Intermission
Davey Richards vs. Mistico
The atmosphere in El Paso changed entirely after intermission and it was clearly evident that the athleticism of Richards and Mistico was the catalyst. The beginning minutes of the match featured an almost constant sequence of counters and reversals. Richards was able to power out of most of Mistico’s offense, while the latter used his agility to thwart Richards with every imaginable variation of an arm drag. Richards would eventually take control, forcing Mistico to fight from the bottom for much of the match, the crowd willing him to capitalize on a mistake. Richards scored near falls after several suplexes, a double knee backbreaker and a folding powerbomb but each time saw Mistico roll the shoulder almost by the will of the crowd. Richards eventually looked to finish things with the Hammer of the Gods but Mistico wowed everyone in attendance by standing on Richard’s shoulders and then backflipping away from peril. Richards looked shocked and threw and quick right hand but Mistico ducked and connected with a backdrop. Mistico then pushed the crowd into a frenzy as he connected with several kicks, a Tornado DDT and then a springboard moonsault for a near fall. Mistico would continue to pick his spots using his quickness before bringing the crowd to their feet as he transitioned into La Mistica. Richards quickly recognized his situation though and countered the headscissors into a vicious tombstone piledriver. Mistico would roll his shoulder at the last possible moment, causing an ovation from the crowd but only incensing Richards. Richards would draw his thumb across his throat before screaming “Die Motherfucker” and unloading with a roundhouse to the side of Mistico’s head. Richards then quickly grabbed Mistico’s legs and pulled him into a cloverleaf, though Mistico couldn’t have slapped the mat if he had wanted to.
Hijos del Toros vs. Lance Archer & Phil Shatter
Rush & Texano Jr. immediately picked the crowd back up and showcased their prowess as a tag team from the outset of the match. Archer and Shatter attempted to take control using their power but Rush and Texano always found a counter to stay in control. Rush eventually caught Shatter with the Toque de Espaldas but Archer would break up the fall, bringing Texano into the ring. The crowd was on their feet for the brawl and eventually Rush tosses Archer to the floor and Texano drills Shatter with the Tornado Texas. Rush immediately follows up with a senton and hooks the leg for the three count.
Kazuchika Okada vs. James Storm
NWA Southwest finished a second consecutive show with another strong main event as Okada and Storm put on back and forth battle that didn’t reveal a winner till the very last moment. Large parts of the match were spent outside the ring in the beginning with the referee being more than liberal in his count. Okada would eventually avoid a lariat from Storm and counter with a devastating backdrop suplex into the guardrail. Okada would move things back inside the ring and score several near falls, while working over the neck of Storm with a rear chinlock when possible. Storm would find his opening by avoiding a Senton Atomico and then connecting with the Closing Time. Storm would nearly get a three count after hitting the Swinging Noose and then again when he connected with the Eight Second Ride. Storm would look for the Eye of the Storm but Okada would slide off the back and connect with quick dropkick. A slugfest would ensue after each man got to their feet, ending when Okada caught Storm’s arm for the Deep in Debt. Storm would manage to shove Okada away and go for the Last Call but Okada ducked the right leg and grabbed the right arm. Okada spun Storm around and leveled him with the Rainmaker to pick up the hard fought victory.
