NWA United Show 5

[Dustin Smith]

The show opens with the PM of NWA United, Nigel McGuinness looking severly annoyed as he skulks to the ring with a mic in hand.

Nigel: It seems our NWA President has gotten a bit senile in his old age... Johnny Moss come to the ring.

It takes a moment but a worried Moss comes out with Dean Ayass.

Nigel: You put the crown up for a chance at Samoa Joe and you lost. So you need to hand over the crown.

Moss flips out and so does Ayass but after some "subtle coaxing" from PM Nigel McGuinness who threatens to decapitate Moss with his jawbreaker lariat the former champion relinquishes the crown.

Ayass: So that means that we don't have anyone facing Barrett for the crown, why not put Moss in the main event to challenge for the crown? He was never beaten for it you know.

Nigel: I don't think that's going to happen. But tonight Moss will have a contenders match and he'll be facing "The Celtic Warrior" Sheamus!

Johnny Moss almost literally shits bricks as his jaw drops. Ayass always the thinker tries to calm down his client whispering something in his ear.

SINGLES BOUT
Rusev w/ The Embassy vs. Emil Sitoci

Sitoci wasn't sure who his opponent was, but he looked sick when he saw Rusev and the Embassy coming out to the ring. Sitoci tried to scurry but got grabbed by the back of his trunks by Rusev who would kill him with a huge suplex! Emil looked stunned as he staggered into a kick from Rusev that nearly took his head off! The finish didn't take long as Rusev locked in the camel clutch for the academic victory!

TAG TEAM BOUT
The Slayers(Tyson T-Bone & Tommy End) vs. Sinister Rampage(Rampage Brown & Kenneth Cameron)

This was the debut of T-Bone, and a turning point in the career for End, who looked to have a renewed vigor with this teaming. The Sinister Rampage looked to have finally met their match as The Slayers came into this match hitting as hard and as fast as the Rampage. Tommy End would survive the standing spinebuster from Brown and Cameron would survive the Wrist clutch exploder from T-Bone! The match continued with both teams unloading their arsenals on each other with Tommy hitting his ace cutter transition into the Dragon Sleeper but before Cameron could submit the time limit expired.


Nigel would come out again applauding the effort by both teams as he announced that this match was so great that these two teams will face off at X for the chance to become the NWA United tag team champions!

SINGLES BOUT
"The East End Tough Man" Sha Samuels vs. Antonio Cesaro

Cesaro had to have his head on a swivel because Danny Burch was on commentary tonight at ringside. Burch did his best on commentary to be a right prick to Cesaro which took his X ppv opponent out of the match a few times which gave Samuels a lot of chances to take the match in his favor. Samuels would slap on his swinging sleeper hold trying to whip Cesaro around for the submission but Cesaro would fight out of the brutal hold and muscle up Samuels for the pop up european uppercut! Cesaro would point at Burch before giving Samuels the big swing dumping him unceremoniously before going to talk more smack to Burch. Cesaro would end up getting a beer thrown in his face by Burch which allowed for Samuels to batter the swiss superman with clubbing blows! The ref would eject Burch from ringside as Danny argued the whole way up the ramp with the ref. The match continued with Samuels dominating Cesaro with a brutal smash mouth offense until Cesaro came back with a big clothesline! Cesaro wanted to finish the match with the nuetralizer but Burch would come through the crowd this time! The ref tried to stop him but got bowled over as Cesaro and Burch would battle it out in the middle of the ring! Security and staff would storm the ring pulling both men apart!

#1 CONTENDERS BOUT
"The Boss" Johnny Moss w/ Dean Ayass vs. "The Celtic Warrior" Sheamus

Sheamus got a great pop from the crowd as everyone in attendence wanted to see Moss get the beating of his life! Moss would avoid any contact with Sheamus taking a few powders allowing for Dean to help direct him through this match up. Sheamus would eventually get annoyed, following Moss to the outside where he'd try to kill Moss with a brogue kick! Moss would move and Sheamus would hurt himself kicking the ring post! Moss was all over Sheamus at this point attacking the injured leg of Sheamus like a pitbull. Sheamus would fight him off but the damage was done as Sheamus had to hobble in this one. Sheamus with one leg is still a very dangerous man as he fought through the pain nearly taking the win after his cross backbreaker! Sheamus tried to shake off the leg pain calling for the brogue kick but Moss would duck and follow up with a huge bridging german suplex for a near fall! Moss was stunned but Ayass would coach him onwards and Sheamus looked to be in a lot of troube, but was able to thread Moss through the ropes for the clubbing blows to the chest before bellowing out a roar trying to fire himself up to finish off Moss. Sheamus would finally blast Moss with a brogue kick but Moss would put his foot on the rope to break the count! Sheamus was extremely frustrated looking to put Moss away with a crucifix bomb but Moss would wiggle free and put Sheamus away with a second german suplex!

After the match Moss was so excited that he'd be getting a chance at the crown once more, but he wasn't paying attention to Ayass who was trying to motion for Johnny to look behind him! Moss would finally turn around and get the beating off a lifetime from "The Contract Killer" Magnus! Moss completely screwed over Magnus prior to his match against Samoa Joe and Magnus was here to make him pay! The locker room had to empty this time as Magnus was throwing off staff and security as he tried to end the career of Moss!

I feel as though Moss’s challenge of Samoa Joe was ill-timed but a clean victory over the former World Champion does a lot for him. The ending of the show is a little overdone but is a classic wrestling scene, so what can you do? Speaking of which, I’m not a fan of the final two matches ending with either security or wrestlers stopping a brawl. I’ve been guilty of using the same thing multiple times on a show (in my case it was multiple sneak attacks) and it really kills the flow for me. The Slayers and Sinister Rampage should be a good rematch at X. I think Sinister Rampage will pull that victory out.

In building towards the PPV, I think the whole brawls being broken up thing sort of works here pretty well; I didn't expect Moss to go over Sheamus clean, though, that was interesting and really makes him look good. This new team of End and T-Bone add even more vigor to an already pretty damn good tag team scene, so I'm excited to see the rematch between them and the Rampage at X.

I usually don't see an issue with it, I think it might stand out more to some because it was back to back and there was only 4 matches so it came off as half the show.

Moss's win here over Sheamus was pretty important. I personally don't think the crown has been booked well so far given all that happened through the first 4 shows, which could have been a great story over a longer period. This could maybe be the start of a turn around for me, a reset of sorts. Moss vs Barrett to fill the vacancy, and hopefully the winner there can give it some stability and now that it has been fully established you can trade it in for a World Title shot and it won't be a surprise again, build towards that opportunity this time around. It could be a really big World Title match if given the chance and the players vying for the crown to help build that talent up. The thing about the pull aparts that maybe puts me off a bit from what Joe pointed out as them building towards the PPV, is that Barrett and Moss is the match, not Magnus and Moss which was the pull apart. I don't know if you have any shows planned in between now and then, but might be good to get Barrett in there for something with Moss as "Bad News" just feels like a third wheel right now as all the build with Moss has centered on the feud with Magnus, which has a lot more heat to it given the more personal nature.

The card for X is looking like it should be a good card right now. Cesaro vs Burch and Scurll vs Sabre both have a good background to them, and the Ultimate X could be a great read given the participants. Hopefully it gets some good time in the sense of a write up as I will be honest, I don't think I have ever read 1 in fantasy stuff (or if I have here, I have completely forgotten it).

I was hoping that Moss putting up the crown would have had a nice surprise factor, in a world full of people "smart" to the business I tried to throw a curve ball. I'm also trying to throw in some layers, Moss has really made a lot of enemies and he's either going to regain his crown when he faces Barrett or he's going to get his ass handed to him by Barrett then by Magnus. Plus you've got Kincaide as a wild card who has a very long standing hate for the former king of UNITED.

I actually like the pull apart with Burch and Cesaro as it helps build Burch who lacks the name value in that match. It is the opposite for me in the Moss and Magnus pull apart. I also think it makes Barrett look like a third wheel but it also overshadows a good win for Moss which he needs as he also lacks the name value. I like the decision surrounding the Tag Team Championships and Ultimate X is shaping up really nice.
