NWA Entertainment Presents: The Royal Rumble Live on iPPV (26/01/13)[/u]
Hello and welcome to the return of another wrestling tradition, The Royal Rumble. In tonight's main event, 30 men from all across the NWA will compete for the chance to earn a shot at the Heavyweight title of their choice at the biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania!
But before we get to that, there's some other matches on the show to enjoy, so lets get straight to the action
Grudge Match
Ground and Pound (Harry Smith and Uhaa Nation) vs Poison (Cibernetico and Oscar Rubio)
These two teams fought on Raw, only for Sean Waltman to get involved, so both he and Drew McIntyre have been banned from ringside for this rematch. And it was another good match, with the power battle between Cibernetico and Ground and Pound being a lot of fun, while Rubio continued to show no characteristics of the old Rey Mysterio, staying entirely on the ground and cheating at every opportunity. Indeed it was Rubio who decided the outcome, blatantly kicking Nation in the balls in front of the referee to cause a DQ.
Winners- Ground and Pound by DQ
Rubio grabbed the ring bell and got ready to hit Nation with it, while Cibernetico grabbed Smith by the throat outside the ring. Rubio nails Nation with that bell, AND CIBERNETICO PUTS SMITH THROUGH THE ANNOUNCERS TABLE WITH THE GARRA CIBERNETICA! Poison have made a big impact on Ground and Pound, and there's no stopping them right now it seems.
Street Fight
"The War Machine" Brock Lesnar vs "The Viper" Randy Orton
What a war this match was, these two fought to a no contest on he final Smackdown a few weeks ago, and now they had a chance to settle the score. While Orton certainly showed he was no pushover, Lesnar proved just how big a force he is here by not just dishing out punishment, but taking it as well, he took some chair shots in this that would even make Mick Foley wince, and they barely phased him. Orton took a lot of punishment to though, including a German Suplex ONTO THE RING STEPS! Orton used those steps as well, elevating himself to him a massive RKO that got a very close near fall. Lesnar came back to win it though, hitting a massive Triple Powerbomb onto a chair, then dropping Orton with an F5 that shook the ring and got the 3 count.
Winner- Brock Lesnar
Winners Receive a Shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles
LAX ("The Notorious 187" Homicide and "Supermex" Hernandez) vs Money Inc (Ted Dibiase and Robert Roode)
Here we had two teams with really differing styles, as while LAX took a more brawling based approach and threw big punches, Money Inc took to the mat, and tried to outwrestle them. LAX had the advantage for much of the early part of this, but when Money Inc's gameplan began to work, Money Inc took control. Homicide was on the receiving end of much of the offense from Money Inc, until he rolled through and made the tag to Hernandez, who used his power to battle back. However it didn't last long, as they grabbed Homicide again and Roode nailed the Spear to pin him for 3.
Winners- Money Inc
As a result of this, tomorrow night on Monday Night Raw, Money Inc will challenge The Briscoes for the NWA World Tag Team Titles!
Before the Rumble begins, Damien Sandow, Johnny Gargano, The Briscoes and Alberto Del Rio are all shown watching in the front row at ringside. All three could potentially be challenged for their belts at Wrestlemania by the winner of the Royal Rumble!
The Royal Rumble!
Its time to see who drew unlucky number 1, and its none other than Bray Wyatt of The Family. He has an uphill battle if he's going to be the winner of this huge match. And number 2 is Prince Devitt of NWA Impact, who is also really going to struggle to win this match from this position. Wyatt and Devitt have a fun back and forth exchange for 2 minutes before the next entrant.
Number 3 is "The Technical Messiah" Alex Shelley, who gets right in there for some wrestling exchanges with Devitt, while Wyatt tries to stay out of trouble and watch.
Number 4 is El Generico, as the crowd sing "OLE" in unison for the arrival of the masked man. Wyatt and Shelley go at it, while Generico and Devitt battle one another.
Number 5 is "The Chosen One" Drew McIntyre, who comes in a house on fire, taking the fight to everybody, and eliminates Prince Devitt for the 1st elimination!
Number 6 is Sean Waltman, and McIntyre couldn't have wished for a better draw, he begs for Waltman to get in the ring as Waltman is reluctant. ONLY FOR WYATT TO ELIMINATE DREW MCINTYRE FROM BEHIND! McIntyre doesn't care as he chases Waltman up the ramp, and he is seemingly out of this to. HERE COMES KYLE MATTHEWS! Matthews is stealing Waltman's spot in the Rumble it seems, and is in there with Wyatt, Shelley and Generico.
Number 7 is "The Outlaw" Luke Gallows, and he instantly goes to the aid of his mentor Bray Wyatt, as they team up on Shelley, while Generico and Matthews fight.
Number 8 is the CPW Heavyweight Champion Cody Rhodes, and Rhodes makes an instant impact by eliminating Alex Shelley. Rhodes and The Family then team up to make Matthews and Generico's life hell until the next entrant arrives.
Number 9 is Jack Swagger, and he instantly comes to Kyle Matthews's aid, with him and Cody Rhodes fighting away, while Generico and Matthews form a temporary alliance against The Family.
Number 10 is our female entrant in the Rumble, Taya Valkyrie, and she isn't afraid to get in there with the men, fighting away with everyone in there to show JPP's females are as big a force in the NWA as her male counterparts. The ring is getting very crowded now with 7 in there.
Number 11 is "The Kentucky Gentleman" Chuck Taylor, and his target is his long time rival Kyle Matthews, though getting to him means going through Jack Swagger, no easy task. The Family then grab him and it looks like Taylor won't last long at this rate.
Number 12 is Kyle O'Reilly, and he comes to the aid of his Revolution team mate Taylor. AND LUKE GALLOWS IS ELIMINATED BY TARA VALKYRIE! For the 2nd year in a row Gallows is eliminated by a female! Wyatt begs off as The Revolution prepare to double team him, only for Matthews to eliminate Kyle O'Reilly from behind! Taylor and Wyatt battle as our next entrant arrives.
Number 13 is Tyler Black, and Black makes an instant impact by eliminating Tara Valkyrie! The participants left are Bray Wyatt, El Generico, Kyle Matthews, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Chuck Taylor and Tyler Black.
Number 14 is The Miz from CPW, and The Miz targets Cody Rhodes, trying to eliminate him to impress and get a shot at his title. EL GENERICO IS ELIMINATED! He charged off the ropes only for Wyatt to launch him over the top to the floor.
Number 15 is another CPW entrant, Rob Van Dam. RVD goes to the top and hits a big kick on Black, and takes the fight to him. The ring is still very crowded, and eliminations are not coming in a hurry.
Number 16 is Richie Steamboat of The Revolution, and Bray Wyatt is now in trouble again, as Steamboat and Taylor grab him. BRAY WYATT IS ELIMINATED! Meanwhile at the other side of the ring, Tyler Black is also eliminated, this time by Cody Rhodes who kicked him over the top with a variation of the Beautiful Disaster.
Number 17 is "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal. Lethal makes an instant impact by hitting Swagger with a big Double Axe handle from the top, then throwing RVD over the top to eliminate him.
Number 18 is Bully Ray of The Unholy Trinity, and he isn't afraid to battle the odds and take on The Revolution, more than holding his own with them. Jay Lethal is eliminated by The Miz, he hasn't lasted long!
Number 19 is Davey Richards of NWA Impact, as he joins the fray. The other wrestlers left are Kyle Matthews, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Chuck Taylor, The Miz, Richie Steamboat and Bully Ray.
Number 20 is Christopher Daniels, the 2nd member of The Unholy Trinity to enter, and The Revolution continue to battle back and forth with them. And Richie Steamboat can't last, he is eliminated!
Number 21 is Sheamus, and things are about to get intense. Sheamus makes his impact felt by eliminating The Miz with a Brogue Kick! He and Swagger then fight it out as entrant 22 arrives.
Number 22 is "The Olympic Gold Medallist" Kurt Angle, a definite wildcard pick to win this thing. Davey Richards is eliminated by Angle, and there's no shame in losing to an amazing talent like Angle. AND SHEAMUS ELIMINATES JACK SWAGGER! Eliminations are coming thick and fast now!
Number 23 is "The Natural" Dolph Ziggler, another favourite for the rumble. He is in there with Kyle Matthews, Cody Rhodes, Chuck Taylor, Bully Ray, Christopher Daniels, Sheamus and Kurt Angle.
Number 24 is "The Man Beast" Rhino, another CPW entrant, as he and Sheamus go straight at it with real intensity as they always do when they wrestle. The rumble is in a bit of a stalemate right now with nobody being eliminated.
Number 25 is "Captain Charisma" Christian, who wants to win this to take on Johnny Gargano again after the way Gargano defeated him on Raw. Still no movement on eliminations.
IF YOU SMELL, WHAT THE ROCK, IS COOKING! The crowd explode as number 26 is "The Peoples Champion" The Rock. And The Rock gets things moving, he takes the fight to everyone, and eliminates both Cody Rhodes and Christopher Daniels in less than 10 seconds. He and Kyle Matthews then have a big staredown, and the two start brawling, with Matthews determined to show he's on The Rock's level.
Number 27 is Adam Cole, who comes to the aid of his former Revolution team mate Chuck Taylor in a battle against Bully Ray which has been raging away on him for a while now. GORE BY RHINO TO SHEAMUS! He falls back, smashing into Christian, sending him over the top rope to the floor.
Number 28 is "The Wildcat" Kofi Kingston, and Kingston comes off the top onto The Rock, ONLY TO TAKE THE ROCK BOTTOM! Rock goes for The Peoples Elbow, ONLY FOR MATTHEWS TO PULL DOWN THE ROPES AND ELIMINATE THE ROCK! What a stunning elimination by Matthews, the crowd don't like it one bit but this could be his night!
Number 29 is Devon, and he makes an instant impact. He and Bully Ray hit the 3D on Adam Cole, and then eliminate him, as Taylor is in big trouble. He needs help in a big way, and based on who Number 30 is he's about to get it in a big way.
Thats because Number 30 is Kevin Steen! Steen rushes in and instantly eliminates Devon. He then throws himself at Bully Ray, TAKING BOTH OVER THE TOP! Kevin Steen is eliminated, but he's taken The Unholy Trinity with him. That means the Rumble winner will be either Kyle Matthews, Chuck Taylor, Sheamus, Kurt Angle, Dolph Ziggler, Rhino or Kofi Kingston!
The next to go is Kofi Kingston, who was easy pickings for Dolph Ziggler after that Rock Bottom by The Rock, getting tossed over the top.
He is then surprisingly followed by Sheamus, who was weakened considerably by the Gore from Rhino, and gets taken out by Kurt Angle.
Kurt Angle however is quick to follow, as RHINO NAILS THE GORE AGAIN! He tosses Angle over afterwards, eliminating him. The final 4 is Kyle Matthews, Chuck Taylor, Dolph Ziggler and Rhino.
These 4 have a really awesome few minutes of action, and it was impossible to call who was going to be gone first. And it looked to be Ziggler as Rhino tosses him over, only for Ziggler to skin the cat. Ziggler in mid move then grabs Rhino's head, and pulls him over the top to be eliminated.
This doesn't work out in Ziggler favour however, as Matthews charges and Clotheslines Dolph Ziggler over the top to eliminate him! Kyle Matthews and Chuck Taylor are the final two!
Matthews and Taylor have had such an intense rivalry over the past few months, with Matthews having been responsible for breaking Taylor's arm and effectively holding back his career. And Matthews tried to re-weaken that arm to eliminate Taylor, getting Taylor into such a position where he was hanging by his arms over the top rope, then kicking away at his arm. Taylor survived however and fought back, and for the first time tonight Matthews looks vulnerable. Out of nowhere, MATTHEWS NAILS THE SLURPE KICK, ONLY FOR TAYLOR TO NAIL THE BRODIE KNEE BEFORE HE WENT DOWN! Both men are down, and this really could go either way, I have no idea who's winning this. Matthews is back up first, and prepares for the Hidaka Lock, BUT TAYLOR GRABS MATTHEWS ON HIS SHOULDERS! HE DUMPS KYLE MATTHEWS OVER THE TOP, TAYLOR WINS, CHUCK TAYLOR IS GOING TO WRESTLEMANIA!
Winner- Chuck Taylor
What an upset, I don't think anyone would have picked Chuck Taylor to win this thing, but after so many maybes Chuck Taylor has finally broken out as a single star and gained the biggest win of his career. Now he has a chance to face any champion in the NWA at Wrestlemania, the question is who will he choose? Taylor may announce his choice on Raw tomorrow night, but tonight he celebrates alongside his Revolution team mates. See you tomorrow folks!
