NWA Hybrid Pro TV 22/11/2013 : The Hybrid Tournament Night 3
Hybrid Pro owner Magnus D makes his way to the ring to start our show in a wheelchair, accompanied by not one, not two, but THREE masked security guards. They help Magnus into the ring as he takes the mic.
Magnus: "Lets get straight to business. Paul London, your actions last week were irresponsible and reckless. Are you aware that I suffer from a back condition that means I can't take physical attacks such as yours? Because of you I may be confined to a wheelchair for months now, potentially even permanently.
In regards to your so called claims that you've been mistreated, you agreed to do anything and everything I so requested when you signed your legally binding contract with Hybrid Pro. If I want you to put on a bunny outfit and promote Easter in July, you'll do it, if I want you to have sex with Mae Young in the middle of the ring then you'll do it, heck if I want you to lose to Mae Young in the middle of the ring in a bunny outfit then you WILL! If you don't like it, you can join Azrieal, Dan Maff and D'Angelo Dinero on the unemployment line, because when I fire you, you won't just be gone from Hybrid Pro, you'll be gone from the NWA forever.
In fact I could just say your fired right now for physically assaulting me, there's not a damn thing you could do in the courts after what you did last week. But I'd rather keep you around for a while Paul and see you suffer, so you can keep your job and your spot in the tournament. But Paul, I'd be careful if I were you, you never know what could be around the corner.
Oh, one more thing, there will be NO stipulations for the rest of the tournament unless I specifically say so! (fan boo in the background) Now don't boo me, its all Paul London's fault, had he not injured me like this I could get to the ring without a 5 minute delay, which I'm sure you don't want to see. Instead you can have a battle royal between all the 1st round losers, and that match is next!"
I wonder if Magnus took a blow to the head last week to, I can understand his points but this isn't the mild mannered owner that we have seen in the past. Anyways the participants make their way out for the battle royal. Bo Dallas is last to come out, and he sings "Don't Stop Bolieving" at the very top of his voice, causing pain to all those with ears, including all the participants in the match. They don't take kindly to that, and as soon as the bell rings, EVERYBODY TEAMS UP TO ELIMINATE DALLAS! The crowd love it as Dallas seems unconcerned, leaving while still singing away!
Battle Royal
Participants: Austin Aries, Bo Dallas, Brian Kendrick, Drew Gulak, Jack Swagger, Homicide, Jimmy Jacobs, Kenny Omega, Kyle O'Reilly, Matt Hardy, Matt Jackson, Mike Bennett, Nick Jackson, Sami Callihan, Tommaso Ciampa, Tyson Kidd
So Bo Dallas obvious is already gone. Anyways, this was your typical battle royal, nothing more and nothing less, there was a lot of energy shown here though so it was a fun contest. Highlight of the match had to be the wrestler mocking Matt Hardy by struggling to get him over the top rope, because of his weight! Eliminations up to the final four were as follows
Kenny Omega by Matt and Nick Jackson (eliminated via double dropkick)
Nick Jackson by Jack Swagger (Swagger clotheslines him over the top)
Mike Bennett by Matt Hardy (Hardy threw Bennett over)
Matt Jackson by Austin Aries (Aries dropkicked him out)
Jimmy Jacobs by Drew Gulak (Gulak sent him out with a vicious Running Forearm)
Tommaso Ciampa by Homicide, Austin Aries and Kyle O'Reilly (they teamed up to eliminate him)
Brian Kendrick by Jack Swagger
Homicide by Drew Gualk (Gulak got Homicide in position for a Bodyslam then threw him over the top)
Matt Hardy by everybody left in the match (they had to team up to throw the fatass out)
Drew Gulak by Tyson Kidd (Kidd came off the top with a Dropkick sending Gulak out of the ring)
Tyson Kidd by Sami Callihan (via Bicycle Kick over the top)
Jack Swagger by the last 4 participants (they all considered Swagger the biggest threat so tossed him out as a team)
The final four were Austin Aries, Kyle O'Reilly, Sami Callihan and Tyson Kidd. At this point the match became a bit more technical, with all four wrestling and not just going straight for the elimination. Eliminations were inevitable though, and O'Reilly would send Kidd over the top and out first.
Next to go was our Heavyweight Champion Sami Callihan, who Aries dropped with a Brainbuster before tossing him over.
O'Reilly then seized the moment, charging for Aries just as he tossed Callihan out and nailing him with a brutal kick to the back of the head. Aries slumped against the ropes, and O'Reilly threw him out to win the matchup!
Winner- Kyle O'Reilly
So O'Reilly has now earned an opportunity to get a shot at Christopher Daniels. Who he will have to face to challenge for that opportunity is anyone's guess, but Magnus I'm sure will tell us soon.
Kyle Matthews vs Sami Zayn
The former World champ Matthews looked shaky in his match with Drew Gulak, but advanced regardless, while Zayn had things a bit easier against the hopeless Bo Dallas. Matthews is a master of keeping his opponents down and working on his target: the arm, which he did with ruthless efficiency here on Zayn, but Zayn had heart and determination in spades and held his own, displaying the high flying skills that are making him into one of the NWA's brightest prospects. Things took a dark turn when the referee got bumped in the corner, just as Zayn nailed his Springboard Tornado DDT. As Zayn begged for the ref to count, Jack Swagger ran out and attacked Zayn, laying him out with a Doctor Bomb. Matthews crawled over as the referee struggled to count, 1-2-NO, Zayn somehow kicked out! Matthews calls for the Hidaka Lock, but Vordell Walker runs out from the crowd. He knocks Matthews lights out with a punch, straight into a BRAINBUSTER BY ZAYN! 1-2-3, SAMI ZAYN JUST PINNED KYLE MATTHEWS!
Winner- Sami Zayn
Walker smirks and leaves as Matthews cannot believe what just happened. Sami Zayn on the other hand is delighted, he didn't expect to get past Matthews and now he has a real chance of beating anyone in this tournament!
Karl Anderson vs Samuray Del Sol
A big time clash of styles here as the no nonsense approach of former 2 time Hybrid pro champ Karl Anderson clashed with the fast paced style of Del Sol. It was a fun matchup as these two worked well together, with Anderson looking to take Del Sol down any way he could and keep him on the canvas while Del Sol hung on in there and took any chances that came to him. In whats already looking like a night of upsets, Del Sol managed to score a massive win over the former champ, nailing a Del Sol Driver to advance.
Winner- Samuray Del Sol
What a quarter final match we have, Sami Zayn against Samuray Del Sol, its anyone's guess who could win that one.
Samoa Joe vs Vordell Walker
You knew going in that this one was going to be brutal, with both men loving to throw big punches, forearms and kicks, and they certainly didn't dissapoint, going all out here with a very hard hitting matchup. But it was one that didn't last maybe as long as it could, and that was down to former World Champ Kyle Matthews, who ran down to the ring with his signature steel chair. He took the chair AND SMASHED JOE WITH IT! The ref calls for the bell, and that means Joe advances by DQ. A sneaky tactic by Matthews to eliminate Walker, knowing that if he'd attacked Walker then Walker would have advanced.
Winner- Samoa Joe by DQ
Matthews isn't done, he dishes out a brutal chairshot to Walker, then follows that with several more. He puts Walker in the Hidaka Lock, locking the hold in on that shoulder that Walker separated two months ago! Joe recovers and breaks it up as Matthews bails. Walker and Joe exchange a handshake, and I hope we see a Matthews free rematch down the line.
Tony Nese vs Antonio Cesaro
I was genuinely very intrigued by this match going in, Nese's star is on the rise and Cesaro is a man on the cusp of breaking out into a top level star, both had a lot to gain in this tournament. And both put on a tremendous performance, Cesaro always had great matches against opponents of Nese's style and Nese put on another fantastic performance, his stock has risen no matter the result. I say that because Cesaro was the one to advance, he nailed the Neutralizer on Nese to pin him and get the win.
Winner- Antonio Cesaro
That means that Samoa Joe will do battle with Antonio Cesaro in a match that I expect to be hard hitting and full of great wrestling, I can't wait to see that match.
Bobby Roode is backstage.
Roode: Before I get to my match tonight, I have a message for you Ted Dibiase. We all know that I was truly the man who carried our team, and let me explain why. I had to work my way up Ted from the bottom, I've fought for my position as one of the best in our industry. Meanwhile you were always going to get a million shots Ted because of your million dollar father, and have you taken any of them to become a star? Nope, your still plain old dull Ted Dibiase Jr. I accept your challenge, you name the time and place and I'll be there to prove I'm the best.
As for you Johnny Gargano, you remind me a lot of Ted. Your a guy who seems to have had a million shots at being a big star, and yet you've never taken any of them besides that failed run as World Junior champ. I'll beat you with ease and become the next NWA World Champ!"
Bobby Roode vs Johnny Gargano
I think based on the promo he cut before this match, Roode highly underestimated the challenge that had been put in front of him. Gargano is a top notch technician with the ability to adapt to almost any style of opponent, and he did that again here by taking more risks, trying to out quicken his slightly bigger opponent. Roode on the other hand looked more to the brawling side of his game, throwing lots of fists and bending the rules whenever he could, so you didn't really have as much mat wrestling as you think you would see. Roode would lock in his patented Crossface, but Gargano reversed to the Crosston Crab, a move he has been using a lot more as of late. Roode had no choice but to tap, as Gargano advances to the quarter finals.
Winner- Johnny Gargano
Matt Taven vs Bray Wyatt
Taven certainly put up more of a fight than Nick Jackson did, but even then this match was a bit more one sided than it probably should have been, I was perhaps a little disappointed in Taven here for not showing more. Thats not to say that Taven didn't try his best, he nailed a few moves on Wyatt and looked impressive, but Wyatt was such a force that it was damn near impossible to stop him. One Sister Abigail and Wyatt was through.
Winner- Bray Wyatt
So we get a clash of former Group members in the quarter final, as Johnny Gargano and Bray Wyatt face off!
Chuck Taylor vs Paul London
Another very interesting matchup, as the red hot Paul London did battle with a man who wants to make his star in this tournament in Chuck Taylor. The two had a fantastic match, Taylor stepped his game up considerably in order to keep up with London who looks to be in the form of his career right now, hitting every high risk move perfectly and looking great on the mat to. London was about ready to pick up the win with a Londons Calling, when two of Magnus' masked security force ran out and shoved London off the top, beating him down as the referee called for the bell, what the hell is this!
Winner- Paul London by DQ
The two security guards proceeded to beat London down 2 on 1, showing no mercy at all as the fans boo. London is hauled up as one of the security guards nails a brutal Spear, then the second security picks up the near limp London for a Full Nelson! Magnus is pushed out onto the ramp by the 3rd guard and he has a mic.
Magnus: "Hah, payback's a bitch isn't it Paul, thats what you get for crippling me. And it doesn't end here. You see I could have just fixed it so you lost this match, but I'm going to play the game and let you live on in this tournament for now. You better hope you don't have three matches next week Paul, because you'll be in a bodybag if you have to take that many beatdowns.
Oh and Chuck, sorry I had to do this, I know I've kind of rained on your parade a bit here. I know your skills and you'll get an opportunity to get your rightful title shot soon. After all I wouldn't have signed you over Kevin Steen if I didn't have plans for you!"
Magnus rubs his hands as a sinister smile appears on his face. What has happened to the owner of this company, he appears to have gone crazy with power!
Daniel Bryan is backstage, and shakes his head after watching the events he just saw.
Bryan: Paul London, maybe we've had our differences in the past, but I don't appreciate how your being treated. This is a message to you Magnus, if I overcome a very tough opponent called Brian Cage tonight and make it to the quarter finals, I don't want any interference from your security. If anyone so much as sets foot on the ramp during that match, I will quit this company and take my belt with me, and there's not a damn thing you or your lawyers can do about it.
I also want to address you AJ Styles. I accept your challenge for Battle of the Belts, it would be a honour to face a challenger of your stature. I want to repeat what you said as my final words for tonight: we will have a match for the ages!"
Daniel Bryan vs Brian Cage
Daniel Bryan had a damn tough fight here, Cage looked like a man possessed, determined to make up for lost ground and took the fight to the World Junior champ. Indeed Bryan had to raise his game more and more as the match went on, something which a man of his talent rarely even needs to do, but the fact that Bryan could find extra gears that Cage didn't even have shows just how fantastic a performer he is. Indeed after escaping Weapon X not once but twice, Bryan locked in the Yes Lock, forcing Cage to tap out!
Winner- Daniel Bryan
So that gives us one hell of a final quarter final, a rematch between Paul London and Daniel Bryan, another match where its very difficult to pick a winner. Next week grand finale to the Hybrid Tournament is sure to be awesome, and 8 men have a shot at facing the World Champion Christopher Daniels. The show ends with Bryan leading the fans in "YES" chants, see you next week folks!
Hybrid Pro owner Magnus D makes his way to the ring to start our show in a wheelchair, accompanied by not one, not two, but THREE masked security guards. They help Magnus into the ring as he takes the mic.
