Jigsaw

This match was the debut for Koslov and Jigsaw's first appearance since his loss to Alex Shelley three weeks ago.  An even contest, which has been the norm throughout Pacific Northwest's short history, ended when Koslov locked on the Red Scare for the victory, picking up some needed momentum in the heated Jr. Heavyweight Division!

versus
The Prime Time Players (Darren Young & Titus O'Neil)

Three weeks ago on the debut show of NWA Pacific Northwest, The Prime Time Players were unable to overcome the high octane offence of the Uso Twins.  Last week at the promotion's second show, the Briscoe Brothers debuted and complained that they were unable to find success in NWA Hybrid Pro, despite being former NWA World Tag Team Champions.  The Prime Time Players told the Briscoe Brothers that Pacific Northwest is home to the very best and tonight would prove that they were worth Millions of Dollars!  Tonight, The Prime Time Players did just that when Darren Young used the Gut Check on Jay Briscoe to win the contest!

Following the match, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin make an appearance on the stage.  They tell the Prime Time Players that they have been teaming together for nearly a decade and they have been one of the best teams in the world, but there is one thing they are missing, and that is the NWA World Tag Team Championships.  Sabin says they came to Pacific Northwest because this is where the competition is, and it looks like the Prime Time Players are first on their list!

Fandango (with Summer Rae)

Fandango made his tournament debut three weeks ago in a loss to "the All Night Wonder" Chris Wonders, unable to overcome the dangerous Wonder Lock.  Christian made his tournament debut last week in a victory over Drew McIntyre.  Christian can take a stranglehold on Group A with a win tonight, and that's exactly what he did!  Despite Summer Rae's numerous attempted distractions, Christian used the Killswitch to gain the victory and improve to 2-0!

Brent Albright
versus
Roman Reigns

Magnus was considered one of the sure bets to win the Heavyweight Grand Prix, but Roman Reigns was able to topple him in a hard hitting affair three weeks ago on the debut show.  Brent Albright is also coming off a victory, this one over Leo Kruger.  Whoever wins tonight have a clear path to the finals, so this match was all important!  Albright is not a small man, but he could not match Reigns strength.  Reigns wore Albright down and finished him off with a Spear, crumpling Albright.  Reigns picked up his lifeless opponent, let out a wild roar as he looked to the skies, arms stretched as far as could be, and Powerbombed Albright to the mat for the victory!  Reigns is 2-0 and has taken over Group B!

Sabin and Shelley have both had super breakout years as singles competitors, with Shelley winning the World Jr. Heavyweight title and Sabin winning at least two Television championships (Ring Warriors and Hybrid Pro), not to mention the break out singles years they've had in real life (Shelley going to the finals of Best of the Super Juniors, Sabin winning the TNA World championship), so I feel it's somewhat of a disservice to them to be going back to tag team wrestling. However, I did say "somewhat" for a reason, and that is because I can see that they need to get on the air, and to do so, tagging is probably the best thing for them in this region until you can find a way to break them up again. I look forward to seeing what you do with them tagging, and then I really look forward to them breaking up again.

Now that that little rant is out of the way, let's get to the rest of this show:

Good opener, as those characters create a nice contrast, and with all of their international influences would surely put on a very smart and entertaining match. I think the right guy won, and hopefully he keeps winning, as it is about time Koslov got some respect in this game. I've probably had him on more rosters than anyone else, or am at least tied with Dustin, so that is really a lampoon on my own booking inefficiencies. Moving on to the tag team match, I really like the Prime Time Players, like I said on the last show, and I approve this push; not that you need my approval, but I'm going to approve it anyway. Fandango is good, but Christian is better. I booked Christian on my last show in a match with Dolph Ziggler because I like him, I think he's a good wrestler, and furthermore, I think he is good TV. Nice to see him picking up two wins in a row, and much like Koslov, I think it's about time he gets some respect, but probably more in his case. And, as I mentioned in posts previous, I like that you've dusted off Brent Albright. It makes me want to do the same with a wrestler who is of wrestling age but is seemingly retired, but I digress. When I saw the heading, I had no idea who would win, but as it seems to typically go, you picked the right man here, as Reigns is a beast and you are making him look like one. He was a free agent for a long time, which I didn't understand. I did my best with him, then Dustin had a crack at it, but I am happy to say I believe he is in the best promotion possible for him.

I kind of have to agree that I think the MCMG are potentially a lot better as singles stars at this point in their respective careers, but at the same time when you have uses for them as a tag team, why not use them that way. Shelley I know had a run with the Junior belt but neither really have had luck as singles stars consistently so being a team again may benefit both. I think the right men went over in all the matches here, your use of Reigns has excited me and I'm pulling for him to win the whole thing, yet the next matches in the tournament are going to prove just as intriguing.

I have a harsh critique ... so I hope you don't take offense, so here goes ...

For me, one of the appeals of the territorial system is that each territory has it's own feel with at least a few locals dotting the roster to set it apart from everyone else. Here, I see a show with no local identity, with several guys running the indy gamut and a few guys with larger fame in the business.

With that said, it is well written as far as wrestling only shows go minus the "sports entertainment" which in my mind will set you apart from anyone else using a similar mix of players.

Hey Kevin sorry I'm commenting late on this, I really didn't mean it. Gotta agree with Joe and nod approvingly with your push of the PTP. Can't wait for them against the Motor City Machine Guns next show. I'm intrigued by Koslov as I'm not really familiar with his work and can't wait to see what you do with him. Overall I like the way that your Grand Prix is shaping up and I'm looking forward to the match at Fall Brawl to determine the first ever Northwest Heavyweight Champion. Good show.
