NWA Maximum Presents: Maximum Destruction Part 1
We start with a pre-recorded promo from EGO.
Sandow: "Unwashed masses, tonight you witness our rise to glory. The most gifted trio of professional wrestlers ever assembled will grab gold tonight from those undeserving fools Los Maximos, but not before I use my superior intelligence to pin Amazing Red to the canvas. For you see our team name really demonstrates our individual qualities, those qualities that when combined make us truly unstoppable. Take Bobby for example."
Roode: "I want to be known from here on in as "The Enigmatic" Bobby Roode, because what I bring to EGO is an unquestionable star presence and wrestling skills so good they cannot be defined or replicated!"
Sandow: "So very true. As for me, my intelligence is what I bring to EGO, you could call me a "Genius" if you prefer. With my superior intellect, there is no way we can lose to the other idiotic members of the NWA Maximum roster. And Cody, tell the masses what you bring to the table."
Rhodes: "Well Damien, what I bring to this team is a little bit of everything. I can brawl, I can wretle, I can fly through the air, I can think my way out of a tight spot and I can bend all the rules on my way to victory. In fact, there's only one word you can possible use to describe me: outstanding!"
Sandow: "How right you are Cody. So let me ask you unwashed masses what you get when you combine these three words: enigmatic, genius and outstanding. You get EGO! Now you know who we are and what we can do, you can watch us run all over our opponents tonight and come home with the gold. You're welcome!"
Amazing Red vs "The Genius" Damien Sandow
A strong opener for our show, as Red showcased all the high flying moves you would expect from him and Sandow had to battle to keep him on the ground. This one only lasted about five minutes, and was quite a sprint, but when Red missed a Red Star Press, Sandow would hit the Terminus, and that was enough to get him the 3 count.
Winner- Damien Sandow
Now we have a three way match between three men who have been battling for titles lately in NWA Maximum. Karl Anderson and Ted Dibiase make their way out, then Bad News Barrett rises up on his podium.
Barrett: "Karl Anderson, Ted Dibiase, you both think that you have bright futures here in the NWA. Perhaps you even think you have gold in your future. Well I have some BAD NEWS for you! I am the one with the brightest future of all, and the only man who's winning gold in NWA Maximum is me. My victory tonight will prove that NWA Maximum's future is full of Bad News!"
Bad News Barrett vs Ted Dibiase vs "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson
Barrett probably shouldn't have run his mouth so much pre-match, as this just lead to Dibiase and Anderson teaming up on him early on and beating the hell out of him. Anderson and Dibiase aren't allies though, so once Barrett was down they started firing away on one another, with the fan support definitely on the side of Karl Anderson. Dibiase however had with him a chain, which he used to bust open Anderson with some punches, an act that left him down and out on the canvas. Barrett managed to get the chain away from Dibiase as the two exchanged near falls, with Dibiase locking the Million Dollar Dream at one point which Barrett escaped. Barrett then hat the Bad News Bull Hammer that sent Dibiase flying out of the ring to the floor. Rather than grab Dibiase and drag him back in the ring, Barrett looked to the heavily bleeding Anderson, calling for the Wasteland. But Anderson had been playing possum, hitting the Gun Stun out of nowhere to score a very lucky 3 count and defeat the odds his blood loss had caused!
Winner- Karl Anderson
Bray Wyatt and Paul London, a team dubbing themselves as The Family, head for the ring. London is sporting a new beard plus is wearing sleeveless overalls, looking very much the hillbilly. Wyatt has lots to say regarding what happened last week with both Johnny Gargano and Kyle Matthews.
Wyatt: "Johnny, Johnny, Johnny, why do you strive to prove me right? Do you all remember what I said two weeks ago? I said Johnny that you are a man who feels he has a divine right to lead others, you think you can take any man and control him, make him do your bidding. But what happened to all those groups you formed man, all those allies you had? They woke up, realised they didn't need you any more and left.
And look at you now man, look at your desperation. You turn to a man who we fought together, a man who tried to kill the NWA dead, because there's nobody else left for you. I'm supposed to be the villain, yet you turn to one of the most evil men in NWA history and think you are justified. You aren't a hero Johnny Gargano, not anymore, now you belong with the buzzards just like Kyle Matthews does.
Want some proof? Look to this man next to me, Paul London. He's a man who wants acceptance, he wants a family and now he has a brother in me. He was driven to madness by Kyle Matthews, the evil poisoned his mind in The Prophecy and still talks to him to this day. But what drove him to join The Prophecy in the first place? You did Johnny Gargano. He couldn't live in an NWA where a World Junior Champion is so undeserving of his crown. Paul London has fought for years for recognition and has nothing, while you win a World Title and couldn't give a damn. What kind of a world is that?
You are both guilty, and The Family will pass sentence on you both individually, because we know you won't be able to co-exist. Your egos are too large, you aren't brothers like me and Paul and the hatred you feel for one another will only drive you further apart. Then you will simply go the way of the buzzards when The Family brings your dreams to their end"
Wyatt and London leave as we see Johnny Gargano watching on a monitor backstage, then we cut to Kyle Matthews also watching the promo. Next week Johnny Gargano will respond, and will perhaps try to persuade Kyle Matthews to join him in a mutual battle versus The Family. Can Gargano persuade Matthews to put their differences aside to fight a common enemy, or will we see these two collide in another epic encounter?
Non-Title Match
"The Man Beast" Rhino vs Ezekiel Jackson
Ezekiel Jackson, who was recently released from NWA Impact, was given a shot here against the champ in a non-title match. While this match did largely end up being a showcase for Rhino, Jackson still had his moments, even getting Rhino in the Torture Rack at one point, but he managed to escape. Shortly after this Rhino would hit the Gore, and that was enough to get him the victory.
Winner- Rhino
It's time for the contract signing between Randy Orton and James Storm for their NWA Maximum TV Title Match, in what must potentially be Randy Orton's toughest title match to date. "Commissioner of Asskicking" Steve Blackman is out to oversee the proceedings. Both men make their way out to the ring to good ovations from the fans.
Blackman: "Gentlemen, thank you both for coming to this contract signing. This is the sort of match I feel can bring real prestige to the NWA Maximum TV Title: a talented, deserving champion versus a hard working challenger, it's the sort of thing that pro wrestling should be about. I want you both to sign the contract and then shake hands."
Storm puts his name on the contract first of all, then Orton does the same. The two have a long staredown that gets the fans going, before they exchange a handshake.
Blackman: "Thank you both for your cooperation, I look forward to you both giving an asskicking of a lifetime next week!"
Blackman leaves and then Orton turns to leave, but before he does Storm takes the mic.
Storm: "Wait one minute there Randy. I know this match isn't until next week, but I don't think these fans paid to just watch us sign a bit of paper. What do you say we give them a preview of what they can expect next week?"
Orton nods with agreement, and they start exchanging punches! Orton goes for the RKO, but Storm throws him off into the ropes and looks for the Last Call, which Orton avoids. Orton then takes Storm down with two Clotheslines followed by a Powerslam, and pounds the canvas with anger as he wants that RKO. He goes for it one more time but Storm shoves him off and hits a Spear! Storm then looks for the Eyes of the Storm, but Orton slips out the back and escapes the ring, calling that enough for one day.
The two exchange another staredown as Orton heads up the ramp with his title, but Storm looked like he was an equal match here and he is going to be difficult to beat. I can't wait for next week!
NWA Maximum Tag Team Title Match
Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo) vs EGO ("The Enigmatic" Bobby Roode and "Outstanding" Cody Rhodes)
A rematch from a few weeks ago, but with a different pairing this time around as Cody Rhodes teams with Bobby Roode for EGO. It played out in a similar manner to the first match involving these teams, as Los Maximos showed their double team skill and their high flying abilities, while EGO used all of their in-ring smarts to turn the match in their favour and ground their faster opponents. Then the match would, as was the case with their previous encounter, take a shady turn as Damien Sandow ran out for the ring, interrupting a Spanish Fly attempt on Rhodes by shoving Joel to the floor AND HE GOES THROUGH A TABLE ON THE OUTSIDE! Sandow then pulls Jose off the turnbuckle and his You're Welcome. Amazing Red charges to the ring for the save, hitting Sandow with a Hurricanrana to take him to the outside, THEN HITTING HIM AND ROODE WITH A TOPE! Rhodes has recovered in the ring though and lifts up Jose. CROSS RHODES! 1-2-3, EGO win the belts!
Winners- NEW NWA Maximum Tag Team Champions, EGO
Once again controversial circumstances here, but before Steve Blackman can come out to restart the match as he did last time this occurred, EGO grab the belts and run through the crowd. Los Maximos have been screwed over by outside interference, but I have no doubts that "The Commissioner of Asskicking" will do something about this injustice.
The Fallen (Personal Demons and The Reject) vs Chris Jericho and Shane Helms
The grudge between Chris Jericho, Shane Helms and The Fallen only continues to grow bigger and bigger, with the match between Chris Jericho and Personal Demons now set for Uncensored in what could end up being Y2J's final match. There was no way this match was going to play out as a traditional tag match, it was a Texas Tornado and Demons used this to keep out of Jericho's way, as he battled Helms and Jericho fought with The Reject. Demons could only run for so long though and Jericho got his hands on him, grabbing a kendo stick and smashing Demons with it repeatedly and then trying to choke him with it, showing just how personal this rivalry has gotten. Demons managed to sneak a Low Blow on Jericho, slamming him down before going up top looking for the Swanton Bomb. But before he can hit it, the arena goes dark once again and a message appears on the screen-
I recognise that quote from the song "Reborn" by Slayer, but these words are no doubt from the same person who made the comments last week. The fans chant "We want Matt" at the top of their voices as Demons climbs down and heads up the ramp and backstage, begging for him to show himself and face him like a man. But in doing so he forgot what's going on in the ring, as The Reject gets beaten down 2 on 1 by Jericho and Helms. Jericho locks him in the Walls of Jericho forcing The Reject to tap out
Winners- Chris Jericho and Shane Helms
A much needed win for Jericho and Helms, they have got one over The Fallen even if it was thanks to the help of a certain mysterious person. With Uncensored a couple of weeks away, can Jericho build on this and ensure his career continues for years to come, or will he fall to Personal Demons?
"Big Bad" Brodus Clay vs Brock Lesnar
The two start the match with an intense staredown, before they lock up and that leads to a stalemate. A second lock up and we get the same. One more lockup and Clay manages to throw Lesnar to the corner, BUT LESNAR CHARGES BACK WITH A CLOTHESLINE TO TAKE CLAY DOWN! Lesnar picks Clay up and throws Clay into the ropes, but Clay ducks underneath, FALL OF HUMANITY! 1-2-LESNAR LIFTS UP CLAY, RIB BREAKER! Lesnar look winded by the Fall of Humanity but still in better shape than Clay, as he grabs a chair and unloads on Clay with a few sickening chair shots, weakening him further. He throws Clay into the corner and hits some big knees to the gut, then tosses him across the ring with a Belly to Belly Suplex. He goes for the cover, 1-2-NO! Lesnar throws Clay into the ropes and hits a picture perfect Powerslam. 1-2-NO! Lesnar begins to look frustrated, but calls for a Powerbomb. He tries to life Clay up, but Clay is resisting, and manages to toss Lesnar over his shoulder, before they both go down with a Double Clothesline. The ref starts a 10 count and Lesnar makes it up first at 7, with Clay up at 9. Lesnar charges, but Clay grabs him and hits an Exploder! He grabs Lesnar by the throat, Chokeslam! 1-2-NO, Clay almost had it. He picks up Lesnar and slams him down, then climbs to the top. BRODUS BOMB! 1-2-LESNAR KICKS OUT AND LIFTS UP CLAY! F5! 1-2-3, Lesnar wins it!
Winner- Brock Lesnar
So Lesnar has won the first match in the series, but Brodus Clay gave him a real fight. Two weeks from tonight, these two will meet in the second match in the series, a Hell in a Cell match! It is sure to be an excellent matchup, but make sure to join us next week for the second Maximum Destruction special, featuring a tag team match as Brock Lesnar and Personal Demons do battle with "Big Bad" Brodus Clay and Chris Jericho!
We start with a pre-recorded promo from EGO.
