This was the report filed by Brian Jones who saw the show.
Jones: I went and saw the South Beach show tonight at the Donald L. Tucker Center here in Tallahassee. I hadn't been to the last show that ran here and I'm not really all that familiar with the product as I don't watch TV very often, so I didn't really know what to expect; but after reading the report that Jim Pressley filed on Sunday I knew I had to come.
Overall this was a great show and if South Beach ever decides to come back to the Tallahassee area I will DEFINITELY be buying a ticket. The people in Gainesville are in for a treat on Sunday.
- The arena was mostly filled and the merch stands had stuff from all over the NWA. I'm talking about replica JPP tag title belts, the lucha masks from NWA Mexico that were at the Pensacola show, and a bunch of awesomely designed shirts. DEFINITELY going to have to come back here at intermission.
- South Beach Champion Low Ki came out and said that Sunday proved just how little honor there is amongst thieves. He calls out Jay Lethal, who comes down to some nice applause, and tells Lethal that he would be honored to defend the South Beach Title against him. CM Punk comes down and says that's nice but he wants a shot at the title. Kaz comes down and says that if anyone is going to be facing Low Ki its him. South Beach TV Champ Jimmy Jacobs comes down and says that we should make this a fatal four way match with the winner getting a shot at Low Ki's title on Sunday.
- The first match of the night was announced as a King of the Ring series match with Kofi Kingston coming down first, but halfway to the ring he was ambushed by Hybrid Pro Challenge Belt holder Brian Cage! Cage would proceed to lay waste to Kofi outside the ring before rolling him inside it and telling the ref to ring the bell! The ref would and Cage would immediately pounce on poor Kofi and hit him with Weapon X for the Pin and the win. After the match Cage would get a mic saying that he NEVER tapped out to Austin Aries and that he would not be losing in this tournament.
- The second match of the night was a tag team match in the King of the Ring series as Karl Anderson of Hybrid Pro and Caprice Coleman of CPW would face off with Austin Aries of IU and Damien Sandow of South Beach. Sandow looked like he didn't feel like wrestling "intellectual troglidytes" but under the threat of more punishment from management decided to participate after all. Sandow kept trying to talk down to Karl Anderson and for being such a genius Sandow sure acts like a moron. After a decent back and forth match Anderson would pin Sandow following a Stun Gun. After the match Aries would look at Sandow in disgust and hit a brainbuster on him! This was a bad night for our supposed savior.
- The former World Tag team champions, Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly, came down next and Adam shouted about how he hated the fact that people from other territories were taking up his spot on the card. He then dared anyone involved with the King of the Ring to come down and face them. Uhaa Nation would come out to a good reaction from the crowd and BY GOD that guy is a monster, and for some reason the former champs looked unimpressed! Adam said that one man couldn't stop two tag team champions. Suddenly the lights went out and when they came back on THE UNDERTAKER was standing in the ring and said "How about one man...and a phenom?" Future Shock looked scared to death but a ref was in the ring already and started the match. I gotta give the 2 time former champs credit, they gave it their all, but these were the wrong two people to piss off. Nation hit what someone in my section told me was called the Uhaa Combination on O'Reilly as Undertaker hit a tombstone on Cole for the win.
- Next up a guy who I had never heard of was in the ring. Dude looked like a toothpick with body parts. Is that guy a fan? Next all the lights went out and this weird guitar riff started playing. A guy with a lantern came out and everyone gasped. Someone said this was Bray Wyatt, that crazy guy who cut that creepy promo on Sunday. He had a mic in his hand and told the person, who he called Franz Ferdinand to do as that crazy band that he was named after sang and take himself out before he was sent along the path that all the dead pigeons take on the way to the gates of judgement. Time will not be on his side because even his family will not be able to follow the buzzards to find his body. By god this guy is creepy...its unnerving. Franz stayed in the ring and this one was over in the time it took to type that sentence. He kissed poor Ferdinand on the head and shouted GO WITH OUR SAVIOR before hitting what someone said was Sister Abigail for the win. He just kneeled over that poor sap's body with his arm's spread and the lights went out. They came back on and said that it was time for intermission.
- I went to the merch stand and picked up some South Beach souvenirs as well as an Ultimo Guerrero mask (it was the coolest looking one they had) before grabbing some grub and heading back to my seat in time for them to promote the tv shows from across the NWA.
- The next match was a CPW affair as Matt Hardy squared off with Colt Cabana. Both men had something to prove after losing to Caprice Coleman on Sunday and they did a good job of working the match. Eventually Colt Cabana would win by making Hardy tap to a reverse Boston Crab.....man that looked like it hurt. Good match overall but by now the crowd was getting kind of restless for the three main matches on the card.
- The sixth match of the night saw Justin Gabriel square off with Wes Brisco in a King of the Ring series contest. I don't know much about Brisco, but I do know that it was a mistake for him to try and take to the skies with Gabriel. Wes would attempt a cross body but Gabriel would duck, land a sickening kick to the head and hit a BEAUTIFUL 450 for the pin and the win. Gabriel would stay in the ring as the ref handed him a ref shirt as Scott Steiner made his way to the ring for his match with IU's Chris Hero.
- Make no mistake about it, Hero vs. Steiner was a B-R-A-W-L and eventually Gabriel gave up on trying to keep each man in line and let it go wherever Steiner and Hero wanted to. There was some controversy on the finish as Hero confronted Gabriel after a two count that he thought was slow after hitting a unique looking wrist lock, scoop slam sitout piledriver that would knock most men loopy. Gabriel told him that there was no slow count and from my angle the count looked okay. Steiner would hit a low blow and roll up Hero forcing Gabriel to count the pin for the win. Cheap win for Steiner but a win is a win. Hero and Gabriel was made for this coming Sunday's house show in Gainesville.
- The eighth match was something everyone was looking forward to as Alex Riley took on Tyler Black. I know that Riley has been in a tag team with Antonio Banks in CPW for a while and he even appeared on an episode of NEXT, but other than that I don't know much about him. Black has a grunge look and kinda looks like an emo kid all grown up. Riley came out really aggressive but Black looked to be the more experienced wrestler of the two and almost looked like he was pacing himself....and he was as Riley's burst of energy eventually ran out and Tyler went on the attack. Black hit some really unique looking offense and looked ready to hit a super kick but Riley ducked and about took his head off with a clothesline! Riley would waste no time in hitting a fireman's carry cutter and pick up the win! Man that was an upset! Good match by both guys.
- The final match was the number one contender's fatal four way to see who would face off against Low Ki at the house show on Sunday. There was SO MUCH ACTION that it was almost hard to keep track of everything. Low Ki was sitting at ringside trying to get a feel for who his opponent might be. Kaz and Jacobs kept trying underhanded tactics but every time kept getting thwarted by Punk and Lethal. This match went about 30 minutes and the crowd was into every single second of it. Jacobs would try to rush CM Punk but Punk would use his momentum to throw him over the top onto Kaz! Lethal would come up behind Punk and hit a Dragon Suplex for the victory to become number one contender! After the match Lethal would celebrate as Punk stood in the middle of the ring watching him. Eventually Jay would walk up to Punk and extend a hand. Punk would hesitate but eventually take it and raise Lethal's hand as the ring announcer thanked everyone for coming.
Overall this was a great show and if South Beach ever decides to come back to the Tallahassee area I will DEFINITELY be buying a ticket. The people in Gainesville are in for a treat on Sunday.
