NWA Windy City Pro Wrestling drew another capacity crowd in the Logan Square Auditorium, which brought a very atmospheric and intimate feel to the show given the nature of the venue. This was the last show before Uncensored, an NWA sanctioned Pay-Per-View hosted by Windy City Pro Wrestling, and as such this go home show was at fevre pitch. Tonight's show was a special Wednesday Night Live presentation of their usual Saturday Night Live show.
Web Exclusive Pre-Show Match
Uhaa Nation w/Sean Waltman beat Aiden English with the Uhaa Combination (Gorilla press drop followed by a standing moonsault followed by a standing shooting star press) in 2:08 and continues his unbeaten streak in Chicago that has now lasted months since his debut. With Waltman now by his side, he is set to be a force and a real strong challenger for both Daniel Bryan's NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship and Adrian Neville's NWA Windy City ZG Championship.
Saturday Night Live!
Show starts with an incensed Triple H sat in his office flanked by Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. Triple H was embarrassingly pinned by Rockstar Spud on Saturday in tag team action, a man not even currently on the main roster! Hunter says that Daniel Puder may be a former Heavyweight Champion in these parts but he defied his command to stay at his judges booth on SNL and got involved in the match tripping up Hunter and causing the loss. Triple H say's he's the boss and he won't be disrespected like this. Tonight Puder has been banned from the arena, security are watching the doors, he won't be here tonight and Rockstar Spud and Hideo Itami will be all on their lonesome. As such, because he's in charge, he will give Spud and Hideo a challenge tonight with a 3 on 2 handicap match; Triple H, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose against Rockstar Spud & Hideo Itami! Obviously Hunter is setting the odds in his favor and punishing Spud & Itami for Saturday's embarrassment.
Trip's say's that's not his only matter of business though. On Saturday, Samoa Joe and Jay Lethal got into a battle after the big 4-corners 3-man team battle main-event. Both men are in the main-event of Uncensored in the fatal four way, but tonight they will meet one-one-one in the main-event! Also Chris Masters and The Usos might have won on saturday but AJ Styles escaped Masters attempt at a Masterlock. Tonight AJ Styles will face a Masterlock challenge!
John Cena, the NWA North American Champion came out to kick off the show with a mike in hand to a chorus of boo's. Cena starts with a reference to Rudy Switchblade from Ohio Valley Wrestling. Cena say's that Switchblade and OVW where apparently bad mouthing him for not answering their calls, as they wanted to book him in the Davis Arena. Cena says it's bad enough that he's working these flea pits in Chicago in-front of these such unappreciative crowds, so why would he seriously travel to of all places Kentucky for a non-wrestling appearance when he has Uncensored just around the corner! Cena say's the appearance did not interest him in the slightest and it looks like Switchblade got his lights Switchedoff by his mate big Dave anyway haha!
The North American Champ turns his attentions to Brian Cage. Cena said he had his say last week, and on Saturday Cage had his say. Tonight's the time for words is over, and the time for action is now! Cena say's he's a true American patriot and hero and he's been on-top for a long time, even if not in the NWA in other places on the big show. As such he's seen it all. He's seen flash in the pans come and go, and he believes that Brian Cage is just another flash in the pan who will be nowhere once he defeats him and defends his title at Uncensored. That being said, he will give Cage a chance to show his worth. Tonight Brian Cage has been booked to take on Sin Cara of the Mexican team the Lucha Dragons, and he will be at ringside to watch and this is next.
Brian Cage beat Sin Cara with Weapon X in 4:02 in an impressive outing from the challenger for the NWA North American Heavyweight Title; John Cena who was watching the match at ringside with his belt over his shoulder did not interfere or anything in the match. Once it was over he got into the ring and went nose to nose with Cage who did not back down. Cena raised his title above his head to show who the champion is and then pushed Cage a little in the face with the title which ruffled his feathers. Cena dropped the title in the middle of them, and soon both men where trading punches. Cena and Cage battled back and forth for a minute before Cena attempted an FU which Cage slipped out of. Cage reversed into a Weapon X set-up attempt but Cena just about squirms out of it and bails from the ring. Cena motions that was close but points to his head, as if saying his experience will count the most at Uncensored.
Gail Kim pinned Cheerleader Melissa with the Eat Defeat in a four-way that involved Womens Champion Paige and challenger at Uncensored "Kharma" Kia Stevens in 07:25; After the fall which came out of nowhere while Paige and Kharma where battling, Kharma managed to hit her Implant Buster on Paige and stood tall over the women's champion while Gail Kim no longer it seems aligned with Paige left the ring offering no help. At Uncensored Paige it seems will now have to face the monster Kharma all on her own.
Luke Harper w/The Briscoes blasted Alex Riley w/Marsye & The Miz with a viscous Discus Clothesline to pick up an impressive win in 03:33; Serena Deeb who was kidnapped by Harper and Mark Briscoe 2 weeks ago was not here tonight and presumed under lock-and-key in some red-neck hell-hole down a wrong-turn someplace; With all The Family down at ringside, Sami Zayn came out to the entrance way but did not go any further. He motioned to Luke Harper that he would be seeing him at uncensored.
Kota Ibushi pinned Sheamus w/Fin Balor with a Golden Star Press 2007 (Springboard corkscrew 450° splash) in 9:48 to shock Sheamus just before the time-limit was due to be reached to pick up the victory. Sheamus was so sure he would do alot better than Fin Balor did against Ibushi, with Balor now 1-1 with Ibushi and set for the rubber match at Uncensored. Balor gave Sheamus a look as if "I told you so", this Ibushi is the real deal and I'm looking forward to a great match between Ibushi and Balor at Uncensored!
The Wolves, Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards downed the NWA World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks, The Windy City Tag Team Champions The Usos & their opponents at Uncensored in the #1 contenders tag tourney final The Briscoes w/Luke Harper in a non-title four corners match when Sami Zayn attacked Mark Briscoe and Davey Richards seized on the opportunity to score the fall with a quick cover; The Usos and The Young Bucks squared off after the match and went at it brawling to the back Nick Jackson hit Jimmy Uso with a superkick but Jey got the better of Matt sending him down with a Samoan Spike before they was separated.
Chris Masters and AJ Styles took part in a Masterlock Challenge as ordered by Triple H earlier in the evening. Styles allowed Masters to apply the hold and was dragged around like a rag-doll by Masters but Styles would not give in despite going blue in the face. Eventually Styles energy was drained and it seemed all was over. It wasn't though as Styles had another spurt of energy, perhaps a last ditch burst and crashed Masters back into the turnbuckle several times to try and break the hold. The hold was partially broke and Masters tried swinging a punch to try and get it fully back on but Styles ducked under and reversed the Masterlock putting it on Chris Masters! Masters struggled but eventually reversed it himself, Styles went for a Pele kick but Masters avoided it and managed to snatch the Masterlock back on! Styles fought it again but was too weak and was taken down. Eventually Styles faded and was out. AJ Styles had failed The Masterlock challenge; Masters let go and just gave a look like this is what Styles can expect some more of come Uncensored!
Next it was time for the KO Challenge between #1 Contender Kofi Kingston and the Heavyweight Champion Kevin Steen. First up as the challenger was Kofi. Kofi Kingston defeated in swift fashion Ashton Vuitton demonstrating a style more resembling the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira. Using feints, pokes and clinical strikes. Kofi KO'd Vuitton with a direct kick to the head and took the win in 3:45.
Kevin Steen was up next and didn't mess about dispatching Robbie E, finishing him by powerbombing the New Jersey fist-pumper on the ring apron in just 1:28 to win the match and the KO challenge against Kofi Kingston. Kofi went to walk away disgusted, but Steen hadn't finished and back in the ring attempted a running cannonball to the outside just like he had at Fight Night, but the same result he took a high risk and missed as Kofi side-steps with his good reflexes. Kofi stands over the fallen Steen and shakes his head, sending the message that if Steen panders to the fans at uncensored, he risks crashing and burning once more, but this time losing his Heavyweight Title.
Triple H, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose easily defeated Rockstar Spud & Hideo Itami in handicap tag team action. The trio made regular tags and soon wore down their spirited opponents who badly missed their experienced mentor Daniel Puder. Triple H got the pinfall with a pedigree over Rockstar Spud in 6:12. Dean Ambrose hit the Dirty Deeds on Itami, and Seth Rollins hit both men with Curb stomps after the match to really hammer home the total domination seen here tonight.
"The Legendary" Heath Slater downed Cesaro in 0:38 with a quick school boy roll-up, to claim a very quick victory. Curtis Axel who scored an impressive victory in a long match over Ziggler at SNL was watching backstage as Slater poked cesaro in the eye after a ref distraction and scored the quick win. Slater has told Axel he's not paid by the hour and doesn't see the no-time-limit stipulation (after their two recent 10 minute outings) at Uncensored being a factor! Axel just says that was good, but not perfect.
Samoa Joe and Jay Lethal (no 3lite tonight) went to the time-limit in 10:00 in a tremendous match in the main-event, this match was declared a majority draw with 2 judges going for the draw and 1 for Lethal. Joe was pissed at the decision as was Lethal but before they could go at each other again, they where joined by Chris Masters who attacked both men. Soon AJ Styles who was holding his neck in serious pain after the Masterlock challenge earlier came rushing out to a great ovation! All four men battled each other and with things even, the show finishes at this climax, as the show has over-run already.
Web Exclusive Post-Show Match;
Tyler Breeze beat Adam Cole in 8:25; Cole was winning this one but lights flicker and go out again. Crowe has hacked Windy City again! The lights come back on and Adam Cole is out for the count and Breeze is ontop of him but out cold too. The ref counts the pin for Breeze. Solomon Crowe certainly let his presence be known tonight!
