Not my best work, but its sort of a transistion show with all the new talent coming in and I think next week will help to establish those guys a bit more. Hopefully this is acceptable though.
NWA Maximum 06/03/2015 Results
"Commissioner of Asskicking" Steve Blackman is in his office to begin things.
"Hello wrestling fans. As you will know, we have had quite an influx of new talent over the past week, and this is because we here in NWA Maximum felt it was time to shake things up a little bit. And with good reason, because now i feel it is a good time to bring in one more title, the NWA maximum TV Title! This title will have just as much meaning as the Heavyweight Title will have, and will be decided in a 10 man tournament. It begins tonight with a battle royal. The last two men in this battle royal will get a bye to the semi finals of the tournament, with the 8 eliminated men facing off next week in 4 first round matches. Then we will have 2 three way dance semi finals and then the final to crown the first TV Champion. Enjoy the action tonight and let the asskicking commence!"
We start the show with announcer Lenny Leonard in the ring
"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the ring, former NWA World Heavyweight Champion and "The Most Hybrid Athlete In NWA History", Kyle Matthews!"
It is a mixed reaction but undoubtedly a massive one, as Kyle Matthews makes his way out, some cheering as he is one of the biggest stars to have come out of this area (though he is originally from Georgia), others booing as they remember his actions as the Antichrist in The Prophecy, a group that nearly brought the NWA to an end. Matthews shakes hands with Leonard and takes the mic.
Matthews: "Yes, you had better believe I'm back New Jersey, and no matter what you think of me, I'm glad to be back where I belong. Magnus D, I thank you for bringing me back to the place I belong, and Steve Blackman, your the toughest man I know and you know I'll give my all.
Now to business. For too long now, people seem to have forgotten about me, they seem to have forgotten just how big a threat I am. I am the man who defeated Alberto Del Rio in his home town for the NWA World Heavyweight Title, the man who put Brock Lesnar on the shelf when nobody else could, the man who formed The Prophecy and the man who brought this business to its knees. Maybe I didn't succeed with my ultimate plan, but you can't deny that I'm a big star in this business and I am not to be underestimated.
While I loved my time in CPW and I have all the respect in the world for Alberto Del Rio and Brock Lesnar, my brothers in The Hybrid Athletes, but its time to prove once again why not a single one of you so called higher ups in the NWA should ignore me. I am going to work my way back to the top, beating everyone in my path, and when the time is right I will become wear NWA gold once again. That is not some false prophecy, that is gospel, and if you dare underestimate me after all I've achieved, you will pay dearly. Because I am the most hybrid athlete in NWA history, and I will once again be an NWA Champion!"
Matthews turns to leave, but before he can Shelton Benjamin comes out to boos. He has something to say to Matthews.
Benjamin: "So you think you can just waltz back in here Kyle Matthews and call this your house again. Well you can't, because its my house now. Charlie Haas is a familiar name to you Kyle isn't it? He is after all the man who you beat in your NWA Hybrid Pro debut, which in turn set you off on the run to superstardom. Well I'm a whole different kind of wrestler from that guy, in fact I ran him out of here entirely because he was way too goofy, this is a serious business and there's no place for him here. I will bring your NWA maximum career to a standstill before it even begins! "
Matthews: I'm sorry, who are you again? Oh yeah, your the guy who's been Charlie Haas's bitch for the past few shows. Charlie Haas is one hell of a wrestler, I learned a lot in our series, and if you think you can disrespect him you have another thing coming. If your such a big man then fight me right here, right now!
Matthews throws the mic down and tells Benjamin to fight him. Benjamin seems up for it and we have a match.
"The Most Hybrid Athlete in NWA History" Kyle Matthews vs Shelton Benjamin
A good, competitive match here as Benjamin gave the former World champ a run for his money, using those tremendous amateur wrestling skills of his to control the action. Matthews however looked sharp, showing his own mat wrestling skills, the skills that brought him so much success in the NWA, and he would come out on top, making Benjamin tap to his signature Hidaka Lock.
Winner- Kyle Matthews
TV Title 1st Round Battle Royal
Participants- Bobby Roode, Bray Wyatt, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Johnny Gargano, Karl Anderson, Paul London, Randy Orton, Ted Dibiase, Wade Barrett
This may be one of the most star studded battle royals we've had here in New Jersey in quite some time, every single one of these men is deserving of a title in their own right and it is going to be one very difficult to predict tournament. But in this battle royal we are going to know exactly who the two frontrunners will be. It was a fairly standard battle royal, with the big themes being the hatred between Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase who of course had a big time feud in CPW, and the teamwork of EGO (Damien Sandow and Bobby Roode) to try and take everybody else out. It should also be noted that the man who got the biggest ovation of the lot in this match was Johnny Gargano, a hero here in New Jersey after all he has achieved here. But the most impressive man of the lot in this one was Randy Orton, a wrestler arguably very hard done by the NWA in recent years as he's never had a consistent run despite his immense talent, but he looked on fire here. Our eliminations went as follows-
Karl Anderson by Bobby Roode and Damien Sandow
Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase eliminated each other by brawling over the top rope to the floor
Bobby Roode by Randy Orton after miscommunication between EGO
Damien Sandow by Wade Barrett
Paul London by Bray Wyatt
Johnny Gargano by Randy Orton
Wade Barrett by Randy Orton
The final two were Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt, who will both get byes into the semi finals as a result of this. But they were playing for pride and there has to be a match winner, so they went back and forth to decide who that winner was. Wyatt looked like he had this sewn up, as he got ready to hit Sister Abigail, with an elimination after that inevitable. He goes for it, BUT ORTON TURN IT TO A POWERSLAM! Orton pounds the canvas with anger, begging Wyatt to get up for the RKO. He goes for it but Wyatt throws him off into the ropes, but Orton uses the momentum to hit a Clothesline that sends Wyatt flying back over the top rope to eliminate him and win the match!
Winner- Randy Orton (Bray Wyatt number two)
So Randy Orton win on the night, but both he and Bray Wyatt advance to the semi finals, with the other 8 competitors competing in 4 singles matches in the second round next week to determine who takes the 4 remaining semi final spots. The matches were drawn backstage here and there, and here are the TV Title Tournament second round matches-
Grudge Tag Match
Chris Jericho and Shane Helms vs The Fallen (Personal Demons and The Reject)
A big time grudge match here, as Jericho and Helms want revenge on The Fallen for their brutal attack on them on The Highlight Reel last week. The first match for the former Jeff Hardy since he turned on his brother, his ring style has noticeably changed: the flashy daredevil moves are still there, but gone are the theatrics, and every move seems to be hit with a new brutality and ruthlessness that I haven't seen from him before. And Moore also seemed changed: his own risks are still being taken, but with a far more reckless intent, almost as if he would die to take his opponent with him. There was no structure to this match really, as these four just brawled and it ended up being a Texas tornado match essentially. As we came to the end of the match, The Reject setup a table in the ring as Personal Demons starts pounding away on Helms on the outside with a chair, dragging him to the announce table. Demons climbs to the top rope, SWANTON BOMB THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE TO HELMS! Meanwhile Jericho is fighting back against The Reject in the ring, and hits him with the Codebreaker! But Jericho is not done, he sets up The Reject on the table and calls for a Moonsault from the top. He goes up top, but Demons is back in, he pulls The Reject from the table AND JERICHO GOES THROUGH IT! The Reject climbs up top, HALO! 1-2-3, the former Shannon Moore just got arguably the biggest win of his career!
Winners- The Fallen
The Fallen leave quickly, as Jericho slowly works his way to his feet, looking frustrated, and he has every right to be, but you can't deny that The Reject won fair and square, and Jericho and Helms will have to go back to the drawing board if they are to get some vengeance.
NWA Maximum Heavyweight Title Match
"Big Bad" Brodus Clay vs "The Man Beast" Rhino
A wild, wild match as you would expect, as much like their previous encounter these two went all out to hurt each other, and it wasn't pretty. The match was spilt right down the middle, as on the one hand Clay was able to use all of that power and size of his to dominate Rhino, but Rhino has just as much power and intensity, going all out to take Clay down and using any weapons he could get his hands on to do that, from a steel chair to tables to a garbage can at one point and even the ring bell. Indeed at one point, Rhino even managed to hit Clay with a Belly to Belly Suplex through TWO setup chairs, getting a "holy shit" chant from the fans. Clay however fought back from this, hitting a big Lariat and then a Fall Of Humanity that sent Rhino through another setup chair! He would drag Rhino over to the corner, where he prepared to hit the Brodus Bomb. But then BROCK LESNAR charges down to the ring, getting in and LOW BLOWING CLAY! POWERBOMB! Lesnar picks up Clay, F5! Lesnar leaves and I have no idea what his reasons were here. Rhino gets to his feet and sets a table up in the corner, and begs Clay to get up, which somehow he manages to do. GORE THROUGH THE TABLE! 1-2-3, NEW CHAMPION!
Winner- NEW NWA Maximum Heavyweight Champion, Rhino
Rhino can't quite believe he's won, but then he sees Lesnar pacing at the top of the ramp and looks furious, he clearly felt he was capable of winning this on his own as he shouts at Lesnar to stay out of his business. He makes an effort to help Clay to his feet and the two share a respectful handshake, admitting they are equals, with Clay not having any resentment to Rhino as it wasn't his fault that Lesnar got involved. The question is when will we see a match between Clay and Lesnar?
Its time for the main event, as The Pistols come out to a massive ovation from the fans and "welcome back" chants. Taven takes the mic.
Taven: Its great to be back here in New Jersey! Well that's what I'd like to say, but no, not it isn't great to be back in this hell hole of a state.
The fans completely turn on Taven as you would expect after that.
Taven: I haven't missed anything about competing here, leaving and going to NWA Mid Atlantic was the greatest thing we could have done for our career. The Pistols have thrived and now we are former NWA World Tag Team Champions. Now we are going to prove that above all else we are better than the supposed best team in this state, Los Maximos, and when we win those belts are going back to North Carolina and are getting thrown in the trash where they belong!
NWA Maximum Tag Team Title Match
Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo) vs The Pistols (Mike Bennett and Matt Taven)
It was a big main event, a chance for Los Maximos to show they were on the same level as former NWA World Tag Team Champions, and a chance for The Pistols to take some more gold. Los Maximos controlled it early with their quick double teams and high risk moves, but before long Taven and Bennett isolated Joel from his corner, doing whatever was necessary to keep him there which is all in the rules of course. Finally Joel broke free, made the tag to Jose and he took a few risk to get The Pistols down on the canvas. Taven slowed him down with some cane shots, but Joel threw Taven into a chair setup in the corner and hat the Ball Buster, with Bennett breaking up the fall. Bennett hits him with the Box Office Smash which also got a near fall, Jose breaking up the cover. The two exchange some punches before Bennett charges and gets thrown over the top rope, going through a table that had been setup outside the ring! Joel recovers as Jose puts Taven up top and they hit the Spanish Fly! 1-2-3, Los Maximos win and retain their titles.
Winners- Los Maximos
Los Maximos celebrate retaining their titles in impressive fashion, as Taven and Bennett leave vowing to get revenge for this loss. The show ends with Los Maximos posing for the fans as we fade to black, see you next week where our first TV Champion will be crowned!
