The spirital fires return as Shaman opens the show, Black Ninja is still recovering from the black mist from Overdose. This means that the winds of change are blowing as a new champion of Independent Union needs to be crowned. Tonight will feature all tournament matches which will help to bring a champion to the top of the Union!
The announce team welcome everyone watching to the show, and echo what Shaman said about tonight featuring nothing but tournament matches. The main event of the evening being an emotional affair as Hannibal, who's a dear friend of Black Ninja, faces off against Overdose! Not only will this be a chance for Hannibal to gain a measure of revenge for his friend, but winning the match will send him into the next round of the tournament towards the Independent Crown! Also tonight the Independent Union will have a special PPV, featuring more tournament matches! The main event of the PPV will be a gauntlet for the gold, for the Independent Union Jr. championship, six men will enter but only one will step out as the Jr. champion! But now it's time for the opening contest.
This was the opening match of the show as well as the tournament to find a new carrier of the Independent Crown. This tournament spans almost the entire Union, so Ryozo and Talon are getting thrust into an immediate big fight atmosphere. Talon was a bit smarter coming into this match knowing that he cost himself his debut match last week. Ryozo may be new to the Union as well but he had a "zen like" composure looking extremely focused. The opening moments were a great display of chain wrestling, both men looked solid with their exchanges but Ryozo would break away and score with a vicious kick to the head of Talon. Ryozo is likely an incredible chess player because he moves three steps ahead, rolling up Talon, realizing Talon is going to kick out and immediatly applies a leg lock to keep control of the match. Talon was able to find sanctuary in the ropes, using his speed to avoid Ryozo and score with a springboard reverse DDT that almost scored him the win. Ryozo started to fall apart a bit once his battle plan started to break down, something he'll learn to control with more experience. Talon was able to give Ryozo the same harsh lesson he learned just one week ago, and took the match with an imploding 630 to score the win!
Dakota is known as the Mid-West Wildman, with his wild and unkempt hair and beard. He looks like a lunatic. Even though Unknown was on a high from winning his first match last week, he was no match for the power of Dakota. The Wildman's style is erratic and he uses his fists to pound his opponent into submission with clubbing blows that welt Unknown's exposed skin. Unknown tried to use his encycopedic knowledge of submission holds, but Dakota would power out each time finishing off Unknown with a big boot that almost took his head off!
The fan favorite Kappa had the crowd behind him as he faced off against the scary and horrific looking KAMI, the summon from the deadly Overdose. Kappa has so much speed and agility, flipping and keeping his distance from his fellow spirit. KAMI uses a very unrefined fighting style, which maybe a nod to how old the spirit actually is, as he rushes Kappa with palm strikes before finishing off the assault with a roaring elbow! Kappa was stunned by the older spirit's strength and tenacity, KAMI kept coming and Kappa wasn't able to escape the grip of the dark summon. KAMI was able to drive Kappa's head into the mat viciously with a Ganso Bomb to pick up the victory.
If you were wondering why MINORI got such a high spot on the card, you were quickly figuring out why. MINORI is intense and even though Specter is a hybrid athlete, who is used to strong style, he was still taken back by the skill of MINORI. Specter is a scrapper though and was able to use questionable tactics to get back into the match. Specter wasn't happy that his last match in the Union saw him lose to the psychopathic, Claw. Specter would hit a regal plex on MINORI with a sickening thud that almost got him the win but MINORI was still able to hang into the match. Specter had the match in hand at this point picking apart MINORI, smirking arrogantly as he looked to hit the chokebreaker to finish him off. MINORI was able to break the grip on his throat hitting Specter with a strike rush, roaring back to life in a big way getting the crowd excited as MINORI hit a kick that dropped Specter but was only able to get a two count. MINORI kept on Specter grabbing him by the hair hitting him with rapid fire kicks to the face before stepping back and hitting a huge soccer kick! MINORI signalled for the end but Specter was able to lay back dodging the brunt of the rolling sole kick, getting back to his feet trying for a clothesline but MINORI would duck and hit a release german suplex! Specter crumpled and in a daze his instinct to get to get up kicked in and it gave MINORI the chance to nail the rolling sole kick as Specter was trying to stand, giving MINORI a hard fought win!
Annie Maye tries to follow Hannibal out of the locker room, but Hannibal stops her and instructs her to stay behind. Annie looks concerned but Hannibal explains the danger of being around Overdose, and reminds her of what happened to someone as powerful as Black Ninja.
Overdose came to the ring with another scroll, this one looking older, wrapped in chains and locks. KAMI held onto the scroll on the outside as Overdose stepped into the ring awaiting his opponent for the evening. Hannibal was wearing black again honoring his friend, Black Ninja, against the man that put Black Ninja out of the Independent Union. Hannibal was out for revenge with fire in his eyes, usually the fun loving high flyer his dark side was on display as he tried to punish Overdose. Hannibal was in control for the beginning of the match wasting little time to assault his friends attacker. Overdose would only smile as he absorbed the beating, causing Hannibal to fume, making mistakes that Overdose would make him pay for. Hannibal looked fearful as Overdose would spew black mist, not at Hannibal but just as a show of force. KAMI was a statue on the outside holding onto the scroll, watching his summoner pick apart the heroic Hannibal. The fans were actually screaming and some weeped as Hannibal fought with everything but his passion made him sloppy enough for Overdose to finish him off with a glimmering warlock putting the hero down.
After the war in the ring KAMI would hand the scroll to Overdose who would run the scroll against the chest of Hannibal as one of the locks on the scroll would pop. The three remaining locks hold tight, Overdose would stick out his tongue showing off the black poison as the announcers push for the purchase of the FIVE DOLLAR PPV later tonight!
