NWA New York 17/05/2014 Debut Show Results
We begin our show with our announce team, Dave Prazak and Booker T
Prazak: Hello and welcome to the debut of NWA New York, I'm Dave Prazak, and joining me at ringside is Booker T! Booker we have a great night of action coming up don't you think?
Booker: For sure sucka, this shows gonna be off the hook dawg. Its great to be at ringside wit you Prazak, you in my fave five for sure dawg!
Prazak: Well thanks for that Booker, now on with our first matchup as we begin the 1 night tournament to crown our first NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Champion.
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament Quarter Final
Jimmy Yang vs James Gibson
Gibson has been largely forgotten about as a performer in recent years, despite his immense mat wrestling skill, while Yang is another underrated talent who can always deliver an exciting matchup. These two put on an exciting opening contest that wowed the fans, with Yang pulling off some death defying high spots and making Gibson look like a hundred bucks in the process, while Gibson displayed all that crisp matwork that he is capable of, with the fans eating it up. One Gibson Driver following a missed Yang Time by Yang and Gibson would advance to the semi finals.
Winner- James Gibson
We cut backstage to Alex Shelley, who is being interviewed ahead of his match with Justin Gabriel
Shelley: "You know, in the NWA I've often been overlooked. I've had some good opportunities for sure, I did have a brief run as World Junior Heavyweight Champion before Daniel Bryan won the belt, but I always felt I could have done more with that title, and I know I can win it again. Justin Gabriel, I have all the respect in the world for you as a performer, but tonight I'm going to win and earn the NWA New York Junior Heavyweight plus that rematch with you Daniel Bryan!
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament Quarter Final
Justin Gabriel vs Alex Shelley
It was in a way unfortunate that these two got drawn together, as both of these men would be fantastic Junior champions and are both deserving of a spot in the final of the tournament. Only one man could advance though, and they fought hard for that privilege. This actually played out pretty similar to our first match, with Shelley bringing all the great matwork while Gabriel took to the air and wowed the fans with his high spots. The difference was Shelley had some high spots of his own, plus Gabriel displayed a lot of arrogance, perhaps even taking Shelley a bit lightly which was a big mistake. Shelley would hit the Shellshock and that would get him 3 and let him advance.
Winner- Alex Shelley
We cut backstage to Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore.
Hardy: You know what time it is Shannon. Its a time that wrestling fans have been waiting to return for 10 years. Are you ready for the era of Mattitude to return?
Moore: HELL YES!
Hardy: And so am I Shannon. Tonight with my help, my number one MF'er is going to become the NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Champion. Then next week I will win the Heavyweight Title no matter what the rules or who I face! The new NWA New York Heavyweight Champion will be Matt Hardy, Version 1!
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament Quarter Final
Kazarian vs "The Number 1 MF'er" Shannon Moore w/Matt Hardy "Version 1.0"
Matt Hardy fact of the day: Matt Hardy is the man of 1005 holds! Kazarian isn't entirely sure what to make of this, but gets to it and gives Moore a competitive matchup that I enjoyed, a very X-Division style matchup with plenty of excitement throughout. The difference maker was Matt Hardy, who grabbed Kazarian and dropped him with a Twist of Fate when Moore had the ref distracted, allowing Moore to hit the Halo to advance.
Winner- Shannon Moore
Fandango is out on the ramp, dancing away like he just doesn't care. But things take sinister turn when his dancing becomes almost uncontrollable, and Fandango looks worried, like he isn't even in control of what he is doing.
Thats when Dr Thug, the former John Cena, comes out with a remote control in hand.
Thug: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yes that right everybody, I have control of Fandango and his dancing moves. You see Fandango I switched your boots for a special remote controlled pair before you got changed tonight. Now you dance for me monkey, HAHAHAHAHA!
The fans react mixed, some booing, other laughing and enjoying Fandango's torture. Some were even cheering, these fans are sick!
Thug: I can make you do any dance I want, I can even make you do the fandango! AHAHAHAHAHA! Thunderbolts and lightning, VERY VERY FRIGHTENING!
Thug has a crazed look on his face before laughing again and making Fandango do the funky chicken.
Thug: If somebody doesn't save Fandango by next week, then I'm going to make him dance his way off a bridge for my amusement. You'll better bring a lot of ransom money, my research demands it and I really want to drop this guy off that bridge!
Thug leaves, taking Fandango with him, doing the Worm all the way to the back as he cries and shots "please help me". We cut back to Booker and Dave
Prazak: Wow, sheer horror for Fandango, the question is who will come to his rescue Booker?
Booker: I don't think anybody's gonna save him Prazak, he's screwed dawg.
Prazak: You may be right Booker, let's get back to tournament action.
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament Quarter Final
Paul London vs Chris Sabin
A great looking match on paper, this one didn't even get started. London came out looking very annoyed, then kicked Sabin right in the balls when the match started, earning an instant DQ.
Winner- Chris Sabin by DQ
We quickly cut to Prazak and Booker, who look confused.
Prazak: Err, that wasn't in the script, unless it in yours Booker.
Booker: It looks like this sucka is going rogue dawg!
London takes the mic.
London: Really? You seriously put me in the Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament after all I've gone through. I wrestled Christopher Daniels in the main event of Starrcade for the FUCKING NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP! And you have the nerve to put me in the Junior Heavyweight Title tournament. Well screw all of you, and screw you Magnus, I QUIT!
London throws down the mic and leaves via the crowd, and that may very well be it for London in NWA New York already. Though considering the history Magnus has with London, I somehow don't think it'll be that easy.
We cut back to the ring where Booker T is ready to have a showcase match. And because we don't have another color commentator, Booker is going to commentate as he wrestles!
Booker T vs Jobber
As stated above Booker T commentated on the entire matchup while wrestling it, so lets just let him do the writeup. "Oh mah goodness I'm gonna kick you in the face sucka, how'd you like that dawg. Oh yeah, stomp to the face wit da greatest of ease, you not in my fave five anymore sucka. Aww hee we go, the 5 time, 5 time WCW champ is ready, here comes da Spinarronie. What da hale, he getting up and trying to punch me, I'm gonna knock you back down sucka and you gonna stay down. Oh mah goodness, somebody call da police because dis boys about to be dead, Scissors Kick. One two three, shucky ducky quack quack its all over for you sucka!
Winner- Booker T
That was certainly something, now lets get back to the tournament.
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament Semi Final
James Gibson vs Alex Shelley
An utterly fantastic game of chess between two of the best mat wrestlers you will find anywhere, period. These two were completely even in almost every department, exchanging holds and counter holds of the highest standard, with both pretty much cancelling each other out time and time again. Things got more and more desperate as we went along, with Shelley furiously trying to work over the neck to setup for the Border City Stretch, while Gibson worked over the leg in order to try and setup for the Trailer Hitch. And as much as Shelley has a lot of experience at this point, Gibson has that little bit more, when the match reach the end he knew what he needed to do and as Shelley locked that Border City Stretch, he kicked at the leg, with Shelley screaming in pain and loosening the hold. Gibson quickly locked the Trailer Hitch, and with Shelley in the middle of the ring and having no way to reach the neck to break the hold quickly, he had no choice but to tap, Gibson advances!
Winner- James Gibson
We see a video of Michael Elgin training, building himself up for the Heavyweight Title Tournament next week. An announcement about said tournament will be made at the end of the night!
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament Semi Final
"The Number One MF'er" Shannon Moore w/Matt Hardy "Version 1.0" vs Chris Sabin
This played out in a similar fashion to the previous quarter final match between Moore and Kazarian, with Sabin generally looking the better man in a competitive matchup that went back and forth. And much like that match, Hardy was a decisive factor, getting involved constantly and hitting Sabin with a Twist of Fate near the end as Moore had the ref distracted. Moore took full advantage yet again, hitting a Mooregasm and advancing to the final!
Winner- Shannon Moore
Corporate Commissioner Kane makes his way to the ring, shaking hands with some fans on the way and looking very smart in a suit and tie it has to be said.
Kane: Thank you fans, it really is a pleasure to be here. You might be wondering why The Big Red Machine is in this get up, well its for a very good reason. I'm running for the presidency of the United States of America!
American patriotic music starts playing as trumpet players and cheerleaders walk around ringside, and confetti drops from the ceiling. Bob Backlund also walks around ringside thanking the fans for their support in a random cameo appearance.
Before Kane can do anything more, the lights go out.
Booker: What da hale, Prazak did you forget the electric bill again?
The lights come back on and The Undertaker is in the ring. He grabs Kane, Chokeslam! He gives the cut throat motion before picking up Kane and dropping him with a Tombstone, before posing in the ring to the delight of the fans.
Prazak: Well The Phenom clearly has no time for his brother's dabbling in politics.
Booker: I don't know what da hale is going on man, the laights go out and then da Undertaker appears in the ring like he's in some damn magic show. I'm getting da hale out of here before I get killed dawg.
Booker throws down his headset and runs up the ramp in a state of utter panic and all the way backstage. The sound of a car starting and driving away followed by a plane flying overhead seem to indicate Booker has run for the hills! Prazak will be commentating on his own for the main event.
NWA New York Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament Final
James Gibson vs "The Number One MF'er" Shannon Moore w/Matt Hardy "Version 1.0"
Initially we looked like we were going to see the same thing yet again as Hardy immediately started getting himself involved and trying to interfere against Gibson. This time however the referee wasn't having any of it, he sent Matt Hardy to the back and threatened to DQ Moore right there and then if he didn't leave. Hardy wasn't happy obviously but he complied, leaving Moore on his own with a downed Gibson. Moore threw all he had at Gibson, getting some near falls, but Gibson fought back, grounding Moore and putting him in hold after hold. Following a Gibson Driver, he would get 3 and win himself the title!
Winner- James Gibson
Gibson celebrates the win like its the biggest of his career even though I know he's had wins far bigger than this, but if Gibson goes on to win the World Junior Heavyweight Title when he gets his shot it could be one of the most important. Daniel Bryan gets into the ring, having watched at ringside for the entire night, and shakes Gibson's hand, raises it in victory before wishing him luck in their match when the time comes.
Magnus D then heads for the ring, replacing Kane who is out of commission.
Magnus: Next week wrestling fans, in order to decide who our first NWA New York Heavyweight Champion will be, we will see the return of something we haven't seen in the NWA for close to a year now, something so dangerous that it hasn't been repeated. It will be an 8 man tournament for the title, but not just any old tournament. It will be the EXTREME LEAGUE! That means no rules, no limits, just 8 men beating the hell out of each other in singles matches until 1 man is left standing!
The fans love this announcement, and that is one hell of a way to end our 1st show, see you next week wrestling fans for a violent night of action!
