NWA Hybrid Pro TV 16/06/2012 Results
Welcome to the latest episode of NWA Hybrid Pro TV. Tonight, the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title will be defended once again, as Shinsuke Nakamura will put the belt on the line against the man who ran Petey William out of Hybrid Pro, Drew McIntyre. Lets get straight into the action with our opening contest.
Tryout Series
Michael Shane vs Mike Mondo
The winner of this match between these two free agents will win a spot on the NWA Hybrid Pro roster. This was a solid if short match, and very difficult to call as while Shane had the height advantage, Mondo had the weight and power advantage, and Shane had to take to the air a few times to keep up, very unusual for him. Shane ended up winning to take the spot on the roster, as he hat the Superkick to get the 3 count.
Winner- Michael Shane
Brad Allen comes down to the ring ahead of his matchup, and cuts a promo.
Allen: You know, the last year or so of my career has been pretty stupid. I went from being a talented young prospect, to playing second fiddle to Steve Blackman and acting like I was Billy Gunn. Well I'm going to prove that I'm way more than that now I'm here in Hybrid Pro, and when I win my match tonight, people will remember my name, they will know I am....
Before he can say anymore, Ryback makes his way out, and I guess we will never know what Brad Allen was about to say.
Tryout Series
Ryback vs Brad Allen
Another total demolition job by Ryback, he ran straight through poor Brad Allen here and demolished him in less than 2 minutes with all of his big power moves. He finished it with the Shell Shocked, and Allen didn't even hit a single move. FEED ME MORE!
Winner- Ryback
Lucha Libre Tag Team Match
Aerostar and La Sombra vs Los Maximos (Joel and Jose Maximo)
Here we have a matchup totally unique to Hybrid pro, a lucha libre tag team matchup between two talented teams of luchadors. Los Maximos were the more skilled when it came to teamwork, with their many years of teaming together showing here, but Aerostar and La Sombra's high flying skill was very difficult to keep up with, they took a lot more risks than Los Maximos and flew around the ring. And this is what lead to them winning the match, as when Los Maximos went for the Spanish Fly on Aerostar, Sombra pulled Joel off the turnbuckle, Aerostar took Jose down with a Headscissors off the top, and then followed this up with the Imploding 450 to secure the victory.
Winners- Aerostar and La Sombra
Rematch, Pure Wrestling Rules
Kyle Matthews vs Charlie Haas
Haas requested this matchup tonight, as the two compete under Pure Wrestling rules. This meant both wrestlers had 3 rope breaks each, there are no closed fists allowed and there is a 20 count on the floor (as opposed to the regular 10 count). Matthews looked great here again, matching Haas hold for hold, but it was experience that proved to be the decisive factor. Haas smartly went for his Haas of Pain submission early in the match not once, but twice, and Matthews grabbed the ropes both times rather than come up with a reversal. With 1 rope break left Matthews did all he could to keep in the match, forcing Haas to use up a rope break when he locked in the Hidaka Lock, but after a nasty German Suplex Matthews was forced to use his final rope break to stop a 3 count. Haas then locked the Haas of Pain, and with no means of escape, Matthews had no choice but to tap out.
Winner- Charlie Haas
Haas celebrated his victory, and headed up the ramp, but before he could get backstage Matthews got the microphone.
Matthews: Charlie Haas, I'm not done with you yet! You may have beat me here tonight, but I beat you last week, and this isn't over. I want you in one final match, to decide exactly who the better man is. And the way I see it, there's only one match appropriate, and that is a Submission match!
Haas signals for Matthews to bring it on, which I guess means this challenge has been accepted. Next week it will be Kyle Matthews vs Charlie Haas in a submission match, to once and for all decide who the better man is.
Lucha Libre Grudge Match
Juventud Guerrera vs Psychosis
These two men have wrestled each other so many times over the past 20 years or so that they know practically every move the other will do before they even do it. As a result, this was a real treat for the fans, a great lucha style match with lots of reversals and counters in addition to the high risk moves you would expect. However, before we could get a decisive winner, Super Crazy ran out and told both of his former Mexicools team mates to calm down and stop fighting, and that they could work much better together as a team. He had appeared to calm them down, but then ATTACKED PSYCHOSIS FROM BEHIND! He then laid out Juvi with the Crazy Bomb, and Psychosis with a Moonsault before leaving! What is the meaning of this?
Winner- No Contest
As a result of Super Crazy's attack, next week we will see a 3 way match between the former Mexicools, Juventud Guerrera, Psychosis and Super Crazy. The winner of that match will be the one to keep their spot on the Hybrid Pro roster!
Grudge Match
The Rotundas ("Husky" Harris Rotunda and Bo Rotunda) vs Super Dragon and Brandon Bonham
A heated grudge match here, as The Rotundas cost Super Dragon his match for the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title last week, in addition to giving Brandon Bonham a nasty beatdown in the process. The Rotundas were the more sharp as far as tag team wrestling goes, being brothers meant they had a certain telepathy that helped overcome their lack of experience compared to their opponents. But Dragon had all the experience in the world, and hat hard, the exchanges between himself and Harris Rotunda were very nasty. Bonham also took quite a few risks to help his teams cause, but got isolated from Dragon by the double team skill of the brothers Rotunda. He finally escaped and made the tag, and Dragon was on fire, taking down both Rotundas with nasty strikes and power. Harris and Dragon got into a slugfest outside the ring which temporarily distracted the ref, as Bo low blowed Bonham, then nailed the Speat to get the 3 count.
Winners- The Rotundas
Post match Bo grabbed a chair and smashed Bonham over the head with it not once, not twice, but 3 times, as Bonham bled heavily from the head. Dragon dropped Harris with the Psycho Driver on the floor which had the crowd on its feet, before running to Bonham's aid, but it was too late as he was hurt badly. We might not be seeing him in action for quite a while. Next week, Super Dragon will take on Husky Harris in singles competition, but who will he have at his side to aid him?
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
The Jung Dragons (Jimmy Yang and Kaz Hayashi) vs Middle Aged and Crazy (Ace Steel and Chad Collyer)
This was a tough title defence for the champions, facing two veterans of the sport who can outwrestle anyone, not to mention thanks to their crazy personalities will do just about anything to win. it was also a perfect example of the hybrid nature of Hybrid Pro, as we had the Jung Dragons taking to the air at every opportunity, while Middle Aged and Crazy wrestled a more grounded style, mixing brawling with matwork. Eventually the match completely broke down into a fight, as both teams brawled around the ringside area, and the ref had no choice but to call the match a no contest.
Winners- No Contest
The brawl continued post match, eventually forcing officials to run out and break things up. next week on Hybrid Pro TV, we will see Kaz Hayashi take on Chad Collyer in singles competition, with both respective partners in each others corners. If Collyer wins, his team will earn another title match.
NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title Match
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Drew McIntyre
A solid title defence here from Nakamura, this time without any outside interference from other parties as there was last week. McIntyre was tough opposition from Nakamura, he may be young and not have quite the level of mat wrestling skill that Nakamura has, but he has lots of in-ring smarts, and took advantage of every opening he could to cheat behind the referee's back and bend the rules in his favour. It lead to him getting a very near fall with the Future Shock, with Nakamura only just kicking out and no more. McIntyre went for the move a second time, but Nakamura was able to reverse out and lock McIntyre in the Shining Triangle, which McIntyre only managed to escape from by grabbing the ropes. Nakamura followed this up with the Bona Ye, and McIntyre could not kick out of that, Nakamura retains!
Winner- Shinsuke Nakamura
As Nakamura was celebrating his victory, the lights went out! A message then shows up on the titantron-
THE DIGITAL ERA HAS BEGUN!
The pyro goes off and a spotlight appears at the entrance amongst the darkness, as Cibernetico comes out. He raises his hands slowly into the air as the lights come back on, AND JEFF HARDY IS IN THE RING! He smashes Nakamura in the back with a chair, climbs up top and nails the Swanton Bomb! Hardy walks up the ramp to join Cibernetico as he slowly lowers his hands, and the lights go back off, as we see the two Antichrists of wrestling, Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy in the spotlight to end the show. What will we see from these two men next week?
