NWA Hybrid Pro TV 23/08/2013
The Two Man Band (Heath Slater and Zack Ryder) vs The Briscoes (Jay and Mark Briscoe)
You know those tag team where you have two completely different personalities, yet somehow they just click, for example The Rock and Sock Connection, Booker T and Goldust, Kane and X-Pac, the list goes on. Ryder and Slater's Two Man Band may very well be another of those teams, because for all these two's failings as singles wrestlers they somehow click as a team, their goofy approaches meshing and in turn their in-ring styles. The Briscoes are really low on confidence at the moment following a string of big losses, and coming up against this new team they struggled at times it had to be said, yet still showed signs of the brilliance that brought them the NWA World Tag Team Titles in the first place. After hitting a bizarre combo of the Smash Hit and Rough Ryder on Mark which they called the Encore, they got the 3 count to their utter astonishment!
Winners- The Two Man Band
The Two Man Band celebrate a momentous win for them as if they had won the entire internet, while The Briscoes looked almost embarrassed to be out there. They need to take a long look at themselves it seems and decide how they are going to move forward.
Vanilla Midget Challenge
"Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce vs Flip Kendrick
Pearce once again gives a so called "vanilla midget" a chance to try and beat him, and if they can then they will earn a roster spot in Hybrid Pro. But much like last week's destruction of Jigsaw, this one was pretty much Pearce bullying and beating the hell out of a top young indy talent. Kendrick gave it his all no doubt and got a few moves in on Pearce, but in the end Pearce dropped Kendrick with a Piledriver to pin him 1-2-3.
Winner- Adam Pearce
Pearce however wasn't done. He grabs Kendrick again, and gives him a second Piledriver! He then grabs a steel chair, and I don't like the looks of this. PILEDRIVER ON THE CHAIR! Pearce again proving how sick a human being he is as Kendrick is attended to by medical officials, he's a bully and this tirade against the young, talented high fliers of the indy scene needs to stop.
The Pistols all make their way out to the ring, minus the injured Zack Sabre Jr and most notably, Brian Cage.
Taven: As you must all know by now, we The Pistols are the most talented group of up and coming stars in the entire NWA. However, there are also some unwritten laws that our faction has in place. The first is that win or loss we will always fight with honour and integrity. And the second is that there is no I among us, we are a TEAM and nobody is above our combined selves. That is why I would like to call out Brian Cage to discuss what we consider breaches of our unwritten laws.
Brian Cage makes his way out, TV Title over his shoulder as the fans boo.
Taven: Brian, you know that we have all the respect in the world for you, you've come a long way since you joined The Pistols, however over the past few weeks you have begun to worry us. Your ego is clearly growing, that winning streak that you've worked so hard to obtain has taken over your whole being, and you no longer seem to realise that this is a team operation. But what worries me more is that you've attacked opponents after matches as well, mainly Zack Ryder last week. You've breached both of our unwritten laws, and really i should kick you out here and now, but I want to give you one last chance Brian. Apologise for your actions, and I'm willing to overlook this and keep you onboard.
Cage: So what you saying Matt is if I apologise, I can stay a member of The Pistols?
Taven: That's right.
Cage: Well Matt, there's only one thing I have to say to that in that case. I QUIT! I don't need you losers anymore, if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't be holding those North American Tag Team Titles right now. I'm the NWA Hybrid Pro TV Champion, and I've outgrown this group of so called future stars. Try defending those belts without an "Unstoppable FN Machine" with an untouchable undefeated streak!
Cage throws down the mic and goes to leave, BUT THE PISTOLS ATTACK HIM! They beat him down 5 on 1 as the fans love this. Bennett nails the Box Office Smash, which Ciampa follows with Project Ciampa, then Taven picks up the nearly limp Cage for a Taven Effect. Del Sol and Nese climb up to the top. DUAL 450 SPLASHES! Cage has been completely annihilated as Taven takes the mic.
Taven: Consider this your personal resignation. Oh, one more thing, as my final act as your "leader" I'm going to give the OK for the referee to start your next TV Title defence against TJ Perkins RIGHT NOW!
TJ Perkins runs out as a referee also makes his way out. There's no way Cage can compete in this condition.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV Title Match
"The Unstoppable FN Machine" Brian Cage vs TJ Perkins
Perkins waits for Cage to rise to his feet, but Cage isn't moving, obviously still knocked out from the brutal 5 on 1 beatdown by The Pistols. The referee check Cage and lets his arm drop once, twice, THREE TIMES, BRIAN CAGE IS OUT, TJP WINS AND THE STREAK IS OVER!
Winner- NEW Hybrid Pro TV Champion, TJ Perkins
TJ Perkins celebrates with his newly won title, he didn't really have to do anything to win it, but a win is a win and he's sure as hell going to take it when a title is involved. Cage on the other hand will be fuming when he comes around, both with losing his title and indeed the way The Pistols pretty much cost him that title and his streak.
Johnny Gargano is backstage with Lenny Leonard.
Leonard: Johnny, tonight The Prophecy have challenged you to a ten man tag team match, now forgive me if I'm wrong but there are only four members of The Group. Doesn't this put you in a handicap situation if you accept?
Gargano: Ordinarily it would Lenny, however I had a feeling Kyle would pull something like this out of his bag of tricks, so I came prepared. Say hello to our special tag team partner for one night only, the man who will beat Kyle Matthews and save the NWA, Low-Ki!
Low-Ki makes his way in.
Low-Ki: Kyle Matthews, for too long you have reigned over the NWA in an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, with nobody willing to stand up to you for the sake of the NWA and that title. Well I am the person who will stand up to you and will take you down. I know that this Sunday, the fate of the entire NWA lies in my hands, if I don't beat you then the NWA is history, but this is a burden I am willing to take on my shoulders. If I fail and the NWA dies then I will take all of the blame, but I know I won't fail. You are looking at the next NWA World Heavyweight Champion!
Grudge Match
The Pistols (Mike Bennett and Tommaso Ciampa) and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs Da Baldies (Karl Anderson, Giant Bernard, Luke Gallows and Antonio Cesaro)
The Pistols are still joking away about what they did to Brian Cage earlier on, but this match was no joke for them. Da Baldies have been on a tear in Hybrid Pro and nobody has been able to stop them. Such has been their dominance that The Pistols and The Young Bucks decided to put aside their difference and team up to take on the four bald and dangerous individuals. It was a wild matchup, you had Da Baldies pretty much completely disregarding the rules and smashing their opponents with fists and weapons, while The Bucks took to the air and did some truly insane stuff, and The Pistols got stuck in there with power and with their own fists of fury. Da Baldies were not to be denied though, they took Nick Jackson and dropped him with a massive four man Powerbomb through a table, having already laid waste to the rest of their opponents, with Anderson pinning him to get Da Baldies another huge win, this time over the current Hybrid Pro tag champs.
Winners- Da Baldies
Da Baldies wanted to continue the post match beatdown, with Bernard and Gallows grabbing kendo sticks to lay waste to their opponents, but Anderson stopped them, saying that they need to save at least some of their opponents for their future title match. The rest agree and the group leave, what domination we have seen here.
The Prophecy ("The Antichrist of Professional Wrestling" Kyle Matthews, Paul London, Jack Swagger, Dan Maff and "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero) vs Low-Ki and The Group (Johnny Gargano, Samoa Joe, Rhett Titus and Kenny King)
Yet another matchup in the series between The Prophecy and The Group, but this time we had the added involvement of Low-Ki from NWA South Beach, the man who will challenge for the NWA World Heavyweight Title in 2 days time in a Last Man Standing match which will determine the fate of the NWA. And much like the previous matchup this one was wild, the referee just stood back and let them get on with it. Matthews tried to stay put of the ring, unless an opponent was down in which case he'd be more than happy to go after them. Joe and London went at it again, London showing as little sanity as possible by mocking Joe throughout the matchup and also trying to goad Low-Ki into the ring by mocking his martial arts and facial expressions, not a good idea at all. Gargano played it smart an picked his shots well, while King and Titus showed off some double team moves that were very impressive. The prophecy isolated Titus and this allowed Maff and Swagger to demonstrate their power and their wrestling skill, with Dinero also getting some shots in while proclaiming the NWA dead in 2 days constantly. Titus finally escaped and tagged Low-Ki, who cleaned house, leaving he and Matthews in the ring. Before Low-Ki could beat the hell out of Matthews, a spotlight hit the ramp and some Mexican music started playing as the champion of all of Mexico El Gran Luchadore made his way onto the ramp, dancing away. The distraction allowed Matthews to attack Low-Ki from behind with a Slurpee Kick, but Low-Ki kicked out before the count of 3. Matthews calls for the Hidaka Lock, but before he could lock it in the music starts up again AND A SECOND EL GRAN LUCHADORE MAKES HIS WAY OUT! Matthews is now the one looking confused, as the second El Gran Luchadore is fuming, pointing at the first one and clearly shouting in English "who the hell are you?" Meanwhile Low-Ki recovers, KI KRUSHER TO MATTHEWS! 1-2-NO, MATTHEWS KICKS OUT! DRAGON CLUTCH! Matthews does all he can to try and escape, but he taps out, LOW-KI WINS!
Winners- Low-Ki and The Group
Low-Ki and The Group celebrate as the second El Gran Luchadore unmasks revealing Azrieal as expected and shout at the imposter some more, AND HE KNOCKS OUT AZRIEAL WITH A PUNCH! The Group are pointing towards El Gran Luchadore and applauding, indicating that they had this one planned from the start, the question is, who is under that mask? The show ends with "El Gran Luchadore" dancing all the way backstage as The Group celebrate some more.
The Two Man Band (Heath Slater and Zack Ryder) vs The Briscoes (Jay and Mark Briscoe)
