So Joe did the 1st NWA Underground show, and I wanted to have a go at a show under the banner. My show focuses not only on a lot of the talented young stars unsigned, but on the big names who somehow haven't been signed to any major companies as of yet. If this show can do anything, it can be to get some of these guys jobs, as they are way too good to be sitting on the sidelines.
NWA Underground #2: Stars vs Young Stars
It is announced before the show begins that as this show is in New Jersey, all matches will be held under NWA Extreme rules.
"The Olympic Gold Medallist" Kurt Angle vs "Pure Lightning" Josh Raymond
Who would have though Angle, an olympic gold medallist and former NWA World Heavyweight Champion would be wrestling the opening match of this show? Well he was, and it was against none other than Josh Raymond, a man very full of himself and not afraid to show it. Raymond started by slapping Angle in the face, then leapt to the turnbuckle to pose as the fans booed. Angle responded by tossing Raymond off the turnbuckle and taking him down with a Clothesline. Angle puts Raymond in an Arm Lock as he struggles to escape, but makes it to his feet, flips out and takes Angle down into a Headlock. And to add insult to injury, Raymond then spins on his back and leaps to the turnbuckle again, proclaiming that he just outwrestled Angle. Angle responded to that by leaping to the turnbuckle himself, taking Raymond down with a HUGE German Suplex off the top. Angle goes outside and grabs a chair, looking to finish this, but misses the chairshot and Raymond dropkicks the chair into his face! Raymond looks more serious now, he grabs Angle and puts him in a Sharpshooter, as Angle struggles not to tap. But if anyone can escape a hold its Angle, who reversed it into the Anklelock! Raymond struggles for a few second before tapping, Angle wins our opener!
Winner- Kurt Angle
"Captain Charisma" Christian vs "The Anarchist" Arik Cannon
Collar and elbow tieup to start this one, and it goes nowhere as the two back into the ropes. The two try again, only this time Cannon manages to get a big Forearm in after backing Christian onto the ropes. The two exchange forearms and punches, with Cannon taking the advantage, and hitting a few big chops in the process. Cannon then takes Christian down with a big Suplex, and raises his arms, wasting critical time before making a cover, which Christian kicks out of. Cannon grabs a cane from under the ring, and starts wailing away on Christian with it, telling Christian to "retire, because he isn't in the big leagues anymore!" Cannon looks to finish this as he grabs Christian for a Backdrop Driver, but Christian escapes and takes Cannon down with a Clothesline. Both men return to their feet and Christian gets some Clotheslines and a Back Body Drop, then grabs the cane and starts whacking Cannon with it. Christian calls for the Killswitch, and gets Cannon in position for it, but Cannon flips out and kicks Christian in the balls, causing him to drop to one knee. Cannon then nails the Glimmering Warlock, 1-2-3, CANNON WINS!
Winner- Arik Cannon
It was by questionable means, but Arik Cannon just beat Christian 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring, and impressed a lot of people in doing so.
"The Viper" Randy Orton vs Drake Younger
Younger came down to the ring with a trashcan of plunder, and from that point Orton knew he'd be in for a real fight here. Younger grabs a cane from the trashcan and smashes Orton over the head with it, then follows it up with some shots with a garbage can. Younger then grabs a spike of some kind from the trashcan, and goes after the forehead of Orton, busting him open and bloodying Orton considerably. Orton only escapes this by going to the eyes of Younger, and grabs the trashcan, emptying the plunder out and smashing Younger over the head with it. Orton goes outside the ring, grabs the ring bell and NAILS YOUNGER WITH IT! Orton looks like a man possessed as he pounds the mat, and goes for an RKO on the trashcan, but Younger blocks it, DRAKE'S LANDING ON THE TRASHCAN! Younger is too woozy from the shot with the bell to make the cover though, but he has Orton dazed now. He grabs a chair and smashes Orton over the back with it! He then sets up for a Drake's Landing on the chair, but Orton escapes, RKO ON THE CHAIR! 1-2-3, Orton pulls a win out of the fire there, he took one hell of a beating in this one.
Winner- Randy Orton
Sheamus and Irish Airborne (Dave and Jake Crist) vs The Prophecy (Dan Maff, BJ Whitmer and Xavier)
As this is Extreme rules, all 6 men are in there at the same time, and as a result this was a crazy matchup, impossible to give play by play on. But the theme we saw in The Prophecy's last 6 man tag was prevalent again: Maff took on the bigger man of the opposing team, in this case Sheamus, while Xavier and Whitmer faced off with Irish Airborne. Maff and Sheamus certainly had a powerful exchange, with neither man really proving to have an advantage over the other, although Sheamus impressed by getting Maff up for a Celtic Cross late on. But what would prove decisive would be the Irish Airborne's battle with Whitmer and Xavier, as while the two would usually have an advantage in a tag situation, in a tornado setup they struggled a bit, with Whitmer and Xavier having a lot of tricks up their sleeves as the wily veterans they are. Indeed it would end with Xavier dropping Jake with a Kiss Your X Goodbye on the floor, while Whitmer nailed an Exploder in the ring to pin Dave.
Winners- The Prophecy
Afterwards Whitmer grabbed a mic.
Whitmer: Yet another team of sinners have fallen victim to The Prophecy. Try as you might, you will all fall, and when our leader reveals himself the NWA will be purified of all those who we oppose. When our "angel" appears, the wrestling landscape will change forever!
Matt Morgan vs Samuray Del Sol w/Rey Mysterio
This was an odd match on paper, you had the young flyer Del Sol taking on the powerhouse Morgan, but apparently Rey Mysterio arranged this match to prove that his client can wrestle against big men just as well as smaller opponents, much like Mysterio himself. That didn't happen early on, as Morgan shrugged off most of Del Sol's offence, picked him up in a Body Press Slam, AND TOSSED HIM OVER THE TOP ONTO MYSTERIO! Del Sol was very flustered by this, but Mysterio got him refocused and back in there. As the two prepared to lockup again, Mysterio distracted Morgan, allowing Del Sol to connect with a Reverse Hurricanrana that got a near fall. Del Sol then went up top, and nailed a beautiful 450 Splash! 1-2-NO, Morgan somehow kicks out! Del Sol goes for the Hara-Kiri, but Morgan catches him on his shoulder and drops him with a slam. The two get back up and Morgan destroys Del Sol with a massive Clothesline, before calling for the Carbon Footprint. But Mysterio is in and springboards, taking Morgan down with a Dropkick, before he and Del Sol start putting the boots to Morgan, come on, this isn't fair. HERE COMES ACH! He runs in and goes after Mysterio, throwing him to the outside then hitting a massive Tope to take him out! Matt Morgan then nails the Carbon Footprint on the distracted Del Sol, and gets the 3 count.
Winner- Matt Morgan
The Young Bucks (Nick and Matt Jackson) vs Shannon Moore and Shane Helms
Again, this was a tornado tag, and again it was quite difficult to keep up with. The Bucks quickly charged at Helms, taking him down with a Double Clothesline and tossing him outside the ring. This allows them some time to work over Moore 2 on 1, as they use a Double Dropkick, then follow it up with the N'Sync. Helms is back in, and manages to take out Nick briefly with a Shining Wizard, allowing him and Matt to battle away, a battle Helms wins as he hits the Nightmare on Helms Street. He goes for the cover but Nick breaks it up. Moore is back in though and hits a Mooregasm on Nick for a near fall, Matt making the save. Helms tosses Matt out of the ring as he and Moore set up for a blast from the past on Nick, the Count Down, which they hit. 1-2-Matt makes the save! Matt Dropkicks Moore then grabs Helms, taking him down with a DDT. The Young Bucks recover first, grab Moore and hit a rope assisted Double DDT on him. They then manage to hit the More Bang for Your Buck on Helms, and that is enough to keep him down for 3.
Winners- The Young Bucks
Ryback vs "The King of Diamonds" Eddie Kingston
The fans chant "feed me more" at Ryback, he's a fan favourite here, but so is Kingston who these New Jersey fans admire for his fighting spirit and hard hitting style. And w definitely had a hard hitting start as the two exchanged big punches, with Kingston getting a few Forearms in there to. In the end Kingston shocked us all by taking Ryback to the canvas, appearing to daze Ryback who had to go to the outside and be looked at by the medic to see if he could continue. Ryback persevered and got back in the ring, and the two went at it again, with Kingston nailing a vicious Backfist that again sent Ryback loopy, but this time Ryback kept himself together and took Kingston down with a big Lariat. He then quickly picked up Kingston and dropped him with a Powerbomb, then locked in a Bearhug that had Kingston on the ropes. Kingston fought back with another vicious Backfist. Kingston then got a chair from the outside and smashed Ryback over the head, BUT IT HAD ZERO EFFECT! Ryback fires up as the fans chant "feed me more", and he runs right through Kingston with another big Lariat, following it with a Back Body Drop and a Splash in the corner. Ryback then lifts Kingston with ease for Shell Shocked, and gets the pinfall victory.
Winner- Ryback
"The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy vs "The Angel of Death" Azrieal
Hardy has recently moved to a PPA deal with CPW, and some may call him the hottest free agent in wrestling as his talent is unquestionable. Azrieal on the other hand has been making an impact all over the independent scene recently, as well as in NWA Extreme and NWA War Zone, he's definitely a star on the rise. These two high flyers locked up and exchanged a few mat holds and counter holds, but the match soon took to the air as the two exchanged Arm Drags and Dropkicks, before Hardy took Azrieal down with a Clothesline. Hardy then threw Azrieal outside the ring, charged the ropes and leapt over with a big Senton onto Azrieal! Hardy threw Azrieal back in and went for the cover, but it only got two. Hardy went up top and looked for a Leg Drop, but Azrieal moved and nailed a Hurricanrana, getting a 2 count. Azrieal quickly followed this up with a Sidekick to Hardy on the ground, then put him in a Cross Armbar to try and make him tap. Hardy reached the ropes, and fought his way to his feet, before getting a Twist of Fate. He couldn't capitalise due to his injured arm, but did manage to slam Azrieal down to the canvas, looking for the Swanton Bomb. But Azrieal moved and Hardy crashes and burns. DUSTED DRIVER, 1-2-3, AZRIEAL WINS, MAJOR UPSET HERE!
Winner- Azrieal
Post match Azrieal and Hardy tentatively shake hands, and Hardy puts Azrieal over as the future of the Junior Heavyweight division. The show ends with Hardy signing a few autographs for the fans, while Azrieal celebrates the biggest win of his career.
