Pro-Wrestling ELITE
Orlando, Florida
The show begins with a little introduction from the ring announcer, letting the fans here in Orlando know the score for the night. Tonight, there will be eight matches. The winner of these matches will go on to the next show and face each other in four more matches. The winner of those four matches will go onto the show after that and do battle in a four-way ladder match to crown the first ever ELITE Champion. Without any further delay, we get to the action!
Amazing Red (2002) vs. Samuray del Sol (2013)
This match was as fast paced as you might expect, with an early tie up and arm drag sequence leading to a counter by Del Sol and ultimately a sequence leading to the outside. Both men would perform impressive dives to the outside throughout the match, and the crowd was very split as they just tried to enjoy the athleticism of the contest. The match would eventually come to an end as Red made a miscalculation, heading up top and looking for the Infra Red, only to have it reversed with an Inverted Frankensteiner, followed by a Samuray Kick to the kneeling, clearly already groggy Red, to knock him completely senseless for the three count. The match was good for what it was to get the crowd going, and you can tell del Sol is going to be a handful for anybody going into the next round.
Before the next match, Spanky makes his way out to the ring with a microphone. He says it's great to be back here in Orlando, and it's going to be even better to be the champion here in Pro-Wrestling ELITE! This leads his opponent Johnny Gargano out, laughing sarcastically. Gargano says he's been waiting for this moment for a long time, scraping and clawing his way up the ranks of the independent circuit just for this one moment, a moment to shine and show that he is one of the best in wrestling today! Spanky says he's been fighting all over the world, and trained with the best around, and says he's beaten much better men, men who worked much harder than Gargano, and tonight, he's going to do the same when he pins Johnny Gargano's shoulders down for the three! Johnny says Spanky has been riding the coattails of his trainer and all of his other Texas Wrestling Academy buddies for too long, and tonight, Johnny Gargano shows everyone what he's really made of as Johnny Gargano advances to the semi-finals of the ELITE Championship tournament!
Spanky (2002) vs. Johnny Gargano (2014)
This was a heated match that went to the mat right away, as both of these men clearly had something to prove from their comments before the match. It was clear neither man liked each other, and the fans seemed to side more with Spanky here, as Gargano was clearly more aggressive and was trying to bend the rules to get one over on his very talented and highly reputed opponent. Gargano would score some big moves, such as his Lawn Dart and a Slingshot Spear to take Spanky down for near falls, but Spanky showed the heart he's known for, kicking out of both and continuing on in the match with fighting spirit. The match would eventually end in a flash of a finish, with Gargano attempting the Hurts Donut, only to have it reversed into a roll-up by Spanky, who managed to hang on long enough to get the three count! Spanky bolts from the ring, celebrating, as Gargano slams his fists into the mat, looking like he may be thinking this isn't over yet.
Billy Kidman (2001) vs. Trent Barreta (2015)
Barreta showed a lot of attitude and no respect for his well renowned opponent tonight, but Kidman didn't seem to care. The fans were thoroughly behind Kidman, chanting for him as Barreta would try to ground him and choke him on the ropes. Barreta would gain a lot of heat showboating and disrespecting Kidman, but Kidman would manage to turn the tides with a BK Bomb for a two count! Barreta would find himself on the ropes from there, taking damage from a number of big moves from Kidman, but managed to catch Kidman coming in the corner with a boot and delivered a Swinging DDT for a two count of his own. Barreta would call for the end and would attempt his Gobstopper, only to Kidman duck itand catch him with a Swinging Bulldog off the buckles. Kidman would call for the finish and the fans were on their feet as he hit the top and came off with his Shooting Star Press, crushing Barreta and keeping him down for the three count! Kidman advances and showed a lot of poise in doing so.
Next out we have “Primetime” Elix Skipper, who goes on a tirade about how he's the best pound for pound wrestler ever to compete, and he claims tonight he's going to prove it! He says they might as well just give him the belt now, cause their ain't anybody in the back who can hang with him, the greatest athlete in the business! This leads ACH to make his entrance with a mic in hand and he begs to differ! ACH says he sees Skipper, and knows he's one of the best, but tonight, he's getting put down like the rest, cause the ELITE Championship is coming home to Texas with ACH!
ACH (2015) vs. Elix Skipper (2000)
Skipper and ACH trade some quick reversals before ACH catches Skipper with a Droplkick to send Skipper to the outside, and “Primetime” seems frustrated. After some posturing and delay, these two start to trade holds again before Skipper delivers a Spin Kick, followed by a Double Underhook Suplex for a short two count. Skipper keeps the heat on ACH from there, trying to get in his head verbally and paintbrushing the back of his head, but ACH shows determination, battling back with big strikes before hitting a Diving Clothesline in the corner, followed by a Diving Crossbody for a two count! Skipper manages to catch ACH with a low blow out of sight of the referee, getting boos from the crowd, before delivering the Play of the Day, but ACH shocks everyone with a kick out! Skipper argues with the referee, only to have ACH dropkick him to the back, sending him through the ropes and to the apron. ACH pulls Skipper through the ropes and delivers a Rope Hung Rolling Cutter, but he's not done! ACH pulls Skipper into position and then heads to the middle rope, from which he dives and delivers the Best 450 Ever, and that does it. ACH gets the three, and he advances to the next round in style!
Michael Elgin (2014) vs. Paul Burchill (2004)
The stalky build of Michael Elgin is chalked full of power, and beyond that, Elgin possesses a good amount of skill. However, at 6'04”, 280 lbs., Paul Burchill has perhaps more power than Elgin, and a great deal of speed and freakish agility. Elgin would land some very hard blows and tried to turn this match more into a brawl, but Burchill showed a lot of toughness and power before displaying his phenomenal skills, such as executing a Standing Moonsault and a Front Flip Dive to the outside over the turnbuckle, eliciting chants of “HOLY SHIT!” from the audience! In the end, Elgin's frustration would get the better of him, and he would attack Burchill with a chair to cause the referee to call for a disqualification. The referee would soon exit the ring as Elgin threatened him with the chair, before Elgin delivered a big Powerbomb to Burchill onto the chair, getting boos from the crowd as he left with a look of indignation on his face.
Next out we have “Sugar” Shane Helms, who's accompanied by a few ladies dancing and the fans seem very happy to see him here in Orlando! Helms enters the ring and grabs a microphone. He says tonight is important, because tonight, he once again begins a journey... a journey to become a champion! He says he's faced the best and beaten everyone who's been put in front of him, and he says he doesn't want to let his fans down tonight and will do the same to Jay Lethal! This leads Jay Lethal to make his way out from behind the curtain with his sleeveless robe and a microphone, smiling and shaking his head. Lethal says that Helms can play to the crowd and bring out the girls and act like a big shot, but he says behind his pretty boy persona and flashy gimmicks, he knows he's no Jay Lethal! Lethal says many regard Shane Helms as one of the best, and Jay says he can respect that. He says Helms has done a lot, had his cup of coffee in the big time and done some impressive things. However, being ONE of the best isn't going to cut it tonight, because TONIGHT, Shane Helms steps into the ring with THE BEST wrestler on the planet today! He says “Sugar” Shane might have some fans sweet on him here in Orlando, but tonight, Shane Helms and all of his fans are going to learn the taste of bitter defeat! Jay Lethal heads down to the ring from there, and these fans are riled up now and chanting for Shane Helms!
Jay Lethal (2015) vs. Shane Helms (2001)
Lethal and Helms both have many flashy moves at their disposal, and neither man is afraid to take a risk. Helms can put a lot of pepper behind his shots, though, and he used his hard right hands and kicks to rock the over confident Lethal early, causing him to rethink his strategy. Lethal would eventually start working the leg of Helms and attempted more than once to make his submit to a Figure Four Leglock, but Helms would show great resolve in refusing to quit. Helms would battle back and eventually take to the air once more, delivering a Frog Crossbody Block, but Lethal would manage to kick out at two! Helms would call for the end, attempting the Nightmare on Helms Street, but Lethal would reverse and deliver a Belly-to-Back into a Neckbreaker for a two count of his own! Both men would trade shots before Helms would catch Lethal with a kick to the gut, attempting to set him up for the Vertebreaker, but Lethal slipped out and kicked him below the belt out of sight of the referee! The fans would go nuts with boos, but Lethal would end up running and handspringing off the ropes, coming backwards and delivering his Lethal Injection, and it's all over! Jay Lethal steals a win here, and he looks damn proud of himself! Damn you, Jay Lethal!
Next out to the stage we have the self-proclaimed “King of Old School”, Steve Corino, and these fans are not giving him a warm reaction tonight! Corino seems to thrive on it, as he mocks the crowd before mocking his opponent for the night, Sami Callihan! Corino says a disheveled, degenerate like Callihan has no business in a wrestling ring, and he says people like Callihan are what is wrong with this country! He says Callihan calls himself “The New Horror”, but he says the only thing frightening about Sami is how bad he wrestles! Sami Callihan has heard enough and makes his way out, looking as maniacal as ever and carrying a mic, his frock of black hair going every which way as he tears into Corino. Callihan says Corino's are as irrelevant as they are pathetic. All of his posturing, all of his conjecture, it won't save him! Tonight, the “Callihan Death Machine” rolls through Orlando, and it's not going to stop until “The New Horror” becomes the new reality in professional wrestling, and that reality can only be realized when Sami Callihan becomes the ELITE Champion! With that, Callihan storms down to the ring and we have ourselves a fight!
Steve Corino (2001) vs. Sami Callihan (2012)
A fight is really the only way to describe this one, and it was particularly vicious. These two knocked each other from pillar to post in this match, and the referee was very generous in not calling for a disqualification against either man, as they battled all around ring side from unknown amounts of time, wreaking havoc on one another. Corino would eventually slip into coward mode as it seemed Callihan's “crash style” of offense had begun to take its toll, but it was only long enough to slip in a cheap shot to his throat and then deliver the Old School Suplex! To the shock and dismay of Corino, though, that only yielded him a two count and now his attention and ill will turned to the referee. As Corino began laying a verbal lashing on the ref, Callihan would regain his composure and catch Corino turning with Scissor Kick to the face, sending him back against the ropes and then right into a Lariat, but Corino would manage to kick out, showing some guts on his part. Callihan would attempt to lock on the Stretch Muffler, but Corino would fight it off and eventually these two would be left trading blows in the center of the ring. Corino would snap off an Old School Kick, attempting to end Callihan, but Callihan would spin and deliver a Discus Lariat, and both men were down from there! Both men would rise to their feet, and Callihan would attempt an Exploder Suplex, only to have it reversed into an Old School Explusion attempt, but Callihan would reverse that, delivering a Northern Lights Suplex! Callihan rolls through the suplex, however, and grabs Corino's leg, and he pulls him over, Stretch Muffler! Callihan has the Muffler locked in and Corino is bent in half! Corino can't escape and is forced to tap, and the fans give him great ovation! Sami Callihan moves on to the semi-finals, and he looks to be a very dangerous foe for anybody in the near future.
Lance Storm (1999) vs. Roderick Strong (2015)
This was a match that didn't require any build or any smack talk from either man. The looks on their faces told the story, as the stoic, icy Storm looked across the ring at the brash, confident Strong, both men certain of their own victory as the bell sounded. The fans were split here, as both men traded hold for hold, with Storm eventually getting the upper hand, and the frustration was clearly ethced on Strong's face. Strong would try to turn the tides, lighting up Storm with a thunderous chop that set a battle of attrition into full swing, with both men trying their best to break the will of the other with chops and kicks to no avail. Finally, Strong would put together some bigger offense, landing a high knee to Storm's face before delivering a Backbreaker variation to earn a two count. Storm would attempt to escape the assault from Strong, who began wearing down Storm's back with knees, by heading to the outside, but Strong would follow and things would just get uglier. Storm would eventually take back control, reversing an attempted Orange Crush from Strong and delivering a Snap Suplex into the guardrail! From there, Storm would take to the apron and fly off, delivering a hard Dropkick that sent Strong into the guardrail once more! Storm would send Strong into the ring and then try to come off the springboard with Dropkick, but Strong would see it coming and evade it, reversing the move and locking on his Strong Hold, but Storm would get to the ropes for the break! Strong would continue his assault, delivering a Half Nelson Backbreaker, but still just a two count! Strong would stay on the attack, working the back more and mocking the fans, getting them to start chanting for Storm to fight back. Strong would get Storm up on his shoulders and attempt the Death by Roderick, but Storm would fight his way out, landing a Superkick soon after and then delivering a Bridging German Suplex, but only for a two count! Storm would call for the end and go looking for the Deep Impact, but Storm would reverse it, battling out with blows to the midsection before coming off the ropes with a Sick Kick! Strong thought it was over there, but Storm managed to kick out at two and the fans breathed a sigh of relief! Strong felt the desperation sinking in and would go looking for the Strong Breaker, but Storm reversed it with a knee to the face. Strong would try to rush Storm, but Storm would fall back and capture him with a legmare before locking in a High Half Crab! Strong looked to be in a lot of trouble, but he would get to the ropes after a long struggle. Storm now looked frustrated, but stayed on the attack, pulling Strong into the powerbomb position. Storm would lift him in the corner and attempt a Running Powerbomb, but Strong would reverse with a Sunset Flip in the center of the ring and pull him into a Jacknife Pin attempt! The ref would get to two before Storm would kick out, but Strong would seamlessly reverse the hold into the Strong Hold once again! Storm would try to fight his way to the ropes but Strong would ease up and then plant multiple boots to Storm's head before planting his knee in the small of his back once more, cranking back even harder, but Storm would keep fighting. Strong would ease up again, and this time Storm would twist, breaking his leg free and kicking Strong right in the face, sending him back and down to a knee as the fans cheered! Storm would roll to the apron, and after catching his breath for a moment, sized up the wobbling Strong and came off the springboard with a clothesline, taking Stong down to the mat! Storm would find his way to his feet, hanging on the ropes, and call for the end. Strong would stumble up on the ropes and turn, catching another Superkick from Storm to stun him, wobbling him back and forth in the center of the ring, the lights on but nobody home! Storm would then grab him and pull him in, lifting him and delivering the Deep Impact! The fans cheered and chanted out as the referee made the count, and Lance Storm has done it! With a three count over Roderick Strong, Lance Storm is headed to the semi-finals of the ELITE Championship tournament!
