Proving Grounds
"God's Gift" QT Marshall vs TaDarius Thomas
A very fun little opener here, both men definitely impressed the fans on their debut. Marshall's style can only be described as old school, he used a lot of what people may refer to as basic manuvers, but they were executed well and crisply. The problem Marshall had though was he posed just a tad too much, and that allowed Thomas several opportunities to come back into this, wowing everyone with his very unique style based around many styles of MMA, kicking Marshall a load of different ways and locking him in some nasty submissions. But it would be Marshall who would come out on top, hitting the move he calls the Glamour Shot to pin Thomas for a 3 count.
Winner- QT Marshall
Post match as Marshall and Thomas leave, The Pistols come out applauding, with both looking a little bemused. Matt Taven takes the mic.
Taven: As I said last week, we, The Pistols, are fed up of this business being dominated by dinosaurs. The time has come from the fresh new face of professional wrestling to take over, and thats us. And tonight we are going to show all we are made of against some "veterans" who think they are better than us. Send these old losers out here so I can pin them!
The Pistols (Matt Taven, Samuray Del Sol, Mike Bennett and Tommaso Ciampa) vs Ace Darling, Don Montoya, "Reckless Youth" Tom Carter and Devon Storm
The older team all got a big pop from the crowd, all talent who have competed on the New Jersey independant scene at one point or another yet are not exactly in the prime of their careers at this point. And while the older guys gave a fair account of themselves, it was The Pistols who really impressed, not only in terms of their crisp wrestling skills on the mat and in the air, but their fantastic double team ability to, they looked like they had been teaming for years. Despite a close near fall on Taven by Carter, Ciampa and Bennett would drop both him and Montoya with Project Ciampa and the Box Office Smash respectively. Taven then recovered and nailed a double Taven Effect on Darling and Storm, and Del Sol polished them off with a 450 Splash to pin both at the same time!
Winners- The Pistols
As The Pistols celebrate a very impressive victory, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Wade Barrett and Ryback come down to the ring. Orton takes the mic.
Orton: I'd like to say this was a very impressive debut and win for you "young superstars in the making", however beating 4 guys who haven't wrestled on the big stage in years or ever is hardly what I'd call an impressive feat. Instead, I have another proposition for you. How about me, Rey Mysterio, Wade Barrett and Ryback take on you guys at Matthews vs Lesnar in an 8 man tag team match?
The fan like the sound of that, as Taven takes the mic.
Taven: Bring it on old man, we can take you all out and send you to the retirement home where you belong!
The Pistols leave, as the two groups stare each other down all the way, Orton looking especially annoyed about that "old man" comment, he's only 33. This is going to be an awesome matchup!
3 Way X Showcase
Chris Sabin vs Ricochet vs Sin Cara
Three debuting talent here, all with different stories yet very different styles. Sabin has not found consistent employment or even been given a consistent chance to fulfil his potential, but thats what we like in NWA Extreme. Ricochet is a former World Junior Heavyweight Champion, but hasn't had a ton of success since then, and wants to get back on track. Sin Cara is another talent who has struggled to stay employed, and as one of wrestling's premier high fliers he's a natural fit in NWA Extreme. Cara wowed the crowd the most of the 3 men, his display was reminiscent of Rey Mysterio in his early ECW days, but all 3 men impressed in their own way. And Sabin pulled off a massive victory, hitting the Cradle Shock on Ricochet to pin him.
Winner- Chris Sabin
Vordell Walker makes his way out to the ring, and is set to reveal his mystery partner. His partner is.....JAKA! Jaka, one of Chris Dickinson's closest friends has chosen to fight against him for this tag match, what a twist!
"The Shooter" Vordell Walker and Jaka vs "The Cleansing (Rickey Shane Page and Chris Dickinson)
A fun tag team match here with a lot more to it than just wrestling, pride was on the line, along with the chance for Walker or Dickinson to one up each other in their competitive rivalry. The wrestling was top notch as you would expect, with lots of crisp mat wrestling and stiff strikes, with the kicks and punches between Walker and Dickinson proving to be as hard to deal with as ever. But it was Jaka who would prove to be the decisive factor, as he chose to walk out on his partner Walker, refusing to fight his friend Dickinson anymore. This left Walker in a 2 on 1 situation, leading to Dickinson nailing a vicious Brain Drill to pin Walker 1-2-3. A big win for Dickinson ahead of a future feud ending shoot fight between the two men.
Winners- The Cleansing
The Prophecy ("The Angel of Death" Azrieal, BJ Whitmer and Dan Maff) w/Bray Wyatt vs Sheamus, Jeff Hardy and Jack Swagger
Wyatt's presence at ringside brought something very different to this match than last week. A master of mind games, Wyatt constantly got involved, at one point taking the mic and preaching to the fans which completely threw the opposition off their game. But the theme was similar to last week, with Maff and Sheamus continuing their very heated rivalry by fighting all over ringside, Swagger and Whitmer combining the same level of intense brawling with mat wrestling, and Azrieal and Hardy taking to the air to see who the best flier was. Wyatt however proved to be the decisive factor, when the ref was distracted he ran in and charged at Swagger, giving him a big Splash Mountain in the corner, allowing Whitmer to then grab him and drop him with an Exploder to pin him for 3, and get what some might call one of the biggest pinfall victories of his career!
Winners- The Prophecy
Wyatt takes the mic post match.
Wyatt: Brothers and sisters, as I promised, The Prophecy is relieving these three sinners of their souls. They simply cannot be saved, they have to go to hell with my dear old daddy as a message to you all. Some might say we haven't exactly been fighting fair, but sometimes in life you have to bend the rules to make your point, especially in the presence of those who themselves have sinned so very much. However, once I've taken care of a little business next week, I'll make a little proposition that will give the biggest sinner of all, Sheamus, exactly what he wants!
What is Wyatt talking about? It seems there's some "business" Wyatt is planning on taking care of, but what is this business exactly? I guess we will find out next week.
Kyle Matthews is out for what is being billed as the official contract signing for Matthews vs Lesnar. Matthews however has some stuff he wants to say.
Matthews: "Before I sign this contract, I have a few questions I need to answer. First of all, Alberto Del Rio, don't think I haven't noticed your words against me. You criticised me, saying that had it not been for the use of that chair, I wouldn't be holding this belt. Well Alberto, who brought the chair into the ring? It wasn't me Alberto, and that only leaves one other possibility. Yes, had I not defended myself you would still be holding that belt, but it would have been via disqualification. You and me will clash again at Slamboree, only this time when I beat you 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring without the chair, you will have zero excuses, you'll have to admit that I am the better man!
Next up, Christopher Daniels. I've seen your promo, and I accept your challenge, but something seemed a little off to me Daniels. Why do we have to wait until The Great American Bash? Is it because you've been so traumatised by Low-Ki playing dress-up that you don't think you could beat me at the next South Beach event? Because I'd be up for that, unless your too scared to face me. In fact, I'd even let you choose the stipulation, it could be a street fight, a ladder match, or even a lumberjack match with your friends Bowling Shirt and Camo Pants at ringside. The choice is yours Daniels, you can prove whether your a man or whether your a coward!
Finally I turn to you Brock. I interfered in your match last week to teach you a lesson, you see you disrespected me in a big way last week by saying I was scared to face you, and by questioning my credentials as champion. Everyone is saying I wouldn't have beaten Alberto had it not been for your attack, and Alberto think he wouldn't have lost his belt had it not been for you. Well thats bullshit, I was destined to win this belt, and then you stuck your nose in and forced me to play my hand. I had to get Alberto in the ring for this belt, I fought too long and too hard to face Brock Lesnar for the title, and you wanted me to throw away my shot at the man I hate. Well I'll gladly face you at the iPPV, and I'm going to make you pay for your disrespect by making you tap and snapping your arm!"
Matthews signs the contract, but then Brock Lesnar makes his way out to the ring.
Lesnar: "Kyle, nothing you just said is justifiable, you know and I know that I had just as much of a right to challenge for that belt as you did. You blatantly got involved in my match, and cost me the belt that would have definitely been mine, because everyone knows I had Alberto beat. If you were truly an honourable man Matthews like you say you are, you'd have not gotten involved, because you could still have faced Alberto in a non-title match, or even fought me for the belt in Mexico and then faced Alberto. Your a coward and a phony Kyle, a man not worthy of the title NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and on April 29th I'm going to prove it by kicking your ass and taking back my property!"
Lesnar signs the contract, and the two have an intense staredown. AND THEY START BRAWLING! The two exchange rights, until Lesnar grabs Matthews AND DROPS HIM WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX! Lesnar picks up Matthews and tosses him into the ropes, BUT MATTHEWS GETS THE HIDAKA LOCK! Brock however is too powerful, he lifts Kyle up with ease and drops him with the F5! Lesnar picks up the belt, looks at it with a purposeful look, before throwing it at Matthews, who is lying unconscious on the canvas after that brutal move.
NWA Extreme Heavyweight Title Match
"The Machine Gun" Karl Anderson vs "Pure Lightning" Josh Raymond
Raymond certainly offered a different kind of challenge for Anderson, with Anderson's no nonsense approach being countered by the goofiness and over confidence of Raymond, who celebrated almost every single time he hat a move successfully on Anderson as if he had already won the belt. Anderson didn't let this phase him, beating the hell out of Raymond with those vicious punches of his, as well as a big Suplex or two and a nasty Spinebuster. Raymond got more serious as the match went on, realising that he pretty much had to or risk missing out on the belt, and he did manage to lock the Sharpshooter he has been employing lately that almost made Anderson tap. Anderson escaped however and fought back, nailing the Gun Stun, and that was enough to see him retain his title for a successful first title defence.
Winner- Karl Anderson
Post match, as Anderson celebrates with the belt, Wade Barrett comes down to the ring.
Barrett: Karl Anderson, you and I both know that we've far from settled our grudge. Thats why next week, I want you one on one for that NWA Extreme Heavyweight Title, I want to show that 2013 is the year of the Barrett Barrage by beating you to a pulp with a barrage of fists!
Anderson: Consider your challenge accepted boy, I'll see you next week!
Anderson is as no nonsense as you come, he couldn't have accepted the challenge any more seriously that he did. Either way we have a huge matchup taking place next week as Anderson and Barrett meet one on one for the belt. See you then folks!
