NWA Hybrid Pro TV 26/07/2013: "Back to Basics"
Kyle Matthews and The Prophecy come out to start the show. Matthews gets the mic.
Matthews: "NWA, your time is running out. Despite his pathetic double teaming efforts with Alberto Del Rio that show just how low down a human being he is, Chris Dickinson didn't win the title at The Great American Bash, and neither did the leader of Prophecy lite, Jon Moxley. The Great Muta proved what a chump he's always been by losing last week, and every other challenger despite their big words and insults have failed to beat me. Look at the people I've defeated: John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Alberto Del Rio, Kofi Kingston, Bully Ray, the list goes on and on. For all the big words said against me, about my character, my size, my attitude and my so called reliance on The Prophecy, I have more than proven myself a worthy champion, and the NWA has proven itself to be pathetic by not finding anyone who can beat this so called "vanilla midget" antichrist and his goons.
So its time to take things up a notch with my two part plan for killing the NWA. Part 1 happens tonight. I'm issuing a challenge to any wrestler in the Hybrid Pro locker room to face me in a title match, the twist is, if you lose, Hybrid Pro will have proven itself incapable of defending the NWA, and thus will not be given another shot at my title. Now, which individual think they can stop me? "
This is a lot of pressure or one man, who is going to step up and represent Hybrid Pro? It seems nobody is coming, understandable considering how difficult a position this is for that person.
Matthews: "I knew it, a locker room full of cowards, not one of you thinks your capable of winning this belt. Maybe I should just kill the NWA now and......"
The lights go out, the spotlight hits the stage and this music begins to play
The fans go crazy as Samoa Joe comes out, now this is a man who could give Matthews a run for his money. Unafraid of The Prophecy, Joe gets in the ring with them.
Joe: "Hey I might not have been in Hybrid Pro for long, but I'm to going to sit back and let you disrespect this company, that belt and the NWA anymore. I accept your challenge, because I am Samoa Joe, I am pro wrestling and I will be your NEW NWA World Champion!"
Joe throws down the mic and leaves, and Matthews looks more than a bit worried. Will Joe save the NWA, or will Hybrid Pro prove itself unworthy of defending the honour of the NWA World Title?

4 Way Matchup
Antonio Cesaro vs TF British vs Samuray Del Sol vs Sami Zayn
Big matchup here for all four men, opening the show and looking to get a big win in the process. TF british, the former Magnus displayed all the power he has in those massive shoulders and arms of his here, while Cesaro also showed a freaky amount of power in addition to his uppercuts. Zayn and Del Sol on the other hand took to the air whenever they could, overcoming the size difference with high flying moves. Zayn looked like he had this won, calling for the Springboard Tornado DDT on Cesaro, but before he could hit it Adam Pearce came out and distracted him. This allowed Cesaro to grab Zayn from behind, drop him with a Neutralizer and score a massive win.
Winner- Antonio Cesaro
Pearce laughs and leaves, and I'm not sure why he distracted Zayn here. I guess we will find out next week.
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
2MB (Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater) vs The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson)
McIntyre didn't exactly look thrilled to be teaming up with Heath Slater, one of the goofiest performers in the NWA, but he went with it all the same with the promise of gold. The Young Buck on the other hand looked way more on the same page, their double team work was fantastic and they looked hungry for gold. And following More Bang For Your Buck on Slater, The Young Bucks got 3 and became the new Hybrid Pro Tag Team Champions.
Winners- NEW NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks
The Bucks celebrated post match, but not for too long before The Pistols came out onto the ramp. They signalled that they wanted a match with The Bucks down the line, and The Bucks made belt motion around their waist as if to say they would win those North American Tag Team Titles. When will we see this epic matchup?
Johnny Gargano comes out to the ring alone with a mic, what does he have to say?
Gargano: Alright I tried to do this like a gentleman and it got me nowhere, so its time to stoop to your level Karl Anderson. Get out here now!
After a brief pause, Karl Anderson comes out to a massive pop from the fans, his Hybrid Pro heavyweight Title around his waist. Anderson stays on the ramp.
Gargano: What it is going to take Karl to get you to join my movement? I've saved your ass countless times, I've tried everything to sell you on my group, and I even wrestled you one on one to prove ourselves as equals, and yet its still not enough. Whats it going t otake karl, you tell me.
Anderson: There's not a damn thing you can do to get me to join your sissy squad Gargano, I thought the fact I beat the living crap out of you two weeks ago would have sent home the message.
Gargano: You and I both know that you can't get revenge on The Prophecy without backup. Your 1 man and there are 6 of them, no matter what the odds are too much.
Anderson: You mean like how they were too much when I kicked their asses and took the title? Listen, I already got my revenge on The Prophecy, this belt is my trophy of victory, and my issues with them are done. As for my backup, I don't need you. You know why? Because I've recruited my OWN backup. Boys, get out here and show Johnny Gargano what a real group of badasses looks like.
Out come GIANT BERNARD, LUKE GALLOWS AND ADAM PEARCE! This is some strong backup for Anderson, and Gargano looks worried.
Anderson: Hey relax, we aren't going to attack....yet. Instead, to mock your lack of a name for your collection of oddities, we've come up with a name that aligns our toughness and our appearance. Together we are DA BALDIES 2K13!
Well, thats different, they are all bald but yeah, its a name I guess. Anderson and the rest of his crew flip off Gargano in unison and leave, and Gargano has to be annoyed that his top target for his faction has formed his own group. Who will Gargano get to join instead?
Paul London is backstage with Sean Waltman. For no reason at all, London is wearing face pain in the style of Kane's mask.
Waltman: I am here with The Prophecy's newest member Paul London. Paul, a lot of people are questioning your sanity right now, and Kane has said that he wants to cleanse you of your inner pain. What do you say to say to those claims?
London: First of all X-Pac, I'm completely in control of my sanity. And I'm not scared of some masked guy in red pyjamas, he has nothing on me, I'm the greatest wrestler of all time. You see, Bryan Danielson has all but proven he's a coward, this man has not responded to my challenge for MONTHS! A cowardly, pathetic champion like him isn't worth my time anymore, he's knows he can't beat me and refuses to face me through pure fear. I've more than proven myself to be the best graduate of the Texas Wrestling Academy ever, while Danielson has justified my joining of The Prophecy, because it filled with cookie cutter yes men hand picked by the NWA, men like Bryan Danielson. I'm going to move on to real gold, not JUNIOR gold. My path of domination begins tonight by defeating "The Red Guy".
London runs off as Waltman does a Michael Cole style shrug.

"The Big Red Machine" Kane vs "The Big Red Evil Destructive Beast Monster Machine" Paul London
London's sanity is definitely questionable at this point, he seemed to spend the majority of this match mocking Kane: trying to do his pyro and getting confused when it didn't work, failing to lift Kane for a Chokeslam and completely overselling Kane's every move which has shades of Shawn Michaels vs Hulk Hogan written all over it. But behind all of this there was a clear dark side, London seemed to be lulling Kane into a false sense of security, and when the referee went down accidentally, London kicked Kane low and then kicked him the balls repeatedly. He grabbed a chair and SMASHED Kane over the head with it multiple times, then went up top. CHAIR ASSISTED LONDONS CALLING! London gets rid of the chair and goes for the cover, 1-2-3! What a win by London, as questionable as it may have been you don't beat a man like Kane with ease, this is a big statement by him, questionable sanity or not.
Winner- Paul London
Post match London goes for the chair again, but before he can attack Kane, Kane sits up. London decides to run for higher ground as Kane stands up and looks on, then sets off the fires of hell as the fans cheer. Both men live to fight another day.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV Title Match
"The Unstoppable FN Machine" Brian Cage vs "Captain Charisma" Christian
It looks as if the Challenge belt has been dropped in favour of the TV Title, thats certainly what it was billed as here. And Cage had another big test in the form of Christian, a veteran who still has to be considered one of the best pure wrestlers in the sport. He gave Cage a real run for his money here, he had clearly scouted Cage and had an answer for much of his signature moves and for that power game. Indeed at one point Christian managed to hit the Killswitch, but Cage got the ropes. Cage fought back, throwing some aerial offense in there that threw Christian off his gameplan, and then Cage was able to get those power moves in that have served him so well. One Weapon X later and Cage got another win, his 3 month unbeaten streak continuing.
Winner- Brian Cage
NWA North American Tag Team Title Match
The Pistols ("The Prodigy" Mike Bennett and "The Project" Tommaso Ciampa) vs 3 Count (Shane Helms and Shannon Moore)
What an opportunity for 3 Count, a duo who have largely sat on the sidelines of the NWA despite Helms numerous NWA Junior title reigns and the undeniable talent of Moore. They gave The Pistols a real run for their money, pushing them to their limits with their combination of high flying skill and teamwork, along with that experience you only get from competing at the highest level. Bennett and Ciampa have grown as a team however, their teamwork is crisp and fast and they look and wrestle the part of superstars, which they undeniably are now that they hold NWA tag team gold. Indeed following a Box office Smash and Project Ciampa combo on both Moore and Helms, The Pistols put their opponent down for the " 3 count".
Winners- The Pistols
The Prophecy (Dan Maff, Jack Swagger and Azrieal) vs Vordell Walker and The All Night Express (Kenny King and Rhett Titus)
A chaotic matchup between these two rival teams, as the referee really struggled to keep control here. Walker brought the fists, and combined with the wrestling skill and spirit of the ANX they took the fight to The prophecy. Maff and Swagger however are powerful men, and tossed around their opponents with ease, while Azrieal as always took a lot of chances and showed he will do anything to help out his cause. Things really started to break down towards the end, and the referee lost control of this matchup completely, meaning he had to call for the no contest.
Winners- No Contest
As the two teams continued to brawl, out came Da Baldies! They charge the ring with weapons and beat the living hell out of both teams with everything from chair to kendo sticks to some kind of rubber chicken??? Da Baldies leave as the ring looks like a bombsite, with Maff the only one remotely able to move afterwards, his face bloodied from some of those kendo stick shots. Another big statement of intent here.
NWA World Heavyweight Title Match
"The Antichrist of Professional Wrestling" Kyle Matthews vs Samoa Joe
Matthews really had his work cut out here, Joe is a man who is determined to get back to the top of the NWA, though many wouldn't have predicted he'd get a shot at the World champ this soon. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and the former World champ showed why he became champ in the first place with a dominant display, he tossed Matthews around with considerable ease, destroying him with kicks and strikes, and throwing in all of his big moves to boot. Matthews' only chance here was The Prophecy, who interfered on his behalf constantly, and Matthews really pushed the rules here to. Even then this only slowed Joe down for a minute, and he would regain dominance, getting back on top and setting up for the Muscle Buster. Joe looked like he was going to hit it, but Paul London ran in and whacked Joe across the back with Matthews' prized steel chair for the DQ.
Winner- Samoa Joe by DQ
London utterly destroys Joe with the chair in a psychotic rage, shouting "I WILL BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY!". London goes up top, CHAIR ASSISTED LONDONS CALLING! The rest of The Prophecy are in for a 6 on 1 beatdown, but before they can do anything Johnny Gargano, Vordell Walker and The All Night Express run in for the save, sending The Prophecy running scared.
Gargano helps Joe to his feet, who is fine despite the post match assault by Paul London. Gargano then takes the mic.
Gargano: Samoa Joe, you gave it your best shot, and even if you didn't win you still represented Hybrid pro and the NWA fantastically, I dare anyone to deny your not World championship material. Thats why I want you to join my movement, together we can take down The Prophecy and get that belt back in the hands of someone who wants to take the NWA forward, not kill everything that you and so many others have worked hard to build. What do you say Joe, are you in?
Joe thinks about it as Gargano awaits a response. Joe nods and shakes Gargano's hand, what a decision this is for Gargano, you couldn't ask for a better wrestler to join than this. Gargano has the mic again.
Gargano: I knew you'd join Joe, and with you on our side we can start to take action against this chaos. But Karl Anderson made me realise that one thing we still lack is a name for our movement. And with you on board Joe, I think I have that name. You see, many years ago a group of men stood up to the original Prophecy, and you were one of them Joe. And I think its safe for us to use that name again, because its our action that define us, not what we call ourselves. Thats why we will be known as THE GROUP!
Wow, Gargano is going back in time a fair bit with that name, but it does seem to fit with Joe having been part of the original version of said faction. You don't want to mess with these 5 men, they have every bit of a chance of stopping The Prophecy in their tracks. See you next week folks!

Joe thinks about it as Gargano awaits a response. Joe nods and shakes Gargano's hand, what a decision this is for Gargano, you couldn't ask for a better wrestler to join than this. Gargano has the mic again.
Gargano: I knew you'd join Joe, and with you on our side we can start to take action against this chaos. But Karl Anderson made me realise that one thing we still lack is a name for our movement. And with you on board Joe, I think I have that name. You see, many years ago a group of men stood up to the original Prophecy, and you were one of them Joe. And I think its safe for us to use that name again, because its our action that define us, not what we call ourselves. Thats why we will be known as THE GROUP!
Wow, Gargano is going back in time a fair bit with that name, but it does seem to fit with Joe having been part of the original version of said faction. You don't want to mess with these 5 men, they have every bit of a chance of stopping The Prophecy in their tracks. See you next week folks!
