Read this a few days ago but just re-read as I enjoyed it alot, and wanted to give some comments.
I'm maybe a strange one in that I'm not that invested in Samoa Joe as a talent these days, if it was 2006 I'd be down for it but Joe doesn't excite me or scream World Champion these days (I'm always reading Joe matches with my early 2000s rose-tinted spectacles on!) so if a decent challenger was built up I'd probably be voting him out but good match none the less.
The Rock looks good coming out of this, be interesting to see if he can be built any further or if he's just used as a means-to-an end to push Clay. If The Rock could be pushed to the next level in our world, then now would be a good time to try and see what you can do with him given his momentum.
Personally I would rather have protected Brodus from taking a 3 count with his shoulders down on NWA iPPV even in tags, I'd rather have done that match regionally if it had to happen with a Clay loss and kept Clay strong on NWA wide shows with perhaps a singles win over The Rock or perhaps Cena.
As it was booked on the card, I would have much preferred something along the lines of Brodus dominating...Cena loses to Rock after some shenanigans, and then have The Rock really taunt Brodus from the ramp which pushes a seething Clay to really beat down on Cena, a beat-down so bad it perhaps troubles The Rock with how ferocious it it.
Brodus could then whittle off a big singles win in New York over John Cena after a small mini-feud, while The Rock does babyface stuff trying to prove he's not scared of big bad brodus and then in a big match on next NWA PPV Clay could beat a spirited Rock clean. This would have then IMO put Clay in a prime position to challenge for big NWA Gold.
But as it played out will be interesting to see how things pan out and if things get tweaked given the reactions given here.
