"The New King of Hardcore" Bram vs. Rafi Rex
Bram is a stand out of the British indie scene who has come over to impose his brand of violence on the Florida territory. Rafi Rex is a stout and sturdy wrestler who's adapt to using brawling to get the job done, but that wasn't such a keen idea against a venerable maniac like Bram. Bram is wild and unorthodox, yelling and basically salivating as he tears into his opponent, and Rex never really looked to be in control. Bram would send Rex off the railings and the turnposts before sending him back into the ring and then driving him to the mat with an Impaler DDT for the win!
The Fanboys (Shane Swyft & Jaison Moore) vs. Dos Ben Dejos (Jay Rios & Eddie Cruz) w/ La Rosa Negra
The Fanboys and Team Lucha are both well liked, and had a fun, respectful contest that saw both teams show a decent aptitude for tag team wrestling. It wasn't overly impressive on either end, but it did what it was supposed to do, and that's feature some local tag teams in a positive light. Team Lucha would end up getting the win, hitting the Spanish Fly on Moore, leading to a three count.
Aaron Epic & Maxx Stardom vs. "The Purr-fect Ten" Lince Dorado & "The American Sasuke" Mikaze
Dorado is always a crowd favorite with his lucha style and cat-like antics, and his partner Mikaze was well suited for him. Epic and Stardom are both veterans who were used to working a faster style, and were good heel counter parts, slowing the match down strategically, making quick tags, and showing their opponents little respect by mocking them and breaking the rules. Dorado and Mikaze would eventually rally, but Epic would manage roll-up Dorado, putting his feet on the ropes to steal the win! The fans didn't like that, but he'll get him next time, he promises!
"The 5'07" Gift from Heaven" Oliver Cain vs. "Mr. 450" Jesus De Leon
Leon was playing fan favorite, and seemed to have the ability to get the fans behind him a little bit. However, the sound heel work of Oliver Cain was what you had to look out for here, as his cocky style and impressive repertoire of maneuvers had many impressed. De Leon managed to survive his suplex attempts and a nice Seated Discus Lariat, kicking out and rallying, but Cain would avoid De Leon's titular trademark, the 450 splash, to change the tides in his favor. Cain would lift De Leon up into the Fireman's Carry position, delivering a back elbow strike from there that left "Mr. 450" stunned, before springboarding off the middle rope and delivering a Spinning Knee Strike, knocking De Leon's lights out long enough to get a three count! Cain's got a bright future if he can keep up this kind of work.
Leva Bates vs. "The Huntress" Ivelisse
Leva Bates is a charismatic and fun character, while Ivelisse is definitely beautiful but intense, and she brought the fight to Bates. Bates seemed obliged to fight right back, and these two women showed just how down and dirty they could get, as they threw many hard kicks and strikes, trying to wobble and put their opponent out of commission. Ivelisse just seemed more driven tonight, however, and would manage to catch Bates in a vulnerable position, catching her with her Desert Eagle to get the three count! Both men looked good here, but Ivelisse was just more crisp and focused, and it paid off. One has to think she'll be making her Impact Wrestling debut very soon and will be looking to "hunt down" the Dark Angel.
"The Knockout Artist" Chris Hero vs. Jonny Vandal
Jonny Vandal is a long time standout here on the Florida scene, and he was instrumental in the beginnings of NWA Florida with his involvement in a feud with Shane Helms. Tonight, he was definitely the crowd favorite as they tried to will him to defeat the national star and one half of the Kings of Wrestling, Chris Hero, who's antics of late have made him one of the more despised stars in the territory. Hero would do everything he does well, going to some familiar spots and trying to make Vandal look good, and Vandal played to it well. Vandal looked like he might get the win, avoiding those deadly elbows of Hero as much as possible, ducking and dodging and often countering into his own strikes or a roll-up, getting a number of near falls in the process. Vandal would look for a knock out blow of his own in the end after hitting an Enzuigiri to send Hero into the ropes, he splashed his back and then tried for a Kneeling Superkick, but Hero would roll under the move and catch Vandal's boot as he attempted a follow up Superkick, spinning him and simultaneously rolling, landing a Rolling Elbow and ending the night for Vandal. You have to applaud Vandal's effort, but Hero lived up to his nickname and reputation tonight.
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. The Frenemies (Aron Agony & Jude Mackenzie)
The Young Bucks are among the best tag team wrestlers on the planet, but something they do well is bring other teams up when they face them. That was the case here, as we saw the team of Frenemies do their best to keep up and not make complete fools of themselves. This wasn't ground breaking work here, but there were some good moments for the Frenemies, such as Jude Mackenzie hitting a comedy spot after the Young Bucks did their thing; after the Jacksons would hit the Crazy Dive and some Tornado DDTs, Mackenzie would find his way on the middle rope, and after wobbling on the rope for a moment, would simply fall backwards and land on the Jacksons, getting a pop from the crowd for his anti-athleticism. Agony would show that he is the truly gifted athlete of the two a little later on, as he would deliver a nice, textbook (if that term can be applied to such a move) Shooting Star Plancha to the outside, just wiping out everybody in its way. The Young Bucks would eventually turn up the heat on them, but Mackenzie would pull out one last ditch effort, catching a Superkick attempt from Nick Jackson and spinning it into a Snapmare Driver, but Matt Jackson would springboard in with a moonsault to break things up. The Jackson 2 would deliver their stereo Superkicks to Mackenzie from there, sending him out of the ring, and Matt would catch Agony flying into the ring with a Superkick, knocking him sensless. The Bucks would proceed to hit a version of the a Spike Tombstone on Agony, completely pulverizing him, and it was over. The Young Bucks win, but it was a good learning experience for the young tag team of Agony and Mackenzie.
Raven vs. "The Devil Himself" Derek Drexl
Raven is one of the top faces of wrestling in the late 90's and early 00's, having held the NWA World Heavyweight championship 3 times in his career, knocking off names like Randy Savage, Scott Steiner, and Shane Douglas to do it. He's had feuds with Sting, DDP, HBK, Kurt Angle, you name it. It was clear that Derek Drexl was in there with his idol, as Drexl's character could be seen as a direct decedent of Raven's own from years passed, and he wanted to put on the match of his career. This was an old school, Southern brawling type of match if there ever was one, and Drexl's maniacal, psychological style worked well with Raven's limited abilities at this point, and he was able to play to Raven and his popularity well and sold really well for the legend. Drexl would get a lot of heat throughout the contest for gauging at Raven's eyes and blatantly choking him, but Raven would get cheers for similar antics, and would even low blow Drexl in the end before delivering his Evenflow to get the three count. Drexl would leave in a fuss, tossing chairs and threatening fans as Raven celebrated with the crowd, and he would stay after the final bell to sign autographs and do photo ops.
NWA World Heavyweight Title:
Samoa Joe (c) vs. "The Man-Beast" Rhino
Rhino has a reputation for being foul mouthed, hard hitting, and violent, and that made him a good match for Samoa Joe, who's been lacking in that type of opposition as of late. This was just a fight, and while Rhino's gas tank was put into question as things slowed down after a spirited opening spurt, it was clear Joe was no spring chicken either and could use the break himself. Rhino would do a lot of showboating as he'd stomp and use rest holds on Joe, spouting off profanities and throwing up his arms yelling, "WHO'S THE MAN!?" but Joe would eventually kick things into higher gear once he got into a good striking groove. These two would battle all around ringside, into the crowd, but "The Man-Beast" would regain control on the outside with a Vertical Suplex on the concrete while in the crowd. Back in the ring, Rhino would call for the Gore, but Joe would show his bravado, just stepping out of the way as Rhino charged him looking annoyed. Rhino would stop dead is his tracks and Joe would turn, lighting him up with multiple chops, but Rhino would yell for more! Joe would switch to kicks, but Rhino would pummel him back with fists and then toss him off the ropes, catching him with a Spinebuster for a two, and we nearly had a new champ! Rhino calls for something and then sets Joe up, delivering a massive Sit-Out Piledriver! The fans and everyone think they are about to see a huge upset, but Joe still kicks out! Rhino can't believe it, dropping F-bombs and going nuts, but he goes to the corner and goads Joe into getting up. Joe stumbles up, but starts running as he sees Rhino running, and catches him with a knee strike to the face! Joe then goes on the warpath, landing strike after strike in the corner as he unleashes a Violence Party on the Detroit native! Joe then delivers a big Enzuigiri in the corner, and pins Rhino afterwards, but Rhino shows his grit in kicking out! Joe leaps up and drives Rhino into the mat with a Senton Backsplash and then calls for him to get up! Joe then rushes, trying for a Lariat, but Rhino ducks, going for a Backslide, but Joe counters and catches him from behind... COQUINA CLUTCH! COQUINA CLUTCH! Rhino reaches desperately, but Joe sinks it in and Rhino has to tap! It's all over!
Joe is visibly hurting, holding his ribs, but he has the belt in hand and is holding it up as he stands on the ropes! Rhino leaves, fuming, but wait... it's SETH ROLLINS! SETH ROLLINS HITS THE RING AND ATTACKS JOE FROM BEHIND AS HE'S ON THE ROPES! This must be revenge for the attack Joe laid on him at the Impact Wrestling taping! Joe is up on the buckles and Rollins grabs his legs pulls him off, and he has him in powerbomb position! Oh LORD! ROLLINS DELIVERS THE RUNNING TURNBUCKLE POWERBOMB TO JOE! The World Heavyweight champion is hurting bad, and the belt is on the mat! Rollins places the belt near Joe's head and grabs him by the hair, telling him to look at it! Rollins then runs, and OH! HE DELIVERS THE BLACKOUT STOMP, SMASHING JOE'S FACE INTO THE BELT! Rollins is getting a mix of boos and cheers, as these fans had no idea they'd see this angle get a spot on this show, and they are loving it as the show comes to an end!
