Yes I know, interference is rife on this show, but it was needed so hopefully is justifiable. Any feedback will be appreciated as always.
NEXT 4: Hatred
Johnny Gargano and the rest of The Revolution make their way out to the ring to a mixed reaction from the fans, that reaction caused by their brutal assault on former Revolution member Jack Swagger last week following his loss to Alberto Del Rio. Gargano has something to say. It should also be noted that Jack Swagger isn't here tonight.
Gargano: Now I know some of you fans are upset with what we did last week to Jack Swagger, but the truth is, we needed to do this. Jack has disappointed me in recent times, yes he may have won the Tag Scramble Cup, but he couldn't get it done in the World Title match and has caused tension between us. You may not like it, but Jack no longer fits the mold of The Revolution, and we will be stronger without him. As we will prove tonight when I retain my NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title, Chuck takes care of business against the biggest asshole in wrestling Kyle Matthews, and Adam and Kyle will begin their second reign as NWA World Tag Team Champions by defeating The Rockstars of Wrestling!
Before Gargano can say anything else, Kyle Matthews makes his way out onto the ramp.
Matthews: You know Gargano, its getting more and more difficult for anyone to like you the more time passes. Firstly, you steal my spotlight week after week in Hybrid Pro, all because you were in the pocket of the boss upstairs. Then you completely and utterly unprovoked assaulted your own Revolution team mate Jack Swagger when all he was trying to do was win you a World title. If anyone is the biggest asshole in wrestling Johnny, its you!
Gargano: Matthews, aren't you the one who's been brutally assaulting wrestlers unprovoked for months now. A man who tries to end the career of another for no reason has no right to criticise another.
Matthews: You mean defeating everyone in my path on my way to legendary status. Hey Chuck, how's that arm of yours?
The Revolution have to hold Taylor back from running out and assaulting Matthews there and then.
Matthews: Maybe you don't agree with my methods Gargano, but they work, and my name is the name on everyone's lips at the moment. Nobody cares about you and your little "Junior" belt, the only thing they care about is me and my stunning rise to the top, which will be capped off by me winning that NWA World Heavyweight Title from the Mexican jumping bean Alberto Del Rio!
Gargano: You talk a big talk Matthews, but still you won't step in the ring with me. I've been calling you out for months, and you've never accepted my challenge, because your a coward. So how about we finally do this next week Kyle, you and me one on one, and I'll even sweeten the deal by putting the NWA World Junior Heavyweight belt on the line.
Matthews: I don't want your little "Junior" belt Gargano, I'm a Heavyweight, and thats the only belt I care about. But I do accept your challenge, because when I beat the so called unstoppable World Junior Heavyweight Champion clean in the middle of the ring, not only will the powers that be have to accept that I' m the headliner of NEXT, they will have to accept that I'm a legitimate World Heavyweight Title contender!
What a match this is going to be, finally we get something we've wanted to see for months, Kyle Matthews and Johnny Gargano one on one. Who will win? We will find out next week.
Trent Barreta and Mike Sydal opened the show with a high flying showcase, with both men looking great in there. This one took a turn for the worse however when Zema Ion, who is now a full time member of the NEXT roster, interfered, distracting Sydal which allowed Barreta to hit the Gobstopper and win this one.
Zema Ion said post match that he would make Sydal's life a living hell after he embarrassed him last week, and challenged him to a rematch next week where he can embarrass him like the amateur he is!
Second on the show was what turned out to be a fairly one sided affair, as Damien Sandow and Bo Dallas wrestled one on one. Sandow made fairly quick work of Dallas, controlling the majority of the match before winning in a little under 5 minutes with the Terminus.
Sandow the got the microphone.
Sandow: Ignorant sheep and other forms of livestock of New Jersey, what you just witnessed was a masterpiece of wrestling perfection, something that only a real American such as myself could perform. Indeed there is not a single wrestler from another country who could do such a thing, especially not someone from Japan like Katsuhiko Nakajima. Not only did I defeat that worthless individual last week with more ease than I dispatched this weeks waste of space, I embarrassed him. He is wrestling Ricochet later in the show, and trust me, I will take great pleasure in watching him be defeated by a former World Junior Heavyweight Champion and an American. Your welcome!
Curt Hawkins and Zach Sabre Jr was the next match on our show, and it was an entertaining little matchup, with Hawkins trying to ground his faster opponent Sabre Jr. The Family (Bray Wyatt and La Sombra) made their way to the ring, and as Sombra distracted the ref Wyatt hat a big Splash Mountain on Sabre Jr, which in turn allowed Hawkins to cover Sabre Jr to get the win.
Wyatt then announced that Hawkins was the latest addition to his "family", and that they had big plans for NEXT. What will The Family do next?
Two new teams faced off in a high flying style tag team matchup, as [/b]Kenny Omega[/b] teamed with Kota Ibushi, a man who he has wrestled many times in the past, to take on Samuray Del Sol and AR Fox. It was certainly a very fun match between these teams, with Omega and Ibushi having more fluidity as a team thanks to their experience together in the past, they have even teamed once or twice before. Del Sol and Fox however had luck on their side, and matched their experienced opponents in the aerial department with ease. Del Sol went for a charging Samuray Kick in the corner on Ibushi, but missed, smacked the turnbuckle and landed on his neck, appearing to injure himself. Ibushi however showed no mercy, forcing Del Sol to the canvas against the referee's advice and hitting him with a big Golden Star Bomb to finally get a pinfall win over Del Sol.
Ibushi certainly showed he's willing to do whatever it takes to win, but Del Sol looks to be in a bad way and it was questionable to do what he did. Ibushi and Omega even argued over this, but Ibushi showed he's a sportsman by helping Del Sol to the back. The question is though, will Del Sol takes offence to being attacked when potentially seriously hurt?
We now had another battle of junior heavyweights as [/b]Katsuhiko Nakajima[/b] battled with Ricochet, the former World Junior Heavyweight Champion. Ricochet certainly took no shortage of risks, flying around the ring with crispness, while Nakajima looked to kick him out of his boots and ground him. This one was building nicely, when Damien Sandow came out to observe, which distracted Nakajima somewhat. he then ran down to get involved, grabbing Nakajima for a charge by Ricochet. Nakajima escaped however and Ricochet happily kicked Sandow's face off. This however allowed Nakajima to grab Ricochet and drop him with a German Suplex to get the 3 count.
Post match Sandow was not happy. He got into the ring, grabbed Ricochet and dropped him with the Terminus, before posing for the fans who booed.
Next up, Harry Smith and Luke Gallows wrestled in a battle of two of the bigger, hard hitting wrestlers on the roster. There was not a lot of technical wrestling here, instead it was all about who could hit the biggest strikes and who could slam each other the hardest, which was certainly a change from everything else that's been on the card so far tonight. But it was to take a twist when The Family ran out and attacked Smith, causing a DQ which meant a win for Smith.
It was then revealed that Gallows was the 4th and final member of The Family, and that The Family were ready to make everything in NEXT theirs. They certainly look hard to beat based on this, the question is who will stand up to them?
The Motor City Machine Guns again looked to earn a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles by taking on The Token Black Team. And this was as good a tag match as you will see, as the MCMG showed that technical skill of theirs as well as the fluid double teams that have made them one of the NWA premier tag teams. The Token Black Team showed a lot here though, coming back with some impressive high flying and double teams of their own. The MCMG hat the Made in Detroit on ACH, but he somehow got his foot on the ropes, much to the annoyance of them. They went for the ASCS Rush on ACH, but Swann flew in and took Shelley down with a Swannaca-rana, then ACH nailed a Crane Kick on Sabin followed by the Best 450 Ever to pin him and get the biggest win of his career to date!
Next week The Token Black Team face the winners of the World Tag Team Title match later on tonight! Meanwhile The Motor City Machine Guns are not having a lot of luck at the moment, they are yet to win in NEXT and need to up their game.
It was time for one of the biggest matches on the show as "The Most Hybrid Athlete in the NWA" Kyle Matthews faced off with Chuck Taylor in a grudge match from Hybrid Pro. Taylor came fighting right out of the blocks, going after Matthews' right arm and trying to rip it out of its socket with submissions, with Matthews having to hit and run to escape his enraged opponent. Taylor showed real aggression and fire here, and he had every right to with the hatred he had for Matthews, but Matthews didn't let it phase him, slowly but surely picking apart Taylor's arm, the very one he injured a few months ago. Taylor out of nowhere got the Awful Waffle, but his arm was too hurt to make the cover straight away and Matthews was able to kick out at the last second. Matthews then hat a vicious series of blows to Taylor's arm, before locking in the Hidaka Lock. The fans begged for Taylor to escape, but he couldn't hold on and had to tap out.
Matthews refused to let go of the hold post match, trying to once again injure that arm of Taylor. Richie Steamboat ran out to make the save, closely followed by Johnny Gargano, as Matthews ran out of the ring. However the damage had already been done as Taylor looks to have suffered another arm injury thanks to Matthews.
Taylor makes it to his feet and Gargano and Steamboat look to help Taylor to the back, however Gargano objects to Steamboat's help, saying he's not a Revolution member. Steamboat takes offence and the two get into a shoving match, before Gargano and Taylor leave Steamboat in the ring. What was that all about? Chuck Taylor and Richie Steamboat will wrestle next week as a result of this, with Steamboat getting s future shot at the Junior Heavyweight Title if he wins.
The Rockstars of Wrestling made their NEXT debut, putting the NWA World Tag Team Titles on the line against the first ever champions, The Revolution. The former champions looked the most focused and ruthless they have in a long time, with Cole utterly putting himself on the line to take Rave and Hades down, while O'Reilly threw some very vicious kicks and locked the champs in some nasty submissions working on the ankles. Rave and Hades used their ring smarts to keep in the contest, showing what has made them champions for so long. The Revolution continued to show that ruthlessness, which may very well be the destructive impact that Johnny Gargano talked about. The champs ended up running for the hills, taking a countout loss in order to save their titles much to the distain of the fans.
Johnny Gargano had a real tough test when he put his NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title on the line against Tyler Black, who defeated Kenny Omega last week to earn this shot at the champion. Black was arguably Gargano's toughest test to date, as Black is an accomplished and experienced young talent who was more than capable of matching Gargano in every capacity. The two were even on the mat from bell to bell, and Black even had a bit of an aerial advantage. Gargano was as ring smart as ever though, he pushed the rules a bit here which got the fans on his case, but he did what he had to do to get the advantage. Black came close on several occasions towards the end to winning that belt, even nailing God's Last Gift that Gargano only escaped with a rope break. Gargano avoided a Phoenix Splash from Black, and nailed the Hurts Donut, that got him the 3 count!
Alberto Del Rio and Drew McIntyre for the NWA World Heavyweight Title was our main event, under no disqualification rules, and oh boy, it was a wild and brutal matchup. Del Rio worked the arm as he likes to do, only with the addition that he could put any amount of weapons he liked to use, including the chair he'd used to cave in McIntyre's skull 2 weeks ago. McIntyre had a fire lit under him again though, showing Roddy Piper esque brawling skill with the punches he was throwing and the fire he showed. McIntyre came damn close to getting that belt, hitting a Future Shock onto a steel chair that got a 2.999 count. McIntyre missed a big chair shot, only for Del Rio to kick him in the balls. He then locked in the Cross Armbreaker, but McIntyre utterly refused to quit, he would not die! Del Rio grabbed the steel chair and smashed it over McIntyre's arm repeatedly, then locked his arm in the chair and put the Cross Armbreaker back on. McIntyre writhes in agony but still refuses to tap, but finally passes out from the pain!
Del Rio celebrates with his title and leaves in his limo, having certainly come through a major war here to keep his title. McIntyre got to his feet and everyone in attendance gave him a standing ovation. McIntyre raises his good arm to thank them as he leaves, bloodied and beaten, but having earned the respect of everyone in attendance. A new star has been born!
