A very basic show here I will admit, but thats what i wanted to go with as far as NEXT goes: a basic, no thrills show showcasing young talent. That and I've been very ill today, so couldn't put as much thought into this as I wanted to.
I will add NEXT will only running roughly 1-2 times per month at most, these won't be regular things, but I will make NEXT 2 a bigger deal.
NWA NEXT: 31/07/2013
Welcome to the return of NWA NEXT, a promotion that focuses around the very future of the NWA, with a show at least once a month showcasing the best of the youngest and underutilised performers in the NWA. Tonight we will see some of the very best young talents from around the NWA in action, in a series of matchups that have been chosen at random. Our main event however is very much set in stone, as The Pistols of Samuray Del Sol and Zack Sabre Jr defend the NWA North American Tag team Titles against The C & C Wrestle Factory of Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander. Lets get to the show!
TJ Perkins (South Beach) vs Jake Carter (Superstars) vs TaDarius Thomas (Free Agent)
An exciting 3 way opener here between 3 competitors with very different styles. Perkins took the aerial approach, speeding past his opponents and taking them down with fast paced offense, Carter used his size advantage to overpower his opponents, and Thomas looked to lock in any number of submissions as well as use some big kicks. Carter ended up taking the fall, as Perkins locked him in the Figure 4 Deathlock to make him tap.
Winner- TJ Perkins (**3/4)
AR Fox (Free Agent) vs Wes Brisco (CPW)
A real clash of styles here that you will only get in NEXT: you had Fox, the epitome of what independant wrestling is all about, innovating any which was he could with some death defying high flying manoeuvres, and then you had Brisco who fits more with the sports entertainment style, trying to slow the match down and keep ox grounded. Brisco's ego got the better of him, he posed one too many times, and Fox took advantage to hit the Krunch to get a big win. Fox will have done a lot to get noticed here by beating a CPW superstar!
Winner- AR Fox (**1/4)
"The Kentucky Gentleman" Chuck Taylor (South Beach) vs "God's Gift" QT Marshall (Free Agent)
Being employed, you'd think Taylor would have the advantage here, however he hasn't wrestled a match in South Beach since June 16th while Marshall has been competing regularly on the indy scene, so there was a lot more to this one than meets the eye. Marshall dominated a lot of this in fact, his mat skills were sharp and equalled Taylor's, while his weight advantage allowed him to throw Taylor around with ease. But this is New Jersey, a place where Taylor has taken some beating and made a name for himself, and he fought back with heart and determination as well as the support of the fans, and he picked up a win with the Awful Waffle.
Winner- Chuck Taylor (**1/2)
Tony Nese (Ring Warriors) vs Bo Dallas (CPW)
Nese looked far from happy to be back in New Jersey, but against the cocky second generation athlete Dallas he was effectively the face by default, if only because of his fantastic wrestling ability. Dallas had a far more basic approach in this one than Nese did, but that didn't make his approach any less effective, he was an even match for Nese on the mat and in almost every other department. Nese however would come out of this one on top, hitting his Reverse Piledriver to pick up the win.
Winner- Tony Nese (**1/2)
Nese took the mic post match-
Nese: So you may be asking why I decided to come back to this dump of a state again. Well, I have a little grudge to settle with a certain group called The Pistols. You see, I joined Hybrid Pro on the promise from Matt Taven that I would be made into a superstar as part of The Pistols, that my unlimited potential would be fulfilled, and my star in the business would be made. And what happened? 1 week later I was traded back to Ring Warriors and replaced by some kid from the UK who isn't even half the athlete I am. I am wrestling's Premier Athlete, and I want you Pistols in a match for the North American Tag Team Titles the next time NEXT decides to run a show. And I sure as hell don't want the B team like you've got tonight, I want you Matt Taven, and I want the so called unstoppable Brian Cage, so I can beat him and prove he's a loser just like the people of New Jersey!
Nese tosses down the mic as the fans give Nese hell for his words. I have no doubts The Pistols will accept, the question is who will Nese's tag partner be?
Xavier Woods (Free Agent) vs Curt Hawkins (Ring Warriors)
Woods is a guy who just can't catch a break in any promotion, no matter where's he's wrestled he's almost always been on the losing end of the stick and shortly after been released. Hawkins was having similar luck until recently, where Ring Warriors brought him in and he's had a solid run there ever since. The two had a solid if unspectacular match, which was more entertainment than wrestling based in its approach, as the two locked horns on the mat and tried to win the approval of the fans in attendance. Woods ended up having his bad run of luck continue as Hawkins got the win, getting 3 after the Heat Seeking Elbow.
Winner- Curt Hawkins (**3/4)
Before the next match, Alex Riley took the mic.
Riley: A lot of might be thinking what I'm thinking: why is Alex Riley on a show like this? Well, its because I've never been given a true shot to run with the ball, to be the man in this business. I know I can do it, I mean look at me, I have the looks, the talent, the charisma, and yet in CPW I've never truly reached the next level, consigned to tag teams and putting over the real stars. Well that ends today, because the real A-Ry is here, and ready to become the superstar he knows he can become. And Trent Barreta, your just my first victim!
Big words by Riley, can he back them up?
Alex Riley (CPW) vs Trent Barreta (Ring Warriors)
Riley definitely has a different attitude here in NEXT than we've seen, he's arrogant, full of himself and truly believes he is the best thing going in NEXT. He got a shock however because Barreta was definitely not a pushover, he used his high flying and mat wrestling abilities to take the fight Riley, who's posing and attitude almost cost him dearly. Indeed had it not been for a fortunate rope break, the Dudebuster DDT may have put Riley away. he instead managed to fight back, drop Barreta with the Final Score, and get a big win.
Winner- Alex Riley (**)
Mark Haskins (Superstars) vs Mike Sydal (Free Agent) vs ACH (Southwest) vs Papadon (Ring Warriors)
As fantastic a 4 way match as you will see here in NEXT and indeed anywhere in the NWA, these four men wanted to make their names and they certainly stepped up to the plate in a big way. ACH was the standout, this man is capable of things in the ring that defy belief, and he had the fans on their feet on many occasions here. The others all played their parts here to however, Haskins showed good skill on the mat and in the air, Sydal took a similar approach and did so well, and Papadon took a more ground based approach, using his weight advantage over the rest to his advantage which he combined with solid matwork. ACH got a massive win following the Best 450 Ever on Sydal.
Winner- ACH (***1/2)
Rich Swann (Free Agent) vs Sami Zayn (Hybrid Pro)
Swann is somehow a free agent, though is taking part in the Ring Warriors Toughest Warrior tournament at present, and he was always going to be up against it against a man who has captured the imagination of the New Jersey fans in Hybrid Pro, Sami Zayn. And what a matchup this was, the innovation on display by both men, especially Swann lead to some utterly death defying high flying, the fans were on their feet time and time again and chanting "this is awesome" on several occasions. Swann proved he can hang with the best in this one, but Zayn was the one who won after a Springboard Tornado DDT.
Winner- Sami Zayn (***3/4)
NWA North American Title Match
The Pistols (Samuray Del Sol and Zack Sabre Jr) (Hybrid Pro) vs C & C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman (CPW) and Cedric Alexander (Free Agent))
Our main event was a big matchup in the careers of Coleman and Alexander, Coleman has had a great run in CPW, though never broken through the glass ceiling to get to the next level, while Alexander has barely had any kind of opportunity to shine in the NWA. The two both knew that opportunities like this don't come along often, and a win here would write them into the NWA history books. And they gave it their all, yes their teamwork wasn't as crisp as that of The Pistols, yes they aren't the youthful team that The Pistols are, but they had heart and determination, as well as vital experience which played the match into their hands. Del Sol and Sabre had to work damn hard to hold onto their belts, Del Sol was flying around the ring and Sabre was doing his best to keep their opponents on the mat, yet C & C just wouldn't quit. After Coleman came within an inch of a victory after hitting a Thermal Shock on Sabre, the pin being broken up by Del Sol, Del Sol managed to drop Coleman with a Samuray Kick, and that kept Coleman down for 3.
Winners- The Pistols (***1/2)
Post match the fans gave C & C Wrestle Factory a standing ovation, as The Pistols shook their hands and raised their arms. A great way to end our show, who knows when NEXT will be back next, but we are sure to see some top notch action the next time we return to New Jersey. See you then folks!
I will add NEXT will only running roughly 1-2 times per month at most, these won't be regular things, but I will make NEXT 2 a bigger deal.
