NWA Maximum Presents: Maximum Destruction Part 4
Bad News Barrett is here to begin our show, as he has a match with Amazing Red.
Barrett: "Amazing Red, you may be a talented high flyer, but I'm afraid I have some BAD NEWS for you. As a matter of fact, it is direct from the Commissioner of Asskicking himself Steve Blackman. He has not been impressed with your win/loss record in NWA Maximum, so if you can't beat me here tonight, you will be fired!"
Not good news for Red, he needs a win badly tonight or his NWA Maximum career will be over.
Bad News Barrett vs Amazing Red
There was a great sense of desperation from Red in this encounter, he gave this his all and took the fight to Barrett, but he was up against it thanks to the size difference between the two. Barrett slowly broke Red's resistance with punches and some big power moves, then would hit the Bull Hammer to get 3 and end Red's NWA Maximum career, for now at least.
Winner- Bad News Barrett
We cut to a trailer park where we see Ted Dibiase. To pay off his debts he had to sell off all of his possessions and his luxury apartment, leaving him poor and no different to any average man. Despite this, Dibiase looks quite content with his new setup, perhaps having his trust fund cut off was the fresh start he needed to gain a new focus in his career, as we will see him back here next week. Yes next week at the last Maximum Destruction show, we will see the debut of "The Everyman" Ted Dibiase!
The Family (Bray Wyatt and Paul London) vs Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo)
This is The Family's first match as a team, as Wyatt and London look to get a win to send a message to the two men who will contest our main event tonight, Johnny Gargano and Kyle Matthews. Los Maximos gave them a fight, as they are former NWA Maximum Tag Team Champions and a match for anyone, but Wyatt is a formidable force and London looks focused under the guidance of Wyatt. And Wyatt would end up putting Jose away with Sister Abigail.
Winners- The Family
"Cowboy" James Storm vs "The Man Beast" Rhino
Both of these men are looking to get back into the title picture after recent defeats, with Rhino losing the Heavyweight Title and coming up short in a TV Title match, and Storm missing out on the TV Title in a great match with Randy Orton. It was a wild brawl as Rhino used his raw power and Storm his fists, with weapons also getting involved as they exchanged stiff chair shots. Rhino ended up setting up Storm for a Gore, but Storm managed to find his beer bottle. Rhino charges and Storm SMASHES Rhino with that beer bottle. He then locks Rhino in the Sharpshooter, which forces Rhino to tap out.
Winner- James Storm
Post match Storm takes the mic.
Storm: "So with this win, I bet you all expect me to take another shot at Randy Orton. Well you know what, there's another champion who I think I've got a shot at beating, and that man is Karl Anderson. Next week Karl I'd love a match with you for that belt, after all the Heavyweight Title is the most sought after title no matter where you are, and that belt will belong to "The Cowboy.""
The match between Storm and Anderson should prove to be a great contest, I can't wait to see it next week at the last Maximum Destruction show!
Before our next match, EGO have something to say in the ring.
Sandow: "Unwashed masses, your three saviours are here once again. We for one won't stand for uneducated monkeys like BEYOND trying to destroy the NWA Maximum that you all love. Well EGO won't let that happen, the "Enigma" of Bobby Roode, my "Genius" and the overall "Outstanding" Cody Rhodes, we will....
Chris Dickinson and the rest of BEYOND decide to interrupt.
Dickinson: "SHUT THE FUCK UP! Don't you get it, these people don't want to see you and your sports entertainment bullshit in this company. The NWA Maximum these people love invokes the extremes of the wrestling of the past with the talent of the future, not the gimmicky crap of the present. The sooner we destroy you assholes and take those belts for ourselves, the sooner you can get the hell out of New Jersey!"
The fans couldn't be more on the side of BEYOND, who charge for the ring with baseball bats in hand as the match get underway.
Non-Title Match
EGO (Damien Sandow, Bobby Roode and Cody Rhodes) vs BEYOND (Chris Dickinson, Biff Busick and Drew Gulak)
All I can say is wow, going in you wouldn't expect this to be anything other than a great back and forth, but what we saw was an utter annihilation, the sort of one sided destruction that does invoke memories of some of the most extreme matches of the past. BEYOND just destroyed EGO here, a beatdown the likes of which I haven't seen in a long time. They smashed EGO with the baseball bats over and over to begin this, then got a table. Busick and Gulak grabbed Rhodes, lifting him up and putting him through the table with a Double Powerbomb! Dickinson grabs some tape and ties Sandow to the ropes, proceeding to beat the hell out of him with a kendo stick, as Busick grabs a bag of thumbtacks and spills them out over the canvas. They lift up Roode, Busick grabs him in position for the Half and Half as Gulak charges the ropes and hits Roode with a Clothesline into the Half and Half ONTO THE TACKS! With all three members of EGO completely destroyed, the referee declares them knocked out and awards the match to BEYOND, wow!
Winners- BEYOND
This will almost certainly give BEYOND a shot at EGO's tag team title belts, but EGO need to get back to the drawing board and fast, or those belts are almost definitely going to belong to BEYOND.
The ladder match between Shane Helms and The Reject is next up, but before the match we cut backstage to see CHRIS JERICHO HAS BEEN LAID OUT! Officials are attending to Jericho as I think we all know who was behind the attack: The Fallen. I bet this was to ensure Jericho can't save Helms if Demons decides to get involved in the match. The odds may just have been stacked against Helms winning this matchup.
Ladder Match
Shane Helms vs The Reject
Helms is fuming at the attack on Jericho, but there's not a lot he can do right now, he has to concentrate on his match with The Reject. And it was a good matchup between the two to settle their mini-rivalry, The Reject took a lot of risks and made full use of the ladder, going after Helms with efficiency and showing the growth he has made under the leadership of Personal Demons. Helms on the other hand played this more cautiously, taking advantage of any slipups in The Reject's risk taking strategy and trying to ground him with shots from the ladder. The Reject ended up getting close to the prize at the top of the ladder (a briefcase containing $10000), but Helms got up and shoved the ladder over, causing The Reject TO FALL OVER THE ROPES THROUGH A TABLE! Helms now has a clear shot at winning the match, but before he can climb the ladder, Personal Demons runs out and attacks him from behind. He begins smacking Helms with a chair in the same vicious fashion he did to his brother and to Chris Jericho in the past, but then the light go out
The lights come back on and Demons is looking around to see if the man we all know is behind these messages is to be seen, as the fans chant "We want Matt". This allows Helms time to recover, grabbing the chair and smashing Hardy with it. He lifts him up, VERTEBREAKER ON THE CHAIR! The Reject is still out as Helms climbs the ladder and grabs the briefcase to win the match and settle the score with his former tag team partner.
Winner- Shane Helms
So Helms gets a crucial win, but there are still no doubt questions over how unbiased he can be this Sunday, especially after an attack from Personal Demons on his friend Chris Jericho and almost costing him this match. However on Sunday I feel there will be some other outside forces at work, so the career of Chris Jericho may not be over quite yet.
Main Event, To Settle the Score
"The Most Hybrid Athlete in NWA History" Kyle Matthews vs Johnny Gargano
This is it, the match that is going to once and for all decide who the better man is out of these two bitter rivals. It all started in NWA Hybrid Pro, as Matthews' rise to the top was almost interlinked with Gargano's own rise, with Gargano winning the Junior Heavyweight Title a short while before Matthews won the World Heavyweight Title. Their rivalry continued during the Prophecy versus Group feud before they ended up in different promotions in the NWA, before crossing path again here in NWA Maximum. Now they will settle the score.
Matthews is for the first time since he joined NWA Maximum carrying his signature steel chair, the one he used on so many people as part of The Prophecy. The match begins with a long staredown, before the two finally lock up. They exchange a series of holds and counter holds, with neither man really getting an advantage one way or another. Matthews makes a brief slip up when locking in a hammerlock however and Gargano takes advantage, taking Matthews to the mat and working the neck for a bit, trying to weaken him for the Hurts Donut.
The pace of the match picked up as Matthews threw Gargano into the ropes, only for Gargano to avoid a few strike attempts from Matthews and eating a Dropkick that takes him out of the ring. The two battle outside the ring, but these two clearly aren't looking to use weapons, they both have a big enough ego to want to win this with skill alone. Gargano looks for a Spear but misses, and Matthews takes Gargano down with an Armbreaker, as he goes to work on the arm of Gargano, weakening it for his signature Hidaka Lock. The arm work was flawlessly executed and Gargano began to struggle to stay in this one. Gargano looked like he would mount a brief fightback with some punches and kicks, but Matthews answered with the Hidaka Lock! Gargano is in a lot of trouble, but somehow managed to make the ropes and escape the hold. Matthews lifts up Gargano, BUT OUT NOWHERE GARGANO HITS THE HURTS DONUT! But he's too hurt to go for the cover straight away, it takes him nearly 15 seconds to go for it, 1-2-NO!
The two climb to their feet as Gargano's fightback is in full swing, he takes the fight to the dazed Matthews with an Enziguri, a double Knee Strike in the corner and then a Slingshot DDT which got him another near fall. Gargano calls for another Hurts Donut, but this time Matthews reverses and throws Gargano into the corner. SLURPEE KICK! 1-2-NO, Gargano escapes! HIDAKA LOCK! Gargano is screaming with pain and I don't think he's getting out of this one. The hold is fully locked as Gargano desperately crawls towards the rope, looking on the brink of tapping out at any moment. HE MAKES IT! Matthews looks frustrated, and heads outside the ring, grabbing the steel chair with the same crazed look he's often had on his face in the past, as it looks like he might be giving in to the demons that made him "The Antichrist of Professional Wrestling". He goes to hit Gargano with the chair as for the first time in NWA Maximum, the fans beg for a weapon not to be used, as Matthews has second thoughts. As Gargano begins to struggle to his feet, part of Matthews is ready to hit him. BUT HE THROWS THE CHAIR AWAY! The fans explode and Matthews decides they will settle this with skill. Matthews grabs Gargano and throws him to the corner, then goes for the Slurpee Kick. But Gargano avoids it, HURTS DONUT! 1-2-3, GARGANO WINS!
Winner- Johnny Gargano
Post match the fans give the two a standing ovation, but before Gargano can celebrate, The Family of Bray Wyatt and Paul London run down to the ring and attack him, but largely ignoring Kyle Matthews who is still recovering in the corner. Matthews gets up and grabs the chair he was going to use on Gargano AND SMASHES WYATT WITH IT! The fans explode as Matthews throws chairshots to London and Wyatt to take them both down, as Gargano recovers. Gargano and Matthews then start teaming up to the delight of the fans, taking Wyatt down with a Double Dropkick, them Matthews holds Wyatt in place for an Enziguri from Gargano. Wyatt rolls outside as they grab London and whip him into the corner, as Matthews hits a Slurpee Kick, then Gargano charges, grabs London and drops him with the Hurts Donut!
The Family have been one upped as it looks like Matthews and Gargano have finally put their differences aside and formed the most unlikely of tag teams. They have another staredown and Gargano once again offers a handshake to Matthews, and he tentatively accepts to a huge cheer from the fans! The show ends with Matthews and Gargano celebrating the forming of their unlikely alliance, and now The Family have real problems on their hands!
