So after suffering from writers block for almost another full week, I've had nothing short of a massive injection of creativity over the past 2 days, turning this into imo one of my best shows in a while. I perhaps went a bit over the top in some places, but hey, I had a blast with this. Anyways, enjoy.
NWA Hybrid Pro TV 15/11/2013 : The Hybrid Tournament Night 2
Once again NWA Hybrid Pro owner Magnus D comes out to start the show.
Magnus: Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Night 2 of the Hybrid Tournament. We saw some great action last week, but things are going to step up a notch tonight with second half of the 1st round. Our opening contest sees former World Tag Team Champion Kyle O'Reilly do battle with old nemesis, former member of Money Inc Bobby Roode. Both these men have untapped potential as singles wrestlers in the NWA, and both like to use submissions, so once again we will open the show with a Submission Match!
As with last night, we will hear from all the wrestlers in the tonights matches before each match
O'Reilly: This tournament is one where a young star can break out from the pack, make his way to the top and become a megastar overnight. Win this and your on your way to fight Christopher Daniels, the NWA World Champion. Is this something I want to do? Hell yes, but that doesn't mean I have to win this tournament. You see, win or lose I'm going to be making a big impact in Hybrid Pro, I guarantee it!
Roode: Oh yeah baby, this is the opportunity I've been waiting for. For too long I was stuck teaming with a mediocre spoiled brat called Ted Dibiase Jr, a man with absolutely no personality or value whatsoever. Maybe we won CPW gold, but we didn't win jack shit anywhere else, I would have been a multi time NWA World champ by now if it wasn't for him. I'm making up for lost time starting tonight, the IT Factor of Professional Wrestling is about to strike Hybrid Pro!
Submission Match
Kyle O'Reilly vs Bobby Roode
As you would expect, this was a highly mat based contest, with the fans solidly behind O'Reilly while booing the arrogant Roode, who for the first time in Hybrid Pro really had a chance to showcase his talent. You could say the same for O'Reilly, the former World Tag champ has been lost in the shuffle while his former tag partner Adam Cole has thrived in NWA South Beach. O'Reilly however wasn't working his way into the title picture tonight, because after a mistimed kick, Roode locked him in the Crossface, forcing him to submit.
Winner- Bobby Roode
Magnus: An excellent way to start the show. Now onto another potentially awesome match between former rivals Johnny Gargano and Austin Aries. Of course these tow fought over the NWA Impact X-Division title and World Junior Heavyweight Title many months ago, both getting some wins in the process, but we never truly saw who the better man was. Well tonight we will with no titles on the line, so I'm going to let these guys do battle, this match needs no stipulation.
Gargano: Before I get to the match and the tournament, I want to address something important. 2 shows ago I left The Group, and the fans didn't seem to take too kindly to that. I can understand their reaction, but I had to do what was best for Johnny Gargano. You see I've never been someone who confirms, who does what the fans expect me to, or falls into line with the others. I'm a man who breaks rules and blurs the lines between good and bad seamlessly, never taking a side. Again I thank you for helping me rid the NWA of The Prophecy Christopher Daniels, and my time in The Group helped me get back the momentum I lost during my ill fated World Junior Heavyweight Title reign, but now its time to take that momentum and show what brought me to the dance in the first place. Just like saving the NWA and winning the World Title was your redemption Chris, winning this tournament and taking that title is mine!
Aries: A-Double hasn't had a lot to say lately fans, but its for a good reason. I've been working damn hard towards making the NWA Hybrid Pro TV Title mean something, I want this belt to be seen on the same level as the Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Title that Sami Callihan currently holds, or perhaps even the NWA World Title. Maybe that sounds far fetched, but I think its possible. The longer I hold this belt and the more defences I make, the more prestige it gains, and the more people want to win it. Anyone who beats me in this tournament, including you Johnny Gargano will be entitled to a shot, but i don't plan on losing. Christopher Daniels, my victory in this tournament will bring me closer to your belt, so I hope your ready to face a wrestling machine!
Johnny Gargano vs Austin Aries
What a great matchup this turned out to be, it matched their previous encounter with ease. It was almost impossible to separate the two, on the mat they were completely even, and when the pace picked up both men were again equals. Even when the match saw the occasional wild spark that lead to a brawl, you couldn't separate these two, they refused to lose. Indeed, not even a Brainbuster and 450 Splash combo could keep Gargano down, he got his foot on the ropes, while Aries managed to do the same to escape a Hurts Donut. Aries then locked on a Last Chancery, and it looked like Gargano would be forced to tap, but then Bo Dallas decided it was time to make his way out to the ring. He starts singing "Don't Stop Bolieving" as Aries grasps his ears with pain. As Dallas singing the high parts extra high, Gargano pulls out some earplugs from his trunks, I guess he knew that Dallas might make his way out here during an Aries match considering their rivalry, so he took precautions. Gargano puts in the earplugs and locks in the Crosston Crab to Aries. Aries can't stand the hold nor the singing as he is forced to tap.
Winner- Johnny Gargano
Dallas is still singing as he gets into the ring, offering Gargano a handshake. Gargano responds with a Hurts Donut to the delight of everybody in attendance, including Aries who applauds while in convulsions on the mat.
Magnus: I was blown away there fans, an amazing matchup and possibly match of the tournament so far. Give these men a round of applause!
They went one better and gave the two a standing ovation, with the two exchanging a tentative handshake that Gargano almost refused.
Magnus: My ears were also blown away by Bo Dallas, I'm sorry that you had to suffer through that again fans. Now its time for a Matt battle as the two Matt's of the roster, Hardy and Taven, do battle. Besides the names you can see a lot of similarities between these two, from their appearance to how they wrestle, so I'm going to make this a mirror match. What that means is to win, you have to hit your opponents finisher, so for Taven to win he must hit the Twist of Fate, and for Hardy to win he must hit the Taven Effect!
Hardy: Mattitude has returned to New Jersey. A lot of people think that I don't have a place in modern day professional wrestling, that I'm too old, too tired, out of shape and washed up. Well thats not ture, I've worked hard to get myself back into shape, to refocus my mind, and I am more ready than ever to prove that the legend of Matt Hardy will never die!
Taven: First of all, I'm going to address you Magnus D. I know your marketing and business background, and don't think I don't know that you won't play this up as some battle of the Matt's, and try and compare me and Matt Hardy like we are one and the same person. All I'm going to say on that is how dare you compare me to that fat old bastard, I have more talent in one finger than he ever had in his prime, and now he's a washed up old man. The fact that he even got a job here makes me so mad, the whole point of The Pistols has been to rid this company of the washed up old stars of yesteryear, yet through some name value that Magnus seems to think he still has he gets a job ahead of a hungry young talent. Matt Hardy is just hungry, he's not young or talented anymore. I'm going to win this match and this tournament to prove that youth will always triumph over experience!
Mirror Match
Matt Hardy vs Matt Taven
If I'm being honest, this wasn't the greatest of matches, these two just don't mesh that well and it showed. As much as Magnus wanted to play up these two as being similar, they are actually quite different, with Hardy taking the match more to the ground while Taven was more willing to take risks, a lot of these not paying off. The match broke down and lead to both hitting their own finishers, then realising that this won't win them the match, they have to hit their opponents finisher. Hardy went for the Taven Effect, but Taven reversed to the Twist of Fate and that got him the win as a result.
Winner- Matt Taven
Magnus: What did I tell you, two Matt's and yet similar and different at the same time. Now onto an interesting match between former member of both The Prophecy and The Group, Bray Wyatt, and one half of the Hybrid Pro Tag Team Champions Nick Jackson. These men couldn't be more different, yet one thing that's similar is their powerful allies. So I'm going to make this a managers match, each superstar can have a manager at ringside who can involve himself freely in the match at any point. Who that person is, is entirely up to Bray Wyatt and Nick Jackson.
Wyatt: (chuckling to himself) A tournament huh. Heh heh, I like a good tournament. My dear old daddy won many a tournament before he went to hell. Sister Abigail told me that when the opportunity arises, you must take it. Just like when I joined The Group, the opportunity to send The Prophecy to my dear old daddy in hell was one I had to take. I want to do the same to you Nick Jackson, and to all the people I meet on my way to the end of the line. Then its you and me Chris, you and me. Maybe we were allies but I ain't holding back when I unleash Sister Abigail on you. Remember, time is on my side.
Nick: Bray Wyatt, to me your nothing special, your just a fat guy in a Hawaiian shirt and white pants who doesn't say anything that makes sense. I'm one half of the NWA Hybrid Pro Tag Team Champions, and that gives me more credibility than any statement you make. When I win tonight, you can go join your daddy in hell for all I care, because I'm going to be the next NWA World Champion.
Managers Match
Bray Wyatt w/Rhett Titus vs Nick Jackson w/Matt Jackson
Had it not been for the stipulation, I think this match would have ended up a lot more one sided than it did, but because of the stipulation the match genuinely benefited. At t8imes it was more of a tag team match, with Titus helping Wyatt any way he could to stay on top while Matt constantly got involved to perform double team moves with his brother to take Wyatt (and on a few occasions Titus) down. Despite all the chaos, Wyatt did dominate for large portions of the match, showing just how dangerous he is. He would finish Nick off with Sister Abigail, with Titus taking out Matt to ensure he wouldn't stop the pinfall.
Winner- Bray Wyatt
Magnus: Next up the other half of our Tag Team Champions, the man standing next to me Matt Jackson battles a returning star in Chuck Taylor, who competed in the original incarnation of Hybrid Pro. I see these men as exciting, dynamic young athletes, who won't stay down for long, so lets make this match unique. The first wrestler to successfully nail a high flying move wins! But as an added twist, you must stay on the top rope for the entire 5 count of the referee!
Matt is in the ring and chose not to cut a promo.
Taylor: People are already expecting a lot of me. I was the guy that Hybrid Pro chose to null Kevin Steen's contract and trade to Main Event for. So whats the big deal you ask? My potential, thats what. For years people have said I have promise and could be a big star, but I never truly had a platform to display it. In CHIKARA I was a running joke, in South Beach I was valued but never pushed to my potential, and in my first spell in Hybrid Pro I could never break that glass ceiling. But this tournament is my chance to show the world what I can do, to show that Chuck Taylor can be a big star. And it starts tonight!
First High Flying Move Wins
Chuck Taylor vs Matt Jackson
The fans gave Taylor a very warm reception along with "welcome back" chants, and he delivered a great performance in what was a very good and fast paced matchup. Taylor was the more grounded of the two, but was certainly unafraid to quicken the pace, while Jackson tried to use out and out speed as well as springboards to succeed. The stipulation made this one tricky for either man to win, 5 second is a long time when you have 2 wrestlers this determined, and it meant you practically had to incapacitate your opponent to do it. Taylor had a way to do that, hitting an Awful Waffle on Jackson, then climbing to the top. He waited for the 5 count then delivered a picture perfect Leg Drop, which finished the match.
Winner- Chuck Taylor
Magnus: Now we move on to a big matchup as Paul London faces Tyson Kidd. Ha, who am I kidding, this match isn't happening. If you think I'm letting that loony Paul London out of the asylum early to compete in this tournament, you've got another thing coming. Tyson Kidd adva......
Before Magnus can finish his sentence PAUL LONDON COMES OUT OF THE CROWD AND HE KNOCKS OUT THE BOSS WITH A RIGHT HAND! London heads up top. LONDONS CALLING TO MAGNUS! Officials run out and take the boss out on a stretcher as London takes the mic.
London: "Insane my ass. Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul London, and I stand before you as a man who has been wronged. You see, I came to Hybrid Pro because me and Magnus had worked together before, he knows my talents and I felt he could give me the platform to once again be a success in the NWA. Now I know that this was a mistake. First of all as some point against Daniel Bryan, NWA Impact and later NWA Ring Warriors, he saddled me with an insane gimmick, simply because they were flat out ignoring the promos I was cutting challenging Bryan to a rematch. Its obvious now why I wasn't given the rematch, I mean a) the promos were poorly written and easy to ignore, and B) Bryan had already beaten me once, and titles shot are earned, not given.
I could end it here, but no, there's lots more to say. Then I'm forced to join The Prophecy, and you'd think joining a group dead beat on destroying the NWA would give a serious edge to my character. Nope, I was forced to dress and act like other wrestlers, in ridiculous outfits, and even Howard Schilling of NWA South Beach forced me to dress in cats pyjamas with bees on the knees for some reason. I think Magnus may have been trying to make me Kyle Matthews's Joker or something, but I ended up a clown, the comic relief of the Prophecy vs Group feud.
WELL I'M DONE BEING A COMIC RELIEF CHARACTER! Magnus, your a worse writer than Vince Russo and a worse promoter than Dixie Carter, and your just as sick, manipulative and insane as Vince McMahon. The fact that you had me legit locked up in an asylum for 1 month even when the cameras were off shows just how unfit you are to be head of a wrestling promotion.
I'm going to win this tournament to prove that I should be a bigger deal in this god damn organisation than I should be, and that starts by defeating you Tyson Kidd. Get out here now and lose to me like a man!"
Tyson Kidd run out as the fans are buzzing at what they've just seen and heard, we have a big matchup about to start.
Paul London vs Tyson Kidd
Tyson Kidd is a fantastic performer, there's no denying that, but I don't think London has ever looked as good as he did in there tonight. The man has new fire and determination, fuelled by the past few months of his career, and he wants to seemingly make up for lost time. Kidd just could not keep up with the newly remotivated London, his only real chance was to try and keep London down and work on the back, to set up for the Sharpshooter, but London just would not stay down, it was like he didn't even feel anything that Kidd was doing to him. London nailed a Londons Calling to end it.
Winner- Paul London
London takes the mic one more time.
London: One more thing. Daniel Bryan, I'm sorry for the past few months, I hope that someday you can forgive me. Right now your as deserving a champion as anyone in the NWA. But the next time we meet I plan on coming out on top!
London heads up the ramp and Bryan comes out, with the two staring each other down before exchanging a handshake, dear god I never thought I would see this again!
Bryan then runs down the ramp setting off the "YES YES YES" chants ahead of his match with Jimmy Jacobs. No promo for Bryan it seems, but we caught up with his opponent Jimmy Jacobs earlier.
Jacobs: Finally, a new place to unleash my brand of twisted. I loved making the NWA TOXIC, yet Hybrid Pro seemed to escape our plans so very easily. But don't worry, I have plans, you'll all see. The "Zombie Princess" is going to take control of Hybrid Pro, and do what Kyle Matthews couldn't: control the NWA. This tournament is my path to that very goal, and the belt that Christopher Daniels holds is the key.
With Magnus out of commission, I guess the rest of our matchs tonight won't have a stipulation. OK then.
Daniel Bryan vs Jimmy Jacobs
The crowd were firmly behind Bryan, chanting "YES" to practically everything the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion did. Jacobs gave Daniels a good fight, holding his own on the mat, in a fight and in the air. But Bryan is just so damn good, Jacobs practically had to do every single thing perfect to make any headway towards getting a massive upset, something which he just couldn't do the longer the match went. After a few close near falls, he finally fell to the Yes Lock, and had no choice but to tap out.
Winner- Daniel Bryan
Our final match tonight and indeed in the 1st round is Brian Cage taking on Brian Kendrick. We heard from both men earlier.
Cage: A lot of people think that just because my undefeated streak is over that I'm no longer the Unstoppable FN Machine that I once was. Well thats bullshit, because if anything I'm more dangerous now than ever before. Now that I don't have the burden of the streak anymore, I have a new focus, a drive to succeed like never before. The Caged Animal is a force to be reckoned with, and when I win this tournament, you Matt Taven will realise that I really was the only person worth a damn in The Pistols!
Kendrick: So in Hybrid Pro there's 2 men I know very well, they are called Daniel Bryan and Paul London. We trained together under the same man, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels at the Texas Wrestling Academy. We've grown as professional wrestlers together. And yet those two men always get more plaudits than I do. If I beat you tonight Brian Cage, I setup a potential match with Daniel Bryan, and if I beat him I setup a match with Paul London. Victory over those two and everybody will take me seriously. Spanky is heading back to the top!
Brian Cage vs Brian Kendrick
Going in I was expecting this to be an even affair, very mat based with Cage's power and Kendrick's speed also playing a part. It actually worked out a lot differently than that, Cage's power played a massive part as he dominated the majority of this match, in many way I don't think Kendrick knew what hit him which he only has himself to blame for. Cage looked the best he has for quite a while here, to dominate a former World Tag Champ like this is outstanding on his part. He would finish off Kendrick with Weapon X to complete the lineup for the 2nd round, and give Daniel Bryan some food for thought.
Winner- Brian Cage
So the second set of second round matches are in, and they look like this-
And in a big announcement to end the show, next week will be exclusively dedicated to the 2nd round matches, with the quarter finals and beyond being given their own show. In addition, all the 1st round losers will be taking part in a battle royal, the winner of that getting an opportunity to battle for a second spot to face the NWA World Champion. Make sure to join us for the next part of the tournament soon, goodnight folks!
NWA Hybrid Pro TV 15/11/2013 : The Hybrid Tournament Night 2
Once again NWA Hybrid Pro owner Magnus D comes out to start the show.

So the second set of second round matches are in, and they look like this-
Bobby Roode vs Johnny Gargano
Matt Taven vs Bray Wyatt
Chuck Taylor vs Paul London
Daniel Bryan vs Brian Cage
Matt Taven vs Bray Wyatt
Chuck Taylor vs Paul London
Daniel Bryan vs Brian Cage
And in a big announcement to end the show, next week will be exclusively dedicated to the 2nd round matches, with the quarter finals and beyond being given their own show. In addition, all the 1st round losers will be taking part in a battle royal, the winner of that getting an opportunity to battle for a second spot to face the NWA World Champion. Make sure to join us for the next part of the tournament soon, goodnight folks!
