"Windy City On Tour" #38 ~the Zero Gravity Cup ~ Chicago, IL (30/12/14)
Tonight Windy City Pro Wrestling was back in downtown Chicago for a special taped show entitled the "Zero Gravity Cup" as 8 of the company's finest daredevils faced off in a special single-elimination 8-man tournament for the trophy and to determine the new #1 contender to the NWA Windy City Zero Gravity Championship.
The Powers That Be have let it known that the winner of this tournament could very well also become the new Zero Gravity Champion, as they have been notified by one Paul Heyman that the current ZG Champion Sean Waltman failed to produce for a random drug-test on the last TV after his win over Anthony Henry. The circumstances around this are still being investigated but a decision will be made on the first Fight Night TV of the New Year.
1st Round Matches;
Paul London def. Mistico with the London Calling SSP (10:20)
Jey Uso def. Jake Crist with a Samoan Splash (06:48)
Delirious def. Marion Fontaine with his Bizarro Driver (Inside leg hook fisherman driver) (07:25)
Adrian Neville def. ACH with the Red Arrow SSP (08:44)
Semi-Final Matches;
Paul London def. Jey Uso with the London Calling SSP (00:31)
~London caught Jey Uso unawares as they shook hands and Uso turned his back on London, which allowed him to sneak attack him from behind, land a quick super-kick and follow up with his version of the SSP to score a quick win, surely an advantage for the final.
Adrian Neville def. Delirious with the Red Arrow SSP (13:29)
~Everyone's favorite lunatic Delirious debuted in Chicago and earlier pulled off a big win over the 'tashed superstar Marion Fontaine, tonight though he was bested in a very close affair by Adrian Neville.
Segment;
Daniel Bryan enters the ring and gets the crowd going with 'Yes' chants. The NWA World Jnr Heavyweight Champion says that he's been awaiting a new challenge, and he's been granted that in the form of Impact Wrestling's Jay Lethal. Bryan says that Sean Waltman gave him a good run for his money, and he feel's he's not seen the last of him, pending the powers that be investigation that is! Bryan also add's that Seth Rollins is another on the list of Bryan after he snuck out a win in a 4-way match last month also involving AJ Styles and Chris Jericho by pinning Jericho.
But Bryan says legit contenders have been few and far between. Chase Owens has failed to live up to the hype it seems and Anthony Henry isn't quite ready, yet. But Jay Lethal...now this is a real challenge that Bryan Danielson can get out of bed to train hard in the morning for. Bryan says he knows his title is in real jeapordy, but he will train his little ass off and will let it all hang out on Starcade to steal the show!
The champ wraps it up by saying his current championship isn't the limit of his ambitions, and that an impressive win over Jay Lethal should see him in contendership for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, whether that would be against Samoa Joe or AJ Styles. Daniel Bryan is ready. He's going to put on a wrestling clinic. Wrestle like a machine and defeat Jay Lethal impressively. Then, the Yes Movement will be coming for the Big Gold Belt!
Final Match for #1 Contender to Zero Gravity Championship;
Adrian Neville def. Paul London with the Red Arrow SSP (21:26)
In a battle of the Shooting Star Presses, both men went to well a few times and missed as they sought to impress upon the other that their variation, their adaption was better. Paul London cheated throughout but an turnbuckle he had earlier exposed came back to haunt him as Neville side-stepped a big splash and London went face first into the metal. Adrian Neville scaled the top rope and hit his corkscrew version of the SSP to win the match and the Zero Gravity Cup, and in the process became the #1 contender to the NWA Windy City Zero Gravity Title.
