Yeah I've been posting early a lot lately, but I'm going to be a little busy tomorrow so wanted to get this out on time. Plus I'm really excited about this particular show and wanted to get it out. Anyways, feedback is appreciated as always.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV 03/05/2013[/u]
Welcome to Hybrid Pro TV. Matthews vs Lesnar is in the books, and oh boy, was it an eventful night. Chris Sabin was crowned our new TV champ, The Prophecy made a sacrifice and Kyle Matthews stunned the world with his vicious post match beatdown of Brock Lesnar. Lesnar suffered a broken arm in two places but is not expected to miss any major time, he's as tough as they come thats for sure. He isn't here tonight but will be at South Beach's show tomorrow night, getting an opportunity to get some revenge on Matthews. But what will we see happen here tonight?
3 Way Debutants Showcase
The Wildcat" Kofi Kingston vs "The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy vs Richie Steamboat
As has often been the case in Hybrid Pro in the past, debutants debut facing each other in the opening contest, and it was the same here, with Hardy having competed in the original incarnation of Hybrid Pro while the others are new to the company. And it was a match filled with high risks, as all three competitors took to the air and took plenty of chances. Yet at the same time you had some quality mat wrestling to, with Steamboat impressing most in that department. Steamboat ended up pulling out what some may call an upset, avoiding a Swanton Bomb from Hardy and nailing the Sling Blade for the 3 count.
Winner- Richie Steamboat
Jimmy Bower has caught up with Kyle Matthews in the parking lot.
Bower: Kyle, can you tell us why you assaulted Brock Lesnar post match on Monday What was your reasoning?
Matthews PUNCHES Bower right in the face and continues on, as Bower lies knocked out on the floor of the parking lot.
"God's Gift" QT Marshall vs "The Viper" Randy Orton
Orton has declared war on The Pistols, and plans to go through all of them to get to the leader, Matt Taven. Marshall was an interesting challenge for Orton, as while less experienced he had a similar style, both being competent brawlers and technicians. Marshall showed his promise here, at times he was able to control the match against a veteran and former 2 time World champion, but his attitude was what lead to his downfall. He poses constantly, showing off "God's Gifts" rather than focusing on the match, and that allowed Orton a path back into the contest. One RKO later and Orton pinned Marshall.
Winner- Randy Orton
As Orton left, The Pistols made their way out, surrounding Marshall. THEY THEN BEAT THE HELL OUT OF MARSHALL! All five stomp away on him before throwing him over the top rope. Taven takes the mic.
Taven: Thats what you get for letting your head get big Marshall. This is wrestling, not a pose down. Had you not let your ego get in the way of your judgement, you'd have pinned a former NWA World Champion, just like Brian Cage did on Monday. Your services are no longer required, we will replace you with someone who is just as focused on wrestling as we are!
Paul London is backstage with Lenny Leonard.
Leonard: Jimmy Bower is out of commission for the night, Kevin Nash has taken over from me on commentary while I handle interviewing duties. So I am here with Paul London, and Paul, I believe you had some comments to make towards the American Dragon?
London: Yes I do Lenny. Dragon, at Ring Warriors Wednesday night, I proved my point, that for all your so called talent and work ethic, your still the 3rd best student from the Texas Wrestling Academy. Me and Spanky showed why we are former World Tag Team Champions, and you showed why you will never be a World champ, we both have more chance of achieving that honour that you do. But I'm not done with you yet Dragon, you see you cost me the Hybrid Pro Television Title, and I want revenge. Thats why I'm challenging you to a match, anytime you want it, any place you want to have it. I await your response!
Before the next matchup, Matt Taven comes out, and has comments for the opponents of The Pistols, Josh Raymond and TaDarius Thomas.
Taven: Josh, Josh, Josh, why are you teaming with this chump. TaDarius Thomas is a never were, 32 and yet still isn't anywhere in this business, while your still a young guy with all the potential in the world. Come on, drop the stooge and join us, you could be a big part of the future of this business.
Raymond looks like he's seriously considering it, even standing alongside Bennett and Ciampa and smirking at Thomas. He then punches Taven right in the face! Bennett and Ciampa attack, but eat a Capoeira Kick from Thomas as the match gets underway.
Non-Title Match
The Pistols (Mike Bennett and Tommaso Ciampa) vs The Lightning Express (Josh Raymond and TaDarius Thomas)
Bennett and Ciampa were definitely a little flustered by Raymond's actions early on, as the Lightning Express showed their unique style, combining the kicks and submissions of Thomas with the high flying and technical prowess of Raymond. And with Raymond celebrating everything, the crowd were really into this contest. Bennett and Ciampa got back into it though, isolating Raymond with power and some holds that wore him down, with Thomas encouraging the crowd to cheer for him. Raymond used the power of the cheers to fire up, celebrating his escape from a Sleeper by Bennett by hitting a massive Dropkick. He tags Thomas who cleans house with kick after kick on the two, only to eat a Boot from Ciampa. Raymond makes it back in and hits a Taliban Backpack on Ciampa, but Bennett follows it with a Box Office Smash. Thomas is up as Bennett goes for the same thing on him, but Thomas turns it into a rollup, 1-2-3, UPSET!
Winner- Josh Raymond and TaDarius Thomas
Bennett is stunned as the so called "chump" Thomas pinned him, proving that he's still has a lot of potential as a competitor. The Pistols are 0-2 tonight and may need to get back to the drawing board ahead of the next match. Meanwhile The Lightning Express have almost definitely earned a title match against the champs with this win.
"The Reflection of Perfection" Dolph Ziggler makes his way to the ring with North American Title in hand, as the crowd boo. Ziggler gets a mic.
Ziggler: Oh yeah baby, the all natural "Reflection of Perfection" is in the house. And after I once again successfully defended the North American Title against Jack Flabber on Monday night, I proved that I'm the greatest NWA Champion of all time. With Alberto Del Rio too scared to decide when he wants to fight me, I need a new challenger to lose to me instead, thats why I'm issuing a challenge to anyone who thinks they can take this belt away from me
"The Shooter" Vordell Walker decides to answer the challenge, coming down to the ring and taking the mic from Ziggler.
Walker: Ziggler, you may be the most pathetic man to ever hold NWA gold, you don't frighten me one bit. I just won a shoot fight against one of the toughest men in the NWA in Chris Dickinson, and your not half the fighter he is, so what do you say that you and me fight it out right now and decide who's more worthy of that belt?
The fans like that, but Ziggler certainly didn't.
Ziggler: How dare you, first of all, I have an amateur background that makes you look like a true amateur in comparison, and secondly outside of one fight what have you done to earn a title shot? Nothing, thats what. Maybe if you can win a number one contenders match I'll give you a shot, otherwise get the hell out of my ring!
Walker laughs, THEN PUNCHES THE CHAMP! He locks Ziggler in the Juji-Gatame as Ziggler taps like crazy, doing anything he can to get out of the hold. Walker releases Ziggler and grabs the belt, admiring it before tossing it to the grounded Ziggler. Will this beatdown force Ziggler into giving Walker a shot at the belt? Or will we see Walker defeating some other contenders first? We will find out next week.
Grudge Match
Rey Mysterio vs Samuray Del Sol
Mysterio has wanted to get his hands on his former client for weeks, and finally had that opportunity here tonight. And it definitely came across like a present vs future battle, with Mysterio showing that experience and timing his chances better, while Del Sol was a bit more reckless and got caught out when flying through the air a few times. Mysterio however isn't the athlete he once was, and Del Sol isn't even in his prime yet, so the longer the match went the more it went towards the upstart challenger. And when Mysterio missed his Dropping the Dime legdrop, Del Sol took full advantage, quickly nailing a Samuray Kick followed by the 450 to stun Mysterio and win clean.
Winner- Samuray Del Sol
Del Sol leaves with his arms raised as Mysterio shakes his head, and gets the mic.
Mysterio: A lot of you fans may know me as Rey Mysterio, but you may also know me as Oscar Rubio, husband and father of two wonderful children. The more that time passes and the more my knees get banged up, the more I realise that I don't want to end up crippled, to be unable to enjoy time with my family and spend my life in a wheelchair. So I've decided that this is the right time to call it quits, I am officially retiring from professional wrestling aged 38. Some of you might be sad about this, but the Mysterio name will live on in wrestling, and even if he did betray me, with luchadors as talented as Samuray Del Sol around, wrestling is in safe hands. Thank you all for your cheers, your boos and your kindness, goodbye!
Mysterio walks out to a standing ovation from everyone in attendance, with the locker room emptying to applaud as well. One of the greatest high fliers of all time has retired, leaving a lasting legacy with his 7 World Junior Heavyweight Title reigns, and no doubt he will have an important role to play backstage in NWA Hybrid Pro. Thank you Rey Mysterio.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV Title Match
Chris Sabin vs Wade Barrett
Sabin's first title defence was a tough one, taking on a man who is intent to win gold in 2013 and prove that the Barrett Barrage is in full swing. It was a definite clash of style, as the high risk style of Sabin clashed with the fists of Barrett, who used both power and strikes to control the contest. Things worked out about even in this one overall, with the strength and weaknesses of both complementing each other, and with both being even on the mat to it went right down to the wire. Eventually as Barrett looked for a Wasteland, Sabin escaped and tried to get Barrett up for a Cradle Shock, but before he could the time limit expired, leading to a draw!
Winner- Time Limit Draw
The fans chant "5 more minutes", but it isn't happening tonight. The two exchange a tentative handshake, but this one is far from over, we are bound to see a rematch down the line.
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
The Pistols (Brian Cage and Matt Taven) vs 2 Dudes (Michael Shane and Brodie Lee)
While the Bennett/Ciampa duo of The Pistols defeated the Dudes at Matthews vs Lesnar, that duo lost earlier this evening, giving the opposition and the fans hope that we might get a title change this evening. And the Dudes certainly brought the fight, as Lee used all of that power of his and Shane brought the flying and mat skill. Shane however was again the target, taking a beatdown as The Pistols looked to avoid a fight with the big man Lee. Lee however eventually got tagged in, and came damn close to pinning Taven following a Brodie Bomb broken up by Cage. Shane also came close to pinning Cage with a Sweet Shane Music, but Cage got the ropes. Lee went for a Boot on Cage, but missed, and Cage somehow managed to nail the Weapon X on Lee, showing all of that power of his, pinning him for the 3 count to retain the titles and continue his recent hot streak.
Winners- The Pistols
Main Event 6 Man Tag
The Prophecy ("The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero, Dan Maff and "The Angel of Death" Azrieal) w/Bray Wyatt vs "The Machine Gun" Karl Anderson, Sheamus "Fella" and Jack Swagger
The Prophecy again had to battle off Sheamus, who was joined by a man who he hasn't gotten along with in the past in Anderson, the two forced to unite to combat their unique threat, while Jack Swagger has also been involved with the fight against the group in the past. Maff and Sheamus still seem to be far from settling their war, as the brawl between the two spilled all around the ringside area. Azrieal brought a different quality to the match with his high flying, using some high risk moves on his brawling opponents, while Swagger was able to outwrestle everyone thanks to that great amateur wrestling skill of his. Dinero and Anderson seemed to mix the various styles of their opponents, mainly brawling but also going at it on the mat early on, a field where Dinero may have had a slight edge even if he ate the fists of Anderson shortly afterwards. Bray Wyatt proved to be the decisive factor again, distracting Sheamus and allowing Maff to nail a massive Half Nelson Suplex on him, followed by the Burning Hammer to get 3 and another pinfall win over Sheamus!
Winners- The Prophecy
Post match, Bray Wyatt takes the mic.
Wyatt: My brothers and sisters, I am a man who always fulfils his promises, I promised you all that the antichrist himself would be revealed tonight, and he is here. He need no introduction, because when he reveals himself you will no longer be able to ignore The Prophecy. Come on out my antichrist!
A whole army of druids surround the ringside area and chant, as a figure dressed in a long dark robe walks out. He is hooded so we can't see his face. He is also carrying a large black bag of some kind.
Wyatt: Now my antichrist, would you like to reveal to the world exactly who you are.
The figure delves into the bag, pulling out a chair covered with blood stains. He then dips into the bag one more time, AND PULLS OUT THE NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE, NO, IT CAN'T BE! The figure takes off his hood and says.....
"My name is Kyle Matthews, and I am the antichrist of professional wrestling"
