ever WZW Women's Champion!
WZW NO LIMITS TITLE
CROSSFIRE CAGE MATCH
Delirious vs. Johnny Nitro vs. JTG vs. Plazma vs. Shiima Xion vs. Willow the Whisp[/b]
Yet another spotfest for this show, but an original one. The cage to this had no door, the purpose of the cage was simply to be used as a weapon and to add a high place to jump from and danger to the contest, which was essentially an Ultimate X match. Nitro and Xion are partners in Brad Maddox's Agency, and Xion has beef with Willow, so of course they went after him, and they would fight on the outside. Eventually Willow would hit what was expected, a Swanton from the top of the cage onto Nitro. Xion would steal the show, however, nailing a Double Rotation Moonsault to the outside from the top of the cage onto most of his opponents. In the end, it was Delirious who somehow had the soundest mind and made to the championship belt, becoming the first ever WZW No Limits champion! Being one of the only guys on the roster to have been with the company since day one, and being one of the major players the entire time, this only seems fitting.
He celebrates wildly through the crowd with all of his fans, who couldn't be happier!
WZW TITLE
SINGLES MATCH
Alex Shelley (c) vs. Sami Callihan
Callihan sneak attacks Shelley before the match even starts, attacking him backstage and then beating him up all the way down the ramp, Shelley fighting back but the vicious Callihan is able to maintain control mostly. Callihan gets him into the ring and hits a Sliding Lariat, but only gets a short two count. Callihan attempts to lock on his Stretch Muffler, but Shelley escapes, and gets to work with his fast paced and fluid moves, showing Callihan a thing or two on the mat. Callihan is able to regain some control with a Lariat, followed by a big Saito Suplex for a two count. He then calls for the Headlock Driver, but Shelley escapes, hitting a Superkick, followed by the ShellShock, which put Callihan's partner in TOXIC, Jimmy Jacobs, down for the three on Thursday, but not so for Sami tonight. Shelley would try to lock on his Border City Stretch, but Callihan escaped, nailing a Dead Lift German Suplex for a two count. Sami would nail multiple Short-Arm Lariats, keeping a death grip on Shelley as he punished him, before hitting a Rebound Splash, but still just a two! Callihan attempts another Lariat, but Shelley ducks, Backsliding Callihan, but he lets go and Sami rolls to his knees where he is met with a vicious Roundhouse Kick to the face! Shelley then ascends the top rope and comes off with a picture perfect Frog Splash, and it's all over! Shelley manages to defend his championship successfully again, but not without taking one Hell of a beating at the hands of one of Impact's finest (and filthiest)!
NWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE
SINGLES MATCH
BJ Whitmer vs. Dolph Ziggler (c)
The "show off" Dolph Ziggler proved to be the master of selling, with Whitmer doing a great job early on of laying a beat down on the champion and the champion making the offense look like a million bucks. Ziggler was able to escape an Exploder Suplex attempt and nail a Fameasser to turn the tides, taking full advantage of the momentum switch and slowing things down to a pace where he could control he domineering challenger. Whitmer would rally back with some very stiff offense and nearly got the win after hitting a Reverse STO into the Peruvian Necktie, but Ziggler would manage to slither his way to the ropes to get a break. Ziggler would attempt multiple times through the match to lock on his Sleeper, but he was finally able to put the match away when he put a boot into the face of Whitmer charging in while he was in the corner, hopping up to the middle turnbuckle and then flying off with a modified Zig Zag, which was a huge exclamation point on a very tough victory!
NWA WORLD WOMEN'S TITLE
SINGLES MATCH
Kana (c) vs. Nattie Neidhart
The fans weren't too in the know on this one, but these two women told a great story in this match, Nattie looking for redemption after losing her championship and actually dominating a lot of the opening, but Kana showed the guts and determination of a champion, able to overcome with her striking prowess and formidable technical skills. Kana would use her hip attacks to change the momentum of the fight on a number of occasions, her shoot kicks providing the bulk of her punishing arsenal. Nattie would work the legs, knowing they are her biggest weapon, as well as the back, softening her up as she locked on the Sharpshooter a few times, even bridging in the last attempt, really trying to put on the pressure, but Kana seemed like she was born in a crucible, waving off the pressure and providing plenty of her own. In the end, it was Kana who would get the submission, locking on a Reverse Cross Armbar to finally make the exhausted Canadian star tap out in this rematch.
NWA WORLD JR. HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
SINGLES MATCH
Johnny Gargano (c) vs. Kenny Omega
Omega has successfully pinned Gargano before, and was looking to do it again for the TOXIC members World championship. Gargano is a great wrestler, nobody can deny that, but he has been really stretching to keep his title reign in tact, as many capable opponents have threatened to take it from him, leading him to join TOXIC, many believe, to try and add an extra element to his game. Here, though, he seemed to be alone, as it seemed like TOXIC were somewhat throwing him out in deep and dangerous water here to see if he could swim, the group having no problem eating their own, and Gargano seemed like he was ready to do anything to get this over with and get out with his belt. Omega would try for near fall after near fall, while Gargano constantly tried to stay close to the ropes and use them to his advantage, whether it be adding leverage to a submission or pin attempt, or trying to escape a possible situation where he could lose. Gargano is the hometown guy, so he had some fans behind him, but he didn't seem to care, as he attempted more than once to just walk out on the match, but Omega had pretty much everyone rallying behind him as he kept this thing alive. Gargano would manage to escape Croyt's Wrath by nailing a well placed Mule Kick almost as fast as lightening, grabbing Omega by the head from behind, rolling him over with a Snapmare into a Modified Cradle to get the pinfall!
The fans are booing as Gargano flips them all off, leaving with his title, as Omega holds his plums in the middle of the ring, looking absolutely sickened and in agony.
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
SINGLES MATCH
"The Death Machine" Chris Dickinson vs. "The Most Hybrid Wrestler Ever" Kyle Matthews (c)
Matthews cost Dickinson a win on Thursday, and now Dickinson is more pissed off than ever. Matthews tries to grapple with the Long Island native early, but Dickinson is able to power him off, mouthing off with the champion and telling him to man the fuck up! Dickinson slaps Matthews like a bitch, causing Matthews to unload a series of elbows and kicks, only to eat an Side Mount Suplex from Dickinson that sends him to the outside! Dickinson is vicious, biting and crossface punching Matthews, trying to rip his face apart with his nails as he taunts the fans, tongue out and screaming like a lunatic. Matthews is able to catch some shoot kicks coming in from Dickinson on the inside and hit two big Dragon Screws followed into a Half Boston Crab, but Dickinson reached the ropes. Matthews continued to work the leg diligently, really grinding in and showing his mastering of the psychology aspect of the sport, not letting "The Death Machine" breathe, but Dickinson knew this was how it would be and showed great poise and conditioning to counter and stand his ground with the very versatile champion. Matthews and Dickinson had each other scouted so well and would not let each other use their pet moves, as Dickinson seemed to have infinite answers to counter the Hidaka Lock and Matthews would not be caught dead in the Brain Eater, so they both had to dig deep to figure out a way to end this thing.
Matthews would manage to withstand eating big shot after big shot from Dickinson, as Dickinson tried to turn this into a strong style fight in the end, wanting to go blow for blow with the Ikuto Hidaka trainee who knows a thing or two about BattleARTS, but Matthews was able to block a kick with his forearms and catch Dickinson off guard, flying at him and wrapping his legs around him, pulling him down into a Cross Kneelock! Matthews would punish Dickinson by stomping downward with his right leg, rotating between stomps and applying pressure, but Dickinson would manage to get to the ropes. Matthews lays into Dickinson, working over his leg and trying for a Cradle Back Suplex, but Dickinson breaks free and nails an Exploder Suplex into the turnbuckles!
Dickinson would pick up Matthews, thinking he might end things with a Brainbuster, but Matthews was able to change positions mid-move, dropping Dickinson down into a Fujiwara Armbar, but Dickinson rolled forward and then tried to kick Matthews in the face, only to have Matthews latch on him and apply a nasty looking Heel Hook! Dickinson had absolutely nowhere to go here, as Matthews threatened to rip his ligaments to pieces. Dickinson was forced to tap out, as Matthews got the huge victory!
Matthews celebrates the successful title defense, with Dickinson rolling out of the ring unceremoniously, refusing to congratulate the champion as he walks to the back in silence. He knows the road to redemption is going to be a long one now, as Matthews enjoys being on top of the mountain another day.
