One on One Match : Adam Pearce -v Jim Powers
Jim Powers defeated Adam Pearce by disqualification in 01:11.
Match notes: Adams dominated the match, and then for some reason, rolled out to the floor grabbed a chair and proceeded to level Powers. Adams left Powers in the center of the ring of the ring with the chair next to him.
Tommy Dreamer made his way out and told the fans that CPW was indeed producing a new 'King of the Ring'. The rules are that everyone on the CPW roster is eligible to participate, plus limited spots have been designated for talent from other promotions within the NWA. Winning is key to getting in. The best 6 win/loss records in the CPW will get in. The ranking period starts tonight and ends August 3rd! Win's and Losses count, so every match counts.
He went on to address the Randy Orton / Miz feud. He said that over the past few weeks that the Miz has gotten the wins, so He is allowing Orton to pick the Miz's opponent to night, and giving Orton a Title Match. At the next show, The Miz would get a Title Match, and pick Orton's opponent.
Orton came out and said his choice to face The Miz is Sabian!
Pick the Opponent Match : Sabian -v- The Miz
Sabian pinned The Miz with the Black Jesus Stomp in 06:00 after Orton hit The Miz with a RKO on the arena floor.
Match notes: This match wasn't a match so much as it was an attempt for Orton to get under the skin of The Miz. During the whole match, Orton was at ringside, taunting The Miz, who finally had enough of the verbal bantering and went after Orton, who at the time was on the ring apron. Orton pulled the ref between himself and Miz, then shoved the ref into Miz. Orton then dragged Miz to the floor, threw him into the rinpost and RKO'ed him, before rolling him back into the ring for an easy win for Sabian.
One on One Match Match : Chris Jericho -v- Matt Hardy
Chris Jericho defeated Matt Hardy with the Code breaker in 10:43.
Match notes: This match was a very good back and forth match between the former multi-time NWA World Champion and one of CPW's up and coming stars. Both men had several near falls to start off the match. Chris then tried to slow the match down, but Matt kept the energy and pace going, frustrating Jericho. Late in the match, it looked like Hardy might have had an opportunity to seal the deal, but, for some reason, he decided to go to the second rope for some high risk move, but Chris hit the Code Breaker out of instinct to secure the hard fought win.
One on One Match : Jack Swagger -v- Alex Riley
Jack Swagger defeated Alex Riley when Alex Riley taped out to the Ankle Lock in 04:02.
Match notes: Another good fast paced match, but this one was really all Swagger. He used his wrestling skills wear down Riley and targeted the ankle from the get go.
Interview with Rey Mysterio
Rey accepted the match at the East vs. West Joint iPPV 2/3 Falls Match against Mistico. He said that in the past they had met, but on July 20th, he would be fighting for CPW, and would not only win, but would win in 2 falls to prove that CPW IS the better promotion!
Non-Title Tag Team Match Match : Dolph Ziggler & Joe Henning -v- Money Inc.
Dolph Ziggler & Joe Henning defeated Money Inc. in 15:01 when Joe Henning pined Ted DiBiase with the Perfect Plex after Samoa Joe interfered.
Match notes: This was a non-title match that was set up earlier in the day, and just as every one thought, the Faces of Fear played a part... the decisive part in the out come. Both teams are young and hungry, with Money Inc holding the CPW Tag Team Titles, and Jasmin St. Claire's team of Ziggler and Henning wanting the CPW Titles. The match went back and forth, with both teams refraining form going for a pinfall for the first 5 or 6 minutes of the match. Each team made quick tags, big moves and hard hitting shots that had the fans excited for this match. In the end, Samoa Joe made his way to the ring, got on the apron, and while Dolph had the ref distracted, pulled Ted's neck over the top rope as as Joe hit a hot shot on Ted, for kind of a 'rope assisted' 3D. From there, it was an easy pin fall while Robert was distracted with Joe, who was trying to escape, having done what he was out to do.
Interview with Alberto Del Rio
Del Rio accepted the challenge of Rhyno, saying he would show him and NWA East what a REAL champion is all about, and then he would then show Punk at the Great American Bash what it mean to be the 'Most Dangerous Champion' in the NWA' when he retakes the NWA World Championship!
One on One Match : Evan Sydal -v- Mark Henry
Mark Henry pinned Evan Sydal with the World's Strongest Slam in 08:43.
Match notes: Evan came out ready to wrestle, but then took the mic saying he had gotten rid of Abyss. He said that Abyss was an ungrateful monstrosity, who should have never been born. The next part was bleeped out by the production crew for it's filth. Even was then cut off by Henry's intro. Henry walked to the ring with a stern look on his face, and just went after Evan. The match wasn't a classic by any stretch. It did have it's good points, such as Henry kicking out of a 3-peat of moonsaults from Evan (Standing, 2nd rope and top rope) and Evan getting a shoulder up after a corner to corner avalanche. In the end, Evan was just too small to take all the punishment.
CPW Championship Match : Randy Orton -v- Alberto Del Rio (C)
Alberto Del Rio pinned Randy Orton after the Michinoku Driver in 15:11 to retain the CPW Heavyweight Title after The Miz interfeared.
Match notes: This match was one hell of an encounter. It has been 6 months since these two last encountered each other, and they picked right where they left off from EPW! The brutality was off the chart! Both men were bleeding near the 6 minute mark, yet didn't seam to care, other than to make the other bleed more! The fans were on their feet the WHOLE match! In the end, The Miz came down, but was met by Orton, who brawled with him for a few minuted before security pulled The miz back to the dressing room. As Orton made his way back into the ring, Del Rio hit the Michinoku Driver and made the cover to retain his championship.
