NWA Entertainment Raw 22/12/2012
Welcome to the first ever episode of NWA Entertainment Raw. NWA Entertainment wants to bring old school, family friendly style sports entertainment back to the masses, and looks to begin that tonight.
On tonights show, 4 first round matches in the Raw Heavyweight Title tournament, The Naturals take on The Revolution to decide who will face The Briscoes for the World Tag Team Titles next week on Raw, plus much more including a World Junior Heavyweight Title defence by Johnny Gargano.
Here is the draw for tonights Heavyweight Title tournament matches-
Raw Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round
"Captain Charisma" Christian vs Ray Gordy
A fun opening match here, largely based on the mat since these two are mat specialists. Gordy showed plenty of aggression, dropping the fun loving Christian with a nasty Spinebuster and German Suplex. Christian managed to use the fans to bring him back into this one however, nailing the Killswitch to win this matchup.
Winner- Christian
"The Project" Tommaso Ciampa comes down to the ring. He challenges anyone in New Jersey to wrestle him one on one right here, right now. The challenge is answered by none other than New Jersey veteran Ace Darling, who gets a big pop from the fans.
Open Challenge
"The Project" Tommaso Ciampa vs Ace Darling
This was not the return the New Jersey fans were hoping for as far as their home town hero goes. He was largely dominated here by "The Project", getting comprehensively demolished by the power of Ciampa before being finished off with Project Ciampa.
Winner- Tommaso Ciampa
Raw Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round
Sheamus "Fella" vs Richie Steamboat
Sheamus has been missing in action for a few months now, his standing in the NWA having diminished considerably since he lost the World Heavyweight Title to CM Punk. Now he is looking to get back in the game again, and Richie Steamboat is his first challenge. Steamboat was the better mat wrestler of the two, but when it cam to power and indeed fighting, Sheamus had a definite advantage over his young foe. And Sheamus advanced when he yelled out "ITS FELLA TIME" and nailed the Brogue Kick to get the pinfall.
Winner- Sheamus "Fella"
Afterwards, Sheamus cut a promo.
Sheamus: Its great to be back wrestling again, as ya see fella, people have forgotten that I was the 1st NWA World Heavyweight Champion. I was the man who could overcome any odds, who could kick the arse of any foe and down a Guinness afterwards. Well those days are coming back fella, Sheamus is back and is ready to kick arse and drink Guinness, and I'm all out of Guinness!
Raw Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round
"The Party Starter" Curt Hawkins vs "The Kentucky Gentleman" Chuck Taylor
Here we had a battle of two of the finest young competitors on the Raw roster, both these men have a lot of potential to be stars in the NWA, and either of these two could go places with the right guidance. This ended up being a fast paced, and indeed exciting contest that wowed the fans in attendance. Hawkins ended up getting too cocky and overconfident, believing he had the match won before he actually did, and this came back to haunt him when he missed a Heat Seeking Elbow. One Awful Waffle from Taylor and this one was over.
Winner- Chuck Taylor
Taylor's celebration didn't last long, as Hawkins attacked from behind and dropped him with a Laugh Riot. This one isn't over.
Winners Face the NWA World Tag Team Champions Next Week on Raw
The Naturals (Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens) vs The Revolution ("The Panama City Playboy" Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly)
A battle of youth and experience, yet the less experienced team are the ones who have truly succeeded in the NWA, with The Naturals having been out of wrestling for quite some time. Both these teams have a real understanding as far as double teams go, and we saw those in spades here. Cole was on the receiving end of quite a beating from The Naturals, before making the tag to O'Reilly who destroyed both men with kicks. Cole dropped Douglas with the Corona Crash, before O'Reilly locked him in the Anklelock to make him tap.
Winners- The Revolution
Chris Sabin is in the ring, as Damien Sandow make his entrance. He has something to say to the fans.
Sandow: Filthy, uneducated individuals of New Jersey, once again I, your intellectual saviour, have come to educate you. You see, to win a professional wrestling match, you don't just have to know what you are up against, but you have to know how to defeat them. You have to know their strengths and also their weaknesses. And Chris Sabin, your weakness is so huge you just so happen to be standing on it. Its that leg of yours Sabin, its practically stuck to you with tape at this point. You see these fans are going to be hailing you tonight Sabin, but for an entirely different reason. They are going to be hailing the end of your career, your welcome!
Raw Heavyweight Title Tournament 1st Round
"The Future" Chris Sabin vs "The Intellectual Saviour of the Masses" Damien Sandow
Well you can't say Sandow isn't a man of his word, he went after the leg with ruthless aggression, with Sabin having to fight him off time and time again. Sabin's speed helped in that regard, he was able to move fast and take Sandow down with aerial moves, but it only worked for so long before the effects of Sandow's handiwork began to show. Sabin struggled to stand, and when he went for the Cradle Shock, he couldn't hold Sandow's weight on his leg. Sandow followed this up with he Terminus, and advanced.
Winner- Damien Sandow
Next week, Sheamus faces Christian and Chuck Taylor battles Damien Sandow in the Raw Heavyweight Title Tournament semi-finals.
NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title Match
"The Whole Shebang" Johnny Gargano vs "The Master of the Dark Hadou" Kenny Omega
What an opportunity this was for Omega, he battled the seemingly unstoppable Junior Heavyweight Champion Johnny Gargano here for the belt, and he pushed Gargano to his very limits. The two were even in almost every department, but when it came to aerial moves Omega had an advantage, while Gargano had a slight advantage on the mat. Omega hat both the Aoi Shoudou and the One-Winged Angel, but Gargano somehow kicked out both times. Omega then missed a 450 Splash, and that gave Gargano time to get up and nail the Hurts Donut, thus retaining his title.
Winner- Johnny Gargano
Gargano thanks the fans for coming, and says to make sure to watch Smackdown where he will be in action again. See you on Wednesday for Smackdown folks!
