NWA Hybrid Pro TV Results: 26/04/2013[/u]
Welcome to NWA Hybrid Pro TV. Tonight we begin the search for our first Television Champion though 4 four way matchups, the winners of which advance to Matthews vs Lesnar to decide who will be our first NWA Hybrid Pro Television Champion!
Grudge Match
"The FN Machine" Brian Cage vs Rey Mysterio
This match came about as a result of Cage turning on Mysterio in the Scramble Tag Cup match last week to join The Pistols, with Cage going on to win that tournament alongside Matt Taven. Mysterio started off fast, taking some risks as he looked to end this early, but Cage is a force and was able to get Mysterio onto the mat and toss him around with power. Mysterio is known as the ultimate underdog, a man who can overcome almost any opponent bigger than himself, but he didn't have an answer for the power of Cage on this night, and when Cage nailed Weapon X, Mysterio couldn't kick out before 3. Cage pins the former 7 time Junior Champion clean in the middle of the ring, and this is certainly a massive win for him.
Winner- Brian Cage
Post match Samuray Del Sol runs out as Cage holds Mysterio in place on the mat. 450 SPLASH! Randy Orton runs out to make the save but its too late, the damage has been done. Will Mysterio still be good to go for the 8 man tag this Monday?
"The Prodigy" Mike Bennett vs "The Project" Tommaso Ciampa vs Sin Cara vs "The Real Showstopper" Michael Shane w/ "Big Rig" Brodie Lee
We effectively had a tag team matchup here, as The Pistols pairing worked together throughout and had sharp teamwork, forcing Shane and Cara to team up to battle them. Cara was given a significant beatdown by The Pistols duo, before he got a hot tag to Shane who was able to fight them both off, albeit with some help from "Big Rig" at ringside. Shane and Ciampa ended up fighting outside the ring, knowing that in 2 days they'd be battling for the tag belts, and in the ring Cara managed to stun Bennett with a La Mistica, making him tap out in what some may say is a surprise win for him to advance in the tournament.
Winner- Sin Cara
Ricochet vs "The Viper" Randy Orton vs "Pure Lightning" Josh Raymond vs Wade Barrett
A really fun little matchup, and while Orton and Barrett may be teaming in 2 days at Matthews vs Lesnar, they showed no loveloss here, both wanted to be crowned the 1st TV champion and mixed it up with each other, as well as their opponents. Ricochet's death defying moves wowed the audience, he may very well have stolen the show here, while Raymond showed his technical skill to match his high flying, celebrating everything and anything he managed to hit like it was the greatest thing ever. But there was something greater for him to come, because after locking Ricochet in the Sharpshooter, and forcing him to tap, he advanced in the tournament.
Winner- Josh Raymond
Post match Raymond ran around the ring celebrating, even doing some crowd surfing which the fans were happy to help him with. Raymond is slowly but surely winning the support of the New Jersey fans through his sheer enthusiasm for everything he does it seems.
QT Marshall vs Matt Taven vs Jack Swagger vs Paul London
Much like the 1st tournament match, this one felt more like a tag match, as The Pistols duo of Marshall and Taven teamed up against Swagger and London. But this one had its differences, for a start Marshall and Taven were not as well oiled a machine, as Marshall hasn't been part of the group as long, and Swagger and London also struggled to work cohesively as a team. Eventually the match broke down as London and Taven battled away and Marshall locked horns with Swagger. Swagger looked like he had this sewn up when he nailed the Doctor Bomb on Marshall. But out of nowhere, LONDON NAILS THE SHOOTING STAR PRESS ON SWAGGER! 1-2-3! London advances to the final by pinning Swagger, and he cannot believe it.
Winner- Paul London
A promo airs for the debut of "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero. In the video, Dinero is seen preaching before an entire room of followers, promising eternal salvation at Matthews vs Lesnar for all. What will we see him do this Monday?
"The Angel of Death" Azrieal vs Chris Sabin vs TaDarius Thomas vs "The Shooter" Vordell Walker
4 really exciting competitors in this one, all competitors who have breakout potential when it comes to the future of Hybrid Pro. Walker was dominant in this one early on, destroying everyone with those vicious punches of his, as well as some nasty Suplexes and submissions, this match seemed like a foregone conclusion. However, Chris Dickinson decided to make an appearance, pulling Walker outside the ring and brawling with him, as the two started tearing it up around ringside. Azrieal decided to take matters into his own hands, nailing a Suicide Dive onto both Walker and Dickinson to take them out! In the ring Sabin grabs Thomas and drops him with the Cradle Shock, getting the 1-2-3 and becoming the final man to advance!
Winner- Chris Sabin
So the 4 way at Matthews vs Lesnar will be between Sin Cara, Josh Raymond, Paul London and Chris Sabin, the winner being crowned the first NWA Hybrid Pro Television Champion!
Kyle Matthews is backstage with Jimmy Bower
Bower: Kyle, Christopher Daniels again had some strong words for you, accusing you of being scared to face him at The Great American Bash and indeed being too small to be a Heavyweight Champion. How do you respond to his claims?
Matthews: "First of all Daniels, am I really the scared one here? I offered to face you at South Beach's next show in a match of your choosing, and not only did you ignore me, you accused me of being the scared one because I won't face you months into the future instead. But that wasn't what bugged me Daniels, what bugged me was what you said about how you'd have no chance of winning the belt on a territorial show. What bullshit, Daniels, where did CM Punk defeat Sheamus for the NWA World Heavyweight Title? At an NWA Impact show, in other words A TERRITORIAL SHOW! To say you couldn't win the belt on a South Beach show only proves that you aren't championship material, a real champion would believe they could win this belt anytime they so wish!
As for your little comment about my weight, this isn't the dark ages like when you were a young wrestler Daniels. Just because your bitter that you never got to challenge for heavyweight titles back in your day doesn't mean that wrestling has to revert to 1985. Gone are the days where big muscle bound guys are the only ones allowed to compete for top belts, anyone can be a champion because its not size that matters, its skill and connecting with the fans that help you make it in this business. But hey, that just the opinion of the "vanilla midget" who made it, and not the middle aged guy ripping off Crash Holly's old gimmick! What's next, are you going to call yourself a super heavyweight?
So I'm going to say this one more time Daniels in case your 43 year old skull couldn't comprehend it the 1st time, be a man and face me at the next South Beach show in a match of your choosing. Because if you don't, you are NEVER getting a shot at this belt as long as I am champion. Why? Because you don't believe in your ability to beat me anytime, anyplace, and therefore you aren't worthy of calling yourself the best in the world!"
Bower: Onto my second question now Kyle, as you well know Alberto Del Rio and indeed Brock Lesnar have been saying a lot about how you won that title, that being your use of the chair during that matchup, not to mention how you assaulted Brock Lesnar during his matchup against Alberto 2 days before and arguably cost him the title. Last week you again used a chair in your match versus Jack Swagger, leading people to speculate whether you can truly defend that belt without a chair. How do you respond to these claims?
Matthews: I say exactly what I've said already Bower, I beat Alberto clean in the middle of the ring. I didn't need any chair to do that, a chair I might add Alberto brought into the ring himself. As for what I did to Brock, if you thought for one damn minute I was giving up my PPV opportunity for redemption to face Brock Lesnar, your very wrong, and I had to do what I had to finally. And finally Jack, the match was no DQ, don't be bitter that I worked within the rules of the matchup, because you would have done the same thing if you had the chance. Now let me ask you a question Bower, do you think I needed a chair to beat Alberto Del Rio?
Bower: Well..
Matthews: Let me answer that for you, no I didn't. I don't need a chair to beat anyone, I can beat anyone I want with my fists or the Hidaka Lock. YOU HEAR ME! I DON'T NEED A GOD DAMN CHAIR! I'M THE BEST F*CKING WRESTLING IN THE WORLD AND I CAN BEAT ANYBODY CLEAN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE F*CKING RING!
Matthews storm out, that was intense, yet at the same time Matthews seemed flustered. The accusations by Brock Lesnar and Alberto Del Rio appear to be getting to the champ, not to mention the ongoing war of words with Christopher Daniels. Can the champ keep it together on Monday?
BJ Whitmer w/Bray Wyatt vs "The War Machine" Brock Lesnar
This one came about because of Lesnar refusing to team with Whitmer last week, and to be fair on Whitmer, he gave Lesnar a proper fight here, he got his shot in when he could with some big Forearms, and even nailed the Exploder at one point. But Lesnar is a force of nature, you simply can't match him blow for blow for that long, and Lesnar again showed his dominance by tossing Whitmer around with the simplest of ease, at times as if he was a small child. What may be most shocking is how Bray Wyatt didn't do anything to help Whitmer, in fact at times he seemed to be enjoying it, but who knows what goes on inside the twisted mind of Wyatt. After the F5, there was no coming back for Whitmer, who was out for the count.
Winner- Brock Lesnar
Whitmer takes exception to Wyatt's lack of interest in the match, arguing with him as to why he didn't help him out at any point. The rest of The Prophecy come out and get between the two, but Wyatt just laughs, goes outside the ring and gets a mic.
Wyatt: My brothers and sisters, all may not seem well, but soon those who have sinned will know they are on the path to hell with my dear old daddy. You see on Monday, out true purpose will begin to take shape. It will begin with the sacrifice of a sinner by a new prophet, a man who I know will add a lot to our cause. And then, my brothers, our coup de grace will be unveiled next week on Hybrid Pro TV. Because if you thought TOXIC were dangerous, our antichrist will help us destroy everything that is sinful about wresting and life forever!
What is Wyatt talking about. A prophet? And an antichrist? Who is he referring to? I guess we will find out on Monday and indeed next week on Hybrid Pro TV.
NWA North American Title Match
"The Reflection of Perfection" Dolph Ziggler vs Ryback
Ziggler had his work cut out for him tonight in one of his first major title defences, taking on the powerhouse Ryback. Ziggler definitely had the advantage when it came to mat wrestling, he outwrestled Ryback and made sure to let him know about it, posing at every opportunity and showing little respect for him. Ryback made him pay by hitting some of those massive power moves of his, showing all of that raw power of his that makes him such a threat. Ziggler however retained the title, reversing a Shell Shock attempt into the Zig Zag to take the pinfall victory.
Winner- Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler takes the mic post match
Ziggler: Oh yeah, another successful title defence for pro wrestling's newest god, The Reflection of Perfection! I heard that Alberto Del Rio wants a shot at my gold, and I say bring it on. You see Alberto, with your family legacy you had all the chances in the world to be a star, where as I got there all by myself. Why? Because my talent is all natural baby, and I'm gonna be on top forever!
Ziggler throws down the mic and celebrates with his belt, he certainly isn't lacking any confidence, thats for sure. How will Del Rio respond to the cocky words of the champ?
Main Event Tag Team Match, Extreme Rules
"The Machine Gun" Karl Anderson and Sheamus " Fella vs The Prophecy (Bray Wyatt and Dan Maff)
NWA Hybrid Pro officials decided to make this match an Extreme Rules bout due to the hatred between Maff and Sheamus, and with Wyatt and Anderson both being brawlers themselves, there was really no way you could expect order from these teams. And they certainly gave us a fight, Sheamus and Maff fought the entire match and things got increasingly violent, with Sheamus smashing a beer bottle over Maff's head at one point and digging the smashed bottle into his skull, causing blood to pour from his head. Anderson and Wyatt were more ring based, choosing to battle with fists more than weapons, but they were still pretty destructive, Wyatt being knocked loopy at one point by a massive fist from Anderson. Anderson decided to change things by getting a table, going for a Stun Gun from the top through that table. But Maff crotched Anderson, giving Wyatt time to recover. Sheamus grabs Maff as Wyatt TOSSES ANDERSON THROUGH THE TABLE! Wyatt then leaps off the top with a big Splash onto Anderson on the shattered pieces of the table. 1-2-3, Bray Wyatt just pinned the champ!
Winners- The Prophecy
Meanwhile on the outside Sheamus has Maff up for the Celtic Cross. CELTIC CROSS THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE! The fans chant "holy shit" as Sheamus yells out "ITS FELLA TIME". Wyatt shouts at Sheamus, saying that he won't be celebrating come Monday, but Sheamus doesn't care after the retribution he gained here. Will Bray Wyatt become the new NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion? Will Sheamus defeat Dan Maff in the Lumberjack match? And who will win, Kyle Matthews or Brock Lesnar? All this and much more will be answered at Matthews vs Lesnar, make sure you tune in, goodnight wrestling fans!
