Shane Douglas, along with the commentary team and Jeremy Borash, are in the ring to welcome all of the fans to the show tonight. He says tonight is all about a great cause for some really need children right here in this community, and around Michigan, and everybody in that locker room is ready to give the performance of their lives for that cause, and everybody on staff sends out their best wishes, and will be available to meet and greet at different points in the night. He announces that tonight's main event is going to be very special, because the winner of the match, which is a 10-man elimination match, will be headed to Philadelphia to compete in the main event of the annual Great American Bash, where they will be TAKING CM Punk's World Heavyweight championship, and bringing it right back here to where it belongs, in the Midwest, where the best wrestling in the world takes place! The fans pop big, as this show gets on the road.
MATCH ONE
Mason Andrews |X| vs. Chris Dickinson |O|
Andrews has been working the Southern California scene for years trying to get noticed, and is getting his first real break here in Great Lakes, a long way from home. Chris Dickinson was good match for Andrews, who says his style is a mixture between, "High flying and mixed martial arts," while Dickinson is one of the most intense wrestlers on the Great Lakes roster, using a very strike-oriented hybrid style, which can see him execute high risk maneuvers, but also, and most prominently, dominate with the mat game. Dickinson is a very vocal and provocative character, his trunks sporting the words "SEX MURDER ART" on the back, and that's really what this guy is all about. Andrews showed a lot of heart, withstanding a lot of what Dickinson had to throw at him and enduring his harsh words, nearly getting the win with a Bicycle Knee Strike, but Dickinson would eventually take the victory, hitting a Dragon Suplex rolled into a Full Nelson Clutch, securing the hard fought submission victory in a match that had the fans enticed thoroughly.
MATCH TWO
Trent Barreta |X| vs. Amazing Red |O|
This was a shorter match, with a pretty simple formula, as Barreta was playing a pretty generic heel, and Red was making his return as the energetic face. Barreta is a quick and agile guy, but he's also considerably bigger than Red, and decided to use that to his advatage. Barreta would work over Red's knee, which has a history of injury, while jawing with the fans, mocking them for cheering on Red. Red would eventually fight back and send Barreta to the outside with Satellite Headscissors, hitting a springboard Suicida with big air, getting a big pop from the fans. Red tries to send Barreta back in, but Barreta blocks it and slams Red around the outside, before hitting him with a Running Dropkick off of the apron for major impact! Barreta sends Red into the ring and proceeds to nail him with a well timed Springboard Swinging DDT for HUGE impact, actually getting a big pop from the crowd, but Red was determined, and wouldn't stay down for the three count. Red would duck an on coming Jumping Knee Strike from Barreta, sending Barreta down onto his back. Barreta would get to a knee, only to get driven down with the Huracanrana Driver from Red, who followed up with the Red Star Press, but only earned a two count! Red would deliver a big shoot kick to Barreta's face and try for his Infra Red off the top, dazzling the crowd, but Barreta would dodge it. Both men got up, and Barreta would try a superkick, but Red spun him around and hit a Spinning Roundhouse Kick to take him down! Red would run off the ropes from here, Barreta doubled over getting off the mat, and from there would deliver his Code Red with ring shaking authority, which lead to the big pinfall victory!
MATCH THREE
Sonjay Dutt |O| vs. Consequences Creed |X|
Both guys had the fans going, as they both came out with energetic entrances, Creed being a bit more mouthy than Dutt, however, as Dutt seemed to be a little bit more workman-like througout. Dutt was coming into his Great Lakes debut wanting to make an impression for the fans here in Dearborn, and he did just that. Dutt is simply one of the quickest men in the business, while Creed is very agile and moves like a cat in the ring, creating a very nice match up. The fans were especially pleased with the outside work these guys did, as Creed got the fans involved, asking them to put up their feet and ramming Sonjay face first into their shoes, and then having them hold up chairs for a similar purpose, until Sonjay stole one of the chairs, hitting him the gut with it and then smacking him across the spine! Creed would look to get the win minutes later, catching Dutt with a boot in the corner as he flew in for a Twisting Avalanche Splash, but Dutt caught Creed coming, reversing his Diving DDT attempt into a Facebreaker over his knee, following up with an Inverted Suplex into a Stunner! Oh, but he wasn't done. Dutt wanted to send a message in a big way, and did just that, heading up top and hitting a Backflip Double Stomp on Creed, crushing his chest cavity! Dutt hooks the leg, and it's all over! Big debut for Sonjay Dutt!
MATCH FOUR
"The Suburban Terrorist" Michael Facade |X| vs. Curt Hawkins |O| vs. Silas Young
Curt Hawkins displayed more of a mean streak in this match than we had seen last week in his tag team victory with Anthony Nese, wasting very little motion and pounding on his opponents relentlessly with forearms, chops, knee strikes, and kicks, really trying to punish them and end this thing decisively. Facade was the smaller man here, and had to use his body more like a weapon, and his speed to evade what he could from the two bigger, more brutish opponents. Silas Young is a very smart worker, and is in great physical condition, which meant he had no fear of standing toe-to-toe with the aggressive Hawkins, dishing out his own brand of hard punishment, but Hawkins just seemed to be a step ahead of everyone here tonight. Hawkins would catch Silas Young mid-PeeGee Waja Plunge with a Superkick to the face, which he followed up by tossing Young to the outside in his daze. Facade would stumble up, only to get caught with a vicious Discus Lariat from Hawkins to turn him inside out. Facade showed heart, trying to get to his feet with his fists clinched, but Hawkins would nearly thrust kick his head off as he got to a single knee, doubling him over onto his shoulders, perhaps knocking him out. From there, Hawkins wouldn't pin him, but pull his arm back into a seated Shoulder Lock before falling back into sort of a modified Cross Armbreaker, and Facade started tapping almost immediately, as Young tried to slide in to break it up. Curt Hawkins picks up a super impressive win here tonight, as Young walks to the back in anger, obviously disappointed.
MATCH FIVE
Jay Lethal |O| vs. A.C.H. |X|
A.C.H. put on a super impressive match, really working over the fans well, while Lethal also did a good job of feeding off the younger star and pushing himself harder than we've seen him push himself in quite some time. ACH has a very versatile arsenal, with many unorthodox moves to try and combat, but Lethal was also keen on dusting off some of his more obscure stuff, and used his big match experience to help him gut out this contest. These two weren't given that much time, so there really wasn't much story to be told. ACH would nail his Dragon Fly (Frog Splash) near the end, thinking he had the big win, but Lethal would kick out at nearly three. ACH would attempt a whip on Lethal afterwards, but Lethal would twist and then slide under ACH's legs while still holding his left arm, popping behind him and grabbing him up, nailing his Lethal Injection shortly after, and getting the three count for the win!
MATCH SIX
Best of 3 Falls
Team One |X|: Mickie Knuckles, Portia Perez, Cherry Bomb, Kimber Lee, Cindy Rogers vs. Team Two |O|: Becky Bayless, Jenny Rose, Melanie Cruise, Jennifer Blake, Taylor Made
These girls had obviously been doing their homework, watching a lot of old Japanese women's wrestling, as this was a very well worked contest, which saw Mickie Knuckles most vocally leading her team of heels against the faces, which seemed to be lead by Becky Bayless. This was a best two out of three match, with lucha libre rules in place, and chaos did ensue. This was a long battle, which saw Jenny Rose show off some good skills and show the heart that has won her over many fans, while Bayless would come in with fierce flurries and use her mat skills to work over her opponents. Melanie Cruise was probably the MVP for the faces, showing her well rounded skills, and getting the first fall over Cherry Bomb with a Tiger Suplex for the three count. Kimber Lee would step up for her team, displaying a nasty mean streak and tapping out Taylor Made as her partners fended off their opponents, using a high elevated Half Crab with head stomps to make her submit. Portia Perez and Mickie Knuckles would work very hard to secure the win from here, both taking a good deal of ring time for their team in the end, but Cruise would end up putting a hurt on both of them, sending Knuckles out of the ring with a Spinning DDT, and then putting Perez out on her ass with a vicious running boot as she was tangled in the ropes. Kimber Lee would send Cruise out of the ring with a torpedo-esque Running Dropkick, only to get caught shortly after with an Inverted Double Underhook Facebuster from Bayless, who gets the third and final fall for the good girls, causing the fans to cheer wildly! These girls all did a great job tonight, and got a standing ovation from the audience.
MATCH SEVEN
"The Perfect Weapon" Delirious & BJ Whitmer vs. "The Warrior" Gran Akuma & Super Dragon
Each of these wrestlers has huge striking power and extensive movesets, each with very versatile abilities, and it was a match that everybody was watching in the building, as it was no secret this match could steal the show. Akuma and Dragon make for two very brutal, dickish heels, while Delirious and Whitmer had the fans behind them, and were most certainly out for blood.
Akuma and Dragon started off with frequent tags, trying to isolate Delirious early, but found him to be a lot to handle, as would catch Akuma with some blistering chops and kicks to the face, and Dragon found himself on the wrong end of some very brutal downward elbows while in the seated position, as well as a running knee attack straight to the face while sitting in the corner. Dragon would try for a Discus Lariat, but Delirious would duck and catch him with a headbutt to the face, sending him to his corner. Whitmer would tag in, as "The Perfect Weapon" would unleash a flurry of multiple lariats in the corner, as Whitmer ran off the ropes and caught Dragon across the face as Delirious moved with an Avalanche Yakuza Kick! Whitmer would deliver a snap suplex, rolled into a Northern Lights Suplex, but only get a two count.
Whitmer would light up Dragon with some vicious knife edged chops, Whitmer and Delirious probably having some of the hardest between them, but Dragon would eat them and turn the tables on him with some kicks and open hand strikes, nailing a Blue Thunder Driver for a two count. Gran Akuma made his way back into the match and had Whitmer eat some Kawada Kicks to the face, before delivering a Bridging German Suplex, but still only a two count. Akuma goes on the attack with some shoot kicks, only to have one caught by Whitmer. BJ unleashs a wicked Dragon Screw, before pulling Akuma up and into a Twisting Fisherman's Suplex, rolled up and into a Fisherman's Buster!
Whitmer rushes, slapping Delirious out stretched hand and then rushes and knocks Dragon off the apron! Whitmer heads up top as Delirious holds Akuma's feet, and nails a Diving Headbutt! Delirious covers, but only gets a two count. Delirious stomps Akuma and goes up top, waiting for him to rise. Super Dragon and Whitmer are both on the outside, and Dragon has tossed Whitmer into the crowd now after a hard hitting exchange. Delirious comes off the top, hitting the Shadows Over Hell on Gran Akuma! It takes him a minute to pin, and that minute costs him, as Super Dragon comes flying off of the top rope and smashes Delirious' skull with a Double Stomp!
Dragon puts Akuma on Delirious, and Akuma is able to hook the leg, but still just a two count!
Akuma rolls and tags in Dragon, and Whitmer tags in from Delirious. Whitmer and Dragon exchange blows, until Whitmer catches Dragon with a back elbow to the jaw. Whitmer runs off the ropes and hits a boot that sends Dragon back, but Dragon rushes and hits a boot of his own to send Whitmer back. Whitmer replies with a Running Elbow to Dragon's jaw, which Dragon comes off the ropes, looking for a Rolling Elbow, but Whitmer yoakes him up and sends down with a picture perfect Spinebuster! Whitmer hooks the leg hard, but still just a two count.
Whitmer quickly attempts to lock on his Peruvian Necktie, but Dragon scurries and gets his foot on the rope, causing the referee to break things up. Whitmer lifts him, clubbing him to the back and sending stiff chops into his chest, but Dragon comes back with a flurry of open hand strikes, followed by a Spinning Back Kick to his chest, which sent Whitmer into the corner. From there, Dragon extends a hand out to Akuma, who is reaching far for the tag, before heading over to Whitmer in the corner.
Chop, elbow, chop, elbow... oh no, it's a Violence Party! There's some headbutts, and then knees, and then kicks, and now Whitmer is out of the corner. Delirious and Akuma are scuffling, but Delirious trying to get in, but Akuma lights him up with Kawada Kicks, before springboarding and legdropping the back of his head as he's bent inside the ropes, causing Delirious to go head first to the mat!
Dragon has Whitmer in the middle of the ring now, where he delivers a massive Lariat! Akuma heads up top and he comes off with a textbook, perfectly executed Moonsault! Akuma hooks the leg, thinking he has it, holding his hand in the air and counting off, but NO! Whitmer kicks out and the fans are on their feet! Akuma can't believe it and locks on an Arm-Trap Cross Legged Abdominal Stretch, but Delirious breaks things up with multiple elbows and headbutts to Akuma! Dragon rushes over, and he and Delirious get into a striking match, until Dragon tries for a clothesline but Delirious ducks, running off the ropes and nailing a big Leaping Clothesline, yelling out in inaudible tongues as he gets all fired up now! Dragon has rolled to the outside and Delirious flies out at him with a Tope Suicida!
Akuma and Whitmer exchange blows and Akuma tries for a Roundhouse Kick to the head of Whitmer, but Whitmer ducks... REGAL-PLEX! AKUMA LANDED RIGHT ON HIS HEAD! Akuma, though, partially due to momentum, and partially due to experience, rolls out of the ring and lands on the floor. Whitmer takes a breath on the inside as the fans cheer, before pointing out. Whitmer grabs the top rope, measuring up Akuma, before launching himself over with a nice Pescado, crushing him on the floor! Dragon has overwhelmed Delirious on the outside and is back in, after noticing the other two participants across the ringside area from him. Whitmer isn't looking towards the ring, so he never sees Dragon coming, as Dragon rushes, flying through the ropes and catching Whitmer with a brutal Tope Elbow... SHADES OF MISAWA!
Dragon sends Whitmer back in, and he has pretty much lost all control. It's all up in the air now, and it's anybody's fight to win. Dragon has Whitmer in a pumphandle and it's clear what is coming... PSYCHO DRIVER II! Dragon goes for the cover, thinking he has it, but NO! Delirious dives in and breaks it up. Delirious pulls up Dragon and seems to be looking for the Bizarro Driver, but Dragon breaks free, spin kicking Delirious and trying to lift him up into the rack position, but Delirious slides off and headbutts him and reaches under his legs... CHEMICAL IMBALANCE II! DRAGON GOT CRUNCHED!
Whitmer has rolled out of the ring, so the referee counts for Delirious, but Akuma is in and breaks up the pin attempt with a kick to Delirious' spine! Akuma lifts up Delirious and hooks him in, looking for a Falcon's Arrow, but Delirious stops that with a knee to Akuma's face on the way up. Delirious kicks him in the gut and pulls him in... he's looking for the Praying Mantis Bomb, but Akuma is kicking his legs and blocking. Akuma escapes and knees Delirious to the gut, running off of the ropes and jumping... he has him caught... YOSHI TONIC! Dragon is out of the ring now, so the referee counts, but NO! Whitmer has slingshotted himself back in and twists, sending a Front Dropkick right to the face of Akuma to send him rolling backwards!
Dragon is crawling back in now, as Whitmer lifts up Akuma and gets him into position, tossing him down hard with the WRIST CLUTCH EXPLODER SUPLEX! These fans are going nuts, as all of the big guns are coming out! Dragon rushes and catches Whitmer with a Spinning Wheel Kick, putting him down in the corner. He then goes over to Delirious, who is on all fours, and kicks in the head with a soccer kick before locking up his legs and sending him head first into the mat, HARD, with a Curb Stomp! Whitmer is back up now, and Dragon motions for him to bring it on. Whitmer rushes him and grabs him, but Dragon puts him back against the ropes and pummels him with knees, but Whitmer switches it and begins to send Machine Gun Chops in the chest of Dragon, before unleashing a Spinning Back Chop to his neck!
BJ grabs Dragon and hoists him up, and he seems to be going for the Adrenaline Spike, but Dragon is kicking his legs, not wanting to go into position, before sliding off of the back. Dragon grabs BJ's arm now and hoists him up, trying to execute his Psycho Driver III, but Whitmer slides off and pulls him in... REVERSE STO! Whitmer rolls through and he's got it on... PERUVIAN NECKTIE Is Dragon going to tap!?
NO! Gran Akuma off the top with a Frog Splash! He has saved the match for his team!
"THIS IS AWESOME! *clap, clap, clap clap clap*" rings through the arena here in Dearborn, as these fans see something truly amazing here.
Delirious is back up and he and Akuma are now trading blows back and forth, before Akuma catches him with a Roundhouse Kick to the head. Delirious is doubled over and Akuma grabs under, trying to pull him up with the Double Pumphandle into a Tenchi Crash variation, but Delirious flips through and lands on his feet, sending a mule kick backwards into Akuma's gut, before grabbing him up... BIZARRO DRIVER! Delirious then goes to Super Dragon, who is getting up, and pulls him in, trying for his Praying Mantis Bomb again, but Dragon flips him backwards over the ropes. Delirious lands on his feet and ducks down, sending a shoulder into Dragon's gut before leaping over and going for a Sunset Flip, but Dragon rolls through and is up to his feet, where he leaps and Double Stomps Delirious right to the face, crushing his skull again!
Whitmer is back up, however, and runs, blasting Dragon with a hard Front Elbow Strike that sends him into the corner. Whitmer pulls him out into Powerbomb position and lifts him up, POWERBOMBING DRAGON INTO THE TURNBUCKLES! Whitmer then lifts Delirious up and whips him over to the corner, where he delivers a CRAZY Panic Attack Knee Strike!
THIS IS WHY YOU COME TO THE LIVE SHOW, PEOPLE!
Akuma is back up, and he manages to grab Whitmer from behind and hit a Lungblower, which sends Whitmer to the mat, hurting bad. Delirious grabs Akuma, however, and locks him into a Cobra Clutch... Akuma tries to fight it... but he gets sent over with a Cobra Clutch Suplex! Akuma lands on his head, which is brutal, but pops right up, CLINCHING HIS FISTS AND SCREAMING! Delirious scream back at him, and these two begin blasting each other in the face with elbow strikes. Delirious tries for a Roundhouse Kick to Akuma's head, but Akuma blocks and spins him, grabbing underneath and lifting him... TENCHI CRASH!
Delirious is holding his gut, as Akuma gets up and tries to hold off Whitmer. Dragon has grabbed Delirious now and lifts him up into the rack position... and he's down... PSYCHO DRIVER! Whitmer manages to send Akuma to the outside and breaks up the pin attempt, diving for dear life for the save!
Delirious, Dragon, and Whitmer are down on the mat, as the fans cheer them on, and Akuma is on a knee on the outside, looking dazed and hurt. All three men reach their feet, as Akuma gets to the apron. Delirious dives like a man possessed, catching Akuma coming in with a Spear Like Headbutt, sending him to the floor with what looked to be a knock out blow. Dragon ducks a wild chop attempt from Whitmer, catching his arms from behind and lifting him up. Delirious is dazed, still, after head butting Akuma, but sees what is happening...
BARRY WHITE DRIVER! BARRY... WHITE... DRIVER!!!
These fans are about to explode, as Dragon tries to pin, but Delirious, in a blaze of glory, dives, grabbing Dragon's back as he attempts to cover and rolls him... he locks on his COBRA CLUTCH STRETCH! COBRA CLUTCH STRETCH!
Dragon has nothing left in his tank... he taps out.
Whitmer and Delirious win!!!
"MATCH OF THE YEAR! MATCH OF THE YEAR!"
After the match, Whitmer and Delirious celebrate, both physically brutalized. Akuma and Dragon regroup. Whitmer and Delirious look around at the cheering fans, offering a handshake to their adversaries for the evening after an all out war. Akuma and Dragon, though, look at each other... before FLIPPING WHITMER AND DELIRIOUS OFF! Oh man, that is harsh! These guys, to use school yard terms, are nothing but sore losers! The fans boo them as they leave, but nobody can believe the action they just saw there.
Only in NWA Great Lakes! And that wasn't even the main event!
MATCH EIGHT
10-Man Elimination Match for a Spot it the World Heavyweight Title Match at Great American Bash
"The Anarchist" Arik Cannon vs. The Contract Killer" Rocky Romero vs. "Infamous" Bobby Fish |O|vs. Anthony Nese vs. "Classic" Colt Cabana vs. AR Fox vs. Ricochet vs. Jimmy Jacobs vs. "The Man That Gravity Forgot" PAC vs. Teddy Hart
Well, forgive me for being a little burned out here after that match. Let me just saw, this match required two men be in the ring at one time, and no more than that. This was an elimination match, and you could only be eliminated by pinfall or submission, none of that disqualification shit or count-outs. We don't roll like that.
Cannon was the first guy to get eliminated by a man he faced last week in a tag team match, also involving Curt Hawkins and Sami Callihan, a man by the name of Anthony Nese. Nese would put Cannon out of commission wih a very nice and precise 450 Splash, earning him a three count. The next fall would be awarded to PAC, after he put down AR Fox in a heated exchange with a Corkscrew Shooting Star Press. PAC would then go on to eliminate Teddy Hart after a fast paced showing by both men, delivering an Imploding 450 Splash to wow the crowd once again! Cabana would be the man to eliminate PAC, however, grounding the British stand-out with his own brand of British wrestling, tying him up in an Inverted Cloverleaf to get the submission. Next to be eliminated would be Anthony Nese by Ricochet, after Ricochet managed to hit the absolutely astonising Double Rotation Moonsault to send everyone jumping off of their feet. After that pinfall, PAC would come back down the ramp and get on the apron, causing Ricochet to get distracted... what is it with this guy messing with Ricochet? Ricochet would turn around as PAC was leaving and catch a huge Spinning Kick from Fish to the head, and that'd be enough to knock him out cold for the three count. Jimmy Jacobs, who had tried to avoid getting involved, trying to be an opportunist and wait for the last moment, was brought in and each man left took turns beating on him. Jacobs would show that heart he's notorious for, withstanding so much punishment, until he finally got knocked out by a brutal Buzzsaw-esque kick from Rocky Romero, which sent him to the floor to be checked on by doctors, who feared he suffered a concussion. Colt Cabana would be the next to be eliminated, as Romero and Fish tagged in and out against him, refusing to give him a break, until Fish finally nailed him with his Fishhook Flying Knee to knock him unconscious and get the three count. From there, Romero and Fish went to war, their styles very complimentary, but Fish is quite a bit bigger than Romero and tried to make that count, but Romero is so fast and talented, it was very hard for him. Both men have had many, many tours of Japan, and can withstand so much punishment, but in the end, Fish would escape a Diablo Armbar attempt by slamming Romero multiple times on the back of his head, before running off of the ropes and delivering a sort of punt kick, and then finishing Romero off with a tight Crippler Crossface in the center of the ring. Romero could not move Fish's body weight, being undersized and generally exhausted, at this point, and had to tap out.
Shane Douglas comes to the ring and presents a pen and a contract to Bobby Fish... Fish is headed to the Great American Bash to compete for the NWA World Heavyweight championship, a match he damn well earned tonight!
