The fans don't have to wait long here in Jacksonville to get what was promised in Estero, as out to the ring walks Dontay Brown, where a table is set up and chairs are in place. It is now time for the official contract signing of the current NWA World Tag Team champions, Los Hijos del Terror!
Ring announcer Jeremy Borash does the honors of introducing both Rush and Texano, who come out wearing dark duster type jackets over their title belts strapped around their wastes, while Rush carries a chain in hand and Texano carries a noose in his. Leading the way is none other than the Dark Angel, who is wearing black leather and a flaming red, revealing top, her eyes darkened with thick eye liner and she looks like she's ready to get down to business.
Dark Angel takes the microphone from Jeremy Borash and gives Hijos del Terror a further introduction, talking up their undefeated streak that spans the entire Southwest and Mexico, and how they demolished one of the most respected teams in wrestling win the titles they hold, the Briscoe Brothers! Dark Angel goes on to tell Brown and the committee in charge of NWA Florida that they had better be careful what they wish for, because now that they have Hijos del Terror, their roster will suffer the consequences!
Brown assures her that the committee is aware of their outstanding accolades, and they are fully prepared to provide them the highest quality of challengers. Angel has Rush and Texano have a seat, and Brown waits in anticipation. After some mulling over, they both sign their names to their documents, and Brown announces that, "There you have it!" and so on and so forth. The fans give an obligatory applause, and Angel tries to go on another tirade, but Brown cuts her off.
Brown goes on to say that he assured her that her tag team would have the best possible talent to face, and tonight, he'd like to introduce them to their first challengers to the belts, scheduled for next month as NWA Florida will be making their debut in Orlando... "ladies and gentlemen, I give to you... THE ROCKSTARS OF WRESTLING!"
The sounds of "Wildside" by Motley Crue hit the speakers, and out first is Lena Yada, wearing a very short plaid skirt and a tied off white button up, sporting pig tails these evening and handling a red, cherry flavored sucker, looking all school girlish as she then turns and presents the former World Tag Team champions, Jimmy Rave and John Morrison, the Rockstars of Wrestling! Rave and Morrison are both sporting flashy jackets and sunglasses, and don't seem to look too impressed with El Hijos del Terror as they strut up to the ring as the crowd cheers them on.
It's been awhile, and it seems like the fans have grown fond of them in their absence.
Once in the ring, Yada snatches the mic from Dark Angel, who looks about ready to burst before yelling at a smiling Dontay Brown, who doesn't dignify her remarks with a rebuttal. Yada goes on to say that there is only one most dominant tag team in wrestling, and right now, Losers del Terrible are looking at them! For one year they held those belts, and they lost in a fluke to those dumb rednecks the Briscoes, but on November 14th, it's not going to be a fluke when Rush and Texano feel the next smash hit from the greatest group to ever step into a wrestling ring, Jimmy Rave and John Morrison, the Rockstars!
Dark Angel looks like she might yet again try to say something, but all of this interrupted by a very unwelcome sound. The voice of none other than Larry Dallas, who is leading out Vik Dalishus and Hale Collins, otherwise known as The NOW. Brown asks Dallas not so nicely what he wants, and Dallas seems taken aback. He speaks of betrayal, of Brown and the committee going behind his back, and seeing big dollar signs instead of the big picture! He says The NOW are the only undefeated team in Florida, and they should be facing the newly signed undefeated team of the place holders known as Hijos del Toros, or is it Terror? Whatever it is, they are just holding those belts for Dalishus and Collins, according to Dallas!
These claims are all very laughable, but Dallas and The NOW seem deadly serious. Brown says that tonight, he'll grant them a match with The Rockstars of Wrestling to prove what they've got, once and for all. If they lose, he doesn't want to hear another word about it. Dallas seems upset by this, stating they have already earned the shot, but they'll show the Rockstars that their past reign is over, and the future is The NOW!
Morrison and Rave make the mistake of taking their eyes off Texano and Rush, and this leads to them getting smashed to the back of the head with the tag team title belts! The NOW and Dallas look very pleased by this, waving sarcastically as Dark Angel proceeds to slap Yada down and stomp her, and the World Tag Team champions and their valet split before Brown can call out security, having already made their statement.
Agents and staff help the Rockstars and Yada out of the ring as Borash heads back in and prepares to introduce the contestants in the first match of the evening.
"Showtime" JB Cool vs. "The Rainmaker" Ryan Oshun
JB Cool manages to defeat Ryan Oshun after taking a lot of punishment from the full time military fitness trainer, reversing an attempt at a Full Nelson Slam and hitting a Side Effect to get the three count. After the match, out came Kenny King, who attacked JB Cool from behind! King leaves the ring to a chorus of boos, but he brushes them off, smiling and one has to wonder what he is so damn proud of.
Leva Bates vs. Mercedes Martinez
Bates had the crowd behind her, but the hard hitting Martinez just wouldn't relent. Martinez would show her power, lifting and running with Bates, then drilling her with a Fisherman's Buster to get the three count in a short, clean contest.
As Bates holds her neck on the way out, some music hits and to the ring come JD Maverick and Jonny Vandal to boos from this Jacksonville crowd, who seem acutely aware of the actions of both men the last couple of shows. Maverick goes on to take the microphone and he says he wants to set the record straight. Maverick says that he is tired of coming into a promotion, building it up, putting in all of the work, and then having some has been come in and steal all of the credit, all of the limelight, the biggest purse of the night, and act like he did it all on his own!
Maverick says that guys like Shane Helms are nothing but phonies, and guys like Maverick and Vandal are the backbone of any great promotion! He hands off the mic to Vandal, who says that this promotion isn't a great one, though, because they fall for the same crap every other place does, paying out all of their money to mediocre guys who may have been great once, but sure as Hell ain't now, and ignore the real talent who puts the asses in the seats! And now these "marks" in the back like James Alexander and Derek Ryze, two young punks who are still wet behind the ears, a couple of green horns who think Shane Helms invented the Superkick, they want to stand up for him like he's some hero.
Maverick takes the mic back and says that this is the real world, and Helms might be somebody's hero, and he might be some kind of legend, but while the story of a legend may live on, legends also die every day. Helms should have quit while he was ahead, while he was on top, but he came to Florida and stepped on the wrong guys to get his spot at the top, and now a couple of young punks are going to pay the price in blood. Vandal goes on to say that the blood is on Helms' hands, and every other so-called "big star" who wants to take money out of their pockets, food off their table, and hold them back! They are the ones to blame for what is to come!
The fans boo as Maverick and Vandal leave smugly, feeling dignified in their message and statements, which sounds an awful lot like crap to everybody else with any common sense.
Lince Dorado vs. Trent Baretta
These two faced off last week in Estero, and they put on such a good show that the committee decided to have them go at it again here in the bigger town of Jacksonville. Dorado would employ his lucha inspired style yet again, but it was Baretta who made the change, looking more determined and less cocky this tme around. The story wasn't as good, but the action was more intense. Dorado would have a pretty bad slip at one point, crashing and burning to the outside on a Plancha attempt, and that blown spot stood out like a sore thumb. This would only make Baretta look better in his rebound victory this week, as he would catch Dorado with knees as he attempted a Shooting Star Press yet again to try to finish him off, following that with his Gobstopper to knock the Puerto Rican star out cold for the three count.
"Bad Influence" Frankie Kazarian vs. Manik
This match had a similar dynamic to the previous contest, but was done much better. The former World Jr. Heavyweight champion, Kazarian, has had a real change of attitude lately, and it's a bad one. He showed this mean streak against Jay Lethal in what was a very competitive match, and he was able to come out on top. This week he had the exciting, enigmatic Manik to deal with, but showed that he was just a little bit better once again. Manik would take a lot of punishment throughout, as Kazarian was mostly able to keep the pacing where he wanted it and never truly let Manik break free and go full speed. Manik would rally near the end with a Satellite Bulldog, sending Kazarian to the apron groggily, but Kazarian would avoid a shoulder thrust to his midsection with a knee to Manik's face. Kazarian would follow up with a hard Slingshot DDT, finishing things off with a Fade to Black, pinning Manik lackadaisically, laying back with his hands behind his head and looking smug as the ref counted to three. While technically acting like a heel, Kazarian seems to be getting some fanfare for his "too cool for school" routine, mostly because of how impressive his victories are and the fact he doesn't seem to care about it, not wasting any time letting the referee raised his hand or even acknowledge the fans at all, just slinging his leather jacket over his shoulder and strutting off into the proverbial sunset.
Intermission - Meet and greet with the faces. The Rockstars of Wrestling sign autographs while nursing their wounds, and then vow to take out the NOW and then get their belts back, getting a cheer from these Jacksonville fans!
Before the next match, a competitor in our main event for the North American title, "Mr. Handle That" Mike Facen, steps out and he gets a so-so reaction. He's a pretty impressive looking guy, but he's not all that over just yet. He tries to get over, but his generic remarks about tonight being the biggest match of his career and being ready for the challenge go over like a lead balloon.
The segment is some what saved by Mark Jindrak, the North American champion, who gets some decent fanfare. Jindrak gets the crowd to turn on him, insulting Facen and his lack of experience, and his lack of being in WCW, which is a place Mark Jindrak says he was a star, "when men were men and stars were stars, not like these losers Maverick and Vandal who want to wine about their spot!" This gets the fans to cheer for him, as they really dislike Maverick and Vandal, but he gets them back on the right side of this, saying a guy like Facen could have never made it in the PowerPlant, let alone on Nitro, and tonight, he's going to show why Mark Jindrak is a real star, and why Mike Facen should be paying for a ticket to see him, not wrestling in a ring with him!
This gets the fans feeling sympathetic for Facen, who seems determined now to prove he belongs in the ring with a star the caliber of Jindrak, and we are all interested to see how he fares now.
Jon Davis vs. Raymond Rowe
These men both lost to Mike Facen last week in a match to determine who would face Mark Jindrak this week, and most of the fans thought that either one of them would have made more sense for an opponent for the North American champion. Regardless, they lost due to double count out and that's what happens when things get out of control. The same thing happened here tonight, as these two just couldn't keep their tough guy, machismo driven brawling in the ring, trying to prove who is the toughest once again and trying to tear each other limb from limb. The referee had to throw this out, but the fans really seemed to enjoy the aggressive display.
The NOW (Vik Dalishus & Hale Collins) w/ Larry Dallas vs. The Rockstars of Wrestling (Jimmy Rave & John Morrison) w/ Lena Yada
This match strayed almost into comedy match territory, as The NOW really made The Rockstars look like a million bucks in this squash. There was a lot of stalling and powdering from The NOW, as they took instructions from Dallas and tried to do what they could, only mounting any real offense on two occasions after hitting cheap shots and then took double team opportunities. The Rockstars would eventually take complete control, and Yada would get a huge pop as she low blowed Dallas as he complained to the ref on the apron, sending him out of this match for good. The Rockstars would hit their finisher, the Eruption (Superplex/Frog Splash Combo) on Dalishus to get the three count, looking great in their debut, not having lost a step. Los Hijos del Terror had better take note!
James Alexander & Derek Ryze vs. Jonny Vandal & JD Maverick
Alexander and Ryze obviously heard what Vandal and Maverick had to say earlier, and they seemed extra driven tonight. The match itself didn't last long, though, as Vandal and Maverick would get themselves disqualified. Maverick would end up taking the ring bell from the time keeper and smashed Ryze right in the face with it before he could land a Buzzsaw kick to Vandal. From there, Vandal would put down Alexander with a Hammerlock Backbreaker, and set him up as Maverick went up top and came crashing down on Alexander with a ring bell assisted Flying Elbowdrop! Alexander's head was busted open from this, making the words of Maverick and Vandal stand out much more ominously as they leave a pool of blood in their wake.
Before the next match, Jeremy Borash announces that, "Ladies and gentlemen, the Rockstars have left the building!" to some comedic effect as the ring crew prepares for the main event.
NWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE
Mark Jindrak (c) vs. "Mr. Handle That" Mike Facen
Mike Facen has decent size, so he was able to match up with Jindrak somewhat, though Jindrak was still bigger, stronger, and more agile. It was clear who the superior specimen was, but it was also clear who had more heart and drive. Facen just kept coming back from everything Jindrak threw at him, and kept trying to take down the North American champion, sending fist after fist into the ribs of the man billed from Atlanta, GA, trying to break him down and secure a major upset tonight. Jindrak would seem to wear down and ate a big Powerslam from Facen, who seemed desperate. "Mr. Handle That" would head up top, coming off the buckle with a Crossbody and would get a two count on Jindrak, taking the air out of the room as the fans anticipate a shock title change here. Jindrak is able to catch Facen charging into the corner with a boot and then comes off the ropes with a Springboard Clothesline, the fans now thinking Jindrak has it, but Facen shows his guts by kicking out just in the nick of time! Jindrak calls for the end and attempts to pull Facen up and into the Mark of Excellence, but Facen flips over and turns him, kicking him and trying to pull him up into a Jackhammer, but Jindrak uses a knee to the face to reverse it. Jindrak lifts up Facen and slams him down with a Mark of Excellence near the ropes, covers him without hooking the leg. The referee is out of position and doesn't see Facen's foot on the ropes, but everyone else does! Jindrak gets the three count and retains, but Facen just got robbed! Facen tries to argue his case as the fans boo, but Jindrak leaves triumphantly with his title, waving off the fans and smiling in major satisfaction as his reign stays in tact.
