So I had a much bigger show that this planned, however real life got in the way and I got a new job out of the blue (albeit only temporarily), which means I've effectively only been able to write the promos and 1-2 of the matches with the usual depth. Combined with the fact I'm having some issues with writers block and this could have been better, but I hope you enjoy the promos as I really enjoyed writing those.
I may be taking a break for a bit after this show, I will still meet my quota however I want to rethink where I'll be taking Hybrid Pro and brainstorm some new ideas to help best use the great talent I have to work with on my roster currently.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV 25/10/2013: A New Chapter
Hello and welcome to a special episode of Hybrid Pro TV known as A New Beginning. This show takes on a special theme similar to that of Do Or Die. 7 matches will take place involving established Hybrid pro stars against exciting free agents, with the unaffiliated talent competing to get the 7 free spots on the roster. A good performance or an upset victory will go a long way towards earning someone a roster spot. We will also have all the fallout from Fall Brawl, including words with the NEW NWA World Heavyweight Champion and the former champ.
The show begins with the NEW NWA World Heavyweight Champion Christopher Daniels making his way to the ring to a standing ovation from the fans. He is accompanied by The Group.
Daniels: Thank you all. While winning this belt for a second time was a great achievement, it pales in comparison to the fact that the NWA is safe, The Prophecy are dead!
The fans again explode for that, as "Fallen Angel" chants break out.
Daniels: However I don't want to merely list that I did this single handedly, because I definitely didn't. It if wasn't for the 5 great men in this ring who not only battled The Prophecy with heart and determination, but helped get me back into the sport that I nearly quit in the first place then who knows where we could be now. Had it not been for Samoa Joe, Johnny Gargano, Bray Wyatt, Kenny King and Rhett Titus, the NWA could be dead. So give these men the ovation they deserve!
The fans again go nuts, letting The Group know that they have achieved greatness. Samoa Joe request the mic and Daniels lets him have it.
Joe: Chris, I have a lot of respect for all you've achieved. I've known you for well over a decade now. We've been on the road together, trained together, wrestled countless times and now we've stopped an unstoppable force. And if anyone deserves that belt its you. The question I want to ask now is, why are we still here?
Daniels: I don't understand what you mean Joe.
Joe: What I mean is, why are we, The Group, still here as one? You see The Group only had one goal, to destroy The Prophecy, and that goal has now been achieved. In theory, The Group should have finished with The Prophecy. So with that being said, Samoa Joe is quitting The Group here tonight. I'll always have your back if you need me Chris, but you'd better watch your back to because I'm coming for that belt. Because I am Samoa Joe, I am pro wrestling, and I will be your next NWA World Heavyweight Champion!
Joe leaves and only he could get as loud an ovation for effectively turning his back on the beloved World champ. Daniels takes back the mic.
Daniels: I can understand why Joe did that, because he is telling the truth, our purpose had been completed. Do any of you feel the same way?
Johnny Gargano takes the mic.
Gargano: I do Chris. I have all the respect in the world for you, and I'm so glad you came back and helped me destroy The Prophecy and save Kyle Matthews and the NWA from total self-destruction. But like Joe said, we no longer have a purpose and I've always been a man with a vision. Bray, Rhett and Kenny might think differently, but I have to follow a new path. But if you ever need my help you know where to turn to champ!
Johnny leaves, getting a bit more of a mixed reaction than Joe got. Daniels looks to talk again, but decides against it, instead choosing to walk away with his belt. Wyatt, King and Titus follow, but look far from a cohesive unit. The Group may very well have just died in front of our eyes.
Antonio Cesaro def TJ Perkins. Perkins showed some excellent offence, but couldn't get a 3 count over Cesaro, who pinned Perkins after the Neutralizer
Kyle O'Reilly def Sami Zayn, Homicide and Bo Dallas, Dallas being the only talent here without an official contract with Hybrid Pro. Dallas got too distracted to compete when a fan held up a big picture of himself that he couldn't stop admiring, while O'Reilly made Homicide tap in what some may call an upset to the Anklelock.
We see clips of Paul London receiving treatment at the local lunatic asylum where he is spending 1 full month. London's treatment includes a large amount of shock therapy as was evident by the video. As JR would say, Paul London is crazier than a pet coon.
Bobby Roode def Derrick Bateman in what was largely an extended showcase for Roode. He got the 3 count following the Payoff
Matt Taven and The Pistols make their way to the ring, with Taven having something to say.
Taven: A lot of you may be thinking that we're as happy as can be right now. After all we killed Da Baldies dead last night and retained our NWA North American Tag Team Titles. But thanks to one man we almost didn't do either, this man almost caused The Pistols to have to permanently break up and left the door open for the Mexicans to get a rematch for the belts. Brian Cage, get out here now!
Cage decides to show up on the titantron instead.
Cage: Aww, did I upset the little Pistols feelings. I'm sorry, I mean its not like you turned your back on me and kicked me out of your group now was it!
Taven: That was a totally justified call Brian, you didn't follow the attitude of the rest of us.
Cage: Sorry for trying to make an impact and show some character, I should have just stayed behind you Matt and let you take all the glory. Because you know what Matt, your not the so called great leader you want to play yourself as. You talk about attitude, what about your refusal to face me in the ring until I beat the entire rest of your faction. Our how you gave the matches stipulations designed to ensure I lost. And when you finally had the guts to take me on you only beat me by use of a steel chair, because you, the leader of arguably the biggest faction in the NWA right now couldn't beat the guy not good enough for The Pistols anymore clean!
Good god, did Brian Cage just make some legit points against Matt Taven? I've seen it all now.
Taven: You were the one who brought that chair into the ring in the first place. And I set those challenges up not as a means of hiding, but as a way of testing to see if you were ready to take me on.
Cage: SHUT UP! Don't try and deny it, this is exactly what you did to Randy Orton, you were too scared to face him so you made him run the gauntlet instead. Now let me ask another question, if you so called Pistols are equals, how come Matt Taven always gets the big money matches? It was Matt Taven who teamed with me in the match where you won those North American Tag Team Titles, and let me do all the dirty work. Meanwhile the rest of you bust your asses and where have you gotten. To be second wheel to a chump like him.
Taven: Well I'm sorry for building my men slowly, ensuring their star rises rather than burns out early like yours has. Samuray might not wrestle every night, but he and Tony defended the North American Tag Team Titles with honour and raised their stock at Fall Brawl, Sami is the Heavyweight Champion of this company and Mike and Tommaso defend these belts on practically every show. Meanwhile I'm backstage trying to get these guys places, only stepping in when I feel it is necessary. If looking out for the best needs of my amazing group of talent makes me a bad person then so be it.
The fans respond to that and suddenly the tables have turned back on Brian Cage.
Cage: Your a phony, no matter how you try to defend your actions. And I'm going to prove it by doing what Da Baldies couldn't, killing The Pistols dead. I'm going to form my own group and take you down for good!
Big news here, Brian Cage is going to form his own faction to combat The Pistols. It looks like faction warfare isn't over in Hybrid Pro.
Karl Anderson def JTG in a solid if unspectacular match after the Gun Stun
Non-Title 4 Way Match
Austin Aries vs Drew Gulak vs Rich Swann vs Ricochet
A great 4 way match between an established star and 3 great young talents, one of which is a former World Junior Heavyweight Champion in Ricochet. Aries had the experience advantage, and used that to control the pace of the matchup, but Ricochet and Swann also impressed with their high flying skill, and Gulak showed a ruthless mean streak and was willing to do just about anything to get the win. Aries looked to have this in the bag until Bo Dallas decided to once again grace us with his presence, singing Don't Stop Bolieving on the ramp as Aries had to cover his ears to make the pain stop. Gulak took full advantage of this, locking in the Gu-Lock and forcing Aries to tap, getting a massive upset win over our current TV Champion!
Winner- Drew Gulak
NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Title Match
The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder
Zack Ryder may not have set the world on fire with his first run in Hybrid Pro, but teaming up with his former tag partner Curt Hawkins is a pretty big deal, and The Young Bucks knew their titles could be in serious jeopardy. Hawkins and Ryder look great and showcased some crisp double team moves that won the fans over to their cause, while the Bucks used their speed as well as their own double team moves to fight back. And they would retain their titles, hitting Hawkins with More Bang for Your Bucks for the pinfall.
Winners- The Young Bucks
Daniel Bryan def Brian Kendrick in an awesome match to retain the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title via submission to the Yes Lock.
The now former World Heavyweight Champion Kyle Matthews makes his way out to boos from the fans, He is not in a good mood, as the fans chant "you tapped out".
Matthews: "I suppose you all think it was funny that my dream went up in smoke at Fall Brawl. On the brink of glory, I lost the NWA World Heavyweight Title, and The Prophecy died in the process. I've had time to reflect on the loss, and maybe the power went to my head. Maybe I forgot what was important, that being to prove I am the most hybrid athlete in NWA history. Maybe I should be thanking you Christopher Daniels for taking the belt away from me, because just like the one ring to rule them all that belt poisons your mind, it can take away your career and your sanity. I was lucky, I've escaped with both, lets see you do the same champ.
The question is, whats next for Kyle Matthews? Well, I've already made my decision. I won't be pursing a rematch for the World Heavyweight Title, instead I have my eyes on another prize: tag team gold. Myself and Jack Swagger are going to reform The Hybrid Athletes, from the ashes of The Prophecy we will rise up and take our choice of tag team titles! Thats why I want to challenge..."
Before Matthews can finish his sentence a masked man attacks him from behind, what the hell? He's utterly beating the hell out of Matthews with punches. Jack Swagger run out to try and save Matthews, only to eat the same fists. The man then unmasks to reveal....VORDELL WALKER! The fans explode as the man who's shoulder was separated a little over 2 months ago by Matthews is back. Walker locks the Juji-Gatame on Matthews who is screaming in pain. MATTHEWS IS TAPPING! Officials run out desperately trying to get Walker off Matthews who could end up with a broken arm as our show comes to an end, se you next week folks!
I may be taking a break for a bit after this show, I will still meet my quota however I want to rethink where I'll be taking Hybrid Pro and brainstorm some new ideas to help best use the great talent I have to work with on my roster currently.
