NWA Entertainment Monday Night Raw 28/01/2013[/u]
Welcome to Monday Night Raw! Tonight's show is guest hosted by JBL of NWA South Beach, and it promises to be quite an eventful evening with all the fallout from the Royal Rumble!
"The Most Hybrid Athlete in the NWA" Kyle Matthews, along with Jack Swagger, make their way to the ring to a mixed reaction, some fans cheering Matthews in his pursuit of NWA World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio, while others are booing due to Matthews general bad attitude.
Matthews: Last night, once again I was screwed out of a title shot. I entered the Rumble last night to get some insurance, to have another shot at Alberto Del Rio if he slithers his way out of facing me at Year of the Snake, but thanks to a fluke Chuck Taylor somehow beat me. I demand justice, and I'm not leaving this ring until I get it!
JBL, Raw's guest host, then makes his way out to the ring.
JBL: Kyle, I like you, so here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to give you an opportunity right here tonight to prove you should have won the Rumble last night. Tonight you will wrestle Chuck Taylor one on one, and if you win you get the title shot in the main event of Wrestlemania!
Kyle looks a bit apprehensive, but pleased all the same. He and Jack leave as JBL looks to screw The Revolution's leader out of a title shot. But JBL isn't done.
JBL: Now after I make these announcements, nobody will be able to say I'm not just a wrestling god, but an innovator. You see, we have 1st round matches in the Tag Team Title tournament tonight, but to make things interesting we are going to have 2 teams with just 1 wrestler. My Unholy Trinity of Bully Ray and Devon will be in action against none other than Richie Steamboat! And The Family will be taking on that piece of trash loser Kevin Steen!
The fans boo, as JBL is out to end the careers of his enemies tonight, but he still isn't done.
JBL: I'm also going to insert the ace and fallen angel of the Unholy Trinity, Christopher Daniels, into the X-Division title tournament, where he will wrestle Kyle O'Reilly.
Here are the tournament brackets for the two sets of 1st round matches tonight-
The Unholy Trinity (Bully Ray and Devon) vs Richie Steamboat
Poison (Oscar Rubio and Sean Waltman) vs LAX (Homicide and Hernandez)
The Family (Bray Wyatt and Luke Gallows) vs Kevin Steen
Ground and Pound (Harry Smith and Uhaa Nation) vs Cibernetico and a mystery partner[/center][/b]
Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round Match
The Unholy Trinity (Bully Ray and Devon) vs Richie Steamboat
Before the match even begins, JBL comes out and states that any NWA Entertainment employee who interferes in tournament matches tonight will be fired! That effectively condemned Steamboat to defeat, as while he managed to put up a pretty decent fight for a while, against a team with this level of experience it was never going to be enough. One 3D later and Steamboat was out for the count.
Winners- The Unholy Trinity
Bully Ray and Devon then looked to finish the job, but Kevin Steen ran in for the save. The Family then ran out and attacked Steen, leading to their match going on earlier than planned.
Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
The Family (Bray Wyatt and Luke Gallows) vs Kevin Steen
This match wasn't quite the one sided affair the previous one was, as Steen had a gameplan, that being to hit every big move he could early and demolish both of his opponents. It worked for a while, but soon the numbers game caught up and Wyatt and Gallows started cleaning house on Steen. But things took an interesting turn when Super Dragon comes out of the crowd, and drops Gallows with a Psycho Driver! Steen then gets Wyatt and hits the Package Piledriver, winning this contest.
Winner- Kevin Steen
Appetite for Destruction celebrate, as JBL's plan has been ruined all thanks to Super Dragon. He didn't say anything about South Beach employees interfering, it was only NWA Entertainment employees who couldn't!
As Poison made their way to the ring, Drew McIntyre runs out and attacks Sean Waltman, who run up the ramp. Officials run out and grab McIntyre, holding him back as Waltman crotch chops at McIntyre. This rivalry is getting more heated every week.
Tag Team Title Tournament 1st Round
Poison (Oscar Rubio and Sean Waltman) vs LAX (Homicide and Hernandez)
Waltman has gone from having the crowd's respect to being amongst the most hated overnight, what on earth made him run off his path of redemption to join Poison. Either way, he was in full degenerate mode here, while Rubio continued to wrestle the slow, mat based style he's been using since he took off the Rey Mysterio mask a few weeks ago. LAX are a team on fire right now however, with Homicide cleaning house with his fists and Hernandez having utterly zero trouble tossing around two considerably smaller opponents. Indeed Hernandez was the man who got the win, picking up Rubio and dropping him with the Border Toss like he was nothing before pinning him with 1 foot.
Winners- LAX
Cibernetico makes his way out to the ring, where Ground and Pound are already waiting.
Cibernetico: NWA, little by little I poison you, and little by little your demise is assured. But while my Poisoners Oscar Rubio and Sean Waltman are strong men, they aren't massive men, and I need one to truly spread my poison all over the NWA. I have found such a man. Ladies and gentleman, please welcome the newest member of Poison.....BROCK LESNAR!
The crowd are stunned as "The War Machine" Brock Lesnar makes his way out to the ring. Cibernetico and Lesnar have been allies in the past in NWA Hybrid Pro, and that allegiance has been renewed tonight in NWA Entertainment! Ground and Pound may be in trouble.
Tag Team Title Tournament
Ground and Pound (Harry Smith and Uhaa Nation) vs Poison (Cibernetico and Brock Lesnar)
Ground and Pound are an awesome team, but even they struggled against two of the most massive, destructive forces the NWA has ever seen. Smith and Nation had to try and take a more mat based approach, working on the legs of Cibernetico to take the monster down to the mat. But when Lesnar was in there, there was little they could do, he was simply too much for them to handle, as he tossed the two around with ease and outwrestled them when they tried the ground based approach. And Lesnar got the decisive 3 count following an F5 on Nation.
Winners- Poison
This means that next week on Raw, The Unholy Trinity will take on LAX, while Appetite for Destruction will face Poison!
We head backstage to the office of NWA Commissioner Kevin Nash.
Nash: Now a few wrestlers have come back here tonight and said "hey big daddy cool, why am I not booked?" or "book me in a match before I tear your quad". And I think thats a bit mean, which is why I'm using my authority to book a pre main event Battle Royal for everybody not booked tonight. The winner of this battle royal will take on the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio next week on Monday Night Raw!
Big announcement by the commissioner there, I can't wait to see the battle royal later on tonight!
X-Division Title Tournament
Alex Shelley vs "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal
This was a really fun, albeit short matchup, with both men having an equal amount of offence, and Lethal proving he could keep up with one of the top mat wrestlers in the world in Shelley on the canvas. Shelley however used the Border City Stretch to make Lethal tap and advance.
Winner- Alex Shelley
X-Division Title Tournament
Tyler Black vs "The Natural" Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler again came out with his full length mirror, and admire his reflection throughout the match. Ziggler's self-made distraction gave Black a distinct advantage, allowing him to more than match Ziggler and take him down with high flying moves. Ziggler got his act together near the end, ground Black with some nice mat wrestling manoeuvres, before locking in a Sleeper Hold that Black was unable to escape, he passed out in the hold.
Winner- Dolph Ziggler
X-Division Title Tournament
"Captain Charisma" Christian vs Kofi Kingston
Christian and Kingston have not been in the ring together very often in the past, in fact this may even be a 1st time encounter in the NWA. And it was a good one, arguably the pick of the 1st round matches as Christian's mat based style meshed well with the entertaining high flying style of Kingston. But things took a dramatic turn when Johnny Gargano ran out with a chair, which the referee then grabbed. As the referee got rid of the chair, Gargano took off his Junior Heavyweight Title and smacked Christian with it, allowing Kingston to hit the Boom Drop and pin Christian for the 3 count.
Winner- Kofi Kingston
Kingston advances in controversial circumstances, but what is Gargano's problem with Christian? This one needs to be explained.
X-Division Title Tournament
Kyle O'Reilly vs "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels
Two heated rivals collided here, as we had the Unholy Trinity and The Revolution colliding for the 2nd time tonight. And unlike the previous match it was a fair fight this time around, with O'Reilly and Daniels putting on a clinic of mat wrestling for the fans. But with the South Beach contingent never far away, Bully Ray and Devon came down, as Ray shouted at the ref and Devon found a chair he was ready to use on O'Reilly. Daniels went for a Clothesline on O'Reilly, only to miss and hit Bully Ray instead, sending him off the apron and crashing into Devon and the chair. O'Reilly quickly turned this into the Anklelock and made Daniels tap in a huge upset!
Winner- Kyle O'Reilly
O'Reilly got out of there quickly, as The Revolution have gotten one up on The Unholy Trinity after their action earlier in the evening.
Next week we will see Alex Shelley take on Dolph Ziggler, while Kofi Kingston faces Kyle O'Reilly!
NWA Tag Team Title Match
The Briscoes (Jay and Mark Briscoe) vs Money Inc (Robert Roode and Ted Dibiase)
A really fun title match here, as The Briscoes had a very even match in Money Inc, who's luck has been picking up recently after a series of wins. And they looked to have momentum on their side as they took the fight to The Briscoes, grounding them much like they did to LAX at The Royal Rumble and wearing them down with submissions. However it only worked for so long, as The Briscoes fought back, using some submissions of their own and taking to the air with some high risk moves. They managed to successfully retain their titles following the Spike Jay Driller on Roode.
Winners- The Briscoes
Battle Royal, Winner Gets an NWA World Heavyweight Title Shot Next Week on Raw
Damien Sandow, Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger, Johnny Gargano, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Super Dragon, The Rock
Yes, both the NWA Entertainment Heavyweight Champion and The World Junior Heavyweight Champion competed in this match even though they already hold gold, because everyone wants the big prize, the NWA World Heavyweight Title! And this was a very competitive battle royal, with nobody wanting to lose, and eliminations were difficult to make. But they went as follows-
Jack Swagger by Randy Orton via Clothesline over the top rope
Drew McIntyre by Sheamus after Sean Waltman leapt onto the apron and distracted McIntyre and Sheamus boots him over the top with a Brogue Kick
Super Dragon by Kurt Angle tossing him over the top when The Unholy Trinity distracted him from the ramp
Damien Sandow by Johnny Gargano after a Dropkick
Kurt Angle by The Rock via Clothesline
Randy Orton by Sheamus after a Brogue Kick
Sheamus by Johnny Gargano after a Low Blow followed by toss over the top
The final two are Johnny Gargano and The Rock. The heat for this is immense, the fans really want to see these two fight, and they exchange rights and lefts, neither man giving an inch. But Rock uses the spit hand punch, and Gargano goes down. Rock then pick him up in Samoan Drop position, and drops him over the top to win the match and the title shot!
Winner- The Rock
As The Rock celebrates, NWA World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio comes out and wants to talk to The Rock
Del Rio: Rocky, my good friend, you and me know each other well. We both walk the streets of Hollywood as millionaires. We both have fancy cars, fine wines, all the women we want and fame and fortune. But what I have that you don't Rock is a destiny, and my destiny is to be the greatest and longest running NWA World Heavyweight Champion ever. And Rocky, if you think you can stop me, you are very sadly mistaken!
Rock: So its your destiny to defeat The Rock next week, is that what you think?
Del Rio: Well....
Rock: IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK! Because next week The Rock is going to take that shiny ass suit of yours, rip it off and shove it right up your candy ass! Then in front of the millions (and millions) of The Rock's fans, he's going to hit the most electrifying move in sports and entertainment, The People's Elbow, pin you 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring and become the two time NWA World Heavyweight Champion. How about that or a destiny champ? IF YA SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING!
Well Alberto Del Rio just got destroyed by The Rock on the mic, the question is will Alberto Del Rio destroy The Rock next week, or will The Rock get his second NWA World Heavyweight Title reign?
Winners Gets The Wrestlemania Title Shot
"The Kentucky Gentleman" Chuck Taylor vs "The Most Hybrid Athlete in the NWA" Kyle Matthews
These two have been rivals for months, across multiple promotions, and last night at the Rumble Taylor got one up on Matthews for the 1st time, eliminating him to win the Rumble in an incredible upset. Matthews however knew Taylor's weaknesses better than anyone, after all he was the one who broke Taylor's arm a few months ago, and he targeted that same arm to setup for the Hidaka Lock. Taylor had a new level of confidence however, flying high from his Rumble win, and he hung on in there and fought back, proving he was on equal footing with arguably NWA Entertainment's biggest home grown star. Indeed Taylor almost had this won with the Awful Waffle, only for Christopher Daniels to run out and drop Taylor with the Angels Wings. Matthews went for the cover, but in an incredible and indeed shocking display of sportsmanship, Matthews gets up and refuses to win the match this way, flicking the bird at Daniels and saying he's going to do this his way. Daniels takes exception, runs back and grabs Matthews, only for Taylor to knock Daniels off the apron with a big boot to the face. This gives Matthews time to lock the Hidaka Lock! BUT TAYLOR GETS UP! He lifts Matthews up on his shoulders just like he did at the Rumble, and nails the Awful Waffle! 1-2-3, TAYLOR WINS AGAIN!
Winner- Chuck Taylor
It may have been helped by interference from Christopher Daniels, but Chuck Taylor has finally beaten Kyle Matthews in a one on one match, and finally has some retribution for all the pain and suffering he's been put through.
But the real shocker was to come. Kyle Matthews looked to leave, but then he came back to the ring, AND OFFERED HIS HAND TO TAYLOR! Taylor looks very apprehensive, but ACCEPTS! It seems these two have finally settled their score, but whats next for Kyle Matthews? Will he be able to defeat Alberto Del Rio for the big gold belt, or will he be another victim of Del Rio's hot streak? See you next week folks!
