The show started off with highlights from NWA's Great American Bash. It showed clips from each of the championship matches, and ended with Cody Rhodes winning the CPW Championship after his brother, Dustin cost RVD the match. Cody came out wearing a suit and holding the CPW Championship over his shoulder, to a house full of boos and 'You Screwed RVD" chants. He said he couldn't believe that his brother.. his own flesh and blood could have done such a hennas act! He said that his match at the Bash was going down in history as one of the BEST championship matches in the HISTORY of the NWA! Better than then the Steamboat/Sheik match, better than the Flair/Garvin matches, and even better than the Flair/Steamboat matches!! He said he was working the 'Match of the decade", but alas it will have to settle for "Match of the Year"!
RVD came out and said he knew he wasn't gonna win that match. He said he saw the writing on the wall. It was all pointing to Cody winning, but he felt that Dustin had a point when he made that call. He said Dustin knew Cody better than anyone else, and he was willing to trust and exploit that knowledge.
RVD went on to say that he was granted a re-match for the CPW Championship. RVD said he demanded that he first face Dustin in a cage match next week! RVD said that once Dustin is out of the way, he will regain the CPW Championship!
Cody said he was aware of the match, but that he was going to assign the referee for that cage match.... HIMSELF!
RVD smiled as he left and the fans started chanting "RVD!" "RVD!" "RVD!"

Eric Bischoff made his way out and said tonight would be the beginning of the King of the Ring tournament! This year it would again be a round robin tournament, with the top 4 competitors from CPW facing off with the top 4 from around the NWA in the final matches. He said any competitor form the NWA was eligible, so long as they were showcased in a sanctioned "King of the Ring Qualifying Match".
He said the ranking would be updated as the tournament went on and would conclude on August 25th at the Bound for Glory iPPV held at the Gerstein Pavilion in Los Angeles, California!
He called Edge out and said he was heading to spend some time with his son, so control of CPW for the time being was being handed to ..
Before Eric could finish, Edge started to thank him for the opportunity to show what he can do.
Eric told Edge that it was Shawn Michaels that he was leaving in charge for the time being. Edge was stunned, as Michaels made his way out. Shawn thanked Eric and they left as Edge was visibly angered at the announcement.
