"SATURDAY NIGHT WAR"
LOCATION: The Wolstein Center, Cleveland, OH
BROADCAST TEAM: Mike Tenay & Scott Hudson
EVENT DATE: March 30, 2013 (Taped on 03/28/13)
After the intro video we head down to ringside, where we are greeted by our announce team, Mike Tenay and Scott Hudson! They do a quick rundown of what will be happening tonight, as tonight is round one of the War Zone title tournament, night two taking place tomorrow, and will be available exclusively on the War Zone Wrestling website. The show then heads to a backstage promo from Chris Dickinson.
Chris Dickinson:
I defeat Eddie Edwards in a moment of excellence, and who comes to ruin it? Who else. BJ Whitmer rears his ugly, bloated head once again, but this time he's got his misfit bunch of butt buddies with him to try and rain on my parade. BJ, you got friends; how touching. Throwing bodies in front of the "Death Machine" isn't gonna stop me... nothing will. You're gonna find that out tonight. The Affliction... The Prophecy... I don't care who the fuck you are or what you call yourselves here, there, or anywhere, because when you step into War Zone, you're in my world. I thought I'd sent a message to you when I kicked your head in, but apparently you can't kill someone who never had a brain to begin with. Fair enough. Time to clean things up for good now.
We then head to the ring for the first match.
"The Big Deal" Chuck Taylor vs. "The War King" Eddie Kingston
Chuck Taylor had a great swagger to him tonight, coming off a big tag team victory last week, but Eddie Kingston was also coming off a great showing and really seemed to want the win tonight. Kingston would really try to punish "The Big Deal" high impact physicality, using suplexes and strikes, as he is known to do, to try to wear down and knock out the Kentucky native. Taylor took down the "War King" with a series of armdrags, followed by a big Jumping Big Boot to send Kingston to the outside. Sexy Chuckie T starts to taunt after that, bowing and patting himself on the back. He looks like he is going for a dive to the outside when Kingston actually connects with a Backfist to the Future mid-dive, cracking him on the side of the head and hanging him up on the middle rope! From there, Kingston slides into the ring and grabs Taylor from behind... High Angle Backdrop Drop Driver! Kingston makes the cover, and it's all over!
Mike Tenay:
Chuck Taylor gets a little over confident, and that's just the opening Kingston needed to clean his clock and get the win here tonight! That devastating Backdrop Driver takes him into Round 2 of this title tournament, Scott!
Scott Hudson:
Take your eye off of the "War King" for one second and you could be facing a concussion, or worse, a broken neck! Kingston is very dangerous, and he's going to be a force to be reckoned with in the second round.
We go backstage, where we see Alex Shelley watching his match from last week.
Alex Shelley:
Chris Hero, I have to hand it to you... you showed the world what you were made of last week when you turned the "Abstract's" face into a scrambled mess with that big boot of yours, but Chris, I think you'll find that I'm a quick study and you're really over estimating yourself. Sure, last week, it was you pinning me to the mat, but don't think I haven't learned anything... don't think I haven't been watching, studying, because just when you think you've got me figured out... you're gonna wish you'd looked twice. You're going to figure out there's more than meets the eye when you're dealing with "The Abstract" Alex Shelley. See you later, sport.
Shelley winks and smiles as we head back to the ring.
"The Exiled Archangel" Azrieal vs. "The American Buzzsaw" Chris Sabin
Sabin is able to withstand an early barrage from Azrieal, who chokes him and pummels him the corner with right hands, turning the tides with vicious chops, followed by a series of kicks that sent Azrieal to the outside. Sabin follows up with a rotating Springboard Moonsault Dive, getting a big pop from the crowd. Back in the ring, Azrieal catches Sabin with a Jawbreaker, before hitting a Falling Reverse DDT for a two count. Azrieal nails Sabin with a clothesline off the ropes before trying for a Quebrada, but Sabin rolls out of the way and he eats canvas! Sabin nearly decapitates Azrieal with a Roundhouse Kick as he's kneeling, picking him up off the mat and hitting a Tiger Suplex, which is enough to get the convincing pinfall victory!
Mike Tenay:
Azrieal has been impressive so far here in NWA War Zone, but Chris Sabin was just red hot tonight! He made short work of the "Exiled Archangel," using some big time striking and a textbook Tiger Suplex to close the deal and advance in this tournament.
Scott Hudson:
Chris Sabin has been creeping up the rankings and this could be a defining moment for him. Sabin showed us all along he has a mean streak, but now he is showing that he knows what it takes to get the job done.
"X Rated" Shiima Xion vs. Tyler Black
Xion seems very confident coming into this and is able to get the better of Black early with an arm wringer and some joint locks, but Black is able to reverse an arm lock with a kick Xion's face, breaking it up, before catching him with a Single Leg Dropkick, which earns him a two count. Black tries to pick up "X-Rated" off the mat, but the Filipino American star catches him with a series of elbows to the mid-section to regain control. Xion runs off the ropes, which Black tries to cut short with a clothesline, but "X-Rated" ducks it and flies, springboarding off the middle rope and twisting, catching Black with an armdrag that sends him to the outside! Xion feints a dive, but catches himself on the ropes as Black moves. This leads to Xion running and catching Black with a Baseball Slide Headscissors Takedown on the outside, followed by an Asai Moonsault, which gets a big crowd reaction. Xion rolls Black back in, catching him with a Slingshot Legdrop to the back of the head as he tries to get to his feet, but only gets a two count. Xion goes on to try and nail the Hostile Makeover, but Black lands on his feet and catches him with an Reverse STO into the Turnbuckles, followed by a Paroxysm (Swinging Lifting Inverted DDT), but only gets a two count! Black catches Xion as he gets to a knee with a Superkick, which he follows by attempting a Phoenix Splash, but Xion rolls out of the way and Black rolls through. Black tries to catch him with another Superkick, but "X-Rated" catches him boot and elbows him to the back of the head... Hostile Makeover! Only a two count follows, though. Xion calls for the end, and then attempts the From Lust to Dust, but Black pushes him away and nails an Enzuigiri, followed by a Blackout (Running Pushing Stomp to the Back of the Head), but only gets a two count! Black picks up Xion, now calling for the end, but Xion is able to break free of a Fisherman's type hold, nailing a knee to his midsection and hitting a wicked Palm Strike, before nailing a Gory Bomb! Xion pins, but Black somehow kicks out! Xion bodyslams Black and heads up top, but Black is back up and runs, flying and hitting a Dropkick to Xion's face, crotching him up top! Black then leaps and in a single bound catches Xion and brings him down hard with a Huracanrana From there, Black is on the apron, motioning for Xion to get to his feet. "X-Rated" stumbles up and Black springboards, flying and connecting with a nice Knee Attack that makes Xion do a back flip onto his face! Black makes the cover, and it's a three count! He gets the big time pinfall here tonight!
Mike Tenay:
What a great effort by these two men! Black gets a major victory, beating the outstanding Shiima Xion in an excellent back and forth contest!
Scott Hudson:
These two showed that they wanted this win very badly, but Black was just more driven and more intense, and it paid off in the end as he gets his hand raised and goes on in this tournament.
We go backstage, where we see BJ Whitmer standing, wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, his fists taped and pounding his right hand into the palm of his left hand.
BJ Whitmer:
Last week was just a taste of what is coming for you, Chris. You think because you beat me once, because you've tried to bully me out of this business, that I'm just going to lay down for you? That you've got some kind of easy road ahead of you? I get it, you're not afraid of anything, but that doesn't make you brave, Chris... bravery has nothing to do with it. It's just plain stupidity. I have something to live for, which is more than you can say, and tonight... I prove, once again, that no matter how hard you try, you can't break me.
We head back to the ring.
"Die Hard" Eddie Edwards vs. Shawn Daivari
Daivari came out on fire, locking on a headlock and plowing fist after fist into the head of Edwards, before nailing him with multiple double ax handles and kicks, really getting the crowd riled up as he yelled a string of obscenities. Edwards would manage to battle back, catching Daivari coming off the top rope with a Dropkick, before hitting a Saito Suplex for a two count. Daivari would reverse a Lungblower later, hanging on to the top rope and sending Edwards onto his back, before hitting a Springboard Legdrop off the middle rope for a two count. Daivari would try for his Desert Storm, but Edwards would slide off of it and hit a Dropkick to the back of his head, sending him into the buckles. From there, Edwards would nail the Chin Checker (Backpack Stunner), but only get a two count. Daivari hits a low blow as Edwards is going for the Die Hard, hitting a Back Suplex and heading up top, but Edwards puts his knees up to block a Flying Splash attempt, nailing his Die Hard (Cross Leg Fisherman's Buster) afterwards and pinning for the three count.
Mike Tenay:
Daivari tried to stay on top of it and pulled out all the stops he could, but "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards just could not be stopped tonight.
Scott Hudson:
Edwards is a thoroughbred, and when he's on, it's hard for anyone to match him toe-to-toe in that ring. Daivari was just the unlucky guy in his path tonight.
"The Shinobi of the North" Kenny Omega vs. Ricochet
Kenny Omega was very vocal and energized here, while Ricochet was able to put on a Hell of a show, he and Omega gelling very well and giving the fans a very entertaining spotfest. Omega has the kind of charisma that can bring up a guy like Ricochet, who is good but sometimes lacks a certain distinguishing factor personality wise, and make them something more. Ricochet would look like he had this match won on numerous occasions, but it was Omega's Croyt's Wrath (Electric Chair into a German Suplex) that was the finishing blow in a well contested match.
Mike Tenay:
A very good lucha libre influenced match, which had a lot of elements of Japanese pro wrestling as well. You'll have that with two guys as well traveled as these. Omega with his impressive Croyt's Wrath finisher was able to seal the pinfall victory in what was a treat for the audience tonight.
"The Man of Steel" Alex Koslov vs. Delirious
Delirious starts off the match getting into Koslov's head a bit, doing a Russian dance with his arms folded on two occasions as it seemed they were about to lock up. Koslov would eventually try to kick him as he tried this a third time, but Delirious would grab his leg and hit an Inverted Dragon Screw, followed by a Huracanrana Pin for a two count! Koslov catches Delirious with a series of chops, followed by forearms to the back and then big grinding forearms and elbows across his face in the corner, before stomping him down in the corner, choking him with his boot as a finale to that string of violence. "The Man of Steel" mocks Delirious and then threatens some of the fans, trying to incite a chant of "RUSSIA!" but he gets nothing but boos, followed by chants of "DELIRIOUS!" Koslov hits a Discus Elbow, pinning afterwards, but only a two count. Delirious manages to make a comeback after a quick Inside Cradle, hitting some really nasty chops of his own, before giving Koslov a chain wrestling lesson into a Crucifix style pin, also getting a two count. Delirious is able to hit a series of clotheslines, followed by a Cobra Clutch Suplex, but only a two count! Delirious locks on his version of the Cobra Stretch, but Koslov gets to the ropes. Koslov catches him with a Jumping Spinning Roundhouse Kick to the back of the head, and then nails his Red Scare (Russian Legsweep into a Cobra Stretch), really igniting this battle of the Cobra Stretch masters in NWA War Zone, but Delirious also gets to the ropes. Delirious is able to catch Koslov with a Drop Toe Hold into the turnbuckles, followed by a Running Knee Attack in the corner and then the Shadows Over Hell, but Koslov still kicks out! Koslov gouges the eyes of Delirious and delivers a Superkick, which he follows up with his Russian Dance style kicks to the back of Delirious head as he's seated, following with a Running Double Stomp to his head, but only gets a two count. Koslov attempts a Fisherman's Buster, but Delirious breaks free and takes him down, trying for a Crippler Crossface, but Koslov rolls through, trying for a Crossface of his own, but Delirious breaks free, floating over his back and driving multiple downward elbows into the back of his head before rolling him over and into a Cobra Stretch! Koslov has to nowhere to go and has to tap out!
Mike Tenay:
Very tough win for Delirious there, as "The Man of Steel" proved to be a handful! It was that Cobra Stretch, though, that proved to be too much for him!
Scott Hudson:
Both men favor that submission hold, and I always wondered who would come out on top in a battle between them, and we just found out. Delirious is moving on!
BJ Whitmer vs. "The Death Machine" Chris Dickinson
Let's just call this Round 2, as these guys pick up right where they left off, coming right to the middle of the ring and grabbing each other by the head, blasting one another at point blank range with punches and elbows, knees colliding with thighs and abs and it's just all out war! These two spill out to the outside, where BJ starts lighting up Dickinson with chops and punches, but Dickinson is able to tackle him down and start unloading punches, before catching him with some brutal stomps! Dickinson picks him up and tosses him into the apron, unloading a series of Machine Gun Chops, but Whitmer blocks with his forearms and grabs Dickinson into a headlock, rushing and bashing him head first into the turnpost and busting him open! Whitmer just starts kicking him right to the head and face before nailing a huge German Suplex on the floor! Whitmer rolls Dickinson into the ring before heading up top, flying off with a Suicide Headbutt! That gets him a two count. Whitmer tries to lock on a Jugigatame, but Dickinson clasps his hands and fights out of it, slamming Whitmer on the mat to break free. Dickinson tries to lock on a Rear Naked Chop, but BJ blocks it and turns it over, getting into a guard and then slipping past it into half guard, trying to lock Dickinson into an Anaconda Vice, but Dickinson is able to break free and grab him by the waist, lifting him and sending him over with a German Suplex of his own! Whitmer is back up, though, wobbly but keeping his hands up. Dickinson goes for a Spinning Back Elbow, but Whitmer grabs him and nails an Exploder Suplex! Whitmer covers, but still just a two count! Whitmer comes flying off the ropes and connects with a Single Leg Dropkick, smashing the bloody "Death Machine" to the face, but still gets only a two count. The Kentucky native tries to lock on his Peruvian Necktie, but Dickinson slides out and tries to lock on a Triangle Choke! Whitmer manages to escape and both men are up. Dickinson blocks a Roundhouse Kick to the head and nails a Spinkick to Whitmer's gut, catching him with a downward Shin Kick to the back of his head, before nailing a Kamelin Throw that sends Whitmer right onto his neck! Dickinson hurries, grabbing him again with the Gutwrench and then sends him down AGAIN on his neck! Dickinson measures up Whitmer before rushing and punt kicking him to the side of the head, sending him on his back, looking completely out of it. From there, The Affliction (Azrieal, Dan Maff, and Xavier) all run out, as Dickinson calls for the end. This leads to three hooded men jumping from the ringside area and attacking them! WHAT IS THIS!? Dickinson is distracted long enough for Whitmer to get to his knees, and when he turns, Whitmer is holding his neck, telling him to bring it on. Dickinson kicks Whitmer straight to the face, and then tries to lift him into a Brainbuster, but Whitmer catches him with a knee to the face and then nails a Half Nelson Suplex, sending Dickinson right on top of his head! Whitmer grabs Dickinson and tries for a Wrist Clutch Exploder, but Dickinson battles out with a series of elbows before locking Whitmer into a Sleeper... and then he flips him over, straight onto his head with a SLEEPER SUPLEX! Whitmer is out of it, on all fours, though, after that impact. Dickinson grabs him by the head and pulls him into the Powerbomb position... oh, HELL NO! GANSO BOMB! HE DRIVES WHITMER STRAIGHT ONTO HIS HEAD WITH THE GANSO BOMB! Dickinson makes the cover by sitting on BJ's chest, screaming down profanities at him as he points in his face, the ref counting to three.
Mike Tenay:
Oh my God... BJ Whitmer's neck may be broken as the blood drenched Dickinson continues to scream into his face, and what is this on the outside!?
Scott Hudson:
It looks like Chris Dickinson found himself some back up. Man, I am just speechless after that match. I've never seen anything like that in all of my years, Mike...
Dickinson grabs a mic, obviously not speechless, as the hooded men from the crowd join him on the outside, two of which after holding chairs and fending off the Affliction as BJ is being removed from the ring by medics.
Chris Dickinson:
I TOLD YOU, MOTHERFUCKERS! I TOLD YOU ALL! Put bodies in front of the "Death Machine" and see the carnage for yourself! I told you it was time to clean things up around here, and that's what I aim to do! BJ Whitmer, you gave me a Hell of a fight, you fuckin' bastard, and I have a feeling this shit STILL AIN'T OVER, but it doesn't matter. You got an army? I brought mine, motherfucker! Let me introduce you to a Mr. Eric Ryan...
Eric Ryan unhoods himself.
Chris Dickinson:
... Mr. Rickey Shane Page...
and a Mr. Dustin Rayz!
All three men have unhooded now, and are patting Dickinson on the back and smiling. Eric Ryan grabs the microphone.
Eric Ryan:
Do not look away! Do not ignore this! This is the "Voice of Reason" here to say that from now on, the playing field has been leveled, and things are going to change in this business, whether you like it or not! Guys like Whitmer want to throw their weight around because they can, guys want to politic their way to the top, well from now on, they are going to have to get through us! This is The Cleansing... and no one is safe!
All four men leave the ring now to a mixed reaction from the fans.
"The Abstract" Alex Shelley vs. Chris Hero
Hero is very brash and mouthy going into this, swatting at Shelley early on and then initiating a Greco Roman knuckle lock. Hero rolls backwards, overtaking Shelley in the knuckle lock, but Shelley breaks it up with a kick and then a headlock takedown, leading to a series of chain wrestling holds, which Shelley actually seems to come out on top of. Hero is able to catch Shelley with some knees and a European uppercut, before locking on a Cravat and then kneeing him to the head! Shelley is able to dodge a Flying Avalanche Elbow Attack, catching Hero with an Enzuigiri in the corner, followed by a Swinging Complete Shot for a two count! Hero is able to catch Shelley coming with a Jumping Twisting Elbow Attack, sending him to the outside. Hero leans on the ropes and rolls backwards, landing on the outside like a cat before running and trying to catch Shelley with a Boot, but Shelley ducks it, catching Hero with a snap Superkick, followed by a Sliced Bread #2 off the turnpost to the floor to get the crowd going! Shelley rolls Hero into the ring, coming in with a Slingshot Senton for a two count. Hero comes back with a series of knees, followed by a Cravat Suplex, but only gets a two count. Hero pummels Shelley with elbows, the Dayton native trying to wear him down for one of his lethal Elbow Strike finishers, but Shelley is able to duck an on coming Rolling Elbow, catching Hero with a Springboard Back Elbow, followed by a Huracanrana, and then finishing with a quick Shelley Clutch (Arm Wrench Cradle Hold) for a close two count! Hero is outraged and catches Shelley with a kick to the gut, followed by three big inside elbows and then his patented Hero's Welcome, but only gets a two count! Hero throws off his elbow pad, elbowing the turnbuckle and yelling out, but Shelley is able to duck another Rolling Elbow, running up the turnbuckles and then Backflipping over an on coming Hero, before dropkicking his knee out and then hitting a Springboard Legdrop to the back of his head! Hero staggers up and Shelley catches him with an Enzuigiri, which he follows but by trying for the ShellShock, but Hero twists and goes for a Back Suplex, but Shelley reverses it, landing on his feet and trying to catch Hero into the Border City Stretch, but Hero rolls out of it, grabbing Shelley into a Cravat and picking him up... ROLLING ELBOW TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD! Hero pins Shelley, but only a two count! Hero picks up Shelley, trying for his Ripcord Rolling Elbow, but Shelley ducks it and catches him with a ShellShock, sending Hero down right on the top of his head! Shelley goes for the cover, but just a two count! Shelley picks up, trying for Automatic Midnight, but Hero slides down and tries for a Sunset Flip, but Shelley rolls through it and then catches Hero with an elbow of his own as Hero is in the seated position, transitioning straight into a leghook pin, and it's enough to get the three count!
Mike Tenay:
"The Abstract" Alex Shelley beats Hero at his own game, pinning him after an elbow strike!
Scott Hudson:
What a turn of events there, as Shelley out maneuvers and out smarts Hero, getting the huge win to advance!
Mike Tenay:
For Scott Hudson, I'm Mike Tenay... see tomorrow on WZWrestling.com for Night 2 of the title tournament!

"NIGHT 2 OF THE WAR ZONE TITLE TOURNAMENT"
LOCATION: The Woodling Gym, Cleveland, OH
BROADCAST TEAM: Mike Tenay & Scott Hudson
EVENT DATE: March 31, 2013 (Taped on 03/29/13)
Mike Tenay and Scott Hudson introduced themselves and welcomed everyone to this special webcast, as we decide tonight the two competitors who will be headed to Mexico to crown the first ever War Zone champion! Without further delay, the action begins!
"The American Buzzsaw" Chris Sabin vs. Tyler Black
Sabin and Black have a measured feeling out process to start, as these two are very similar in style and know how dangerous it is for the other to get an opening. Sabin is able to out wrestle Black on the mat early, but Black manage to reverse a whip into the corner later, back flipping over Sabin and catching him with a Dropkick that sends him to the outside, leading to a Leap Over Moonsault from the Middle Turnbuckle, crushing Sabin on the outside and giving these fans something to pop about. Back in the ring, these guys exchange kicks and near falls at a quick pace, the feeling out process obviously over, and it is Black who manages to come out on top, ducking a Handspring Gamenjiri and delivering a Superkick to Sabin as he gets up to a knee, looking like he might have given him whiplash, and that keeps "The American Buzzsaw" down long enough for the three count!
Mike Tenay:
Lightning quick kick there from Black lands right on the mark, and Sabin was just too stunned to get the shoulder up before the count of three!
Scott Hudson:
Sabin was tenacious, but Black just has a lot of heart and fire, and that is what helped him put this one away and go on to the semi-finals.
"The Shinobi of the North" Kenny Omega vs. "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards
Kenny Omega once again had these fans behind him, as he kept goading Edwards throughout the match and would nail some very impressive moves, stringing together his attacks in quick sequences that helped him live up to his ninja-like nickname. Edwards is as tough as they come though, and after withstanding a good deal of Omega offense was able to get him down with various leg locks and attacks, trying to work him over for the Half Boston Crab, which he'd eventually lock on twice, but Omega found a way to escape both times. Edwards would do what Ricochet couldn't last night, and that was kick out of the Croyt's Wrath, living up to his nickname, but it was Omega's One Winged Angel (Single Leg Electric Chair Driver) that was enough to finish him off tonight, sending Omega into the semi-finals with another impressive victory.
Mike Tenay:
Kenny Omega is unlike anyone else in the business, and that performance right there is why. These fans just eat it up when this guy is in the ring, and he's got a slew of high impact moves he can end you with.
Scott Hudson:
No doubt about it, Kenny Omega is looking like he's got the drive to win the whole thing after two stellar performances in this tournament.
"The Death Machine" Chris Dickinson vs. "The War King" Eddie Kingston
Dickinson has bandaged up from his all out war with BJ Whitmer, while Kingston had it much easier the night before, catching Chuck Taylor off guard in a short contest. This match was another strong style battle for Dickinson, which Kingston actually had the better of most of it, looking like he was going to come away with the win, but Dickinson proved he was able to withstand a lot of punishment and had scouted what he needed to. Kingston was unable to land his Backfist to the Future, which seemed to be Dickinson's game plan, as he was able to duck and block every attempt and land something substantial each time. Dickinson was able to win the match with a second Brainbuster, sending him straight into the semi-finals.
"The Abstract" Alex Shelley vs. Delirious
Alex Shelley is very versatile, and he beat a very versatile wrestler to get to this point in Chris Hero, but now he would have another wild and talented wrestler to deal with in Delirious. Delirious is one of the best to ever step foot in a WZW ring, having been here since show one, and he didn't want to give Shelley an inch, matching him move for move and actually beating him in a chain wrestling match on the mat. Shelley was able to score with some well placed kicks later, nailing a nice dive, but he would eat some chops and get beat up pretty good on the outside for his troubles. Shelley was able to catch Delirious with a Codebreaker as he came off the top for his Shadows Over Hell, rolling him up with an Oklahoma Roll followed into a Border City Stretch to nearly get the win, but Delirious was somehow able to get to the ropes for the break. Delirious would later lock up Shelley into the Cobra Stretch, which looked like it could be all, but Shelley too made it to the ropes to break it. Shelley was able to kick out of Delirious' Bizzaro Driver narrowly, shocking all in attendance. Shelley would nail Delirious with a Reverse STO and head up top later, going for a Frog Splash, but Delirious manage to avoid that and hit a Double Underhook Driver, but still just a two count! Delirious would yell out in his hoarse, wild voice and try for the Chemical Imbalance II, but Shelley would flip out of it and deliver a Superkick, followed by the ShellShock, before locking on a Regal-Stretch, which is just a cross legged version of his Border City Stretch, and that was enough to earn him the submission win in a very entertaining match.
Mike Tenay:
You'll be hard pressed to find better wrestling than that anywhere in the world. Those two just brought their best, and it was amazing! Listen to these fans!
Scott Hudson:
That was a truly great match up, and I really had no idea who was going to get it. Shelley has really had to earn his way through this thing, having survived Hero and now Delirious in two very good matches.
"The Shinobi of the North" Kenny Omega vs. Tyler Black
Both men knew going into this that the winner would have to fly to Mexico and be ready for yet another match, so the idea here was to get this over with as soon as possible. This was like watching a fast paced action movie, as these two were flying all over with lucha style offense and kung fu influenced defense, kicks and armdrags and dives galore, as each man was trying to score something big to keep the other down. In the end, it came down to striking, as kicks and legsweeps were abound, but it was Kenny Omega catching Tyler Black trying to get to his feet, dazed after a Standing Shooting Star Press, with his EX Hadouken double palm strike straight to the face, sending him spinning back down to the mat, that held him down just enough to get the three count! Kenny Omega is headed to Mexico!
Mike Tenay:
Wow! Talk about action packed! These two left it all in the ring, and Kenny Omega comes out on top!
Scott Hudson:
Omega has looked amazing, and now he has the chance he's been waiting for, as he heads to Mexico in hopes of putting some gold around his waist! But who will he face? We find out next!
"The Abstract" Alex Shelley vs. "The Death Machine" Chris Dickinson
This was a much different match for Dickinson than his previous two, which he seemed to welcome, as it was obvious the strong style fighting had worn on him considerably. This worked in Shelley's favor, as he would pin point where his previous opponents had done a lot of damage, namely reopening the wound on his forehead with a well placed kick, giving "The Abstract" the advantage. Dickinson had a size advantage and has considerable mat skills, so he was able to hang with Shelley enough to overwhelm him at times with sheer strength and tenacity, but Shelley's form was able to win out for him and he show why he is truly one of the best in the world at what he does. Dickinson would try to go into a rage to win, using multiple knees and forearms, before nailing a Side Mount Suplex for a two count, but he may have worn himself out, and Shelley would turn up the heat. Shelley would lock on his Border City Stretch and force Dickinson to pull himself all the way to the ropes to break it. He would then lock on an Octopus Stretch, grounding Dickinson again and forcing him to pull himself. Dickinson would lock on an Abdominal Stretch, grounding it and landing elbows, before locking on his Stretch Plum, but he was just too tired to really hold Shelley down, who made it to the ropes. Shelley was showing wear, but was able to land on all fours from a German Suplex attempt, catching Dickinson with a Sliding Kick, and then locking on a Crippler Crossface, causing Dickinson to exert energy once again to break it up. In the end, Dickinson would go on a rampage, nailing multiple open hand slaps and kicks, before landing a Spin Kick and then hitting his Brain Eater finisher! Shelley was smart enough to roll near the ropes, though, and Dickinson wasn't even able to pin him in a very timely fashion, so Shelley had the wherewithal to put his foot on the ropes to break it. Dickinson would try for the Brainbuster, but Shelley would reverse it mid-move right into the Border City Stretch! Dickinson could not pull himself anymore, but refused to quit, so after wearing him down amply, Shelley switched positions, scissoring the arm and pulling him over into a Crucifix pin, and that did it... Alex Shelley gets the win!
Mike Tenay:
Chris Dickinson shows his warrior spirit, refusing to give up after a very strong effort, but Alex Shelley just could not be stopped tonight!
Scott Hudson:
Talk about an interesting match, as we have Alex Shelley taking on Kenny Omega in Mexico for the War Zone title! That is going to be a very exciting contest!
Mike Tenay:
No doubt about it, Scott! For Scott Hudson, this is Mike Tenay, so long and see you next week on Saturday Night WAR!
