NORWALK, CONNECTICUT
JULY 1, 2014
The sounds of "Man in the Box" by Alice in Chains hits the speakers and the fans erupt as out walks "The Hardcore Icon" himself, Tommy Dreamer, to resounding cheers from the fans here in Norwalk. Dreamer gets in the ring and says, "I'm gonna keep this short and sweet." He goes on to say that Rene Dupree feels real confident about his chances of leaving "Summer Reign" with his title now that he has his "little buddy from Japan" watching his back. Well, Dreamer says tonight he's going to make sure he gets the best possible opponent for that show, as there is going to be a one night tournament to decide who he will face, and that tournament begins next!
#1 CONTENDERSHIP TO THE OVERDRIVE HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
Adam Cole vs. Austin Aries vs. Frankie Kazarian
TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
Adam Cole vs. Austin Aries vs. Frankie Kazarian
The match would start off with each man obviously wary of their opponents, as Aries would quickly strike Kazarian and Cole would back pedal and head to the outside, deciding to play this one cool and pick his spots, raising the ire of the crowd as they booed his antics. Aries and Kazarian would end up deciding to team up on the slimy Cole, who kept trying to take opportunistic advantage and gain the victory. Kazarian and Aries would actually look pretty good in their double teaming efforts, hitting a number of tandem moves to send Cole reeling and put a real hurt on him. Aries would manage to gain back advantage of the match after he and Kazarian sent Cole out of the ring, delivering a vicious Dropkick into the corner to Kazarian and following up with a super stiff Brainbuster to get the three count and advance!
TAG TEAM MATCH
Brian Cage & Caleb Konley w/ Christy Hemme vs. Kenny King & Rhett Titus
Brian Cage & Caleb Konley w/ Christy Hemme vs. Kenny King & Rhett Titus
Kenny King and Rhett Titus make their way out to the ring looking confident and relaxed, showboating for the crowd and getting a good number of the audience behind them, but despite their years of teaming together and all of their arrogance, they were not ready for what was to come. Cage and Konley came out on a mission after losing to the Briscoes last week and they put a real hurting on their opponents tonight, showing real dominance and power. King would try to rally his team back into the match near the end, but Brian Cage would counter some offense into his Weapon X finisher, following up by flying to the outside onto Titus, which would leave King open to get caught up in Konley's deadly Oh! Face Pendulum Crab, and it was all over. King had to tap, and Cage and Konley pick up another win over another seasoned team in their quest to become the undisputed North American Tag Team champions.

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
BJ Whitmer vs. Seth Rollins vs. Jay Lethal w/ Veda Scott
TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
BJ Whitmer vs. Seth Rollins vs. Jay Lethal w/ Veda Scott
Talk about a star studded contest as Rollins and Lethal, along with his new piece of arm candy, make their debuts tonight against a man who's been burning up the ring here lately in BJ Whitmer. Whitmer has already won a tournament similar to this recently, but due to interference from Chris Dickinson he wasn't able to secure victory over Rene Dupree to win the championship. Now, back in the hunt, he looked very good against two very good opponents in Rollins and Lethal. Lethal was perhaps the most heelish of all, which may come as a surprise to some, as he laid into Whitmer and Rollins with dirty shots and trash talk, trying to show a new sort of attitude here and it seemed to be pretty effective. Rollins is always super dangerous, and looked to be very close to winning this match by hitting his version of a Curb Stomp on Lethal near the end, but Whitmer would make the save, flying in with a Single Leg Dropkick to rock Rollins, followed by a brutal Lariat that flipped Rollins inside out! Lethal would make his way up a knee, groggy from having his face stomped to the mat, and from there caught a Sliding Lariat from the fiery Whitmer, a man who was on an absolute mission, and "The Buzzsaw" was able to get the three count from there and advance to the finals to face Austin Aries!
SINGLES MATCH
Roderick Strong w/ Biff Busick vs. Bobby Fish w/ Anthony Nese
Roderick Strong w/ Biff Busick vs. Bobby Fish w/ Anthony Nese
The fans were in for a real treat here, but it was clear that Strong was super over and Fish had a big hill to climb to gain their favor. Strong and Busick will be taking on Fish and Nese to become the first ever Overdrive Tag Team champions, so this was a bit of a preview that had a lot of pride on the line. Fish would show that he could hang with the ever impressive Strong, coming back with a high impact series of moves on the floor after taking a beating from the "Messiah of the Backbreaker", hitting a Saito Suplex on the mat and then coming off the apron with a Missile Dropkick that sent Strong flying into the crowd!
The match would head back into the ring with Fish in control. Fish would attempt a running High Kick to the corner, but Strong would catch his leg and send him down hard with a Backbreaker variation. Strong would catch Fish with a Running High Knee, then attempted a Strong Breaker, but Fish would reverse it with a knee to the face and then deliver a big Falcon's Arrow for a two count. Fish would then attempt his Jumping Roundhouse Kick, but Strong would duck it and catch Fish with a flurry of blows, ending in a Spinning Back Chop, followed by a Half Nelson Backbreaker and then he locks on the Strong Hold! Fish would struggle, but managed to get the bottom rope to break the hold.
Strong looked desperate and seemed to be looking for a Powerbomb or perhaps a Power Breaker, but Fish would flip over it, hitting a Sunset Flip but rolling through and then delivering a blazing Roundhouse Kick to Strong's temple! Fish would then gesture to the fans, getting a pop as he leaped to the top turnbuckle in a single bound and came down hard on Strong with a Moonsault! Fish would hook the leg, but only a two count! Fish would once again try for a Jumping Roundhouse Kick, but Strong would once again duck it, grabbing him and delivering a Death by Roderick! Roderick rolls up as Fish staggers, hurting bad but he's not down. Roderick rushes and catches him with the Sick Kick! Roderick pins him, and it's all over! What a heated contest, and the tag championship match to come on the 16th should be no different!
SIX WOMAN TAG TEAM MATCH
AJ Lee, Jessicka Havok, and Mercedes Martinez vs. Sarah Stock, Portia Perez, and LuFisto
The Canadian team of Stock, Perez, and LuFisto had the fans behind them tonight, and they looked absolutely phenomenal. Lee, Havok, and Martinez were very menacing, and they would put a hurting on their opponents, but the team work and energy of the team, lead by Stock, seemed to pay off. Stock will be competing for Lee's World Women's championship on the 16th at "Summer Reign", and she managed to pick up the win for her team tonight, planting Martinez with a big Tiger Driver for a three count. Lee would grab her title and make her way up the ramp, trying to avoid any unneeded harm as the match was winding down, content to save her own skin then try to save Martinez or continue fighting, getting jeers from the crowd because of it.
Jimmy Jacobs is next to make his way out to the ring, accompanied by his entourage of Seleziya Sparx and Delirious. Delirious is wearing his newly won Overdrive X Division championship around his neck as they make their way out, and they are not getting a favorable reaction from this Norwalk crowd. Jacobs gets on the mic and says he made his championship aspirations known, and now it is time to act on them. He says he challenges anyone in the back, because it is time to prove what he already knows... that he is the best in this locker room or any other!
"Chris is Awesome!" begins to play and these fans go nuts as Chris Hero makes his way out, holding his South Beach Heavyweight belt in hand. Hero says that while that championship means the world to him, he's won many titles around the world, and he too feels like it's his time to get into the World title picture. He says he and Jacobs have crossed paths hundreds of times over the years, and like most of those times, tonight he's going to be the living Hell out the little gremlin, and this time, he's going to stake his claim to his own World championship!
SINGLES MATCH
Jimmy Jacobs w/ Seleziya Sparx & Delirious vs. Chris Hero
Jimmy Jacobs w/ Seleziya Sparx & Delirious vs. Chris Hero
Jacobs would start very hot against Hero, showing a lot of fire and doing everything in his power, pulling out every dirty trick and taking every shot he could to keep Hero off of his game and keep the pressure on him. Hero would manage to low bridge Jacobs on a clothesline attempt near the ropes, sending Jacobs tumbling to the outside. Delirious and Seleziya would try to pull Jacobs up, but Hero would manage to fly out of the ring and take out all three with a big Suicida! The South Beach champion would lay a beating on Jacobs from there, hitting big hit after big move before grinding Jacobs into the mat and trying to make him tap. Delirious would look like he was going to jump in and attack Hero, but the referee got in the way of it and tried to send him back to the outside. From there, Seleziya would come up behind Hero and deliver a fatal looking low blow, sending his man parts up into his throat, which allowed Jacobs to catch Hero with a DDT into a Guillotine Choke, body scissoring and getting the choke out win!
Jacobs, Delirious, and Seleziya taunt Hero as they pose over him, and it looks like a powerful trio has been formed here. One thing is for sure... Hero is going to be out for revenge.
#1 CONTENDERSHIP TO THE OVERDRIVE HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
SINGLES MATCH
BJ Whitmer vs. Austin Aries
SINGLES MATCH
BJ Whitmer vs. Austin Aries
Both men had already wrestled a match, and both had to overcome great odds to make it this far, but they both seemed primed and ready for action as the bell sounded. Aries had a lot of hop and skip in his step, and he came charging in, really trying to take it to "The Buzzsaw" early by using his speed advantage to try and counteract Whitmer's size and power. Aries would have Whitmer reeling early on, his strategy working, and would deliver a rocket-like Suicide Dive through the ropes to get these fans on their feet!
Aries would try keep the heat on, but Whitmer would grab him by the tights and fall back, sending him face first into the guardrail! Whitmer would continue to keep the heat on, Gutwrenching him up and sending him head first into the turnpost with a swing, and then slamming the back of his head into the guardrail with another swing, causing everyone in the building to cringe! Whitmer takes a moment, taking in the atmosphere and regaining composure, before sending Aries back into the ring and heading up top... and he hits the Diving Headbutt! Whitmer goes for the win, but he can't keep Aries down!
Aries fights back hard and manages to really rock Whitmer, sending him into the buckles and then coming in hard with a Running Dropkick! Aries attempts his Brainbuster, but Whitmer breaks out and hits an Exploder Suplex into the buckles! Whitmer hooks the leg, but only a two! Whitmer lifts up Aries, looking for a Wrist-Clutch Exploder, but Aries breaks free and after a struggle delivers a Death Valley Driver, getting a two count himself! Aries taunts the fans and the fans rally behind him, leading to Aries trying for a Brainbuster again and he gets it! But he's not done! Aries heads up to the top turnbuckle, and he comes off the top looking to nail his 450 Splash, but Whitmer gets up the knees!
Whitmer staggers up, and he motions to Aries who is making his way up to his feet, stumbling as he clutches his ribs. Whitmer rushes and attempts a Lariat, but Aries ducks it. Whitmer turns and Aries catches him with a spinkick to the midsection. Aries grabs him in and he tries for the Brainbuster yet again, but Whitmer breaks free and tries for another Exploder, but Aries breaks out of it and jumps up behind Whitmer, catching him and delivering the Crucifix Bomb! Aries floats over and delivers a series of knees to Whitmer's head and then flips over with the Last Chancery! Whitmer is hurting, but he doesn't seem to want to quit! He hangs on and doesn't relent, and Aries flips back over him. Aries grabs him up and once again attempts a Brainbuster, but Whitmer counters with a series of knees, followed by three huge inside elbows, and then he hooks Aries in... Wrist-Clutch Fisherman's Buster!
Whitmer hooks the leg, and Aries just can't get the shoulder up! Whitmer gets the win, and will now be facing Rene Dupree for the Overdrive Heavyweight championship at "Summer Reign"!
Whitmer and Aries get a huge ovation from the crowd, and after some consideration, they shake hands in the middle of the ring... that is until the whole ordeal is broken up by KENTA! KENTA hits the ring with Rene Dupree close behind! KENTA catches Whitmer with the Single Leg High Knee, taking him down. Aries goes for the attack, but KENTA manages to catch him with a striking rush, followed another running Single Leg High Knee!
Dupree heads in with a microphone and looks to speak, but into the ring comes CHRIS DICKINSON, and "THE DIRTY DADDY" has a chair in hand! Dickinson catches KENTA from behind, sending him to the outside, before smashing Rene to the gut with it! Dickinson then tosses the chair down, and he grabs up Rene and lifts him... BRAINEATER ON THE CHAIR! Dickinson gets a huge ovation here, but there is palpable tension between he and Whitmer as Whitmer restores his composure.
Dickinson just backs out and leaves, resisting the urge to kick his heated rival while he is down after avenging their mutual beatdown from the last show as this one comes to a close.
