NWA Hybrid Pro TV: Japanese Invasion 13/07/2013
Welcome to the Japanese Invasion of Hybrid Pro! Tonight, a whole host of the biggest names in Japanese wrestling get in the ring with the best Hybrid Pro and indeed the NWA have to offer, looking to prove themselves worthy of future opportunities in the NWA. Lets jump straight into what will be a very interesting night of action
USA vs Japan
The All Night Express (Kenny King and Rhett Titus) (South Beach) vs Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima
What an opportunity for The All Night Express, getting into the ring with one of Japan's most popular veterans, as well as his protégé who is widely considered one of the best young wrestlers on the planet. The experience of Sasaki shined through here, and combined with the energy of Nakajima and the great wrestling skill both men have the ANX had trouble. But ANX have great teamwork from the many times they have teamed, they pulled out some great double team moves and showed why they are a part of the resistance movement against The Prophecy. Indeed it looked like they were going to get a massive upset win by hitting Nakajima with the One Night Stand, but before they could Kyle Matthews wandered out holding up the NWA Title, as the rest of The Prophecy also came out with him. The distraction allowed Nakajima to escape and hit Titus with a German Suplex, and Sasaki to recover and drop King with a Northern Lights Bomb. That was enough to give the Japanese duo the win.
Winners- Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima
Afterwards The Prophecy looked like they were going to get involved and give a beatdown to The All Night Express, but Sasaki and Nakajima defended their beaten opponents. Sasaki and Nakajima then challenged The Prophecy to put two more of their members in the main event match, and they would join The Legends side. Matthews accepted, and the main event has gotten that much bigger.
NWA Hybrid Pro Challenge Belt
"The FN Machine" Brian Cage vs Daisuke Sekimoto
Sekimoto was a whole different kind of challenge for Cage, with Cage having been so focused on competition here in the US, how could he prepare for a match with a Japanese competitor, especially one who is maybe not as well known as the average puro star. Cage made a very good account of himself however, hitting hard and going move for move with the poweful Sekimoto. In many ways this was a sort of mirror match, as Sekimoto and Cage work out about the same in terms of weight even if Cage had a slight height advantage, and the two love to employ power moves as well as wrestle on the mat, and both showcased that here, it was such a difficult match to call. Cage however just about pulled it out, hitting Weapon X after avoiding a Sekimoto Moonsault. Successful defence number 2 of 5 for Cage!
Winner- Brian Cage

Japan vs Switzerland
Yuji Nagata vs Antonio Cesaro
While Nagata may be in his mid 40's at this point, he shows no signs of decline, and in the ring with one of the finest technicians on the planet in Cesaro he more than held his own. It really worked out to quite even here, Cesaro perhaps had a slight edge when it came to chaining holds together, but Nagata's submissions cancelled that out. And when it came to big hits, they were completely even again, Cesaro's uppercuts being matched by Nagata's kicks. Both men took a nasty beating, but in the end Cesaro pulled out a tremendous victory, dropping Nagata with the Neutralizer for 3.
Winner- Antonio Cesaro
Japan vs The World Junior Tag
Team Japan (Jushin Liger, Naomichi Marufuji, Kota Ibushi and TAKA Michinoku) vs Sami Zayn, Prince Devitt, Kenny Omega and Rocky Romero
A massive Interpromotional tag team match here, with 4 of he best high fliers in Japan, including the legendary Jushin Liger, taking on 4 of the best high fliers from the rest of the world. Undoubtedly the highlight of the match was the exchange between Zayn and Ibushi, with Omega and Ibushi also wowing the audience with some amazingly crisp high flying exchanges. Liger didn't spend a lot of time in the ring, but what we saw of him showed that while he isn't the same in terms of high flying, his wrestling skills are as great as ever, with Devitt and him having some fun exchanges in particular. Marufuji and Michinoku showed their experience by timing their attacks well, especially when the match broke down into a melee late on, and Romero also timed his shots well with some big kicks and submissions. Team Japan pulled out a massive win in the end, as Ibushi scored the decisive fall on Romero following a Golden Star Press.
Winners- Team Japan
Both team exchanged handshakes afterwards in a great show of respect, something we wish we would see more often here in Hybrid Pro.
6 Man Youth vs Experience
Shinsuke Nakamura, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Satoshi Kojima vs The Pistols (Mike Bennett, Tommaso Ciampa and Zack Sabre Jr)
The Pistols just love to proclaim that any wrestler with major experience is a has been and has to retire immediately, and in their 3 opponents tonight they had 3 men who they were taunting in the exact same fashion before the show. This is despite the fact that Kojima is only 42 and his partners are in their mid 30's, so its more than a bit disrespectful and did lead to the Japanese team trying to teach their young opponents a lesson. When it came to pure wrestling skill, outside of Sabre The Pistols were a little outmatched, but the match was way more even when it came to power and striking, neither team really having an edge in that regard. The Pistols also have that wonderful little thing called luck at the moment, they are getting all the right breaks, and they did again here when Kojima accidentally nailed Nakamura with a Lariat, taking him out of the ring. Sabre dived onto Nakamura as Ciampa and Bennett dropped Kojima and Tanahashi with Project Ciampa and the Box Office Smash respectively, pinning both clean at the same time. Wow!
Winners- The Pistols
First Time Ever
Paul London vs KENTA
What a matchup we had here, two of the finest junior heavyweight competitors on the planet stepped into the ring with one another, and this was very difficult to call. The two were about the same experience wise, and while you'd say KENTA had the advantage in terms of being able to hit hard, London cancelled that out with his aerial advantage, and the two worked out even on the mat. It really came down to who wanted it more in the end, and right now it was London, the man wants success and wants it now, and he took the win in this one following a Londons Calling.
Winner- Paul London
London took the mic post match.
London: Yet again, Bryan Danielson hasn't answered me. Your a coward Danielson, your someone who plays himself up as a fighting champion who will take on all comers, yet you won't give me my shot. I've beaten you once Dragon, and you've beaten me once, so why don't we end this thing. Answer me Dragon, I'm waiting.
London waits in the ring, as if expecting the champ to answer him here and now, kind of difficult to do when Bryan Danielson isn't actually in attendance. However, Kyle Matthews, minus The Prophecy, makes his way to the ring instead.
Matthews: Paul, relax, I'm not here to fight. You see, I know EXACTLY what your going through. For months, I called out Alberto Del Rio in order to get a shot at this belt, and for months he refused to answer, refused to acknowledge me as a threat or even being worthy of his time. To get a shot at his belt, I had to get his attention, and when I did, this belt was practically mine. Thats why Paul, I want to offer you my help. Join The Prophecy Paul, and Bryan Danielson will no longer be able to ignore you, nor pretend you don't exist. Because when he's on the receiving end of a beatdown from The Prophecy, he will be forced to give you what you want or give up his career! The choice is yours Paul, take some time to think about it and when your ready, make the smartest decision you'll ever make.
Kyle Matthews drops the mic and leaves, with London looking puzzled. Will London do the unthinkable and sell his soul to "The Antichrist"? Or does London still have enough sanity left to stay on the right path?
Winner Represents Japan in the World Cup of Wrestling
Go Shiozaki vs Takeshi Morishima
Two top tier Japanese talents here who are most definitely in their prime as far as skill is concerned, and both would be excellent representatives of Japan in the World Cup of Wrestling in just 2 weeks time. Morishima is a beast, a man who's power is very hard to match, and while Shiozaki is hardly a small man he was pretty much dominated in this matchup. Shiozaki had to try and take this match to the ground instead, taking the match to the mat and trying to wear down the big man. It worked to some extent, but when Shiozaki missed a Moonsault, his fate was al but sealed. One vicious Backdrop Driver later, and Shiozaki was down for the count. Takeshi Morishima will represent Japan in the World Cup of Wrestling!
Winner- Takeshi Morishima
Vengeance, NWA Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title Match
Karl Anderson vs Johnny Gargano
This one has been coming ever since Gargano formed his anti-Prophecy movement, Gargano has made no secret that he wants Anderson to be part of the group, while Anderson has made no secret that he'd rather have his career ended than join Gargano's movement. And throughout this match, Gargano continued to try and convince Anderson, applauding a lot of his wrestling skill and even trying to stop the match to say they don't have to do this and can be on the same side, but Anderson was having none of it, if anything this made Anderson that much more angry. The shenanigans by Gargano grew to the extent that the fans actually started booing him and cheering on Anderson even more, a man who has fought hard for everything he's got and doesn't want to become anyone's stooge. Gargano paid for his lax attitude to this match, as Anderson nailed a Gun Stun out of nowhere when Gargano took way too long to go for a Hurts Donut, allowing Anderson to retain the title.
Winner- Karl Anderson
As Anderson celebrated with a beer, Gargano got to his feet and applauded, how delusional is Gargano at this point if he thinks Anderson gives a damn about his cause. Anderson drops Gargano with a Lariat, then grabs a chair from ringside. GUN STUN ON THE CHAIR! But Anderson isn't done, he grabs another chair, and this might be going a little too far. CONCHAIRTO TO A GROUNDED GARGANO! Anderson leaves, the fans utterly molten for his every move as Gargano lies bloodied on the canvas. As Gargano is carried out and Anderson leaves, The Prophecy make their way out as Anderson flicks a finger at them on his way past. Its main event time!
10 Man Tag Team Match
The Prophecy ("The Antichrist of Professional Wrestling" Kyle Matthews, "The Real American" Jack Swagger, "The Grim Reaper" Dan Maff, "The Angel of Death" Azrieal and "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero) w/Bray Wyatt vs "The Great Muta" Keiji Mutoh, Masahiro Chono, Jun Akiyama, Kensuke Sasaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima
A real spectacle here, and one you will only see in Hybrid Pro. You had The Prophecy, an American team featuring a man who calls himself "The Real American" in Jack Swagger, being booed senselessly while the foreign Japanese team were cheered as if they were the American heroes. The Prophecy however are more than deserving of the boos they get, as the most despised group in the entire NWA right now, and showed why with some disgusting tactics against some of the greatest Japanese wrestlers ever. The Japanese team wrestled with honour, just wanting to impress the fans and wrestle on the big stage again, with Mutoh looking the best he has done for many years and the rest of the team as sharp as expected, which is especially impressive for Sasaki and Nakajima in their second matchup of the night. The difference appeared to be Bray Wyatt, who's constant interference was a thorn in the side of Team Japan, that was until Wyatt made a fundamental mistake. He had Mutoh setup for the Splash Mountain in the corner, but Mutoh pulled Kyle Matthews in the way and Wyatt squashed the antichrist in the corner! Wyatt was pulled out as Matthews fell to one knee, SHINING WIZARD! 1-2-3, MUTOH JUST PINNED THE WORLD CHAMPION!
Winners- Team Japan
Post match as Team Japan celebrate and leave, Matthews calls The Prophecy into the ring, a look of psychotic anger on his face. He points at Bray Wyatt and nods, ANS THE PROPHECY ATTACK WYATT! They beat the living hell out of him 5 on 1, and I guess this is what you get if you mess with the champ. The show ends with Maff delivering a Burning Hammer to Wyatt and Matthews locking in a Hidaka Lock, screaming that he will NEVER be pinned again! Will he end up being pinned at The Great American Bash? Or will he retain the title and with it the power to kill the NWA whenever he so wishes?
And just before we leave, its been confirmed that next weeks Hybrid Pro TV will be headlined by Kyle Matthews vs Keiji Mutoh, and if Matthews is still World Champion the belt will be on the line!
