Usually the show opens with "The Voice of the East Coast" Joey Styles and "Lord" William Regal introducing the card, but tonight instead NWA President and NWA East Coast owner Dustin Smith is in the ring with a microphone.
Dustin: If you've been watching the internet rumor mills, there has been a bit of shuffling going on here in NWA East Coast. That combined with the announcement last week that Jon Moxley will drop the NWA East Coast title in exchange for a shot at Alberto del Rio at Fall Brawl, it leads me to make the decision that at our next iPPV "Raising the Bar" it will be a one night tournament with the winner becoming the new NWA East Coast champion!
This draws out former NWA World Heavyweight champion, CM Punk who looks extremely irrate.
CM Punk: This is an outrage! I am the former NWA World Heavyweight champion, and instead of being an automatic contender I have to fight my way to the top against guys that are just coming into the promotion? Where's the respect that a former NWA World Champion, a three time NWA World Heavyweight champion no less, where's my respect? I thought we were on the same page Smith?
Dustin: Punk I've got a promotion and an alliance to run, when you were the World Heavyweight champion it was in my best interest to work with you. Now you're not the champion anymore and now I've got business to take care of and that's crowning a new NWA East Coast champion, and I'm glad you're out here Punk because your match happens NOW!
Punk starts to make his way towards Smith, but turns as...
Punk looks shocked as the Embassy comes towards the ring; Prince Nana, Shane Hagadorn, Uhaa Nation & Ernesto Osiris! UHAA Nation looked ready for war as he attacked Punk, throwing the former champ into the ring as the first match got underway.
Joey Styles talked up the fact that UHAA Nation has never been beaten in NWA East Coast. UHAA Nation takes the former champ around the ring man handling him, Nation is a physical specimen and Punk looked off his game since he had no time to mentally prepare for this match up. Punk was able to score with some kicks and got some momentum going on his side but the Embassy would get involved, Joey Styles noted that Punk's staff weren't at the building yet tonight since Punk didn't think in a million years he'd be in the opening match. Punk looked to be introuble but that was until Brandon Bonham came out from the back with a chair, he left the Embassy last week and now he's looking for a fight as he chased everyone away leaving it just Nation and Punk, Nation took his eyes off of Punk as he had words with Bonham on the outside, this allowed Punk to score with a kick to the head of Nation. It was just a G2S and three seconds later and Punk became the first man to beat UHAA Nation! Winner: CM Punk
This was a back and forth match up with Lethal controlling most of it, with Gregory Iron showing flashes of brilliance but Lethal's experience helped carry him for the majority of the match. Gregory tried to pull the same trick last week complaining about a pain in his arm but Lethal wasn't fooled and nearly took Gregory's head off with a beautiful dropkick, but only got a two count. Lethal looked to hit the Lethal Injection but Gregory would pull the ref in the way, knocking the ref down! Lethal tried to help the ref up and apologize but ended up getting low blowed by Iron who would follow with the flatliner, the ref finally gor his bearings to count the pin. Winner: Gregory Iron
After the match Iron got on a mic.
Gregory: Last week I showed my physical toughness, this week I've shown my mental toughness! Last week I told you fans not to applaud me because I don't need your sympathy or pity cheers, I plan on going all the way and winning the NWA East Coast championship not for you people but in spite of you people!
These two men couldn't have more diffrent styles but the match was amazing as James Storm brought a smash mouth style against Brian Cage-Taylors hybrid style. Cage was pulling off moves that most men his size shouldn't be able to do and made it look effortless as he threw innovative and exciting moves at Storm who looked bewildered by what he was facing. Storm had to take a breather on the outside and Cage tried to follow but Storm was able to catch Taylor and hang him on the security rail! James Storm was able to use his brawling style to mount a comeback, the Cowboy's not as flashy but he was doing what he needed to get the job done. Brian tried to set up a potential finish but ended up eating a superkick from Storm giving the Cowboy the advance to "Raising the Bar"! After the match the fans showed both men respect with a standing ovation! Winner: James Storm
If you thought for a second that Bonham would be in the clear after leading UHAA Nation to his first loss in NWA East Coast you're sadly mistaken. UHAA Nation was on him as soon as he came out from behind the curtain while Aries stood in the ring smiling knowing he had an easy night ahead of him. Bonham took a hellish beating from Nation who eventually rolled him into the ring for Aries. The ref wanted to call the match but Bonham's got heart and tried to fight but he was to banged up to use his aerial skills and ended up taking a brainbuster from Aries. Winner: Austin Aries
UHAA Nation tried to get his hands on Bonham to punish him further but security dived in to make the save. This resulted in Dustin Smith coming back out.
Dustin: This has gone far enough, at "Raising the Bar" it's going to be Brandon Bonham vs. UHAA Nation!
This match was so technically sound as both men showed that NWA East Coast is where you can come see some incredible wrestling ability, it was back and forth with counters. It was a human game of chess as these two would constantly counter one another with Danielson trying to slap on a submission to end it over and over but just couldn't get it as Williams would wiggle out or work into a rope break! Danielson eventually started throwing kicks chops and elbows at Williams stunning the UK native eventually slapping on a crossface chickenwing in the middle of the ring forcing the submission as "That was Awesome!" chants erupt from the crowd.
We cut backstage to see the lovely AJ Lee who has something important to say.
AJ Lee: A lot of people think that I'm going to ask Sara del Rey to be the final member of my team, but sheeee'ssss not! Meet the final member of TEAM AJ!!
AJ grins wide as Awesome Kong comes into the scene snarling and looking menacing as AJ laughs.
These two guys are huge and it was a very brutal fight, Terry isn't as polished as Lesnar but he had a strength advantage but ended up getting put into an armbar, Terry tried to fight out of it but was eventually forced to submit to Lesnar! Winner: Brock Lesnar
This was a nice match up with Monty Brown showing off his pure power, but Orton has a lot of resolve and refused to be beaten. The NWA East Coast fans were treated to a great match by two guys who haven't been in an East Coast ring before, but were showing that they deserved to be there. Monty went for a pounce but Orton was able to snap off the RKO which he can seemingly can do at just about any time and it was enough to put the Alpha Male down! Winner: Randy Orton
London looked to reclaim some glory since losing the NWA East Coast X championship, now he's looking to become the NWA East Coast champion. Chris Hero is a dangerous man who's not to be taken lightly but that's exactly how London took him. London is talented and he knows it, which would just infuriate Hero. London ended up eating a roaring elbow that dimmed his lights but Hero wasn't able to get the win from it. The match continued and London tried for the awful waffle but Hero would escape and force London to eat another violent roaring elbow this time it was enough. Winner: Chris Hero
