LIVE ON PAY-PER-VIEW
FROM THE FORUM
IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
ON JANUARY 25, 2015
After a video package, featuring short clips of the stars in action to give some hype and a preview of what is to come, Mauro Ranallo and Josh Barnett are at ringside for the call of the action tonight.
Mauro Ranallo: Welcome to The Forum in Los Angeles, California, where a capacity crowd is on hand and ready for the biggest night in professional wrestling of the year as the NWA presents Starrcade. 8 matches, including 5 championship matches, are scheduled for this evening. I'm Mauro Ranallo and with a new year comes the annual showcase of the best wrestlers in the world, coming together under 1 roof in what could be a career defining night for many. Joining me for this broadcast is my colleague Josh Barnett, and what about it? Big main event with the World Heavyweight champion Samoa Joe defending the title against AJ Styles. He has turned back challenges from names like CM Punk, Chris Masters, but tonight could be the biggest threat he has had to his reign thus far as Styles has been unstoppable the last few months.
Josh Barnett: And just to get back to what you were saying, this could be a career defining night, but it could also be the end of the road for some. A couple hard hitting affairs come to mind immediately with John Cena set to defend his North American championship against Bully Ray later on in an Extreme Rules match, and there you see it. Hell in a Cell. Jay Bradley against Rudy Switchblade, but any time you enter that beast, it's almost like a third competitor in itself in the match. 2 men enter, but sometimes neither win because that Cell itself comes out on top.
Mauro Ranallo: What should be an excellent technical matchup as we go down a weight class sees Daniel Bryan putting his World Junior Heavyweight championship up against challenger Jay Lethal. Bryan has held that championship for over 19 months now, an incredible run no matter how you look at it. But, has he faced a challenge so far as difficult as Lethal? It could be the end here tonight in what could prove to be the match of the night. Also, switching gears with some tag team action when World champions Mike Bennett & Matt Taven, formerly The Pistols as they renounced that name a short while ago. They will defend those titles against the challenge of The Young Bucks.
Josh Barnett: There are critics out there of Bennett & Taven, so tonight is very much a put up or shut up type scenario for them. They have a chance to prove they deserve those titles when they unified them with the North American Tag Team Title at the last pay per view, but don't count out The Young Bucks as they can do things in that ring like few others can. The match that I'm looking most forward to, having competed over in Japan myself, we're talking Daisuke Sekimoto teaming up with Kazuchika Okada, a chance for them to make a big impression here on American soil. It won't be easy though because their opponents Los Hijos del Toro, former World Tag Team champions themselves, they want those belts back, you know? And this is their chance to prove it. Prove they can still go and prove they still want it.
Mauro Ranallo: In addition to that, women's action rounds out the card when World champion AJ Lee defends against Paige, and in a #1 contenders match, Audrey Marie takes on Havok. A ton of action here tonight so let's not waste any more time here. That Cell is lowered and ready for warfare as we send it over to our ring announcer for the evening, Justin Roberts, standing by to kick us off with the first match.
Hell in a Cell match

Jay Bradley | Rudy Switchblade |
A match nearly 5 months in the making, covering a match on Ohio Valley's first ever iPPV back in October and a Best of 5 series. The finale of the series saw Rudy Switchblade defeat Jay Bradley in an Ambulance match after slamming the door on his head, not seen since. After turning his back on Ohio Valley by hiding under a mask as a turncoat to The Blacklist, Rudy Switchblade became 1 of the most hated wrestlers upon the reveal. Not letting it go unpunished, Danny Davis ordered another match with Switchblade and a returning Bradley, this time inside the demonic Hell in a Cell. The roles are reversed with Bradley entering with perhaps the crowd on his side for the first time, but likely more concerned about revenge on Switchblade than a positive fan reaction.
With the Cell lowered, Switchblade comes out first. Testing the structure as he pulls against the chain link fence. He climbs a few feet up before going back down, nodding to Ohio Valley's head referee Chris Sharpe on the state of it. He heads inside and enters the ring. Bradley heads out next and gone is the mock MMA gimmick. No Mongo the cut man or mouthguard. This is serious business as he is labeled by his longtime "Lonesome" Jay Bradley nickname here, and a fitting name as he is a man unto himself tonight at Starrcade. Bradley takes off his vest outside the cage and looks up to the top. Sharpe is now inside as Bradley enters and the door is locked behind him. Sharpe calls for the bell as Bradley gets in the ring and the match is underway!
Switchblade immediately charges at Bradley, but he side steps and sends Bradley into the turnbuckle. No time wasted here as Bradley then grabs him by the back of the head and throws him outside the ring via being thrown over the top rope. Bradley steps out and as Switchblade gets up, Irish whips him back first into the Cell. Switchblade heads the other way as Bradley continues in pursuit, grabbing him by the back of the head and slamming him face first into the Cell. Switchblade rolls in the ring as Bradley follows. He picks up Switchblade and bodyslams him down, followed by an elbow drop attempt, but Switchblade moves. He rolls out of the ring and to the door, requesting it be open. Clearly he is having second thoughts on taking this match, however it is too late for that. Bradley comes after him and Switchblade back tracks while begging off. Bradley grabs him and goes to Irish whip him into the structure, Switchblade hitting hard back first. This time, not only will Bradley smash his head into the fencing, but grate Switchblade's head along it. As the ref checks on him, Bradley grabs the ring steps and lifts them up to dump them over to the top rope and into the ring. He then rolls Switchblade in and follows.
Switchblade is already bleeding as Bradley comes towards him. Switchblade begs on the mat some more but Bradley gets too close and Switchblade manages a drop down toe hold that sends his opponent face first into the steps. Switchblade on his knees grabs Bradley by the head and slams him face first again into the metal. Switchblade waited and as Bradley gets up, he hits the ropes and uses the steps to springboard into a clothesline and get more air. A cover follows, but Bradley easily kicks out at 2. Switchblade clearly wants this over and over fast. He goes to pick up the stairs, but just as he is gets enough to lift them off the mat, Bradley kicks him in the head to instead knock him down. Bradley readies for the Boomstick, but Switchblade again rolls outside. He goes to the door, shaking it, maybe forgetting it was locked. Bradley heads out, but Switchblade starts climbing the cage from the inside.
Bradley doesn't go after him, but instead sets up a table outside the ring. This just sends Switchblade higher out of fear. Bradley tries grabbing the leg, but can't reach anymore. Instead he rolls back in. He then picks up the stairs and Switchblade seems to know where this is going. Bradley then throws the stairs at Switchblade on the side of the cage, although the weight sends them too low and off the mark. Bradley then goes outside and lifts up the apron, checking several areas, eventually finding a kendo stick. That should do as he starts whacking away, trying to hit Switchblade. He finally catches him, sending him down the cage a bit. Switchblade then catches the stick and blocks it, or so he thinks. Bradley pushes it up, jabbing Switchblade's ribs. Still holding it, Bradley yanks forward and pulls Switchblade off the cage, going face first into the side of the ring. Bradley rolls Switchblade in and readies his arm for a second try at the Boomstick. Switchblade gets up and turns, but ducks the move. Bradley steps too far, turns back and eats a RudyKO jumping cutting.

... NO!
Bradley is able to get a shoulder up before the 3. Oh so close to being finished off. Switchblade asks the door be opened again. He goes so far as to walk over and yell for it to be opened. The ref comes up and waves it off, leading Switchblade to say fine. As the ref turns, Switchblade grabs him and sends him face first into the cage and steals the keys. He opens the door, but Bradley is quickly in behind him. He starts hammering down on him as they are now outside the structure. Bradley takes Switchblade and rams him back first into the fence. As he drops, Bradley grabs the door and opens it further. Switchblade is crawling as Bradley takes him and throws him down. What is this? He is going to slam the door on Switchblade's head! Bradley's revenge could be coming from the Ambulance match, although Switchblade turns on his back and holds his arms out and locked to keep the door from the cage as Bradley struggles. As this goes on, Switchblade gives a stiff low blow kick that sends Bradley to his knees.
The shoe is now on the other foot as Bradley is down and Switchblade can finish him off. The referee is back up though now and arguing with him. Bradley crawls into the cage and reaches into the ring, grabbing the kendo stick. Switchblade sees this and heads up in a hurry. He climbs the side of the cell, Bradley hitting the cage with the stick to no effects. Finally he gives up and starts climbing. Switchblade is on top, looking at his options as Bradley climbs. He reaches the top and as he is climbing on the roof, Switchblade starts kicking at him. This is an extremely dangerous place for both wrestlers. Bradley manages to catch Switchblade's foot and the leader of The Blacklist is begging here. Bradley instead yanks it out to send him back first onto the roof of the cell. Bradley is now up there and with both men on top, Switchblade gets up and they start exchanging rights. Bradley gets the better and then charges with the Boomstick, sending Switchblade flipping onto the roof. A lot of good it does up there though with the referee still down on the floor.
Bradley looks over the side, seemingly considering the obvious. Switchblade gets to his hands and knees as Bradley grabs him. This could finish off his career, never mind this match. Bradley takes him, but Switchblade punches Bradley back. Using this distance, Switchblade starts to scale back down. Bradley follows suit as Switchblade gets back into the cage and yells for it to be shut before Bradley can get back in. The ref says no as Bradley gets down, but Switchblade holds the door shut. Bradley pulls on it, Switchblade eventually shoving it forward and hitting Bradley right in the face with it. He steps up and grabs the prone body of Bradley, pulling him in. He tells the ref that now he can shut it. Bradley gets rolled inside as Switchblade heads up to the top rope. He leaps off with the frog splash, but Bradley moves! Both men are down in an absolute war to kick off this show.
As they get up, Switchblade goes for a right, but Bradley blocks and hits back. They repeat. Finally Bradley is just landing rights as he backs Switchblade up to the ropes. He shoots Switchblade across and hits back body drop as he comes back. As Switchblade gets up, Bradley seems to consider the Boomstick again, but instead he walks up and lifts him up onto his shoulders into a fireman's carry. He then steps back and takes a few steps before rolling forward, hitting the Second City Slam, a rolling fireman's carry slam. Bradley quickly covers ...

... NO!
Switchblade raises an arm and a shoulder just before the 3. These men are leaving nothing out there in this match. Bradley has to be wondering just what it will take to end this. As Switchblade is getting up, Bradley grabs him but gets his eyes raked. Switchblade pushes Bradley up against the ropes and into the corner where he starts choking him. He then puts him in a front facelock and walks Bradley out. Switchblade turns for the RudyKO again, but Bradley shoves him off and into the ropes. Bradley goes for a clothesline but Switchblade ducks. Bradley then runs the ropes as Switchblade hits the other side. As they charge back, Bradley goes for the Boomstick with his right arm, but Switchblade simultaneously leaps into Bradley's left side. Switchblade wins out, hitting the RudyKO a second time in the match. Bradley is down as Switchblade crawls into a cover and hooks the leg ...

... 3!
That's it. Rudy Switchblade wins and the leader of The Blacklist puts down Lonesome Jay Bradley, likely putting an end to their blood feud. With the only pinfall of OVW champion Jamin Olivencia in 9 months a few weeks back on TV in a tag team match, a pinfall victory over the Ironman Rob Conway a week ago at OVW's Retribution iPPV, and now this, 2015 is starting off big for Switchblade. Give credit to Bradley who brings it, but bringing it was not enough here. As much as Danny Davis can try and deny it, this has to put Switchblade in line for a shot at the Ohio Valley Heavyweight title as the question now is whether or not anybody can stop Switchblade and The Blacklist?

Audrey Marie | Havok |
Havok comes out with Tommy Thomas III to a chorus of boos. Barnett tells the crowd that Havok has been unstoppable for about 4 months now. Then Audrey Marie comes out for the crowd cheers. Ranallo & Barnett play up the fact that Marie has been training and Living in Mexico. When the the bell rang, Marie rushes Havok. She uses her speed to keep Havok off guard. She could not get the monster off her feet. Marie then goes to the top rope . She goes for a cross body, Havok catches her. Havok then slams Marie to the ground. Havok throws Marie off her. Marie charges again this time Havok takes her head off with a boot. Havok then picks her up with a choke slam. Havok cover 1.2. Marie kicks out. benett says that Marie is giving the bigger Havok all she can handle. Havok then hits the Demon Drop for 1.2.3. Havok wins . Winner the Match in #1 contender for the World Women's Championship Havok. The Tommy Thomas grabs the mic.
TTT" You see world I'm bring the most devastating force in Women's wrestling today. A.J. Lee or Page it does not matter. Havok will do to them what she did to Marie. " Havok then goes to Marie and hits another Demon Drop.
Grudge match

Kazuchika Okada | Daisuke Sekimoto | Los Hijos del Toro |
This match stems from the final two events of the Kenshiki Pride Festival held in Japan in early January. On the final night of the round robin, Rush fouled Kazuchika Okada twice with a kick to the groin; the second kick forced referee Hiroyuki "Red Shoes" Unno to call for the disqualification. Not a big deal, until you factor in that Rush losing the match eliminated Daisuke Sekimoto from the tournament! On the finals night, Okada was not at 100 percent and lost his Heavyweight Championship match against AJ Styles while Sekimoto faced Okada in a special singles match only to be attacked and brutally beaten by los Hijos del Toros.
The former World Tag Team Champions have the experience edge having been teaming regularly for the past year and they use that to their advantage, isolating Okada on their half of the ring for the first minutes of the match. Okada eventually makes the hot tag to Sekimoto, who comes into the ring guns ablaze, knocking both Rush and Texano down with various clubs and lariats. He quickly sets Texano up for a German Suplex, but Rush breaks the attempt up before Okada recovers and takes Rush out of the ring.
Sekimoto and Texano trade various levels of momentum for the next few minutes - each man is able to hit a few moves, but cannot string enough together to get the necessary pinfall. Texano eventually tags in Rush, who was back in his corner. Rush gets his offense in, but the moment the tide begins to turn the other way, he once again tags in Texano, not wanting to be held responsible for his actions earlier this month. This carried on for the next four or five minutes against both Sekimoto and Okada, with Rush refusing to stay in the ring when the going got tough.
Of course, this led to Okada finally getting Rush into a position where he needs to make a tag, but Sekimoto had knocked Texano off the apron! Rush eats a devastating Rainmaker, but Texano breaks the count up before Unno hits three! All four men are in the ring and brawling, now, with Unno unable to get control. While he pushes Texano and Sekimoto out of the ring, Rush fouls Okada, once again kicking him in the groin! Unno turns around to see Rush level Okada with La Lanza and the three count is academic with Sekimoto completely unaware of the foul.
Los Hijos del Toros quickly escape the ring and celebrate their victory. Sekimoto checks on Okada and it is clear this rivalry is not over yet.
BUSHI |
Before the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship match begins, the commentators send the audience to a video package from Japan, where the current NWA Pacific Jr. Heavyweight Champion BUSHI has highlights shown. The video shows BUSHI using the MX to defeat Atsushi Aoki; it sees him use the same maneuver to defeat El Desperado; Naomichi Marufuji throws everything he has at BUSHI, but BUSHI refuses to give up, fighting to a time limit draw; he is then seen blasting Katsuhiko Nakajima with a Phoenix Splash to win the Junior Grand Prix and the Pacific Jr. Title.
The screen turns to BUSHI sitting in front of a black canvas. Speaking in his native Japanese with English subtitles, BUSHI says he was promised a shot at Daniel Bryan a year ago and still not received that opportunity. That opportunity comes in February at NWA Kenshiki's Revenge Tour. He says it doesn't matter whether Bryan or Lethal is the champion, the World title is coming to Japan.
NWA World Junior Heavyweight championship match

Champion | Challenger | |
Daniel Bryan | Jay Lethal |
This was a really old school type of match. The Jr. division is known for being high flying, and so is Lethal, which is what Bryan I'm sure expected but tonight Lethal brought a different side to his game.
Lethal attacked the leg of Bryan, the one he uses to utilize the high knee and kicks, and applied the Figure Four Leglock, a move that he has adopted from Ric Flair a number of times to try to seal the win. Lethal just kepr applying leg submissions and attacking the leg in a ruthless but clean manner. Every time Bryan tried to gain momentum, Lethal shut it down goes right back on the attack.
This was perhaps the closest anybody has come to dethroning Bryan yet, but Bryan really showed his character in overcoming the adversity. Bryan in contrast brought a more kickboxing and jujitsu game tonight, firing home many shoot kicks to the chest of Lethal making his chest visibly red-raw. Brought on by Lethal's ruthlessness, Bryan also ramped up the aggression with in particular a Double wrist-lock to a grounded Lethal followed by multiple stomps to the chest, face, and head. Bryan also showed off his impressive array of moves nailing a Bridging dragon suplex, a Surfboard and even busting out a Regal-Plex learned from William Regal.
The finish came when Lethal eventually went to well once to often as with Bryan hurt he attempted a final figure four leglock, but Bryan caught him coming in and managed to wrap him up in a small package and score the three count to retain the title. Lethal immediately shot to his feet and cursed himself for making a mistake and allowing Bryan the window of opportunity to snatch the win! But regardless, Bryan retains and he scaled the turnbuckle to celebrate with the fans chanting 'YES!' as a seething Lethal left the ring slowly his eyes never leaving Bryan.
Mauro Ranallo: What a night so far, and what a match. Daniel Bryan retaining his title in a close fought match with Jay Lethal, and that's fitting now I'd say to call it his title. His title because nobody seems able to solve the champion and put his shoulders to the mat or catch him in a submission for the victory. Is there anybody out there in your opinion that can unseat Daniel Bryan at the top of the junior heavyweight division here in the NWA?
Josh Barnett: I think there is, and we saw it before this match. BUSHI out of Japan was supposed to get a title shot on PPV at Spring Stampede 9 months ago, that match however never happened on the big stage. He was robbed of the opportunity to showcase his talents, but now he's coming for it. Daniel Bryan is still the champion, BUSHI is back and in a big way. I think we're destined for a showdown between them, and whether in Kenshiki in Japan or in Chicago at Uncensored in April, there is a good chance that we see a title change when it goes down.
Mauro Ranallo: And speaking of a good chance of a title change, it was our last time out here at Fall Brawl. Chris Masters coming so close to dethroning Samoa Joe as the World champion, but getting injured in the process. Surely he would have loved to have been the man challenging Joe over AJ Styles here in his hometown, but it was not meant to be. Injury healing slower than expected, we have yet to even see Masters compete since. However he is about to head out to the ring for some words and an update on his condition.
Josh Barnett: And don't be surprised if he throws down a challenge or 2, assuming of course he can still go.
Chris Masters |
*We come back to the ring and hear the familiar rift of "Livin' on a prayer" by Bon Jovi and we see Rockstar Spud is in the ring, doing a little dance, mike in hand and clad in an outlandish but smart all white elephant trunk covered suit and dark shades. The former NWA World Jr Heavyweight Champion and long time Windy City Zero Gravity Champion has been doing the interview scene and errand-boy gig over in Chicago for the powers that be recently and tonight Spud says he has been summoned to interview someone very special. Someone who has truly excelled in what he does. Someone who's body of work, is so impressive it might just be called...A Masterpiece!!!
~Cue the music and entrance that we all recognize as former Windy City Heavyweight Champion CHRIS MASTERS who walks out with a red cape wrapped around him. Chris waits... then explodes out of the cape into a big Front Double Biceps pose with a cocky looking grin on his face to a great pop from his home town crowd.
BOOM! Masters busts out a Side Triceps pose to the beat of the music as fireworks explode either side of him...
BANG! then a Back Lat Spread, then finally for the Pièce de résistance...a Front Abdominal that just makes you sick with jealousy. His abs look like they are chiseled out of stone as he looks directly into the nearby camera and winks and punches a 1-2 combo towards the camera and begins to swagger down to the ring.
Once Masters in the ring, Spud get's things started with Chris Masters;
Spud: Crissy my man, we've known each other a long time, nice to see you back in an NWA ring my brother!
Chris Masters: *Sneering* The pleasure is all yours I'm sure.
*Spud bats it away*
Spud: Hey, don't worry about the Rockstar, I'm going to be getting all the pleasure I can handle from my rats backstage tonight, but man The Masterpiece is back! You've been gone a long time, longer than the doc's expected, are you now over the shoulder injury and why did it take so long?
CM: Hah, Chris Masters is a genetic masterpiece, do you really think a little partially torn rotator cuff would keep me out this long?
Spud: I'm sure you could have been back in December, so why the hold out? Your fans wanted to see you. Windy City needed you! We didn't even hear a peep from you as well, what's up with that?
CM: Of course I could have come back a lot sooner but I decided to hold back a little, and make sure I was in tip-top condition and truly at 100%. So many times you see athletes rushing back and it just doesn't do them any favors. I wanted to be back sooner, but I wanted to be back to my best when I returned, especially when there are dangerous people like Samoa Joe lurking in the shadows ready to attack any weakness.
Speaking of SAMOA JOE! I know Joe's got a big match tonight against AJ Styles for the Worlds title but the Masterpiece hasn't forgotten what Samoa Joe did prior to our Fall Brawl championship match. Joe... you sneak attacked me like the pot-bellied coward you are and seriously injured my shoulder to the degree that I was off Windy City shows for MONTHS and had to vacate the Windy City Heavyweight Title. You tried to take me out of action before Fall Brawl because you were scared. You were nervous of what would happen if you faced off against me on an even-playing field! Well lucky for you, you injured my shoulder, but like the machine I am, I still competed, and I still gave you all you could handle and more. I was mere millimeters away from becoming the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion on multiple occasions and if my shoulder was 100% there was no chance in this world you would escape the Masterlock! The title would now be mine!... Yes you won, I'll give you that, but you were lucky I wasn't 100% or it would be another story being told tonight.
Samoa Joe, you face Styles tonight but I'm worried you won't be defeat AJ Styles. Your fat, out-of-shape and beat-up having defended your title up and down the country. I wish it was me getting the title shot tonight and not AJ Styles! Let's just say that leg day wasn't the only day that Samoa Joe has missed in the gym recently. Let me tell you, I lift weights...and for cardio I lift weights faster! Samoa Joe is an endangered species. If AJ Styles doesn't get him tonight, I will get him next!
Spud: That sounds like a challenge, do you have a specific challenge to the World Champion Samoa Joe?
CM: You know what Spud, there's a nice convenient date coming up in the calendar. April 26th, 2015 - the United Center, Chicago. I challenge the World Champion, whoever that will be, be it Samoa Joe or AJ Styles to face me at the next NWA pay-per-view "Uncensored"! I'm 100%, I'm in top form and a healthy Chris Masters deserves a shot at the title! If Joe loses tonight, and I hope he wins....I will be then targeting AJ Styles... but I won't forget about you Samoa Joe....if you can find your balls I dare you to return to my stomping ground Chicago! I will be seeing you again. I humble those who stand before me, and I will humble you Samoa Joe, I am The Masterpiece!
*Chris flexes his pecs in sequence, left, then right, then left, then right - great definition and control!*
CM: Now that's Masterful!

Mike Bennett | Matt Taven | The Young Bucks |
Taven starts the match against Nick Jackson, and he tries to keep things slow early, getting into the ropes to break things up and then telling the ref to back off the California native before using an eye poke to get the opening, and then begin to work him over. Bennett and Taven are now decorated, long term champions, and they've got a lot of chemistry from their time teaming, and are able to cut off Nick for awhile, and then shut down a hot tag from Matt, cutting him off as well and dealing out a lot of damage. Matt is able to withstand their assault, though, and manages to tag in the now fresh Nick, who comes in with an X-Factor off the ropes to Bennett, followed by ducking a clothesline attempt from Taven and then sending him to the outside with a Superkick. From there, The Young Bucks are able to hit a series of high risk moves on the outside with perfect choreography, avoiding big shots from the champions in the process with poise, and these California fans are behind their home state tag team, and the Bucks are looking good. Bennett manages to change the tides with a low blow to Matt Jackson, hitting his Side Effect to get a two count, but Nick makes the save with a Running Dropkick to his head. Taven flies in and hits Tornado DDT on Nick and then delivers a Taven Effect to Matt, but Matt gets his foot on the ropes to stop the pinfall! Taven heads up top, thinking Frog Splash, but Matt gets his knees up! Bennett is back up, but Matt low bridges him, and he flies to the outside. Nick is back up, and he and Matt are stalking Taven... Double Superkick! Matt Jackson pins, and it's all over, the Young Bucks are the new World Tag Team champions!

AJ Lee | Paige |
Early going here sees some back and forth taunting. AJ using the mind games of skipping around her opponent, rather than locking up. Finally they meet with Paige taking AJ back to the corner and ragdolling her out to the middle of the ring. As AJ gets up, Paige charges and knocks her down with a clothesline. AJ gets up and takes another clothesline. The next time she gets up, Paige hooks her up and suplexes over into a 2 count. The challenger then stands and leans over AJ, shouting that "THIS IS MY HOUSE!" right into her face. Paige then starts crawling across AJ, but this just gets some fire back into the World champion and she starts rolling with her until on top. AJ starts slamming the back of Paige's head into the mat. Paige turns them and they end up in the ropes for a referee's break. They ignore it though and instead roll out of the ring to the floor.
Paige manages to land on top and leans back, before headbutting AJ several times in rapid succession. She then picks up the champion and goes to Irish whip her into the barricade but AJ reverses it. Paige hits hard and AJ follows up by grabbing her by the hair and slamming her face into the announce table. With the ref's count mounting, AJ rolls inside and heads up to the top rope. The ref warns her, but she ignores it and leaps as Paige turns, but the challenger moves to the side and sends AJ jumping face first into the table. Paige stumbles before realizing the opportunity, grabbing the champion and rolling her back in. She quickly covers, but only manages a 2 count. She then stands and looks for the Scorpion Crosslock. Looking to hook in the arms for the double chicken wing, AJ instead manages to reach the ropes. Paige breaks, but steps out to the apron. As AJ gets up at the ropes, she leans through and the challenger takes advantage by charging in with a knee lift to the face. AJ however leans back and Paige has to stop abruptly, but ends up getting knocked down when AJ kicks the back of her leg to send her head first into the apron before dropping to the floor.
As Paige gets up outside, AJ comes charging in and dives through the ropes out onto the challenger. AJ then picks her up and rolls her in. As Paige gets up, AJ starts putting on the pressure. A front dropkick gets immediately followed by a swinging neckbreaker. AJ gets a 2 count and as she stands and picks Paige up, the challenger manages to step behind and get AJ into the Paige Turner, a swinging leg hook fireman's carry slam. AJ is out as Paige covers, but only manages a 2 count as the champ gets a shoulder up. Paige is upset by this and yells to the ref to count faster. She picks AJ up and looks for a Fisherman suplex, but AJ blocks it with her leg. Paige tries regardless, but AJ brings her down into a small package, scoring a 2 count before Paige kicks out. As they stand, Paige knees AJ in the midsection and takes her into the ropes. She whips her across and AJ runs back into a tilt a whirl that the champion manages to turn into a headscissors, and lock in the arm, and just like that, the Black Widow is applied. Paige avoids tapping, but eventually has no alternative.
AJ Lee wins the match and retain the Women's championship. Paige proved a worthy adversary, but was ultimately no match for the champion. The commentators do however make mention that earlier, Havok was seen defeating Audrey Marie in the #1 contenders match. While AJ can defeat Paige, will she be able to defeat the much larger, more devastating Havok when the time comes?

John Cena | Bully Ray |
This was nothing less than a WAR! Cena was fighting Bully Rays own kind of match to prove himself still to the fans and to get his revenge on Bully Ray for the attack at Fall Brawl that spoiled his title winning celebrations when he beat Mark Jindrak to win the belt.
Bully Ray and John Cena are both two very powerful men and they both held nothing back hitting each other with big power-moves. Cena dishing out Gutwrench Suplexes, Belly to Belly Suplexes, and Spinebusters and Bully wasn't shy in handing out his own carnage with hard hitting moves like Samoan Drops and a release powerbomb from the 2nd rope onto a table which almost picked up the pinfall.
The match then switched to a more vicious all out battle as various weapons came into play, such as chairs, more tables, ladders, steel chains and loads of other foreign objects. Both men by this point had taken a battering, with welts appearing on both men's backs and both men bleeding, Ray from the forehead but Cena was gushing blood from his nose, possibly broken, thanks to a hard potato shot from Bully Ray with the help of brass knuckles.
Ray zeroed in on the broken nose and purposely landed several hard big right hands aimed at the nose of Cena who tried to cover up the best he could but took loads more damage. Ray took advantage of the weakened state and stalked Cena but from out of nowhere Cena mustered some courage and spirit and lifted Ray up for a big spinebuster! Cena motioned to the crowd that this was over and hoisted Ray up and Attitude Adjustment! But Bully Ray kicked out! At the very last moment he kicked out! Cena was intense and he knew he had to do something big to put away his challenger, he wiped away some blood from his nose and smeared it onto his chest and tossed Ray onto a table. Cena scaled the tope rope and landed a big, high, Legdrop from the top rope onto Bully Ray and through the table! Cena covered, and this time it was enough to get the three count.
John Cena retains but both men are physically spent, Cena is given his belt by the ref, he drops to the canvas on his back exhausted and battered and his face shows that he has been through hell tonight to retain the belt and to try and earn some respect.
Mauro Ranallo: That match was a war in no other words as John Cena retains his title, and really top to bottom, up and down the card, the action has been intense tonight. Nothing however is bigger than what is to come. It's why we're all here, why we're all watching. Samoa Joe has held that World championship now for 9 months, but he has yet to face the challenge of anybody that is on the roll that AJ Styles is on as he enters this match.
Josh Barnett: CM Punk couldn't do it twice. Chris Masters couldn't do it ... twice. See a pattern there? AJ Styles does not have history on his side as he enters this match. You look at that, and then you consider that maybe he's done a little too much lately. Has he in fact worn himself out before we even get to tonight? I have to say that I don't like his chances here, but it's anybody's game as these 2 know each other and have been in the ring before. Neither man can go in at half speed, the foot is going to have to be down all the way here. It's whoever wants it more, plain and simple.
Mauro Ranallo: And as we heard earlier, Chris Masters wants another opportunity. He wants the winner at Uncensored in April on PPV, that event interestingly enough to take place in Chicago. Will the third time be a charm for him? Tonight though, forget Masters. Tonight is about 2 men. Samoa Joe. AJ Styles. And it's all about the NWA World Heavyweight championship.

He checks again, and again the arm falls and with baited breath these fans watch on. The referee checks again, and Joe can feel it, it's OVER! IT'S OV-NO! NO! STYLES CLINCHES HIS FIST AND KEEPS HIS ARM UP, HE'S ALIVE! HE'S STILL FIGHTING! JOE CAN'T BELIEVE IT!
Joe holds on, shaking his head and the fans chant for Styles. They can feel the momentum shifting and you can cut the tension with a butter knife! Styles gets to his feet, shaking his fists, and he tries to battle out with a series of elbows, but Joe puts a knee to his back and then pulls him down to the mat, dropping another elbow on him and trying to smother him for a cover, but the referee won't have it! Joe shoves the ref away and begins blatantly choking Styles, trying to put him to DEATH, but the referee puts his body between the champion and the challenger, and Joe backs off. That lasts only a moment, though, as Joe goes back on the attack, beating Styles like a government mule, as he sends stomp and clubbering blows to his back! Both men lay on the mat, and these fans are stomping and clapping, and we've got another StarrCade Classic here folks for the ages!
Both men are back up, with Styles bouncing off the ropes a bit. Joe sends a slap into his face, and Styles answers with a chop, WHOO! Joe and Styles trade chops here, and you could power the greater Inglewood metropolitan area with the electricity in this building! Joe cuts off Styles with a knee, but you can tell his left knee is having trouble holding him, and he's favoring it! Styles does a quick turn, and he catches Joe to that left knee with a basement Dropkick, and Joe is hurting, hopping on his right foot, trying to get away! Styles finds an energy reserve, and we've seen him turn it on before! He's got about a fourth wind here as he comes off the ropes and catches Joe with a chop block! You can see him drifting off, and Styles hangs on. The referee checks him, and his arm drops once. The fans are looking on amazed, chanting, and his arm drops again! The feeling is palpable in every sense of the word, and yes, YES, HIS ARM DROPS AGAIN! WE'VE GOT A NEW CHAMP!
Styles lets go, and his emotions take over him. WHAT A WAR! Joe takes a walk, or more accurately, a hobble, of shame up the ramp, and his long reign is over. AJ Styles is once again the Heavyweight Champion of the World! God Bless America, and Good Night!
