Previously In NWA Pacific Northwest: The Heavyweight Grand Prix to determine the inaugural NWA Pacific Northwest Heavyweight Champion kick started two weeks ago with "the All Night Wonder" Chris Wonders (2) defeating the ballroom dancing Fandango (0) to take the initial lead in Block A. In Block B, and in our hard hittting main event of the evening, Roman Reigns (2) toppled Magnus (0). The tag team division got started with a bang when The Usos defeated The Prime Time Players and Alex Shelley defeated Jigsaw in the lone Jr. Heavyweight match of the evening. Tonight, we have an entirely different card for the fans in Seattle, but its importance is just the same!
For the second straight show, we are back in front of nearly 1,000 fans in Room 4C in the Washington State Convention Centre in Seattle, Washington for the second event of the NWA Pacific Northwest promotion. The host of the event, Byron Saxton, welcomes the fans in attendance. Prior to going over the house rules, Saxton tells the fans that he has just been informed that Tyler Breeze has entered the building! Saxton notes that tonight's main event is from Block A in the Heavyweight Grand Prix as Christian challenges Drew McIntyre! However, before we get to that, we first have our NWA Showcase match of the night!
This contest is between "the Machine Gun" Karl Anderson, the current NWA Hybrid Pro Champion, and NWA California Pro's Harry Smith. Smith has been embroiled in a rivalry with NWA North American Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler in the recent past, but he has been unable to come up with the Championship. Perhaps a victory over the Hybrid Pro Champion would be enough to get him back in the hunt for one more match with Ziggler. As one would expect, this was a hard hitting affair with both men attempting to over power one another. The action spilled to the outside, with possibly the highlight of the match having Smith hit Anderson with a suplex onto the floor. Anderson was able to beat the twenty count, though, and get back into the ring. Smith attempted to hit the Saito Suplex, but Anderson countered into a Gun Stun from out of nowhere, leading to the pin and victory at the fifteen minute mark! Following the match, Anderson states he proved tonight he was a true champion and would prove it again when he returned to the Pacific Northwest. He finished it by saying next time, he wasn't coming alone!
Fresh off their victory over the Prime Time Players last week, The Uso Twins, Jey and Jimmy, came to the ring to take on Conor O'Brian and Rick Victor, better known as The Ascension. The match was as interesting as each team's diverse entrance. The Usos made their entrance following their traditional Polynesian War Dance. Their opponents waited for the lights to go dark and entered with flashing, white strobe lights. The contest was even until the eight minute mark when O'Brian and Victor began to take control, picking apart each Uso twin with relative ease. Victor hit Jimmy Uso with a European Uppercut, which sent him right into a Flapjack from O'Brian. The Ascension won right around the ten minute mark. A quick celebration ended as the duo left as mysteriously as they entered.
Previously, ring announcer Byron Saxton announced that Tyler Breeze had entered the building and it was now time for Breeze to debut in the ring! Breeze enters looking like he just left a photo shoot, with his hair in a tight ponytail and big, fluffy boots. While walking to the ring, he is looking at photos of himself on his smart phone. His opponent is TJ Perkins, a high flier who recently signed a contract with NWA Hybrid Pro. It is another hot contest in Pacific Northwest, with Perkins getting a tonne of offence in, forcing Breeze to retreat to the outside of the ring numerous times. He finally used this to his advantage, slamming Perkins into the barricade. In the ring, Breeze hit the Spinning Wheel Kick for the victory at the ten minute mark! Following the bout, Breeze took a photo with his fallen opponent!
Prior to the intermission, we were joined by the Briscoe Brothers, Jay and Mark. Mark grabbed a microphone from Saxton and told the fans to shut up and listen. They were the Briscoe Brothers, once the most dominant tag team in the world. For four months, they were the NWA World Tag Team Champions and they took on all comers, and they were unseated by Future Shock, "who barely qualify as a team." Mark hands the microphone over to his brother, who continues. He states that they were recently in NWA Hybrid Pro, where they couldn't buy a victory against the worst of them, let alone the best of them. So they cut bait, and left! Before he can continue, though, someone shouts "woah woah woah, hold on a minute!" It's Titus O'Neil on the microphone, backed up by his partner, Darren Young. O'Neil states that this is the Pacific Northwest, home to the very best in the NWA. And he says the Briscoe Brothers barked up the wrong tree, and since they couldn't hack it in Hybrid Pro, next week The Prime Time Players will show them that the Briscoes' can't hack it here either and prove why the Players are worth Millions of Dollars! Young and O'Neil do their Millions of Dollars Dance as their music plays!
Just before intermission began, Saxton announced to the fans that he has just been informed that Tyler Breeze has left the building!
It was now intermission time as we prepare for the return of the Heavyweight Grand Prix. Tonight's Block A match and main event of the evening is Christian taking on Drew McIntyre. They are preceded by Block B's Brent Albright challenging Leo Kruger, who replaces Bo Dallas in the tournament, who was unable to compete. The four men are chasing Block A's Chris Wonders (2 points) and Block B's Roman Reigns (2 points), who both opened up the tournament with victories last week. It was also announced to the crowd that the finals of the Heavyweight Grand Prix will
Albright and Kruger were not quick to start as there was a feeling out process for the first few minutes of the match. Each man was attempting to use their submission abilities to their advantage. Albright would control Kruger's arm for much of the contest, looking to lock in his Crowbar armbar, while Kruger was also working Albright's arm, looking to lock in his GC3 Keylock. The even contest ended at the seventeen minute mark when Albright was able to lock on the Crowbar, with Kruger having no choice but to tap! Albright is now tied with Reigns for the lead in Block B!
Finally, it was time for the main event of the evening, with Christian taking on Drew McIntyre. It was a much different main event than the one two weeks ago between Magnus and Reigns. As opposed to the hard hitting affair we saw there, this was a technical bout that was dictated by the veteran, Christian. At the eight minute mark, though, McIntyre dodged a Frog Splash attempt from Christian and hit the Scot Drop, a reverse STO. He went for the cover, but Christian was able to get his hand up before the three count. A few minutes later, Christian hit the Spear, a move he uses in honour of his best friend's forced retirement, Edge. McIntyre kicked out this time just after the two count. In the end, McIntyre set up for the Future Shock DDT, but Christian rolled out of it and hit the Killswitch for the victory at the eighteen minute mark. Christian takes two points and ties Chris Wonders in Block A!
