Post by Dustin Smith on Jun 18, 2013 2:56:17 GMT -7
The show opens with NWA President, Dustin Smith in the middle of the ring with a mic in hand. He's not his usual smiling self this week.
Dustin: Let's cut right to the chase... Brock Lesnar I need you in the ring...
Mike Tenay and Ricky Morton are freaking out that the NWA President is asking for someone as volatile as Lesnar, but Lesnar makes his way down to the ring looking like the
Dustin: Brock you were screwed out of winning the NWA World Heavyweight title, and now you've been screwed out of winning the North American title as well. That's why I've decided to give you another shot at the North American title at the Great American Bash!
Tenay and Morton put over what was just said until John Cena's music hits and the West Newbury Native makes his way into the ring with a mic in his hand.
John Cena: Whoa whoa whoa... whoa! Wait a minute, you're telling me and all these fans that it's ok for Lesnar to screw ME out of a shot at the World title and you're going to give HIM another shot at Ziggler? I deserve a title shot!
Dustin: ...you're right John. I bet you also want a piece of Brock for screwing you out of your shot...
Cena: You're damn right!
Dustin: Right, so I've just decided that the North American title match at Great American Bash will be a Brock Lesnar vs. North American champion, Dolph Ziggler vs. JOHN CENA! It's going to be a triple threat match, BUT until then if either of you lays a hand on the other you'll lose your spot in the match. I don't want you guys killing each other before the Bash, now shake hands!
Lesnar extends his hand and Cena plays to the crowd like a face. Eventually Cena shakes hands with Brock, but Lesnar pulls Cena in and grins like a serial killer before saying something inaudible that makes Cena flash with anger. Dustin forces them to seperate as the show cuts to it's first break.
SINGLES MATCH
"American Made" Derrick Bateman vs. "The Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce
"American Made" Derrick Bateman vs. "The Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce
Derrick Bateman makes his EMPIRE debut against a veteran in this industry in the Scrap Iron. Bateman came out waving an American flag with huge aviators on while "Real Man's Man" plays in the background (Regals old WWF theme haha). Pearce immediatly rushes Bateman while he tries to hand off the flag to a ring crewman! Scrap Iron isn't in the mood for this new comers hijinx as he shows Bateman a little prowrestling 101 with some basic holds and throws that look crisp. Then Pearce got a little cocky slapping at the face of Bateman who was stunned by being tossed around the ring like he was in his first days of training. The taunting and slapping from Pearce became too much for Bateman who would "hulk up" and rip off his REO speedwagon shirt throwing heavy hands at Pearce before scoop slamming and hitting the running leg drop! This isn't the 80's however, or even the 90's or TNA so of course Pearce is going to kick out as Bateman would grab and shake the ropes contining to fire himself up but Pearce would kick Bateman in the gut when he turned around before spiking him with a piledriver to pick up the win.
Lena Yada is looking hot tonight as she stands with her Rockstars of Wrestling .
Lena Yada: My Rockstars are former World Tag Team Champions, it's about damn time my Rockstars get the titles back. I will do ANYTHING! anything... to get my Rockstars another run as the World champions. Only one team came come out of the main event tonight to get a spot in the four corners match at Great American Bash. When it comes to the big stage the only real choice is a Rockstar!
TRIPLE THREAT
AR Fox vs. Mistico vs. "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards
AR Fox vs. Mistico vs. "Die Hard" Eddie Edwards
Growing up this is the kind of match I would watch wrestling for, a few hungry young wrestlers who bring so much heart into the ring, and work their asses off to put on a great match. It's hard to write a match the way I see it unfolding, lots of high flying moves that either don't have a name or it's something spanish I can't begin to pronounce. Edwards was hard hitting and the least nimble of the three but he still showed his ability to fly around the ring, boosting himself with that hard hitting never say die attitude. Mike Tenay would put over the feud betweeen Mistico and Caleb Konley over while on commentary as Mistico went on a tear in the ring sending Edwards out of the ring with a dropkick while Fox would scramble away to catch his breath at ringside. Mistico would sail out of the ring with a senton on Fox standing up and celebrating with a fan at ringside wearing a Mistico mask. The fan at ringside would sucker punch Mistico, ripping off the mask to reveal that it's Caleb Konley. Konley would hop the guard rail continuing to punish Mistico as Fox and Edwards would intervene forcing Konley to scurry away, the ref let the match continue after checking on Mistico and Fox and Edwards would give him enough space for a "restart". The match continued at a great pace with Mistico shaking off the attack moments earlier, although Tenay would replay the attack for "those who may have just joined us". Edwards would go to the top rope but would get shoved out of the ring and through a table at ringside by Fox who was a little shocked at how violent his action actually was. The distraction gave Mistico the chance to capitalize with Fox turning around into La Mistica, forcing the submission as the mystery from Mexico would come away with a win after a wild contest.
The show cuts to the locker room with the Briscoes
Jay Briscoe: Atlanta, tonight my brother and I, we're in a match. Ya see at the Great American Bash there's a four corners match, for the NWA World Tag Team Titles. But to make it to the Bash, Dem Boyz are gonna have to lay down an ass whoopin'! Tonight is a little pray-lude a little spoiler of what's going to happen at the Boston Garden when we capture the tag team titles for a second time!
SINGLES MATCH
"BuzzSaw" BJ Whitmer vs. Jeff Hardy
"BuzzSaw" BJ Whitmer vs. Jeff Hardy
This match wasn't as intense as the last but it was still a very solid match. Whitmer got a nice rub from this match due to how violently Hardy would sell his vicious offense. Hardy was able to get some offense in, playing the desperate hero to his "creatures" who seem to infest arenas giving Hardy an extra loud pop when he's involved. Hardy looked like he got KO'd with a buzzsaw kick from Whitmer but somehow Hardy would get his shoulder up as he continued to fight. Hardy would feed off the crowds energy coming with his unortodox style that would stun Whitmer who almost fell to the Swanton bomb but Whitmer would hand on as well and after a counter exchange Whitmer would nail a wrist clutch exploder that hit with such authority that Hardy would crumple from the impact, before Whitmer would pin him to the mat, pushing his elbow into the face of Hardy to hold him down for the three.
The shot cuts to the locker room of LAX. The Mexican flag draped in the background.
Chavo: It's been 11 long years since I've been a champion here in the NWA, and it's felt like an eternity. Super Mex doesn't know what it's like to hold World championship gold and it's just making him hungry. The other tag teams in the main event don't have our mixture of power and speed and that will give us the advantage. Tonight is ours, tonight Hernandez and I will fight with warriors spirit and after 11 long years a Guerrero will have a World title around their waist!
SINGLES MATCH
Abyss vs. "The Young Dragon" Richie Steamboat
Abyss vs. "The Young Dragon" Richie Steamboat
Steamboat would give a sigh but wouldn't show any signs of backing down as the monster Abyss would come to the ring. Abyss would over power the young Steamboat taking advantage of the 135lbs. weight advantage! Steamboat would try to hit an arm drag that made his father made so famous but Abyss wasn't moving as he'd counter with a brutal clothesline. Abyss was relentless as he continued to whip Richie around like a rag doll. Eventually Adam Pearce would come to the ringside area getting a closer look at the match. Steamboat would score with a dropkick that would stagger Abyss, so he kept it up hitting a few more dropkicks before coming off the ropes and hitting a dropkick to the knee of Abyss cutting the monster down where Steamboat would focus on peppering Abyss with rapid fire kicks that the monster would absorb and eventually pick up and drop Steamboat with a jackknife style powerbomb. Abyss would signal for the end, whipping Steamboat off the ropes hitting the black hole slam with Pearce cringing on the outside, but amazingly Richie would do enough to get his shoulder off the mat to break the count. Pearce would get closer to the ring watching as Steamboat would weakly throw punches at Abyss fighting on pure fumes, only to get driven to the mat with another black hole slam this one did it as Steamboat had nothing left to kick out with.
Abyss would skulk out of the ring and Adam Pearce would grab the boot of the beaten Steamboat pulling him out of the ring, putting an arm around the Young Dragon helping him to the back.
TAG TEAM MATCH
TOXIC (Bobby Fish & Sami Callihan) vs. Corey Graves & Randy Orton
TOXIC (Bobby Fish & Sami Callihan) vs. Corey Graves & Randy Orton
Orton and Graves didn't look to really want to tag, but as they say "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" so that's how we go this odd couple pairing. Orton has a knack for being a hired gun just like his father, and when focused Randy is efficent. Graves was looking for personal revenge in this match trying to punish TOXIC for his violent dismissal from the faction. Fish and Callihan are a pair of incredible competitors but they just didn't mesh well as a team, so the playing field was pretty even. Orton's RKO came out of nowhere putting Fish down for a three count, with Callihan trying to break it up but Graves would cut him off. Callihan and Fish would scatter as Orton looked to make good on his word as a hired gun and inflict more punishment. Orton would smirk smuggly at making TOXIC run but Graves would hit him with a kick to the midsection following up with a DDT. Graves is a lone wolf now and he doesn't need anyones help not even the enemy of his enemy.
NWA WORLD JUNIOR TITLE MATCH
Brian Kendrick vs. "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson(c)
Brian Kendrick vs. "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson(c)
These two guys took the ball tonight and ran with it, they have wrestled each other all over the world and know each other so well. The opening of the match was just a crazy amount of counters with the face off at the end getting a great pop from the crowd but Kendrick would just pound away at Danielson with forearm shots not wanting to slow the pace down. Danielson looked for the submission victory a few times trying for either the crossface chickenwing or the cattle mutilation but Kendrick of course has it scouted and evaded each time. Kendrick would try for sliced bread but Danielson would fight it, working Kendrick into a regal plex for a near fall. Danielson tried to work his way into a submission but Kendrick would slide to the outside only to have Danielson follow him out of the ring. Kendrick was able to bring himself back into the match hitting sliced bread on the floor at ringside with a sickening thud. Kendrick knew he had to take the oppotunity rolling Danielson back in the ring trying so hard to get the win but Danielson was able to kick out! Kendrick would smack the canvas in frustration before sizing up Danielson for what looked like a superkick but Danielson would duck the kick and sling Kendrick to the mat where he'd start raining down vicious elbows MMA style that were so brutal that the ref had no choice but to end the contest.
Joel Gertner shakes in fear as he is forced to try to get an interview with Ruthless Intent, Giant Bernard and Luke Gallows but neither man looks to want to talk as they just make their way to the ring.[/color]
FOUR WAY TAG TEAM MATCH
LAX vs. The Rockstars of Wrestling w/ Lena Yada vs. Briscoes vs. Ruthless Intent
LAX vs. The Rockstars of Wrestling w/ Lena Yada vs. Briscoes vs. Ruthless Intent
There was so much riding on this match as the winner would get a spot in the match at Great American Bash to face off against another couple challengers as well as the NWA World Tag Team Champions! Chavo still has an evil streak that allowed him to be swayed by the Rockstars to work together to eliminate the biggest threat (literally) in Ruthless Intent and eventually Gallows was softened up by Hernandez enough for Chavo to finish him off with a frog splash! Jimmy Rave would capitalize and slide in rolling up Chavo, pulling the tights to steal an elimination. This brought the match quickly down to two teams that absolutely hate each other, their paths have run along side each other for months now, they've even joined the World champs in passing around the tag team titles. The Briscoes rushed the ring giving no mind to the tag rule as they just wanted a piece of their long time enemies, and with so much on the line how could you blame them? The ref lost control of the match but let the teams go knowing that it'll take a lot of call for a DQ with so much riding on who comes out the victor. Lena Yada got on the apron living up to her claim of doing anything she can to help her team. Mark Briscoe was going to let her have it with a right hand causing the ref to try to protect the "lady" while this was going on Jimmy Rave would get the time keepers bell hammer tossing it to Morrison who would blast Jay Briscoe with the hammer! The evidence was dumped as Yada hopped off the apron. The ref would realize there was a pin and go for the count but somehow Jay Briscoe would kick out! Everyone but Rave was stunned, and Rave would try to finish off Jay with a pedigree style move but Jay would fight out and try for the Jay driller only to have Morrison nail a superkick that would put Jay down as Rave would fold Jay up for the pin and the advance to Great American Bash!
