Intermission
Roderick Strong vs. Perro Aguayo Jr.
Roderick Strong vs. Perro Aguayo Jr.
This was a good match for the return from intermission but more one-sided than the previous two shows. Aguayo started out well and things remained back and forth for several minutes before Strong was able to connect with a Sick Kick. Strong used his usual array of backbreaker variations and scored several near falls in the next few minutes. Aguayo surprised Strong with a hurricanrana pin to counter the Power-Breaker and then the crowd seemed surprised when Strong barely kicked out before the count of three. Aguayo picked up the pace and used several strikes to gain an advantage before Strong was able to counter a dropkick and transition quickly to the Strong Hold. Aguayo writhed in pain and with no chance to reach the ropes, he was forced to submit.
The Modern Day Warriors vs. the Laredo Brothers
This was perhaps the best tag team match in the brief history of NWA Southwest as it was packed with action from bell to bell. Fish and Cross found themselves working to keep up with the Laredo Kid and Super Laredo but able to inflict lots of damage when they could use their power and technical skill. Fish would score a near fall with a Frankensteiner and Cross would follow up with a springboard double foot stomp for a near fall of his own. The tide quickly changed though after Super Laredo bailed to the outside of the ring and then Cross missed a plancha. Super Laredo connected with a somersault off the apron, causing Fish to check on his partner. This gave Laredo Kid the opportunity to hit a Tornillo from the top turnbuckle onto all three men at ringside. Cross and Super Laredo barely made it back into the ring before a count out and both men looked to tag out pretty quickly. Both hot tags were made, bringing Fish and Kid running across the ring at one another. Fish got there first though and nearly decapitated Kid with the Sleeps with the Fishes for the sudden pinfall.
Wade Barrett vs. Adam Pearce
The main event would widely be considered the best match of the night as it featured a strong back and forth match with Pearce playing the wily veteran although only being a couple years older than Barrett. Pearce found himself in the favor of the fans, a rare situation for him in recent years, as Barrett played the callous Brit to perfection. Barrett created so much animosity with the crowd that they began to boo with each European uppercut that he unleashed. Barrett would use a powerbomb for a near fall but allowed Pearce to comeback through jawing with several fans in the front row. Pearce would work hard to gain control but was back on the canvas from the Winds of Change just as it looked like he would be able to turn the tide. Barrett would weaken Pearce with a spinebuster and then finish the match and the night with Wasteland.
