Note: As I've stated before this is just a fun project for me, I watched a CZW TOD for the first time ever and the main event is a testament to that. It's a bit graphic but I had so much fun writing this show and fleshing out the characters, if you feel like reading it please enjoy.
The ritual fire crackles and pops as the shot pulls back showing The Shaman stareing into the fire. His eyes change to white as the visions of the Independent Union's future pass before his eyes.
Shaman: The Battle lines have been drawn and alliances have been forged, the mighty Claw has risen from the river of blood to claim his championship. While the cunning and skilled Ninja holds the most prestigious title in the entire Union. Tonight wills and thresholds will be put to the test as the Independent Union continues to blaze it's path...
The flames glow an eerie blue as they shoot up towards the sky, taking up the entire view of the camera as the show opens.
Last show the animalistic, Abispa came away with a hard fought victory over the enigmatic Unknown. This time however he would have to face a very different challenge, facing off with the elusive and unorthodox Kappa. Kappa is the lightest competitor in the Independent Union at a mere 160lbs. but he's also by far the fastest and most daring high flyer in the Union. Abipsa looked like a lion trying to take down it's prey but Kappa would use his speed and agility to keep himself from the clutches of Abispa. Kappa used the ropes to launch himself at Abispa but ended up getting caught and driven to the mat, where Abispa locked on the anaconda vice, but Kappa was able to wiggle to the ropes for a break. Anytime Abispa senses that his opponent could be injuried he attacks with a ruthless aggression, Kappa soon found himself in serious trouble when Abispa dazed him with a series of butterfly suplexes, before locking in the anaconda vice once more forcing Kappa to submit.
After the match Abispa paced the ring like a caged wolf, hovering around his fallen opponent before finally climbing out of the ring. Abispa would snap at a few fans at ringside making them jump back in fear before he finally skulked to the back.
Dragon King didn't have his head completely in this match, due to his childhood friend turned arch enemy attacked him without warning at the last show and could very well strike twice. Hannibal is a fan favorite and a sportsman shaking the hand of Dragon King before the match, but once the bell rang Hannibal only had victory on his mind. The match was back and forth with both men showing off their high risk arsenals. Dragon King wrestles a lot like his mentor, who shares a similar namesake. Hannibal on the other hand is an incredible but unpolished high flyer who crashed and burned as many times as he scored when it came to high risk offense. The competitive match soured a bit when Jaguar made his way to the ring, standing close to the apron watching the match unfold without a hint of emotion. Hannibal ended up missing big with a pheonix splash and Dragon King capitalized hitting a dragon suplex with a nice bridge to score the pinfall.
In a flash Jaguar slid into the ring and went nose to nose with Dragon King who had already spun around ready for an attack from Jaguar. The staredown between the former friends was intense until Jaguar slapped the hell out of Dragon King, before demanding that Dragon King hit him, going as far as telling DK that he could take a free shot. Dragon King tried to plead with Jaguar telling him that they could put this rivalary between their dojo's aside and form an incredible tag team but Jaguar wasn't having it. Dragon King tried to walk away and ended up getting blindsided by Jaguar who for the second show in a row left DK layed out in the middle of the ring after spiking him with the tiger driver '91.
Both of these men are coming off of tough losses from the last show, and a win by either would surely propel them closer to a shot at the Independent Crown. Overdose showed off a flurry of kicks that Shaolin would block with lightning speed, before planting his foot and hitting a huge heart punch on Overdose sending him skidding across the mat and against the ropes. Overdose looked stunned that Shaolin could hit with such force but soon shook it off going back to work against the silent warrior. The two men soon found themselves in a game of chess going counter for counter in some catch can action, Shaolin got the upper hand and Overdose scurried out of the ring to regain his composure. Shaolin wasn't through as he ran up to the top turnbuckle before flipping and crashing down on Overdose! Against anyone else this would have been a smart move but the outside of the ring is where Overdose is most comfortable using the steel railing around the ring to punish Shaolin, doing a number on his ribs. Overdose would whip Shaolin around the ringside area throwing chairs from ringside into the ring making it a hardcore playground of steel. Overdose would eventually drag Shaolin back in the ring, trying to use the pile of metal in the ring to put his opponent away. The crowd got excited as Shaolin got a second wind battling his way back into the match hitting Overdose with a huge DDT on a stack of chairs for a near fall. The crowd was buzzing for Shaolin but his comeback was put to an end when Overdose spewed his green mist into the face of Shaolin before snapping off a leaping roundhouse kick to end the match.
This match featured a couple of the very few gaijins in the Independent Union, Powder Keg is a sadistic fuck who enjoys putting people through hell. His brand of violence would get him kicked out of almost every promotion in the states but in japan he's able to ply his smash mouth style and be rewarded for it. Paladin on the other hand is a throwback to the 80's in the vein of Sting, Warrior or a Luger, a squeaky clean hero trying to purge the Union of it's overflowing filth. These two men couldn't be further on the spectrum and the match was filled with emotion. Powder Keg would take control of the match pretty early gouging the eyes of Paladin before clubbing him to a knee with wild punches. Keg would apply a nerve hold to the shoulder muscle of Paladin, peppering the hero with vicious headbutts while putting pressure on the nerve. Paladin would use the crowd to will himself back to his feet staggering his opponent with heavy hands before clothslining Powder Keg over the top rope, before letting out a primal roar. Powder Keg is a death match specialist and with the Union not having any real rules he would bring a sheet of wood wrapped with a lose coil of barbed wire into the ring making the fans gasp. Powder Keg tried to soften up Paladin for a trip into the wire, but Paladin was able to fight back once again and in a display of power, lifting and dropping Powder Keg onto the board with a huge bodyslam. The pain that etched itself on the face of Powder Keg showed how agonizing the barbs piercing his flesh felt. Keg would try to stand as the board came off the mat as the wire stuck to his clothing. Powder Keg feeds off of this enviroment and came back at Paladin again pummeling the fan favorite before hitting a belly to belly suplex, picking up the sheet of wood, suplexing it onto Paladin. Paladin jerked from the impact of the board trying to get the wire off of his bare skin, but Powder Keg would come off the ropes cannon balling onto the board driving it into Paladin who would bellow in agony. Powder Keg tried to get the victory but Paladin would kick out. The match continued with both men bleeding from the violent exchanges, Paladin would finally stoop to Keg's level as he brought a chair into the match wrapping it around Keg's head with a vicous and cringe inducing chairshot. Powder Keg didn't go down as he threw heavy hands with the chair wrapped around his neck. Throwing the crumpled chair to the mat, Keg drove Paladin onto the deformed chair with a pulling piledriver to come away from the bloodbath the victor.
Black Ninja being the champion of the Independent Union is fitting, he's the poster boy and embodiment of what the Union is all about. The otherside of the coin however is the motley crew on the other side of the ring, the Heretic is an egomaniac that is only out to pervert the spirit of this company to his own agenda. Heretic has his tag partner, the loose cannon Scourge in his corner, as well as the beautiful and deadly Black Widow. Ninja would show off his command of the air with tumble evasions and kip ups, giving the fans a great match to watch. Heretic would end up getting very frustrated as Ninja would dodge a lot of his offense, only to play to the fans or taunt Heretic with applause. Black Widow tried to get involved, but a duck from Ninja and a wild punch from Heretic would send her off the apron, sailing her into the metal railing. Scourge tried to get involved in the confusion but Ninja was able to telegraph and toss Scourge through the ropes and into Black Widow who was just regaining her composure only to crash into the railing a second time. Heretic didn't find the champions actions amusing spitting in Black Ninja's face, Heretic tried to hit a clothesline but Ninja would duck, but this time Heretic was ready hitting a roaring elbow to the back of Ninja's head. That was the turning point of the match as Heretic took control and would humiliate the champion trying to restore his bruised ego. Heretic would try for the Schwein but Ninja was able to wiggle around and ended up rolling Heretic up for a near fall, not letting up Ninja would hit a springboard side kick, running up the opposite ropes hitting a beautiful moonsault. The crowd counted the pinfall with the ref but Heretic was able to kick out at 2.999, keeping himself in contention. The match ended up tipping in his favor soon after, and Heretic would nail the schwein this time but only got a two count. Heretic was fuming at this point and his temper was his downfall, Black Ninja was able to soften up Heretic for a Shuriken bomb, folding him in half for the pinfall.
There can't be many things more intimidating than looking across the ring towards the 450lbs. Deathmatch champion, Claw. Specter looked ready for battle with taped fists, that he dipped in glue then coated in shards of broken glass. The bell sounded and Specter moved in showing off his MMA background, throwing punches and kicks to the thighs of the massive Claw. Blood would trickle from the spots that Specter made contact with his taipei gauntlets, but Claw would simply shove Specter to the mat, letting him get back up to take another shot at him. Claw would apply the submission hold that shares his name, squeezing the temples off his challenger who tried like a fly in a web to escape, Claw no sold every strike of desperation from Specter making the outlook for this match to go the distance bleak until Specter out of sheer desperation kicked Claw hard in the crotch, dropping even the mammoth in the mask. Specter would scurry out of the ring tossing a pouch into a corner before reaching under the ring and pulling out a pair of light tubes. Claw was just starting to get to his feet when Specter smashed the tubes against the sides of Claws head in a clapping motion, sending shards of glass and smoke through the air. Claw was still on a knee as Specter came off the ropes hitting a yakuza kick but he wasn't able to drop the giant any further. Specter looked to desperate as he spilled the contents from the pouch on the mat revealing glistening Kenzans putting one spikes down on the head of Claw, using a steel chair shot to drive the spikes through the mask of Claw. Specter has a look of horror on his face as Claw with the tenzan stuck in his head got back to a vertical base, his turn to inflict some punishment! Specter tried to take another shot at Claw with the chair but Claw would punch the chair into the face of Specter before picking him up and delivering a side slam onto the tenzans that remained on the mat forcing Specter to contort in pain. Claw would stand on the chest of Specter forcing the air out of his lungs with Claws sheer weight. Claw would call for a ring crew member to bring him something, that something is a bucket of salt that Claw would pour onto the wounds of Specter, making the MMA warrior shriek in pain. Claw is a creature from nightmares as he continued to punish his opponent, reminscent of a slasher flick silent killer. Specter didn't have much fight left as he was covered in blood and salt, trying to just survive the match as Claw decided to end it by grasping the temples of Specter again with his vicious claw hold, slamming Specter to the mat for the ref's three count.
