November 7th, 2014 - Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, FL
The show opens tonight here at the Tampa Convention Center with the General Manager of NWA Florida, MVP, making his way out to the ring to cheers from the audience. MVP says there's been a lot of chaos and turmoil tonight, and he expects there is a lot more to come, but he says he's going to do his best to rain things in. He says tonight, he wants to kill two birds with one stone heading into the big iPPV, "Turning Point", on the 14th. He says tonight, in the main event, it's going to be AJ Styles and Frankie Kazarian taking on Chris Jericho and Jay Lethal, their opponents for "Turning Point"! The fans cheer him on as he says tonight there will be a lot of familiar faces and many debuts, as the landscape continues to change and get more exciting each week here in NWA Florida, the hottest place in the National Wrestling Alliance!
Forever Hooligans (Alex Koslov & Rocky Romero) vs. Dos Ben Dejos (Jay Rios & Eddie Cruz) w/ La Rosa Negra
The Hooligans have great energy and had the crowd behind them the whole time, and they disappoint. Rios and Cruz are a sound tag team, but it was clear they were out matched, as Koslov and Romero worked like a well oiled machine, hitting many well choreographed sequences and showing their charisma throughout. Even though the Hooligans would pull off some moves and use some tactics that would have fallen more towards the "heel" side of the spectrum, the fans still seemed to be on their side in this particular contest. When La Rosa Negra would get on the apron and protest after Romero would use a thumb to the eye of Cruz, "Azucar" would end up planting a big wet one right on her mouth, doing a little dance afterward to the applause of the crowd. In the end, after Koslov was a house of fire, taking down both of his opponents with a Springboard Clothesline, following up with his kicks to the back of the head while doing his own dance to Rios, then stomping him to the face, Forever Hooligans would hit their finisher, the Contract Killer, on Cruz to get the highly impressive victory. Forever Hooligans have arrived, and everyone is on notice here in NWA Florida.
Tyson Kidd vs. Kenny Omega
The two Canadian stars are among the best athletes you'll likely see competing anywhere, and they brought a great, competitive contest for the fans here in Tampa. Omega is an unorthodox and exotic performer, but his speed is the key and Kidd was able to shut that down near the end and make it a more mat based battle, where he was clearly superior. Kidd would manage to end things with the Dungeon Lock, earning the submission victory, as well as the respect of the crowd and seemingly Omega.
Omega would extend a hand to Kidd after the match, and after some consideration, Kidd accepted to the cheers of the fans... only to have Omega pull him into an elbow strike! Kidd was stunned, and walk right into a Hadouken Double Palm Strike straight to the face, knocking him out in the center of the ring! The fans would boo and jeer Omega, who would only smile and walk away with a look of satisfaction.
The Juicy Product (David Starr & JT Dunn) w/ Kimber Lee vs. Jon Davis & Uhaa Nation
The Juicy Product had a big challenge here, as they took on the imposing duo of Davis and Nation. Davis and Nation won a hard fought battle last week against Raymond Rowe and Phil Shatter, but this week they had an experienced team in front of them, and the Juicy Product did not want to let this opportunity pass them by. Next week, the Juicy Product are scheduled for a three way tag team match with former World Tag Team champions Los Hijos del Terror and the Rockstars of Wrestling, and a loss here was not in the cards. Dunn was able to secure the win, hitting a rebounding Rolling Elbow to knock Davis silly after a flurry of offense from both sides, putting the Dark City native down for the three.
After the match, Starr would grab a microphone, stating, "The Pistols may have the belts, but everybody knows who's OVER. AS. FUCK. in the NWA, and it's the Juicy Product!" The fans and Kimber Lee give him an applause for the rather crude comment, but it seems to be a point of agreement for most. Dunn grabs the microphone and tries to continue the thought, but they are attacked from behind by two long haired men wearing street clothes who jumped the guard rail... Superkicks! Dunn and Starr are down and Kimber Lee flees the ring, not wanting any part of this! One of the men then heads up to the top turnbuckle, as the other picks up Dunn off the mat, lifting him on his shoulders and then hitting a Rolling Fireman's Carry Slam. The man on the buckles comes off the top with a 450 Splash, and the other man quickly follows up with a Moonsault! The fans aren't sure what is going on, but their boos have now turned to cheers, and then they become deafening cheers as one of the men grabs a microphone.
"We are THE YOUNG BUCKS, and we are the only tag team that matters!"
David Starr is up to a knee, but both men hit a simultaneous Superkick, knocking him completely out, and yet another massive tag team debuts here tonight in Tampa! The three way tag match between the Juicy Product, Hijos del Terror, and Rockstars of Wrestling just got more interesting, as it is now clear that the Young Bucks have their sights on taking on whoever comes out on top of that contest. But why attack the Juicy Product? Why not wait and make their move at Turning Point in a week? Perhaps we'll get an explanation in the near future.
Sami Zayn vs. Rhett Titus
Zayn and Titus were both making their debuts here, and Titus was really trying to come off confidant in this one. He showed Zayn zero respect and played to the crowd constantly, really trying to get into the Quebecois's head, but it didn't really work for him in the end. Titus had recently lost a match to Cedric Alexander on worldwide Pay-Per-View, and was looking for a rebound, but after eating the Helluva Kick from Zayn, followed by a Swinging DDT, it was clear his dreams were to be dashed. Both men look pretty good, and Titus did a good job in defeat getting Zayn over with the crowd here tonight in Tampa.
"Heartless" Derek Ryze vs. Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins was all intensity in his debut here tonight, as he took on mainstay Derek Ryze. Ryze has had a pretty good run thus far here in NWA Florida, and looked to not back down against the stronger, more world renowned star in Rollins. Ryze would manage to use his educated feet early to put a bit of a hurting on the Iowa native, but Rollins was not to be discouraged. Rollins would manage to deliver some big shots, leading to some ground and pound tactics, all the while verbally taunting Ryze and the booing crowd. The crowd would try to pull Ryze up, who would attempt a come back with a Spinning Enzuigiri, but Rollins would catch his attempt at a Buzzsaw Kick, pulling him up and into a Running Turnbuckle Powerbomb, followed by his deadly Blackout Stomp, knocking Ryze completely unconscious and earning Rollins the three. Rollins would show stare down the crowd here with a relentless, cold stare as his arm was raised, and it was clear that his path of destruction was just beginning.
Out to the ring comes Shelton Benjamin, and he has a mic in hand as most fans look on in slight indifference. Benjamin says he is tired of the same old gimmicks and angles found in professional wrestling, and he's look for a real challenge! A challenge worthy of a "Wrestling Machine"! He got his answer, as out from behind the curtain stepped the chiseled former amateur wrestling star, Lashley! Lashley didn't waste time talking, instead he headed right for the ring, and he looked ready for a battle.
"The Destroyer" Lashley vs. "The Wrestling Machine" Shelton Benjamin
Benjamin and Lashley both have extensive amateur backgrounds, and Benjamin wanted to put him to the test early, going for a takedown and seeing how "The Destroyer's" legs held up. The fans weren't all that intrigued by the early goings of this contest, actually booing both men during the first couple of minutes as they battle on the mat back and forth, using amateur techniques and actually showing very proficient skills; unfortunately for them, the sign of the marquee said, "Professional Wrestling" not "Amateur Wrestling", and these fans wanted to see some wrasslin'! They would get some of that once things broke down and Benjamin got frustrated, slapping Lashely and running the ropes, attempting to hit his Paydirt finisher, but Lashely would deliver a big Standing Spinebuster! Lashley would call for the end, trying a Running Powerslam, but Benjamin reversed into a German Suplex! Benjamin would attempt an Ankle Lock, but Lashley would roll and kick him in the face! Lashely would pop up and deliver a Spear to Benjamin as he was coming in hard for another spurt of offense, and that would put an abrupt end to this match, giving Lashley the win. While many fans could have lived without this one, it served its purpose to debut Lashley as a capable competitor here in NWA Florida.
Trent Barreta vs. "King of Flight" Kalisto
The masked man, Kalisto, would come out and garner instant applause from the crowd just for being a luchadore. Sometimes it's that easy. Especially if you're facing the smug Trent Barreta, who seemed very confident early, but found it exceedingly hard to keep a grip on Kalisto, and instead Kalisto would use his fast, fierce, and gravity defying offense to take down the New Yorker and send him to the outside to rethink his strategy. Not a great idea, though, as Kalisto would fly to the outside and actually catch Barreta with a Huracanrana variation, getting a big reaction from the crowd, who was by now cheering his name. Kalisto would hop on the apron and look to hit something else astonishing, only to get caught with a steel chair to the face from Barreta!
The fans were going crazy with boos as the referee calls for the bell! Barreta picks up Kalisto, lifting him and driving him to the ground with a Cradle Back-to-Belly Piledriver, sending the luchadore down with a sick thud, and that's apparently the "King of Flight's" reward for wowing this crowd here tonight. Barreta leaves as despised as ever, but he's made a big statement.
Chris Jericho & Jay Lethal vs. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles & "Bad Influence" Frankie Kazarian
This was a very smartly worked match by all parties, as Styles and Kazarian looked to push the pace and showed that they were on the edge of losing their cool, while Jericho and Lethal looked to slow the momentum and keep the ring cut off at all times. Jericho and Lethal are both consummate professionals, and knew both had to get inside the heads of their opponents and to push the crowd's buttons. They would fake tags to each other behind the ref's back, choke their opponents on the ropes, paint brush them and mock them incessantly, and generally gloat about their greatness in superiority to their opponents. The fans were boiling over to see Styles and Kazarian come off with the win, but it wasn't to be. Jericho would manage to catch Kazarian on the top and send him down with a Powerbomb from the corner as he looked to dive to the outside, putting his feet on the ropes and picking up the win for his team!
Jericho and Lethal would gloat afterwards, keeping an eye on Styles and Kazarian as they did, but they couldn't have known what would be coming from behind... DANIEL BRYAN! Bryan springboards in behind Jericho and Lethal, delivering a huge Dropkick to the back of both men! Jericho would show his years of wisdom, rolling out of the ring and not looking to find out who it was that struck him, but Lethal was not so sage. Lethal would pull himself up, holding the back of his head and looking to fight, only to get dropped into the YES! LOCK and these fans are going crazy! Styles manages to see the opening and he catches Jericho with a big Lariat, sending him over the guard rail and into the crowd, and these two are fighting into the crowd! The security is out to try to get some order, but it's all out chaos heading into Turning Point next Friday in Orlando!
DON'T MISS IT!
