Southwest Championship Wrestling
Episode 12
Episode 12
*scene opens to a sold-out Reliant Center Arena, the fans are definitely in a rowdy mood tonight. We head down to the announce table, and our boys, Tony Brooklyn and Sign Guy.*
Tony Brooklyn: Good evening, wrestling fans, and welcome to Southwest Championship Wrestling! Yes, the name of the show used to be World Class Championship Wrestling, but a new era in Texas Wrestling is about to dawn. All will be revealed when the CEO of Southwest Sports, Tom Gorgas, gets here. Meanwhile, we got us a hell of a show tonight, right Guy?
Sign Guy: Damn right, we do! Here’s the line-up-
Bolt Brady takes on Mike Dell
The NWA Texas Tag Team Champions Carlito and Hunico, take on the team of Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez, in a non-title match.
Phill Shatter tangles with Jeff Hardy in a Last Man Standing Match.
And, in a match made on the last show by Tom Gorgas himself, Matt Morgan defends the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title against Jaykus Plisken.
Tony Brooklyn: Without further ado, let’s head to the ring for the first match, and….LET THE ASSKICKING COMMENCE!!!!
Bolt Brady vs Mike Dell
Nice little match to start the show off with. Brady and Dell wound up brawling all over the arena, both men matching the other’s moves with pretty effective counters. Brady nailed Dell with the Manhattan Project in 10:24 for the win.
Match Rating: 3.5
Carlito and Hunico vs Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez
This was the NWA Southwest debut of Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero, Jr. And they made the most of it, taking Carlito and Hunico to the limit in this non-title match! The two teams seemed to worked well together, and I see future matches between these two. This match wound up going out of the ring, and so intense was the action, that neither team was paying much attention to the count, finally getting counted out!
Match Rating: 2.5
Last Man Standing Match
Jeff Hardy vs Phill Shatter
Jeff Hardy vs Phill Shatter
This match was mandated by Tom Gorgas after the events that transpired at the last show, and these two tore into each other with unbridled fury. The rules of this one were simple: The one that answers a ten-count wins. So this became a matter of survival. Hardy utilized all the aerial moves in his arsenal to best effect, but Shatter grounded him with multiple PTSD’s, getting the ten-count in 10:14 when Hardy couldn’t continue.
Match Rating: 4.25
NWA Texas Heavyweight Championship
Matt Morgan vs Jaykus Plisken
Matt Morgan vs Jaykus Plisken
Morgan was demanding some competition for his title, well, he got it in this one! Plisken used his speed advantage to keep Morgan off balance, but Morgan was able to land some heavy artillery. Plisken, however, was undeterred, and pressed his attack, suddenly landing the Painbreaker out of nowhere for the win!
WINNER OF THE MATCH, AND NEW NWA TEXAS HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: JAYKUS PLISKEN!!!
Match Rating: 4.0
While Plisken was celebrating, Tom Gorgas came out to the top of the ramp, mic in hand.
Tom Gorgas: Well, well, well. Congratulations on the win, Jaykus. Unfortunately, you’re going in the books as the last NWA Texas Heavyweight Champion. We lost our lease on the venue, and have to move. We’re moving to Houston, and we’re also renaming the promotion, bringing back one of the legendary names in Texas wrestling. Starting with the Labor Day show, we are now Southwest Championship Wrestling, or SCW if you will. Our next show is the Labor Day Star Wars show, and here’s the lineup:
Vance Archer, you my friend, get a mystery opponent. Who it is, well, you’ll find out at the show.
Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez looked pretty impressive this evening in their match against the Texas Tag Team Champions. So much so, that they’re going to get a crack at Carlito and Hunico again, and this time it will be for the Southwest Tag Team Championship!
Jeff Hardy and Phill Shatter, you two had one hell of a match this evening. At Labor Day Star Wars, you two are going at it once more, this time the Southwest TV Championship will be on the line!!!!
Plisken, you and Morgan are going at it one more time, this time in a 2 out of 3 falls match, for the Southwest Heavyweight Championship!
Get your rest, guys, because come Labor Day, at the Reliant Center Arena, the war continues!!!!
