Women's champion: **title vacant**
Dark match sees Ryan Howe defeat Aaron Sky @ 4:52 via tap out to the Whammy Bar, a Fujiwara Armbar. A measure of revenge for The Rockstar against the man that turned on him a couple months back to join up with Shelly Martinez, noticeably absent here as she prepares for her night with Eddie Diamond. Sky had control of the fast paced match, but as he wrent for the springboard splash using the top rope, Howe got up and got the arm, using Sky's momentum to force him into the mat. From there, Howe easily applied the submission and took the win. As with any Ohio Valley iPPV, last minute internal tests of the stream are conducted here as any last minute glitches are hopefully fixed and worked out before going live.

Dean Hill | Jim Cornette | Scarlett Bordeaux |
Jim Cornette: From a packed Davis Arena here in Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio Valley Wrestling and the NWA present Best In The World!
Dean Hill: Hello wrestling fans, I'm Dean Hill alongside the Louisville slugger himself Jim Cornette, and tonight is the night. 6 months in the making. Finally it's here. Jamin Olivencia against CM Punk, OVW title is on the line.
Jim Cornette: From the moment CM Punk stepped into that ring back at Rage In The Cage and gave Jamin the Go To Sleep, this match has been building and it's now at a fever pitch. This is what wrestling's about, there is not a spare seat in the building. And not only that, but we have 7 other big matches lined up and ready to go. Including Dean, a big women's match when the NWA World champion AJ Lee puts her title on the line against Heidi Lovelace.
Dean Hill: Add to that, Trailer Park Trash doing it 1 more time against Dylan Bostic in a Hardcore rules match. You've got probably the most personal match on the show in what might be the most personal rivalry in all of wrestling today for that matter with Paredyse against The Psychodelic Superstar Chris Silvio in a Dog Collar match. Submission match for the TV Title with champion Eric Locker defending against Michael Hayes, 1 man will tap out.
Jim Cornette: And let me say that if you've never seen OVW before. If you're watching for the first time for the name CM Punk as I'm sure a few out there are, you have never seen anything like the heart and the desire of Michael Hayes. A veteran of the Iraq war that lost his leg defending this country. Then perhaps the most impressive wrestler in the company today, Chase Owens, only 25 years old. He gets put to the test, student vs teacher, a legend of this area in half of The Rock N Roll Express, Ricky Morton. And keeping with The East, Ironman Rob Conway has his work cut out for him against The Vanilla Godzilla Jax Dane.
Dean Hill: We don't want to waste any more time though. We're kicking things off with the big Survival of The Fittest match. We started with 12, we're down to 6, and we're going to keep going until 1 is standing. For that we send it up to ring announcer Scarlett, standing by for the introductions. Take it away.
Survival of The Fittest Elimination match

Cliff Compton | Elijah Burke | Jeremiah Plunkett | ||

Marcus Anthony | Melvin Maximus | Rudy Switchblade |
This match is a continuation from Saturday's TV. Each wrestler here had to win a match to qualify, seeing Colt Cabana, Eddie Diamond, Nick Dinsmore, Ryan Howe, Shiloh Jonze, and Aaron Sky eliminated in the round of 12. The rules are that of a 6 man scramble. Every man for himself at the same time, eliminations by pinfall, submission, countout, or DQ. It keeps going until only 1 man is left standing.
The wrestlers are cautious in getting the action started. Finally Marcus Anthony steps to mid ring and calls Melvin Maximus forward. Wasting no time, Maximus steps up and the 2 heavy hitters start to slug away on each other. As this happens, Jeremiah Plunkett uses the opportunity to jump Elijah Burke and start to work away on him. Rudy Switchblade, perhaps wisely, exits the ring and goes to the floor. Clearly he intends to bide his time with this match. Perhaps necessary to be the sole survivor. He argues with some fans, missing Cliff Compton come from behind. Switchblade turns and eats a right hand. Meanwhile inside the ring, Anthony gets the better of Maximus and hits the ropes for a shoulderblock, but it's the unbeatable force meeting the unmovable object as both stand their ground.
The action continues in the pairings with Compton and Switchblade getting back into the ring. Burke gets sent to the floor, leading to Plunkett joining Switchblade in a brief double team before Burke gets back inside. Anthony and Maximus meanwhile continue their battling, seeing Maximus reverse Anthony into an Irish whip to the corner. Maximus charges in and misses, hitting only turnbuckle. As the momentum takes him back, Anthony hits the ropes and catches him with a running shoulder block that sends Maximus through the ropes and to the outside with the force. Anthony heads out and the 2 start brawling on the floor. Anthony gets in some shots, but a distraction from manager Timmy Danger proves costly. Anthony turns his back to Maximus and after following Danger, gets crushed against the metal ringpost as Maximus charges from behind. The count is rising and Maximus goes to re-enter the ring, but gets dropkicked by Burke as he starts to get up onto the apron. The bell sounds as the count reaches 10.
Marcus Anthony and Melvin Maximus are both counted out @ 6:44 while brawling outside on the floor.
The 2 biggest threats from a physical standpoint are eliminated first, and they are not done with each other. Maximus grabs Burke and pulls him out of the ring, putting him into a bear hug on the floor. Anthony jumps him from behind and the 2 start a brawl that takes them to the back. Plunkett and Switchblade seem to have an agreement as they work over Compton. Any attempt by Burke sees him get cut off from getting back in. Compton ducks a double clothesline attempt and makes a brief comeback. He gets right hands in on both before isolating Plunkett. Compton sets up for the Cliffhanger, a springboard tornado DDT, but as he goes up into the corner and turns, he heads directly into the waiting arms of Switchblade, catching him with the RudyKO jumping cutter. Plunkett falls on top as the referee goes down and makes the count, registering a 3.
Jeremiah Plunkett eliminates Cliff Compton @ 10:07 via pinfall after Rudy Switchblade's RudyKO.
Plunkett and Switchblade get up with Compton eliminated, and the respective leaders of The East and The Blacklist give a high 10 as they have managed to figure out a way to get to the final 2 with ease, but Cornette is not sure he would trust the other. Switchblade directs Plunkett to Burke getting up on the apron, but Burke manages to catch Plunkett by dropping down and hanging him neck first on the top rope. Switchblade goes over and tries to reach over and grab Burke, but takes a shoulder to the gut. Burke flips over into a sunset flip, scoring a 2 count before Plunkett breaks it up. The double team starts up again, but Burke would move as Switchblade held him for a big right from Plunkett. Switchblade goes down instead and Plunkett turns into a kick to the gut. Hunched over, Burke grabs him and drops him face first into the mat with the Elijah Experience, a sitout facebuster. The ref drops and counts 3.
Elijah Burke eliminates Jeremiah Plunkett @ 13:36 via pinfall after the Elijah Experience.
Down to 1 on 1 and Switchblade heads outside, requesting a mic. He says that the offer still stands for Burke to join The Blacklist. Join them right now and all he has to do is lay down. Burke after some consideration, perhaps shockingly, agrees! Switchblade smiles and heads in as Burke drops to his back. Switchblade goes into the cover, getting a 2 before Burke turns him and hooks the leg, nearing getting the 3. Switchblade gets up, pissed off. Burke just shakes his head and says no way. Switchblade charges, but Burke moves and starts laying in with right hands. Burke has control, eventually setting up for the Elijah Experience, but Switchblade counters and takes the hands into a reverse wristlock. Burke turns as Switchblade goes for the cutter again, but Burke shoves him off. Burke charges to the corner with a double running knee, but Switchblade moves. Burke hits and falls back, rolling to his feet. He turns and takes the RudyKO. The ref makes the count ... only a 2 before Burke gets a shoulder up.
Burke kicks out of the RudyKO! Switchblade can't believe it, but he is not going to dwell. He picks up Burke and tries it again, but The Pope counters into a backslide. Ref counts, but another 2. As they get up, Burke with a small package, another 2. Switchblade catches Burke with a clothesline to put a stop to the near falls. He motions this is over. He picks up Burke and goes for a suplex, but it gets reversed. As they get up, Burke is in control. Switchblade goes into the ropes and eats an elbow to the face. Burke repeats again. He goes to the corner and climbs up to the middle rope, delivering 10 punches while the crowd cheers along. Burke continues with the offense, eventually heading up to the middle rope. He waits for Switchblade to get up and leaps off for a clothesline, but Switchblade maneuvers that into the RudyKO out of nowhere. He rolls Burke to his back and covers.
Rudy Switchblade eliminates Elijah Burke to win the match @ 18:53 via pinfall after the RudyKO.
Switchblade wins the 2015 Survival of The Fittest. Already guaranteed a return match for the OVW championship, owed to him from losing the title at the March 7 Saturday Night Special, this has to move him to the top of the list. Cornette as Director of Authority says that it certainly makes the case, but reminds viewers that even in defeat here, Burke does still have that briefcase containing the guaranteed shot at the title that he can cash in, any time, even tonight. Perhaps looking to make sure that doesn't happen, Shiloh Jonze gets into the ring and Switchblade directs him to take out Burke. The Blacklist leader meanwhile heads out and gets the physical briefcase. Burke gets up at the ropes after taking several kicks on the mat, and turns into the briefcase shot. Cornette says the argument is certainly there right now that Switchblade deserves the next chance at whoever wins tonight's main event between Jamin Olivencia and CM Punk, but not with behavior like this.
Panel discussion
Gilbert Corsey | Nick Dinsmore | Michael Titus | Christopher Daniels |
Gilbert Corsey is now joined by a panel to discuss the previous match, Rudy Switchblade winning Survival of The Fittest.
Nick Dinsmore: "Rudy Switchblade is an extremely dangerous competitor right now. Outlasting names like Elijah Burke, Cliff Compton, Jeremiah Plunkett, Marcus Anthony, and Melvin Maximus is no easy task. He might have only had the championship for a month, but you factor in what we just saw with changes like removing The French Stallion, and it shows he is a very real and very serious threat.
Michael Titus: "Haha! Of course The Blacklist wins because The Blacklist always wins! Elijah Burke was a fool to turn down Rudy Switchblade and he paid for it. Not only in losing the match, but what happened afterward. That briefcase that Burke has means nothing if he can't cash it in, and that looks to be the case tonight. Switchblade is not just the best wrestler in OVW right now, he is OVW!"
Christopher Daniels: "It's unfortunate what just happened to Elijah, but as everybody knows, I have been working with him. He initially had problems in the wake of the loss to CM Punk, but I don't think you'll see the same reaction this time around. He rebuffed the offer from The Blacklist, a smart move in my opinion. He might not cash that in tonight, but he has 6 more months, he will, and when he does, he will become the OVW Heavyweight champion!"

Ricky Morton | Chase Owens |
This match is teacher vs student. Young vs experienced. Chase Owens is considered to be among the best wrestlers in OVW today, but Ricky Morton is not pleased with his treatment in The East. He starts the match out by putting a finger in Owens chest, telling him that he's better than that. Owens however slaps the hand away and the match is on. Despite an early onslaught of offense, Morton would take control of the match and show that even at 58, he can still be a force in the ring. He would catch a near fall, getting tossed up into the air and going into a hurricanrana to take Owens over into a cover as he rolled through and hooked the leg. After some more offense and a dropkick, Morton heads up to the top rope. He dives off with a crossbody, but Owens is able to roll through into a 2 count of his own. As they get up, Owens goes for the Roaring Elbow, but Morton manages to side step and leap into a wheelbarrow. Owens catches him and flips him up. Owens spins as Morton lands on his feet, immediately taken out by the discus elbow smash. Owens covers as the referee gets down and makes the 3 count. The Crown Jewel picks up a big victory, and the commentators wonder what The East has done to his head. Owens is a lethal weapon and in the hands of an architect like Jeremiah Plunkett, it spells trouble for OVW.
Chase Owens defeats Ricky Morton @ 8:25 via pinfall after the Roaring Elbow.
Submission match for the TV championship

Challenger Michael Hayes | Champion Eric Locker |
After seemingly winning the title at the March 7 Saturday Night Special, Michael Hayes had the moment taken away from him when the following week, legal representative Christian Mascagni presented evidence for client Eric Locker that the match had an error on behalf of the referee. Threatening legal action if the referee was not fired or the title returned, Hayes voluntarily returned the championship, not wanting anybody to suffer for a mistake. An immediate rematch was ordered, but Locker walked and took the countout loss. Here tonight though, the only way to win is through submission. Hayes is known for the Liberty Lock, an Anaconda Vice like hold, while Locker has adopted the ankle lock with great effectiveness in the last month.
The 2 go back and forth before any submissions are attempted. Both attempt pins before being reminded of the stipulation. Hayes almost locks in the Liberty Lock, but Locker slithers out to the floor and avoids it. After some more action, Locker would reverse a waist lock to get behind Hayes. From there, he lifted him up into the Electric Chair, dropped him back down into a German suplex, connecting with his finisher the Hurt Locker. Locker then began working over the ankle, a bad situation for Hayes when he only has 1 thanks to a legit explosion in the Iraq war that took away his other leg. Locker finally puts on the ankle lock, but Hayes shows heart as he avoids the submission. He will not tap, but Locker pulls him to mid ring and drops down, securing the ankle lock with nowhere to go. Hayes tries to fight it and finally raises his hand as if to start tapping, but the crowds chants of "Michael, Michael, Michael" are enough to give him the motivation to keep going. Locker was able to roll them over putting Locker on his stomach and quickly transitioned that into the Liberty Lock! Fans cheered on as the tables were turned. Locker was on the verge of tapping when from the back came Shiloh Jonze of The Blacklist.
Jonze immediately climbed up onto the apron to draw the referee's attention. Locker began tapping, but with the referee not paying attention, this was missed. Hayes released the hold and went over to Jonze, decking him in the face and pulling him into the ring over the top rope. Hayes then put Jonze into the Liberty Lock and got an instant tap out, but Locker was up by this point and kicked Hayes. Jonze went outside and got a chair as Locker directions him to put it on Hayes' ankle to snap it aka "Pillmanize" it. Hayes however got up and instead leaped, grabbing the chair Jonze was holding, delivering his jawjacker to the knee, except Jonze's head hit the chair with force for added impact. Locker grabbed Hayes as he got up, but Hayes quickly reversed it into taking Locker down and once again applied the Liberty Lock. Locker fought the tap, but finally gave in. Locker taps! Hayes wins! Hayes has done it, winning the TV Title. The biggest victory of his career thus far as the ref hands him the championship belt and he raises it up, no doubt about this time around. Locker & Jonze convene on the floor, seemingly trading the blame.
Michael Hayes defeats TV champion Eric Locker to capture the title @ 13:17 via tap out to The Liberty Lock.
Backstage Interview
Terry Bodie | Jamin Olivencia |
Backstage, The Fan Advocate Terry Boddie is joined by Heavyweight champion Jamin Olivencia. A big night with the match looming merely an hour away after 6 months in the making to get here. Any last minute thoughts?
Jamin Olivencia: "Do I have any last minute thoughts? Yeah, I've got a couple. For starters, how many Standing O's will it take before CM Punk is knocked the F out? This match tonight? Everything we're doing? It could have went a different path. In Punk's mind, this is about reiterating to himself that he's the best, he's this, bla bla bla. In my mind, that whole side of things, it went out the window with his recent actions. I'm no longer doing this just to prove to myself that I can compete with the best. This match tonight is being fought in the name of Ohio Valley, the fans, heck, any wrestler out there who's ever been the target of this man's agenda. CM Punk, you might be some social media trending big deal with what you've done across the NWA and your whole UFC thing you've got going on, but I could care less about any of that. Tonight, I go into that ring OVW champion, and I leave ... OVW champion. You? You leave with nothing but a name you can use to ride on in to your next destination. Me? I leave having proven that I belong. Worthy of my title, and worthy of being called ... best ... in the world."

Rob Conway | Jax Dane |
Former tag team partners collide up next. While never having teamed up in OVW, Rob Conway & Jax Dane had years of experience on the indies outside of the NWA as The Iron Godz. Conway found himself pitted against Jeremiah Plunkett and The East, at which point Dane showed his true colors by siding with Plunkett and their shared West Virginia run to close 2014. No sign of any other members of The East, but as the commentators mention, that means nothing with that group as they tend to conduct business in a rather back handed way it would seem. Much of the match focuses on Conway trying to take it to the larger Dane without much success. While the experience edge goes to Conway, it maybe gets negated by how well they know each other. Dane starts to take control of the match, hitting the spinebuster finisher on Conway but is only able to draw a 2 count before The Ironman gets a shoulder up. Conway starts to make a comeback, rocking Dane but unable to take him down. Finally a clothesline from the middle rope drops Dane to 1 knee. Conway smells blood as Dane looks worn and gassed out. He locks in the front facelock and then drives Dane over and down with the whiplash finisher, the Ego Trip. Conway covers and it's enough to put Dane down for the win. The Ironman downs 1 member of The East, but after the match makes sure it's known as he tells the camera that he's coming for revenge on Jeremiah Plunkett.
Rob Conway defeats Jax Dane @ 8:48 via pinfall after the Ego Trip.
Hardcore Rules match
VS | ||
Trailer Park Trash | Dylan Bostic |
The history here begins when Trailer Park Trash was still the Director of Authority, forcing Dylan Bostic into a dress through stipulation after a loss in a TV Title match. For Bostic, the then "Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling", this was extra humiliating, failing to win and lose dress. Bostic finally had enough and went on strike, until being called out by TPT at the last iPPV Retribution, ending in an exchange where TPT got physical and suspended from his position. Bostic was now free of the dress, rechristened himself with the nickname New Wave, and put together a win streak. TPT returns tonight for 1 final match and in his specialty, the hardcore match. Bostic has held his own against Flash Flanagan and Mad Man Pondo in recent weeks, but neither have the motivation that TPT has entering this match.
TPT wastes no time as he heads out with a garbage can filled with weapons and tosses it into the ring. Bostic tries jumping him, but TPT gets the better and then empties the can. After hitting Bostic over the head with it, TPT goes to the weapons. First up, a keyboard. The strike sends computer keys flying around the ring as Bostic gets waffled. A barbed wire wrapped bat was next, but Bostic jumped from the ring. TPT followed, but missed Bostic grabbing a chair around the corner. Bostic hit TPT with the chair and then took the bat, hitting him over the back with it. TPT rolls into the ring as Bostic produces a bag. He gets in the ring, opens it and empties the contents with thumbtacks spreading out on the mat. TPT gets up as Bostic goes for a suplex, but he is able to block it and reverse it. TPT sets up the garbage can in the corner, Irish whipping Bostic in. TPT exits, lifts up the apron and pulls out a ladder, placing it on the apron. He then pulls out a table and leans it against the apron before Bostic hits a low dropkick on the ladder, sending it into TPT. Bostic pulls in the ladder and sets it up. He then exits and gives TPT a right before sliding the table in. Bostic rolls TPT in as this match may be on the verge of going to a new level.
Bostic sets up the table and then sprawls TPT out on top. He starts to climb the ladder, but TPT gets up and goes to the side of the ladder, pushing it over and sending Bostic crotch first onto the top rope. TPT adds to it as he shakes the top rope before Bostic falls into the ring. TPT hits some punches before catching Bostic with a DDT. He then covers and gets a 2, before motioning to the tacks as he brings Bostic back up. TPT goes to slam Bostic except Bostic manages to drop behind and instead jump up, bringing TPT back first into 2 knees as they fall back. TPT gets to a knee as Bostic hits him with the garbage can lid. He then sets up for a suplex into the tacks, this time hitting it. The tacks stick to TPT's white wife beater undershirt attire as Bostic puts him across the table again. He heads up the ladder and comes off with a legdrop, driving both wrestlers through the table. He covers, picking up the 3 count for the win.
Dylan Bostic defeats Trailer Park Trash @ 9:32 via pinfall after a leg drop through a table.
Bostic gets a big win on OVW's biggest stage here. After some celebrating TPT gets up and looks to not be finished. He pushes the ref out of the way and turns Bostic. TPT then surprisingly extends a hand, demanding Bostic shake it. Bostic is hesitant, but TPT orders it. Bostic shakes the hand as TPT nods and tells him "good job". The fans cheer as Bostic exits the ring, giving TPT a moment in what was billed as 1 last match for the retired wrestler. The fans stand and applaud TPT as from the back comes good friend Flash Flanagan. He gets in and lifts TPT's arm, but quickly changes his tone when he pulls him in and hits a rock bottom. The fans boo as Flash gets up and stands over TPT, looking disgusted. He then exits and brings out a kendo stick. TPT gets to his knees as Flash tells him that he just lost to a little punk @$$ ***** and then shook his hand afterward, making him sick. He then blasts TPT with a shot right to the head, but from the back comes Bostic. Fans cheer as Bostic slides in for the save of the man he just earned respect from, but Flash exits before a fight. Bostic challenges him to get back in there, but Flash only tells him he's next. A bit of a role reversal here as Bostic earns some respect, while Flash loses any he had.
Backstage Interview
Terry Bodie | CM Punk |
Backstage, The Fan Advocate Terry Boddie is joined by CM Punk. Earlier, we heard from Jamin Olivencia ahead of their title match later tonight, what is going through Punk's head as D-Day approaches? Any regrets of his actions?
CM Punk: "Regrets? You're asking me if I have any regrets over what I did? Yeah, I have regrets. I regret that I couldn't do more. Don't act like I'm in the wrong here. Everything I did, every action I took, OVW brought it upon themselves. When I got in that cage and gave Jamin the GTS, he deserved it. When I beat Pope, he deserved it. When I vacated the OVW Women's Title and made it worthless, AJ smashing it with a hammer, all of you deserved it when you didn't give me the shot I deserved when I walked through the door. What wasn't deserved was Christopher Daniels avoiding me as World champion. OVW throwing me into matches with Samoa Joe to try and mess with me. Tonight I'm winning that title, I'm proving like I always do that I am without a doubt #1. And after that, I'm walking out the door, never to be seen again. I don't care if you gave Jamin back the title, have a match for it, a tournament for it, a battle royal, it doesn't matter. I'll be onto the next, you will all be left knowing that whoever gets that title, they never beat me. The supposed best in OVW is not the best because I am and I will have proved it. Live with it. Sleep at night knowing it. I'm CM Punk, and I'm the best in the world. End of story."
NWA World Woman's championship match
VS | ||
Challenger Heidi Lovelace | Champion AJ Lee |
After coming up short in an attempt at AJ Lee and the NWA World championship back in July at the Great American Bash PPV, tonight Heidi Lovelace has a second chance to ascend to the top of women's wrestling. What should be merely about the title though is instead given an added grudge when AJ simultaneously captured the OVW Women's championship, only for the belt to be used as a prop by CM Punk in making a statement. With the belt vacated and insult thrown to her own accomplishments, Lovelace looked to get a shot at AJ to prove OVW women's wrestling was more than that. She earned the shot, but AJ took it a step further by smashing the OVW Women's championship belt with a hammer at the last Saturday Night Special.
The match begins with AJ jumping Lovelace before the bell. Kicks send Lovelace to the corner where AJ ragdolls her out and down to the mat. She then drops down and starts rubbing Lovelace's face into the mat like it's the dirt. AJ then grabs Lovelace by the back of the head and slams it into the mat. The fans boo as AJ boasts. Lovelace gets up as AJ goes for a spinning kick, but Lovelace ducks and instead drives AJ into the corner. A couple shoulders to the midsection later and Lovelace takes AJ out and sends her into the ropes, hitting a Thesz press. The 2 exchange some blows, rolling around until they get to the corner. AJ gets up, using the ropes to get the referee to back Lovelace off, poking her in the eyes as the ref was distracted. AJ puts Lovelace into the corner and delivers a vicious chop. AJ Irish whips Lovelace across to the corner, catching her with a front dropkick as the momentum sends her out. AJ gets a 2 count but Lovelace kicks out. AJ gets Lovelace up and goes to a sleeper hold. Lovelace looks to be going out but instead drives AJ back first into the corner to break free. Lovelace steps out as AJ charges out and goes for a tilt-a-whirl headscissors takedown but Lovelace blocks it and insteads lands AJ to her feet, catching her with a clothesline. Lovelace covers but only gets 2.
As Lovelace gets up, AJ sweeps her feet out. AJ gets up and as Lovelace gets to 1 knee, hits her with the shining wizard. No capitalizing though, instead taking some recovery time. AJ then gets Lovelace up and delivers a Shiranui, enough to get another 2 count but not the 3. AJ has had enough and goes for The Black Widow, but Lovelace instead manages to drop back and slam her to the mat. As they get up, Lovelace gives a flurry of kicks. She follows with a snap suplex and then waits to go for the spear. AJ gets up but sees Lovelace coming and side steps to send Lovelace shoulder first into the corner. As she comes out, AJ locks in the Black Widow and Lovelace is left with little choice but to tap out. She fights it and fights it, reaching for the ropes. Instead though she manages to her arm back enough and cradles AJ's head, dropping down into a Death Valley driver variant off her back. As they get up, Lovelace hits some more kicks and then sets up AJ for the Heidi Ho, a Tornado DDT transitioned into a snap suplex. Going up the ropes though, AJ blocks it and instead hits her in the midsection. With Lovelace seated up top, AJ gets to the second rope to go for a superplex, but Lovelace instead manages to block and lift AJ up and drop her to the mat. Lovelace then stands on the top rope and comes off the top with a frog splash on her prone opponent. The referee gets down and counts, picking up the fall and more importantly, the title as well.
Heidi Lovelace defeats NWA World Women's champion AJ Lee to capture the title @ 11:09 via pinfall after the frog splash.
The referee hands her the championship belt as Lovelace has done what once seemed impossible. AJ's 15 month reign comes to an end as Heidi Lovelace is the new World champion. The fans stand and applaud as she raises the belt up and tours the 4 corners of the ring with it. She heads outside after and shakes hands with ringside fans. The commentators speculate that this could be a bad omen for CM Punk, hopefully it is anyway. Cornette says this just shows that karma works in predictable ways as AJ's actions over the last month had consequences in the end. As AJ rolls out of the ring, there is a mild "thank you AJ" chant amidst retirement rumors on the internet should she have lost here, which she did.
Dog Collar match
VS | ||
Paredyse | Chris Silvio |
A heated and intense rivalry between 1 time tag team partners spotlights the next match. Paths crossed again at Rage In The Cage when Paredyse put Chris Silvio through a table in the King of The Valley ladder match, giving him a concussion and putting him on the shelf for 2 months. Upon returning, Silvio placed the blame on Paredyse to lead into a singles match at the February Saturday Night Special where Silvio faked post concussion symptoms to steal the win. Paredyse looked to bury the hatchet at the March Saturday Night Special with Silvio's wife Hannah Blossom coming out to try and talk sense into him. Valet Mary Jane took exception and in the ensuing melee, Silvio would accidentally punch his own wife in the face. The fallout put Silvio on the warpath, leading to a Dog Collar match that promises to spill blood.
The 2 are tied up and each is immediately looking for the advantage. A tug of war ensues over the dog collar chain, Silvio pulling Paredyse in and going for the Psychodelic Superpunch early, but Paredyse ducking. Silvio turns around after landing and Paredyse decks him. The right hands keep coming as Paredyse sends Silvio to the corner. He takes the chain slack and Irish whips Silvio across, pulling the chain before he hits the opposite corner to yank Silvio back to the mat. Mary Jane complains to the referee but all is legal. Paredyse gets down on 1 knee and just starts laying in. He then wraps his fist in chain, but Silvio rolls out to the floor. Paredyse tries to pull him back inbut Silvio is resistent. He begins slowly pulling the chain, dragging Silvio in under the bottom rope. Silvio starts to beg as Paredyse again wraps his fist in the chain, but a momentary distraction from Mary Jane gives Silvio the chance to poke the eyes. He then grabs the chain and starts to choke Paredyse with it, forcing him to his knees. The ref tries to step in, but Silvio just threatens him off.
Big turning point as Silvio points to the ropes, maybe looking to hang Paredyse. He grabs him and goes to throw him to the floor, but Paredyse instead lands on the apron. Silvio goes for a punch but Paredyse blocks it and hits back. Paredyse then grabs Silvio by the back of the head, dropping down to slingshot him off the top rope to his back. Paredyse gets up and heads up to the top rope. Again though, Mary Jane distracts and goes so far as to grab the ankle. This gives Silvio time as he gets to a knee and pulls the chain, causing Paredyse to fall crotch first onto the top rope. Silvio goes over and shakes it for added impact before Paredyse drops into the ring. More choking with the chain before Silvio gets up and jumps over the top rope to the apron. He then goes to the floor and starts pulling on the slack, slowly bring Paredyse to a choked position. Paredyse manages to turn and get his hands over, grabbing the chain himself. He starts pulling on it, but again Mary Jane's presence comes into play as she gets on the apron with a chair and smacks Paredyse's hands. This causes him to lose grip, allowing Silvio to pull from the floor and hang Paredyse with the top rope as the fulcrum.
From the back though comes Hannah Blossom! The woman in the center of the controversy, Silvio's wife, punched in the face by accident at the March Saturday Night Special. Or is it? She grabs Mary Jane and pulls her off the apron, slapping her. Silvio goes over and turns her, but she slaps Silvio! The commentators clarify that appears to be Holly Blossom, her twin sister, as she starts blaming Silvio for what happened. Paredyse meanwhile used the distraction to pull Silvio into the side of the ring. With him dazed, he goes up top and dives out to the floor onto Silvio. The fans cheer as he rolls him back into the ring. Paredyse wraps his hand again and goes for the shot, but Silvio ducks and hits the ropes. Paredyse turns into the Psychodelic Superpunch. He covers, but Paredyse manages to get a shoulder up just before the 3. Silvio is in disbelief, thinking the match was over. He stands and readies again as Paredyse gets to his knees. Silvio goes for the move again but Paredyse simultaneously jumps and instead catches him with a chain wrapped fist to the face.
Silvio is now bleeding! First blood on the show. Paredyse is slow to cover, only getting a 2 himself. Holly Blossom slaps the mat, getting the fans psyched up. Mary Jane appears to have something as she sneaks up on her. Holly turns and takes something to the eyes. She's blinded. Paredyse reaches over and grabs her, bringing her to the apron. She goes to spray him, but Paredyse ducks and she instead sprays the whatever into Silvio's eyes as he comes up behind his opponent. Mary Jane messes up big time as Silvio can't see. Paredyse takes advantage, locking Silvio in and driving him into the mat with his forward STO, The Long Kiss Goodnight. He covers, the referee goes down and counts 3. Paredyse takes the win!
Paredyse defeats Chris Silvio @ 15:20 via pinfall after The Long Kiss Goodnight.
The aftermath sees the dog collar unattached from the necks. Both Holly Blossom & Silvio get water for their eyes. Mary Jane is apologetic, but Silvio is not having any. He blames her for the loss, grabbing her. Paredyse comes to the aid though, turning Silvio and decking him with a right hand before a clothesline over the top rope. Paredyse turns to Mary Jane, but she kicks him low, dropping him to his knees. Holly now comes up to her and turns her, taking her down to the mat. CAT FIGHT! CAT FIGHT! The 2 roll around momentarily as the referee gets some assistance and the 2 are pulled apart. A win for Paredyse here to even the score with Silvio, but the commentators speculate we may not have seen the last of this rivalry, especially with the appearance from Silvio's sister in law to avenger her sister and Silvio's wife in what is becoming a family affair.
Panel discussion
Gilbert Corsey | Nick Dinsmore | Michael Titus | Christopher Daniels |
Gilbert Corsey is once again joined by the panel to discuss tonight's main event, champion Jamin Olivencia defending the title against CM Punk, and their thoughts on what to expect when that bell rings.
Nick Dinsmore: "Both men don't just want to win, they need to win. For Jamin, it's a chance to put his name among the elite of the NWA by doing what few have. For Punk though, it's all about backing up what he's said. If he can't, it's a major blow to his ego and maybe a sign that the UFC training has taken away from his wrestling and he can't do both. If he can, it could be the end of OVW."
Michael Titus: "There is no doubt in my mind that CM Punk is going to win tonight. He has had Jamin Olivencia's number since day 1! From the moment he gave him that Go To Sleep 6 months ago, it has been Punk's match to lose and what people don't realize is the match started long ago. The mental aspect, where Punk is king. Tonight, CM Punk wins, and it is the last time we will ever see the OVW Title as we know it. Haha, YESSSSS!"
Christopher Daniels: "It's no secret that I've been the fuel for CM Punk's fire, at least in his own mind. Forget me and him, this has long surpassed him not getting a 1 on 1 World Title shot at me over a year ago. It might be the cause, but it's no longer the effect. I just hope that if Punk wins, he thinks twice and realizes what his actions are capable of. He has shown CM Punk only cares about 1 person, CM Punk. And unfortunately as the match with Samoa Joe a week ago showed, few are better in this day."
Heavyweight championship match
VS | ||
Champion Jamin Olivencia | Challenger CM Punk |
While AJ Lee was unsuccessful earlier, it is doubtful that will have any impact on a pro like CM Punk. From the moment he returned to OVW and gave then new champion Jamin Olivencia the Go To Sleep at Rage In The Cage, everything has been building to this moment. Punk's actions have went from the necessary in a victory over The Pope Elijah Burke at Retribution to earn this chance, to the unnecessary with his destruction of the OVW Women's championship to show he means business. Punk has vowed that should he win, he will vacate the title and destroy the belt, doing to OVW what he feels was done to him by Christopher Daniels some 15 months ago. If successful, he has also made it clear that OVW is just the starting point. For Olivencia, this marks by far the most important match of his career. While a win puts him in the elite of the NWA, it is also necessary to preserve OVW's legacy.
Punk heads out first. Alone. A stark contrast to what he can expect in MMA, but in pro wrestling, Punk has always been at his best alone. Needing nobody, he gets the job done. Olivencia follows with the championship belt around his waist. He gets into the ring and takes it off, giving it a good look. The referee takes it and brings it over to Punk to show it to him as is customary before a match. Punk however grabs the belt away. Olivencia storms over as the ref holds him back. Punk looks at the belt and heads back over, holding it out for Olivencia. As the champ goes to grab it, Punk instead just drops it to the mat. Like a line in the sand, both men stand with an enraged Olivencia ready to go while Punk seems cool as a cucumber, only laughing. Is this a part of the mind games? The ref picks it up and holds the title up for the fans. Scarlett Bordeaux readies for the introductions as she is in the ring while both wrestlers head back to opposite corners.
Scarlett Bordeaux: The following contest is scheduled for 1 fall and it is for the OVW championship! Introducing first is the challenger. From Chicago, Illinois, weighing in at 218 pounds. He is CM Punk! His opponent is the reigning and defending OVW Heavyweight champion! From Buffalo, New York, weighing in at 216 pounds. Jamin Olivencia!
The fans cheer as the referee again brings both wrestlers to the middle of the ring to go over the rules. Olivencia is staring a hole through the challenger while Punk is cocky as ever, clearly knowing this is getting under the skin of the champion. They both back up and the bell rings, the match is underway!
Olivencia gets to the middle of the ring, calling Punk in for a lockup. Punk just leans on the ropes though. Olivencia grows tired and goes over, but Punk ducks between the ropes to get a rope break as the ref must step in. Punk is just playing mind games early, trying to throw Olivencia off his game and get him more and more upset. Punk goes to the middle of the ring for a lockup, but as Olivencia comes, he just leads him to the ropes, again killing time. This time Punk exits the ring to booing. Olivencia follows though unbeknownst to Punk who thinks the shift in cheering is for him. He turns and gets blasted with a right hand. Another and then Olivencia rolls him into the ring under the bottom rope. Olivencia slides in and as Punk gets up, hammers him again. Backed up into the ropes, Olivencia fires Punk across and catches him with a clothesline. Punk pops up as Olivencia locks in a snap suplex to bring him back to the mat. Punk goes to the corner where Olivencia goes after him, driving shoulders to the midsection before bringing him out. Punk however grabs the knee and lifts it up. With Olivencia on 1 leg, Punk goes in and takedown!
The MMA training quickly shows as Punk tries to secure guard on the mat. The commentators put over that with an MMA approach, Punk could be looking for a knockout to end this in seconds rather than minutes. The faster, the better. Olivencia is able to blocks as Punk looks to transition. He manages to get his feet under and flip Punk into him and down into a sunset flip that gets a 2. Punk rolls forward to kick out and to his feet, kicking Olivencia in the chest. A second and third kick follow, before Punk hits the ropes and comes back for a Shining Wizard. Olivencia moves as Punk lands. Punk turns as Olivencia gets in for a Fireman's Carry, but Punk elbows in the face to get free. Dropping to his feet, he lifts Olivencia into the Fireman's Carry. He lifts Olivencia up to drop him for the Go To Sleep, but the champion lands on his feet. Olivencia goes for a clothesline, but Punk ducks and catches him from behind with a quick hangman's neckbreaker. Punk goes for a cover, but only gets a 1. Maybe a mistake to kick out so early as the low count only seems to upset him.
On the mat, Punk takes the guard again. He goes for several elbow strikes, but Olivencia gets his arms up to block. The champion does make a crucial mistake though as he turns to his side. Punk takes it as he tries to lock in a rear naked choke. Olivencia blocks that but gives way to a readjustment where Punk locks in the Anaconda Vise! Olivencia could be in trouble, but the rolling leaves them by the ropes as the champ reaches out and gets a break almost instantly. Punk gets off as Olivencia gets to a knee. Punk is aggressive though as he steps in with a soccerball kick to the ribs. A roundhouse kick to the face follows that plants the champ face first into the mat. Punk wastes no time, reaching down and picking him up for double underhook. Punk lifts Olivencia up, dropping him onto the knee. Punk covers, grabbing a 2 this time as Olivencia looks to be in trouble. Punk kicks Olivencia over to the side of the ring, then pushing him out to the floor. The fans boo as Punk gestures to them while waiting for Olivencia to get up.
On the floor, Olivencia stands as Punk comes charging at him with a suicide dive. Olivencia moves! Punk goes into the barricade as the champ shows some life. Olivencia goes to the apron as Punk gets up, running the apron and coming off with a knee to the face. Olivencia could maybe steal a countout win here, but that's not what this is about. He rolls Punk back in and follows. Olivencia hooks Punk up and gives a vertical suplex. He heads to the top rope, waiting for Punk to get up, diving off with a missile dropkick. Olivencia covers, scoring a 2 before Punk kicks out. Picking Punk up, Olivencia gives a chop. A second follows. A third. Punk answers back with a chop, but it barely has any impact. Olivencia shoves Punk back into the ropes, Punk bouncing back into a forearm strike to Olivencia. Punk takes advantage of the change in momentum as goes for a German Suplex. Olivencia however reverses it. From behind he runs Punk into the ropes with a go behind into a rollup. At the 2, Punk kicks out. Olivencia goes into the ropes. As Punk gets up, he charges, but Punk ducks. He turns around to a leaping Olivencia twisting mid jump into a clothesline.
He picks Punk up and brings him to the corner, placing him on top in preparation for a superplex. Punk starts to fight back. Punk steps up and locks in the double underhook. What's this? He lifts Olivencia up as he goes off the top rope. Pepsi Plunge! From the top rope! The move leaves Olivencia laying, but Punk is worn out. He moves into a cover, barely hooking the leg ...

Olivencia is able to kick out. Punk has however turned the tide with that move. He gets up and takes some time to recuperate. Olivencia is in the corner getting up, but Punk charges in with a step up high knee. He turns and follows that with a running bulldog. Punk steps outside to the apron with Olivencia down, slingshotting himself into a somersault senton. He covers again, drawing a 2 count before Olivencia kicks out. More kicks follows before he brings Olivencia to his feet. Punk then hits a sitout suplex slam, hooking the leg into another cover, but only getting a 2 before the kickout. Punk grabs Olivencia and brings him to the corner, slapping the chest with a chop. He then seats him up top. Punk steps up as he preps for the super frankensteiner. Olivencia hangs on though and Punk instead flips back to the mat. Olivencia steps up and from the top rope, leaps off with a 180 degree turning splash! Olivencia covers ...

He then steps out to the apron as Olivencia leans on the ropes, rearing the head back and pounding a forearm into the chest. Olivencia steps forward and turns into Punk jumping up into a springboard clothesline from the top rope. Olivencia gets up as Punk hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. With Olivencia down, Punk signals the match is over. He picks Olivencia up and goes to lift him up for the GTS again, but Olivencia lands some elbows to prevent it. Punk steps back and turns back to Olivencia, leaping up and taking Olivencia over with a hurricanrana. Punk steps up as Olivencia gets to a knee, stepping in and hitting the Shining Wizard. The first time failed, but he gets alll of this and covers, but only gets a 2 before the kickout.
Punk brings Olivencia up and DDTs him to the mat. He then drags him into position and steps out, climbing up to the top rope. Olivencia is down, Punk raises the arms in tribute to the late Macho Man Randy Savage. He leaps off and catches Olivencia with a diving elbow drop. Punk covers, this could be it!

Olivencia just gets the shoulder up but is in serious trouble. Punk argues the count, feeling it was a 3, and having all the time in the world to waste here. He goes back to Olivencia, but gets a surprise right to the midsection. He reaches down again and takes another. Hunched over, Olivencia drills a right and gets to his feet. This could be the comeback. He hits the ropes and comes back with a shoulderblock. Punk goes down as Olivencia hits the ropes, first jumping over and then coming back into a leapfrog attempt. Punk wins! OVW is history!!! NO! Olivencia just gets a shoulder up and now it's Punk in disbelief. The Go To Sleep is not enough. Will anything be enough? Both men need this win and will not go down. Punk turns to a charging Olivencia driving a knee into the chest. Punk gets backed up to the corner as Olivencia gets up. Punk wins! Olivencia is down and out after that and there is no doubt about it here. Punk has done it! While Jim Cornette & Dean Hill hate to give credit, there was nothing fishy here, nothing can be taken away from the man. He went in here, and he has defeated Jamin Olivencia and is the new OVW Heavyweight champion! The music plays as Punk gets to his knees. The referee hands him the title as Scarlett Bordeaux makes the announcement to make it official. CM Punk is the new OVW Heavyweight champion. It starts to sink in, the wonderment of what this means? What does it mean for OVW? Punk vowed that should he win here, that was it. Now he's done it, but maybe, possibly, a change of heart after the epic encounter these 2 just had. Surely he can't turn around and slap Olivencia in the face after the competition he just gave him? Cornette says he could, he can, and he has done just that many times before. What is next in this saga?
CM Punk defeats Heavyweight champion Jamin Olivencia to capture the title @ 24:51 via pinfall after the Go To Sleep.
Olivencia is still out as Punk manages to stand, raising the title up in the air. He then looks at it, perhaps having forgotten his entire M.O. for a minute and remembering what he planned to do should he win. Olivencia stirs and rolls to his stomach by the ropes where the referee checks on him. Olivencia goes outside as the ref helps him, a look of disappointment on his face having failed in what may go down as a turning point for OVW. Possibly even the death of OVW. Punk requests a mic.
CM Punk: Hold on here, hold on. Ladies and gentlemen, Jamin Olivencia! Let's give him a hand! You just gave me a hell of a match kid. I know it and these people know it. Tonight you took that next step. All the talk coming in was about this and that, but how you could become an elite player in the NWA. And you know what? I think after tonight we all know that Jamin Olivencia ... you're not elite. You're not in my league. Go home! You failed! And because of you, everybody in that locker room can have somebody to blame for when this place goes out of business. That's right. I said I'd do what I set out to do and I did it. If I won this title, it was vacant. It was history! It was the end. And now I've done it, so without any further ado ...
And just then the music of Christopher Daniels plays! From the back comes the retired former World champion. He has been cautious with this situation, having avoided directly addressing it so far, but he now might be left with no alternative. He takes a mic and gets in the ring as Olivencia continues on his way to the back.
Christopher Daniels: Hold on Punk! Hold on! Don't do this!
CM Punk: Why? You think you're better than me or something? So you can do it but I can't?
Christopher Daniels: Hold on. This isn't right. Somewhere in there, you have to know that what you're about to do is wrong.
CM Punk: About to do? Way I see it, I've already done it.
Christopher Daniels: I've sat idly by and listened to you for months now. All this, it has nothing to do with us. It has nothing to do with what happened between you and me 15 months ago. Don't do it!
CM Punk: Ok.
Christopher Daniels: Ok?
CM Punk: Yeah, ok. You want me to keep this? Sure. I won't vacate it. I won't do what you did and avoid competition. I won't take the ball and go home, damaging the legacy of the championship like you did.
Christopher Daniels: Alright, whatever. Just don't do it.
CM Punk: I won't vacate it under 1 condition. Yeah. That's right, it's not that easy. I want 2 things actually. First thing I want Daniels is for you to admit that I'm the best wrestler on the planet today. I'm as the title goes, the best in the world. Admit it right now. That's why you retired instead of facing me. That's why you took your ball and went home. I'm better than Samoa Joe. I'm better than AJ Styles. All your little running buddies. Above all else, I'm better than you. Not only now, but better than you ever were.
Christopher Daniels: Fine.
CM Punk: I'm sorry, what? Fine, what?
Christopher Daniels: Fine. You're the best. If that's what you want to hear, there it is?
CM Punk: That is what I want to hear. Ladies and gentlemen, there you have it. Christopher Daniels! Admitting I'm the best! The coward. You know what, just say it. I wanna hear you say it right now. Say that you're a coward and admit it.
Christopher Daniels: No.
CM Punk: Admit it or I vacate this belt right now.
... STOP THIS!
A voice emerges over the P.A. as from the back comes Danny Davis. He has seen and heard enough as he heads out and gets in the ring.
Danny Davis: If you wanna vacate that belt, just do it! I will not stand by and let you try and run down a legend like this though. Do what you're going to do, get out of here!
CM Punk: I said I wanted 2 things. Patience old man. I wanted Daniels to admit I'm the best, he did. A little pathetic in my opinion, but what's done is done. I don't want you to admit it Danny because you certainly know it given I have this belt right now. But what I also want is a match. Not just any match. If I'm to keep this belt, I want you Daniels to come out of retirement and face me 1 on 1. Quit being a coward and fight me like a man! Show all these people what I've said is the truth. I want it to become reality and I want to beat you in this ring. You beat me, you get the title. I beat you, then I vacate it. I'm giving you an out right now. Are you man enough to take it? Are you man enough to save this company for this man here?
Davis tells Daniels he doesn't have to do this. Daniels looks at him, then back to Punk.
Christopher Daniels: I'm sorry Danny. My answer is no. When I retired, I meant it.
CM Punk: Hmmmm. That's too bad. That's really too bad. See that Danny? A coward. This man had the chance to save your company and he chose to do nothing. Pathetic. You know what though? I'm fair. Shake my hand right now. Shake it and I will consider not surrendering it. I will consider giving Jamin "The Loser" Olivencia a rematch.
Davis again tells Daniels he doesn't have to do this. Daniels though puts ego aside and looking at the extended hand, he reaches out. The hands lock, but Punk quickly pulls Daniels in and lifts him up onto his shoulders. He drops him face first into the knee. Go to Sleep! Daniels is down as Punk laughs. He turns his attention to Davis, but the fans cheer as from the back comes a referee with Elijah Burke! Punk corners Davis as Burke slides in under the bottom rope with his King of The Valley briefcase with the guaranteed title shot whenever he chooses. Punk turns and gets decked with the case! The referee takes it and the match is official!

Elijah Burke defeats Heavyweight champion CM Punk to capture the title @ 4:36 via pinfall after the Elijah Experience.
The wrestlers get in the ring. Conway, Dinsmore, Hayes, Howe join. Several other wrestlers come out. Cliff Compton, Paredyse, Eddie Diamond, Bud Dwight, Rump Thump, as well as the new World Women's champion Heidi Lovelace. Cornette says to heck with it, he's going to go join them! Cornette gets in as Dean puts over what an incredible night this is for Ohio Valley! The threat of CM Punk coming so close, but in the end Elijah Burke gets redemption and revenge. And you can be sure if Jamin Olivencia were up to it, he'd be right out here. Shades of Wrestlemania X as not everybody is pleased with this.
In the aisle stands a pissed off Rudy Switchblade. He pinned Burke earlier in the night to win Survival of The Fittest, he was owed a rematch for that title, and here he is standing as the proverbial runner up despite on paper being better than the man standing with the title. Dean says he will have his chance, you can bet on that! Burke will be a fighting champion! But at the same time, Jamin Olivencia is now a former champion and owed a rematch. Heck, CM Punk is now a former champion and owed a rematch! Switchblade can only shake his head and mouth "that should be me". Wrestlers hoist Burke onto their shoulders as he raises the title above his head. Dean proclaims him the savior of OVW! The era of The Pope has began here tonight at Best In The World!
