The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd & Harry Smith)
The red hot Young Bucks kick off this show against the debuting team of the Hart Dynasty, former World Tag Team champions looking to knock off a top team here in Impact. Kidd and Smith looked good early, cutting off the ring and putting a beat down on Matt Jackson, but Matt would get the hot tag to Nick and get things turned around. The Hart Dynasty had clearly never faced a team quite like the Young Bucks, as they seemed stunned by the rapid succession of offense coming their way once the California natives got going. Smith, one of the biggest men on the entire roster, would use his power to catch and counter an aerial attack from Nick Jackson on the outside and send him into the turnpost hard to turn things around. Smith and Kidd would deliver their version of the Hart Attack on Nick back in the ring, but Matt would break things up with a Springboard Moonsault, breaking up the pin attempt. Matt then duck a clothesline from Smith, catching the former North American champion with a Superkick, and then springboarding off the ropes and delivering a Tornado DDT that sent him down and under the ropes! From there, Matt leads the way in bringing Nick back into this match, and the two would go on to perform their More Bang for Your Buck finisher on Kidd to put him down for the three count!
Matt Sydal vs. Drew Gulak
Gulak was great at generating heel heat in this match by consistently slowing down the pace and working this Orlando crowd into a frenzy as they wanted to see Sydal cut loose and execute some of his high risk offense. Sydal would manage to avoid an oncoming attack in the corner, swinging around and kicking Gulak in the process, and this lead to a whole flurry of offense. Sydal would springboard in, catching Gulak with a Frankensteiner that sent the Philadelphia native to the outside, which lead to Sydal flying out with a Corkscrew Plancha to get these fans on their feet! Back inside, Sydal delivers an Inverted Legdrop Bulldog into a pin, thinking he might have it, but Gulak kicks out! Gulak manages to battle back with an eye poke, followed by a series of chops and stomps, but Sydal manages to reverse a Suplex attempt with a knee strike, followed by an Enzuigiri and then a high flying Standing Moonsault to set up his Shooting Sydal Press, which is enough to keep Gulak down for a three after an entertaining contest.
"The Real American" Jack Swagger w/ Kurt Angle vs. Trent Barreta
Kurt Angle leads out his newest protege, Jack Swagger, to the ring, who receives a mixed reaction. In the ring is Trent Barreta, who seems confident, but that quickly fades after the bell sounds. After Swagger dominates in the tie up, he takes down Barreta and shows his impress amateur wrestling skills, sending Barreta scurrying to the ropes. From there, Swagger delivers a dominant performance which Angle can't stop yelling and "whooing" about on the outside, applauding his man as Swagger shows why he's one of the most impressive specimens in the business. Barreta manages to kick out of the Swagger Bomb from the corner, showing some fight, but Swagger grabs his legs and takes him over with a Wheelbarrow Suplex, following up with his Patriot Lock, and Barreta begins to tap nearly immediately and Swagger is the winner here in his debut!
Davey Richards vs. Jake Crist w/ Nevaeh
Davey Richards makes his way to the ring alone tonight, and he's here to take on the debuting Jake Crist, who is accompanied by fellow Ohioan, Nevaeh. Crist shows he has some solid mat skills and pretty good strikes, but Richards was able to take control and finish this match pretty early with a Kimura to get the submission win.
Seth Rollins vs. "The Show Off" Dolph Ziggler
Rollins is about as heelish as it gets, so these fans couldn't help but be on the side of former North American champion Dolph Ziggler to start. Dolph ended up earning that praise as he put on a very spirited battle in a match that was really exciting and well worked by both men. Ziggler had Rollins reeling near the middle of the match, and looked like he might have him beat with a Sleeper, but Rollins would manage to spark to life and get to the ropes to get a break. Rollins would catch Ziggler charging into the corner and send him into the buckles with a Reverse STO, changing the complexion of this match in a hurry. Rollins would try to end the match with a Superkick to a kneeling Ziggler, but Ziggler kicked out! Ziggler would reverse a Rollins Turnbuckle Powerbomb attempt into a Sunset Flip, but Rollins managed to kick out. Rollins would avoid the Fame Asser, but Rollins would manage to duck an attack and hit the Zig Zag out of nowhere, but Rollins somehow kicks out of that! Rollins is stagger, though, and Ziggler once again tries for the Fame Asser, but Rollins reverses it, showing his strength and hoisting Ziggler up from a suspended position and then running and drilling him into the turnbuckles with a Powerbomb! From there, Rollins comes off the ropes and delivers his Blackout stomp, and it's all over! Rollins gets the victory!
Dark Angel & Ivelisse vs. Candice LeRae & Kimber Lee
The Women's champion, Dark Angel, teams up with fellow lucha inspired star, Ivelisse, as she took on two tough customers in LeRae and Lee. LeRae would end up pulling this short yet solid contest out for her team, hitting the Heartbreaker on Ivelisse to get the pinfall!
Thrillseekers (Lance Storm & Chris Jericho) vs. Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Cesaro) w/ Lord William Regal
The pace of this match wasn't spectacular, but the psychology was well done for an 8 minute contest. The fans were going crazy for Storm and Jericho, who could do no wrong, and did end up getting quite a few near falls and showed they had very little ring rust for having not teamed together in probably twenty years or more. Hero and Cesaro would eventually show why they are one of the best teams today, pulling far away from Storm and Jericho in the end, and eventually would deliver the Royal Bomb to Storm, which ended the match.
Not as heart warming as Storm and Jericho had hoped, but they looked pretty good and tried to keep their pride in tact. Regal, though, wasn't done, as he hit the ring and delivered the Power of the Punch to Jericho as he checked on his fallen partner, following up by locking on the Regal Stretch as Cesaro and Hero laugh and cheer him on and officials have to pull him away from the fallen star. Jericho is knocked out cold, even when in the hold, but he will surely be looking for revenge on Regal after this.
"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles & Sami Zayn vs. "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe & "The Demon King" Finn Balor
The current Impact Wrestling and Pacific Heavyweight champion, AJ Styles, is on a crash course with World Heavyweight champion, Samoa Joe, at StarrCade, and here we got a little preview of what was to come. Styles laid into Joe after he refused to relinquish a choke hold on Sami Zayn at "Genesis" in his return from Japan, and it was clear these two were heated tonight. Joe and Styles would find themselves brawling on the outside when Zayn would fly to the outside with a Front Flip Suicida, taking both men down in a great high risk maneuver! Balor, though, would be more pointed, waiting for Zayn to get to his feet on the outside and taking him down with a Suicide Dive through the ropes, which lead to him sending the match back into the ring. Zayn manages to fight back and sends Balor into the corner, looking for the Helluva Kick, but Balor avoids contact and grabs Zayn from behind, delivering the inverted Bloody Sunday! Balor hooks the near leg, thinking he has it, but Styles makes his way in to break things up! Balor and Styles exchange reversals on strikes, but into the ring storms Joe, who catches Styles with a Flying Kick that sends him into the referee, taking the ref out! Zayn grabs Balor and tosses him out of the ring and then tries to go after Joe, but Joe manages to deliver a big striking combination to Zayn, followed by a thrust kick to send him through the ropes to the outside! Joe calls for the end and tries to pick up Styles, but out to ringside runs SETH ROLLINS! Rollins hits the apron and then springboards in, taking Joe down with a Springboard Knee Strike! Joe is down and trying to get up, but Rollins has in his sights and he delivers it, the Blackout Stomp! Rollins leaves the ring, and Styles is back up and he smells blood in the water. Rollins watches from the stage, and Styles sees him, but he doesn't care. He grabs Joe's legs and hoists him up, but Balor is back in the ring. Styles drops him quickly and ducks a clothesline, and then catches Balor with a Pele Kick, sending him back out of the ring! Joe gets to his knees, wobbly, but Styles sends him back down with a Roundhouse Kick to the temple! Styles grabs his legs again, lifting him, and he hits the Styles Clash! The referee is back awake, and he slowly but surely counts to the three, and Styles gets the pinfall over Samoa Joe heading into StarrCade, but in no small way thanks to Seth Rollins.
Rollins applauds Styles from the stage, as Styles and Zayn both look on and shake their heads. But, a win is a win, as Jeremy Borash points out on commentary, and that's our show!
