The second night of the Jr. Heavyweight Grand Prix tour stopped at the Kasama Gymnasium with a near sellout crowd witnessing the best Kenshiki event to date.  Shuji Kondo and Naomichi Marufuji debuted in the Grand Prix after receiving byes during night one and both men picked up victories; Kondo defeated the winless Atsushi Kotoge, forcing him to submit to the Gorilla Clutch, and Marufuji pinned the equally winless Atsushi Aoki with the Shiranui Kai.  Meanwhile, later on in the night, the four men who were victorious on night one of the tournament put their undefeated records on the line against one another.  BUSHI, who defeated Atsushi Aoki yesterday, defeated El Desperado, who had pinned Minoru Tanaka.  Katsuhiko Nakajima, fresh off a victory over Kotaro Suzuki, defeated KENTA, who was victorious over Atsushi Kotoge on night one.  It could be Nakajima facing BUSHI in the finals on Sunday, but we have many matches to go before that happens!

One night after defeating NWA Fight Entertainment's Justin Gabriel, Kota Ibushi continued his hot streak with an impressive victory over NWA Southwest's Kalisto.  The match was hard fought and could have gone either way, but Kalisto was put down with the Golden Star Press.  Ibushi has defeated two of his five contenders in his quest to be the number one contender in the Pacific Jr. Heavyweight Championship.

Kazuchika Okada was the root of his team's problems once again for the second night in a row.  NWA UK's Magnus and NWA Hybrid Pro's Samoa Joe were teaming up to face Go Shiozaki and Okada.  Magnus and Joe worked together seamlessly while Okada refused to help out Shiozaki, essentially making the match a two on one affair.  Shiozaki could not overcome Joe's Coquina Clutch and tapped out while Okada looked on.  Afterwards, Okada got on the microphone and told Joe that when they meet this Friday in the United States, he won't be facing the the minor league stars like Go Shiozaki, he will be facing the best of the best, and if he's not careful, Okada might just make it rain!

The main event was the second special tag team match of the evening.  Goto and Tanahashi were trying to accomplish two things - avenge their loss from the night before and gain some important momentum heading into their tournament matches, which take place on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.  Both items on their checklist were accomplished.  Goto finished O'Reilly, the NWA NOLA Heavyweight Champion, with the Shouten Kai.  Goto and Tanahashi shook each other's hands after the match and wished each other luck in the remainder of the tournament.

Thanks, I appreciate it. This twenty minute video is the best thing ever for understanding what New Japan (the only Japanese promotion I really follow) is about. It's in English and gives a good rundown on the major players and, although it is a few months out of date, is still very useful.

I've really enjoyed the first 2 shows of this tour, your booking Japan fantastically and making good use of otuside talent in the process. My only criticism was that I'd liked to have known a bit more about the tournament matches themselves: Nakajima/KENTA sounds fantastic on paper but was given a sentence pretty much. Though I do like the recap style of these shows, and I also like how you've built the tournament competitors here to. Must also give you props for strong booking of Joe and O'Reilly, they've both looked great over the past 2 shows. Keep up the good work man.
