NWA Hybrid Pro TV 23/06/2012 Results
The opening for the show starts to play, but before it finishes it some digital electricity forces it to cut out, then we cut to the arena which is in total darkness. The pyro then explodes and two spotlights appear in the ring, one purple and one green, and there stand Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy respectively. The fans boo as Cibernetico, microphone in hand, prepares to talk.
Cibernetico: Last week, phase one of The Antichrists prophecy was completed. A prophecy which predicts the very downfall of professional wrestling as it is today, and the introduction of a new era, a digital era. An era where great talent will no longer be squandered, where all wrestlers will be allowed to fulfil their potential, and not be shot down for being something they are not, nor driven to self-destruction by the road and by addictions. It will be an era lead by two visionaries who have been shunned by the industry, two geniuses of their craft who have never been treated with the respect they deserve, and who have suffered the very worst that the business has to offer. Those men are me, Cibernetico, and Jeff Hardy! Now we move onto phase two, that phase being the capture of the NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title. Thats why we demand that Shinsuke Nakamura get out here right now and face us man to man!
The lights come back on, and Shinsuke Nakamura doesn't come out, but Hybrid Pro Commissioner John Laurinaitis does.
Laurinaitis: Now I understand that you two men have a vision for where you want to be in this industry, as an unbiased Commissioner I respect your right to do things your way. But every action has a consequence. Last week you took an action by attacking the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, and you will face the consequences. Those will be that tonight in that ring, both you Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy will be in a tag team match against the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, and his tag team partner, John Cena!
The fans give a mixed reaction for that, as the Antichrists don't seem phased at all by the announcement. Laurinaitis isn't done though.
Laurinaitis: Now a lot of fans may question why John Cena is involved tonight, and indeed if he can be trusted. Well he is involved as I am going to use this very match to decide who faces Shinsuke Nakamura next. If Nakamura and Cena win, John Cena will challenge for the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight next week! But if Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy win, both men will receive title matches against the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight champion!
Thats a huge announcement there, who will be challenging for the belt next week?
Michael Shane vs La Sombra
An excellent opening contest here, as La Sombra pulled off all kind of crazy lucha moves to take Shane down, while Shane took a more grounded approach and tried to slow down the pace. He struggled to do so since Sombra was just so fast, but some big right hands and submissions helped Shane out. Shane then hat the big Elbow off the top rope, and went for the Superkick, but Sombra into a Hurricanrana. Sombra was just setting up for the Brillante Driver, but the referee called for the bell, the time limit expired and this match is declared a draw!
Winner- Draw
Sombra and Shane exchanged a handshake post match, and we can expect to see a rematch down the line between these two.
Drew McIntyre and Yoshi Tatsu head down to the ring, as Tatsu is set to receive a tryout. John Laurinaitis then comes out.
Laurinaitis: I don't know what your doing here Yoshi Tatsu, but I only look for good wrestlers with lots of potential when it comes to tryouts, and you certainly don't fit that description. In fact, Drew McIntyre, you don't need to waste any time with this loser, you can have the night off.
Drew seems pleased as he walks to the back for the easiest payday he's ever had.
Laurinaitis: Instead Yoshi Tatsu, you can face someone else who deserves a tryout way more than you do. He's a man of exceptional potential, a man of honour and integrity, and a man who knows all of the rules and laws of sports entertainment. He is my personal legal advisor, David Otunga!
David Otunga makes his way out to the ring, and it appears he's going to wrestle in a jersey, bowtie and pants, thats definitely unique wrestling gear.
Tryout Series
Yoshi Tatsu vs David Otunga
One thing that can be said about this match is that Otunga definitely took Tatsu lightly, believing he was a pushover, and got sorely punished as a result, getting kicked, striked and outwrestled for much of the match. Eventually, Otunga managed to overpower Tatsu, catching Tatsu's leg during a Roundhouse Kick attempt and hitting a Belly to Belly Suplex. Otunga followed this up with a few more power moves, before hitting The Verdict for the 3 count.
Winner- David Otunga
Damien Sandow makes his way down to the ring, but cuts a promo along the way.
Sandow: First of all, it truly is disgraceful that I, an intellectually superior human being, have to wrestle in front of a bunch of imbeciles such as the fans in attendance this evening.
The fans boo huge, Sandow certainly isn't endearing himself to them.
Sandow: And whats worse, I have to wrestle in the worst state in the entire United States in New Jersey, a state that is overcrowded with morons, and has one of the highest crime rates in America. Many of those criminals are in attendance tonight I expect, since you all look like you lack the intelligence to succeed in a real job or any area of life.
The fans are really on Sandow's case here, and with good reason.
Sandow: My opponent tonight is a luchador by the name of Aerostar, luchador being a term meaning unable to wrestle, which Aerostar covers up by flipping around like a gymnast. He can't even speak English, whereas I can speak Mexican and over 30 different languages, just another reason why I am intellectually superior to everyone in this arena. Tonight I will give Aerostar and all of you a wrestling lesson that you will never forget.
Damien Sandow vs Aerostar
Very much like our previous match, Sandow seemingly underestimated his opponent, and Aerostar almost made Sandow pay for that through some truly death defying high flying moves and pinning combinations. Sandow however is as he says he is a very intelligent man, and was able t take advantage of the rules and use them to his advantage, grabbing the ropes regularly to escape moves, and distracting the ref to allow him to slip in a cheap shot or two. Sandow then played possum when Aerostar went up top for the Imploding 450, which missed as Sandow did some jumping jacks. He quickly hat the Straight Jacket Neckbreaker, and that was enough to put Aerostar away.
Winner- Damien Sandow
Sandow celebrated by doing a few cartwheels, though maybe those were a shot at Aerostar and his high flying style. Still, very impressive win for Sandow.
Losers Lose Their Spot in Hybrid Pro
Juventud Guerrera vs Psychosis vs Super Crazy
Initially this rivalry came about between Guerrera and Psychosis over their inability to deal with young luchadors Aerostar and La Sombra, but Crazy inserted himself into this last week which has shaken things up. The former Mexicools battled here to try and keep their spots, with the winner being the only person staying. It was a fast paced matchup with lots of high flying as you would expect, but there was a lot of quality matwork here to, which you would expect from 3 veterans of the sport. The big defining factor in the end was that while Guerrera and Psychosis have wrestled regularly for many years, Crazy has only wrestled Guerrera and Psychosis on a few occasions, so they weren't quite as familiar with his style as they were with each others, and thus Crazy got a lot more of his big moves in. Guerrera would miss a 450 on Psychosis, and as Psychosis got up he walked straight into a Crazy Bomb, and Super Crazy got 3 to take the spot and send Guerrera and Psychosis packing.
Winner- Super Crazy
So Super Crazy has walked into Hybrid Pro and stolen the spots of 2 lucha legends in his first match. He will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in Hybrid Pro!
Submission Match
Charlie Haas vs Kyle Matthews
This is the rubber match between these two, who hold a victory each over each other during the past 2 weeks. And it definitely matched their previous encounters, perhaps even surpassing them, as these two now had some familiarity that in turn made for some great mat wrestling, filled with reversals, holds and counter holds. Both men picked apart a body part, with Matthews working on the back to setup for the Octopus Stretch, while Haas worked on the right leg to setup for the Haas of Pain. Haas's strategy paid off, as Matthews began to struggle to put any weight on his leg and couldn't hit many of his moves effectively, but Haas was struggling to with his back giving him a lot of pain. Haas managed to lock in the Haas of Pain in the centre of the ring, but because of his back the hold wasn't fully locked in, and Matthews managed to use his hands to lift himself and escape the hold. Haas went for a German Suplex, but Matthews flipped out and locked in the Octopus Stretch. His leg gave out though and he fell to the canvas, but still kept the hold locked in, which made the hold even more painful for Haas. HAAS TAPS! Kyle Matthews win the series between the two, what a boost for him this is!
Winner- Kyle Matthews
Post match Charlie Haas shakes Matthews's hand, and calls him "the future of professional wrestling". Few would deny that based on his performances in Hybrid Pro so far.
We head backstage where John Cena is preparing for his match.
Cena: Since the NWA began, its been a strange time for John Cena. I was a gangsta in BLK OUT, then an evil doctor known as Dr Thug in NWA UK and had a cup of coffee in Great Lakes. But one thing I've noticed for a long time now is that I have a lot of enemies, enemies in the crowd, enemies in the locker room and amongst the higher ups, and my stock has fallen as a result. And I think I know why. For years I've acted like a goofball, making poop jokes and messing around, when what I should have been doing was busting my ass every night for the fans. And while there will always be a spot for John Cena on any roster, I don't want what has been in the past to be my legacy. Its time for John Cena to reinvent himself, not as a sports entertainer, but as a professional wrestler, and earn back all that respect I've lost.
Cena walks away as the camera pans away, and one significant thing was noticeable about Cena, he wasn't wearing his jorts, he was wearing trunks and boots, actual wrestling gear!
Kaz Hayashi w/Jimmy Yang vs Chad Collyer w/Ace Steel
Things got heated between these two teams last week when they started a brawl during their Tag Team Title match, which had to be broken up by officials. This match was very heated to, but still largely a pure wrestling match as opposed to a fight, as two of the best mat wrestler around in Hayashi and Collyer looked great in this one. Shenanigans did take place here towards the end, as Steel took out Yang on the outside with a chairshot. He headed into the ring, AND HAT COLLYER WITH THE CHAIR! The ref calls for the DQ, and Collyer wins by DQ?
Winner- Chad Collyer by DQ
Steel beats down Yang and Hayashi with the chair, and when Collyer gets up he starts doing the same. Its clear what that was, Steel had Collyer with the chair to get the Jung Dragons DQ'ed, so that they'd get the title match. Collyer goes over to where the tag belts are being kept, and get a mic.
Collyer: So with our win tonight, I think myself and Ace Steel proved that we are the real Tag Team Champions. In fact, just hands the belts on over, we'll save you even having to wrestle us again.
Collyer grabs the belts, hands one to Steel and they head up the ramp, stealing the belts! The Jung Dragons will not be at all pleased about this, and they will be looking to get what is rightfully theirs back next week when they face Middle Aged and Crazy.
Grudge Match II
Super Dragon vs "Husky" Harris Rotunda w/Bo Rotunda
Dragon's tag team partner Brandon Bonham was taken out last week by The Rotundas, and now he's all on his own against both, albeit this is a one on one matchup. It was a very hard hitting, stiff contest, with Dragon brutalising Rotunda with nasty strikes, and Rotunda tossing Dragon around with that power of his and some big slams. Bo got involved constantly, and distracted Dragon long enough for Harris to sneak up from behind, Clothesline Dragon in the back of the head, and his the Running Senton which Dragon couldn't get up from.
Winner- "Husky" Harris Rotunda
The Rotundas looked to take out Dragon for good post match, but before they could do any significant damage Kyle Matthews of all people ran out to save Dragon from the attack. He challenged The Rotundas to a tag match next week, a challenge which was accepted, that will be a very interesting match.
The Antichrists (Cibernetico and Jeff Hardy) vs Shinsuke Nakamura and John Cena
Cena really is getting more serious, not only is he now wearing trunks instead of jorts, he didn't salute the fans or run to the ring, in fact he barely did any of his usual mannerisms during the match at all, instead concentrating on trying to outwrestle the Antichrists. Nakamura on the other hands was fuming after last week, and brought a lot of fire as he was determined to get revenge. The Antichrists looked like they didn't care for the rules, the match or their opponents, constantly breaking the rules and stalling for time, and almost walked out of the match altogether at one point. After a period of working over Cena, he got the hot tag to Nakamura who cleaned house along with Cena, but Cibernetico picked his spot perfectly, grabbing both Cena and Nakamura by the throat and delivering a Double Garra Cibernetica, then Hardy nailed a Double Swanton and pinned both men, wow!!!
Winners- The Antichrists
John Laurinaitis came out applauding with a microphone in hand.
Laurinaitis: Well done gentlemen, you won the match. And as promised, you will both receive title matches. I have determined that next week, Shinsuke Nakamura will defend his Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title against the man who got the double pinfall here tonight, Jeff Hardy. The winner of that matchup will then go on to put the belt on the line against Cibernetico at the NWA Great American Bash.
The fans seem to like this decision, but Laurinaitis isn't done.
Laurinaitis: As for you John Cena, I'm going to give you another opportunity. Next week on Hybrid Pro TV, you will wrestle Cibernetico, and if you win, then the week after next, you will receive a title match against the winner of Shinsuke Nakamura and Jeff Hardy.
Another big decision there, we certainly have some big title matches coming up in the future. Make sure to join us next week on Hybrid Pro TV as Shinsuke Nakamura defend the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title against Jeff Hardy, The Jung Dragons defend the Tag Team Titles against Middle Aged and Crazy, John Cena faces Cibernetico, Super Dragon and Kyle Matthews face The Rotundas plus much more. See you next week!
